The Sims 4 Is Getting A Third Rebrand

The 2025 Rebrand brings a colorful Plumbob, groovy new logo and unique new typography.

If there’s any game that likes to Rebrand and showcase their DLC portfolio in the most vibrand and up-to-date way possible, it’s The Sims 4. Electronic Arts has invested a lot of efforts into changing the game’s marketing messages, PR buzz words and striking visuals over the years. In their previous 2019 Rebrand, EA hired Skylight Collective to do an entire rebrand of The Sims 4 and its entire catalogue of DLC releases for a new Gen Z audience.

The rebrand was well translated quickly into The Sims 4 Base Game and soon its future (and previous) Expansion Pack, Game Pack and Stuff Pack releases. As well as Kits which changed a lot of their branding target from the start!

The Sims 4 Rebrand: 2019 Kits Rebranding

On January 14th, 2025 Maxis dropped a new Sims 4 Update which changed the Main Menu design entirely. Brought a brand new The Sims 4 Logo to the top left corner, as well as promised on changing in-game typography in one of the early mockups shown in Behind The Sims.

The Monochrome version of the plumbob is expected to be utilized for general Sims games across the series, while the fully rendered 2025 Plumbob will be used more to distinct the game entry.

I really dislike the rebrand, I think the 2019 font was more unique, and the new homepage looks like every pay-to-play game available. I’d love to see the old assets available for download here instead of/as well as the new ones.

I don’t like the monochromatic plumbob being used as it rather dull. The only thing I want to see it on is T-shirt. Other than that & the main menu being blue instead of white I’m okay with everything else

It looks awful. The super 3D plumbob does not match the flat type. And the spacing around it is just awkward. They shouldn’t have even rebranded a second time, let alone a third. Nothing about it resembles the Sims franchise at all. Boooo

As a graphic designer, I get the appeal of rebranding and keeping up with trends and keep a fresh image. But at the same time, a brand has to be consistent and timeless, all previous games had a single brand image, but for the sims 4 it has been very inconsistent. For me, it seems like a weak design work, and I’m not blaming the graphic designers behind the design, they’re probably just following directions from upper ups. I just hope this is the last rebrand, is not perfect, but is not bad either, it works, let it be the way it is.

Terrible!!! Ewww it’s blurry and just looks like really low quality. They need to start polls before rebranding cause the choices they make are gonna lose them money. Who is in charge of this mess lol

I personally like the new aesthetic and rebranding, but I understand why some people don’t. What irks me, though, is the inconsistent styles and branding throughout the game. It feels very patchy at this point, with several different styles mixed together. The original game UI, the loading screen, the splash screen, the main menu, and the world picker are all very inconsistent.

The emphasis on THE makes me think the sims 1 and 2 are definitely being re-released!

Not a fan of the rebrand. I personally prefer 2019’s. The new typography for 2025 is very hard to read.
