Take a deep dive into the Secret Sanctuary Kit!

Thirty-seven kits later, we finally saw the arrival of kits that included both CAS and BB items. Whether or not this is a good move is yet to be seen, but I’m loving it from what I’m seeing so far. The Sims 4 Secret Sanctuary Kit releases alongside ‘Casanova Cave’ and ‘Comfy Gamer’ Kits; the review for the latter can be found here for those not interested in CAS items.
With 12 Build-Buy items and 14 Create-A-Sim items, there’s a lot to get into. Here is our overview of every item that comes with the pack. Stick around to the end to hear our full review.

Object Functionality
A few of these objects are fucntional. As expected the Gramophone plays any of the ingame stations and emits a spooky red mist when on.

The Arcane Aroma Tea Tray can be stocked with Shadowberry Tea and comes with a new mug, giving Sims who drink it a +2 Confident moodlet called ‘Radiant Mystique’

A new functional vanity is always a welcome addition. It gives players without Vintage Glamour Stuff or the Modern Luxe Kit the ability to have their Sims don various preset makeup looks.

One of the important functional parts of this Sims 4 Kits doesn’t have any new interactions. And that’s what makes it ever more secret! The Secret Sanctuary Door by Cryptic Co can be used as a portal between two rooms.

We also have the new portal recorded in action:
Styled Room
This Kit comes with one newly styled room in 3 colour swatches. The (unsurprisingly named) ‘Secret Sanctuary’ costs 28,923 Simoleons and can be found under the Living Room tab.

Our Review of The Secret Sanctuary Kit
The Secret Sanctuary Kit is available on the EA App and other stores for $4.99 or your local equivalent.
I was sceptical when I heard that some kits would now ship with both CAS and BB combined, and I can’t say I sold on the idea. As a big fan of build mode, I am sad to see the lower object count. However, I am glad that kits will now include something for everyone.
Starting with the Create-A-Sim items, this is a hit-or-miss selection. Some pieces, such as the elegant gown with the slit up one side, are perfect for formal and party outfits. However, the polo shirt and the halter neck top feel like they shipped with the 2014 base game. I appreciate the necklace – a call back to Bella Goth’s necklace from the Sims 2. Another aspect I enjoy is the versatility of many of the pieces. There is something for every category besides swimwear, which isn’t often the case with kits. The CAS content of this Kit caters more towards the feminine category, in contrast to the Casanova Cave Kit.
Now, onto the Build Buy. The Build Buy selection is where the Kit shines. Every item comes with matching swatches, and each object has a style that matches the existing aesthetics of the game. One of my favourite items is the new hidden bookcase door, which reminds me of the rotating door in The Sims 2 Apartment Life. This door blends seamlessly with the new full-height bookshelf placed flush against the wall..
The new Echoes of Elegance Gramophone emits a red cloud when music plays, similar to the gramophone from the Reapers Rewards Event. I sometimes wish such effects could be turned off, as many, myself included, may find this effect jarring and immersion-breaking. The only thing the BB selection is missing is a new coffee table on which to place the tea tray; even a side table would do.
I had a lot of fun remodelling the recently refreshed Goth house with the objects included, and the swatches included fit perfectly with the existing base game furniture. I also enjoyed giving Bella Goth some new outfits and refreshing her style. See below for more!
Lookbook
If you’re looking for outfit inspiration look no further as I prove how versatile these pieces are in any scenario you throw your Sim into.

Great review!
Heads up there seems to be an error in the first title referencing Cozy Gamer instead of Secret Sanctuary. <3
Great items but I miss a single tile version of the bookcase and the bookcase door. For smaller homes or apartments these would have been very welcome. Also a couch to match the chaise lounge would be helpful to create an entire room. I think I would have preferred less cas and these items instead.
I wish the bookcase door DID fit seamlessly with the non-door bookshelves! Don’t get me wrong, this is leagues better than the no-dimension bookcase doors we had before, but this door is still thinner than the matching bookshelves, so you can see a little depression where the door is. I would really love for them to give us a secret door that really is a secret, with no visual giveaways.
