A recent meme I posted on Twitter which compares the price of iPhone X to 25 copies of The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs (I know, ridiculous) inspired me to do some actual, serious research. Yeah, memes can be inspiring you know.

I began with my research. I started off by calculating the prices of all Sims 4 content released so far:
- The Sims 4 Base Game ($40)
- The Sims 4 Expansion Packs (4 x $40 = $160) (I included Cats & Dogs as well which yet have to be released)
- The Sims 4 Game Packs (5 x $20 = $100)
- The Sims 4 Stuff Packs (12 x $10 = $120)
Total amount of cash you need for all content released for The Sims 4 so far = $420.
Considering the fact that iPhone X starts at $999 I’m not even halfway of filling up that price point. So what did I do? I started searching on Amazon for PCs that can support The Sims 4. And you wouldn’t believe what I found…
Well actually you will believe – it’s a decent pre-built PC with specs that can support playing The Sims 4 and all the content released so far with above average graphic settings. It’s got 8 gigs of RAM, 1TB HDD, six core processor of 3.5GHz and a 2 gig graphics card.
Best of all? It’s only $560. You also get a keyboard and a mouse!

So, what’s the total cost of The Sims 4’s current complete experience + a decent pre-built PC? $980.
What’s the price of the cheapest version of iPhone X that you can get? $1000.
What are you supposed to do with information? It’s entirely up to you to decide.
