The Sims Team is wrapping up final testing for a retroactive missing rails fix.
It just wouldn’t be an eventful new Sims 4 feature release without that feature breaking everything on day 1. EA has just announced today a new Sims 4 Hotfix update, aimed for a February 12th, 2026 release.
The team has acknowledged the missing stair railings in save game builds. What would be a celebration of the new Stair Tools release turned into players fixing all of the lots in their worlds. But worry not, the upcoming patch is expected to fix that for you! As the team states, “if everything checks out” the patch solution should be delivered to your game launcher on February 12th.

Simmers, we’re wrapping up final testing on a retroactive fix for the missing railing issue. If everything checks out, it should ship in a small update on Feb 12, we’ll confirm once it’s locked in.
There’s more Sims 4 bugs that came with the recent game patch than just missing stair rails. Players have also reported the black photos issue returning in their games, issues with family trees and more that we covered in our latest Sims 4 Bug Report.

Apologies in advance, but this comment isn’t gonna be too nice.
I’ve been playing the Sims 4 for a lot of years (Don’t recall the whole amount) and as much as I love the game, it has its faults, because of TS4 team. My mother and I have noticed, that everytime a new expansion pack comes out, or everytime a new stuff or kit pack comes out, TS4 releases a patch update, overall breaking not only their game, but the platforms in which people play the game.
The most recent update affected a lot of mods for players, and that is so damn annoying to go through thousands of mods, just to have them break because theres a patch before the new expansion.
So, this strongly worded message is for the team of TS4. Get your heads out of your ass, and properly fix your game, instead of releasing new expansions. Better yet, don’t patch a game BEFORE an expansion comes out, because it breaks games and servers. I’m not just saying this for me and my mother, I’m saying it for everyone. Fix your shit, and do it right instead of messing up everyone’s game.
I don’t know if you were aware of this or not as I assume you are not a game developer yourself but it is common knowledge that any game, be it The Sims or another game that has DLC like expansions needs to have a pre patch before the new content is released so that it can make the game ready for the new content. This is just a part of how games are in general, you can’t just add in the DLC without a patch to prepare the game first. So I am afraid that your hopes of them adding in new packs without patches is simply not going to happen.
Also your complaint about the mods breaking when a patch happens, it is annoying that mods break when a patch happens but once again this is a common thing that happens in any game that also supports mods. While The Sims 4 does allow mods in its game, it is not the responsibility of The Sims team to make sure that mods are not broken. Mods are going to break and that’s simply a fact since patches for games change the code of the core game and therefore the modders will need to update those mods to work with the new code. If your game is breaking because you decide to re-enable your mods right after a patch update and then wonder why your game is all kinds of broken, then that’s on you for not waiting until modders to update the mods.
Players are given clear instructions that when you use mods, they can and will break when a patch happens. No matter the game.
The patch gets released, to fix bugs and get players new functions to the game. And true, some players game gets broken because the patch, which is very annoying for sure. But it’s a very big game, and I think it would happen, no matter how much the Sims team are working on fixing them all.
Regarding mods, I get it’s annoying, when people have to update their mods, but it’s their own decision to play with mods. I play with mods too, I get the frustration. Sure it’s annoying to go through thousands of mods, but that’s the consequence we face playing with mods. That’s not EA’s responsibility to make sure that our mods works.
My railings were fine, but debug items have been visible without cheats or mods since the update. I completely deleted the Sims 4 folder and started fresh without it, and now i have uninstalled the game and re-deleted the sims 4 folder and am waiting for it to finish reinstalling to see if THAT fixes it. So many items in the BB menu make it nearly impossible to actually build anything because they hide everything else just by the sheer overwhelming number of items. Trying to hide them with the cheats didn’t work either. I’m not even going to bother trying to reinstall my mods until those have been updated after the 12th, but if the debug items are still in the main BB menus after a full reinstall idk WHAT to do. This is the worst the game has ever been broken for me, and a 10 hour+ re-download for 121 packs (according to the ea app) is a nightmare. I just wanna build stuff if I can’t reinstall my saves from before the update I’ll have lost a really cool build i was midway through… I don’t even know if anything broke in live mode because i went right to BB and was inundated with debug items in my face and immediately went to trying to fix it.
Wow the EA app is really laying it all out there for us eh? Hehe we definitely don’t have a problem:|
Is there any news/progress about nectar tool tip being fixed anytime soon it has been an issue for over a year. I’m just curious. I just got back on the game after a long hiatus.
Simmer here for 2 decades. For the love of god I do not care about stair rails, why the hell is my game freezing, lagging and unable to even save or close properly? I have no mods in as yes every update and patch breaks them so we take them out. I can play vanilla while everyone recodes, mccc only took like a week. BUT THE BASE GAME WITH NOTHING IN IT IS NOT WORKING WHHYYYYYY. Cleared cache, repaired twice, no mods in. I am not new to this game EA, please I have paid y’all well over 2k the base game should be unshakable at this point.
