The Sims Board Game may be coming sooner than expected!

TheSimsBoardGame Stella

The UK Games Expo (UKGE) is the largest hobby and board games convention in the United Kingdom, hosted this year at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, UK. With a focus on tabletop games, the event holds tournaments, special appearances, and demos of new and upcoming tabletop games.

Stella Jahja, Co-Founder of Meeple University, attended Day 1 of UKGE and got to play a demo of The Sims Board Game. Meeple University primarily focuses on creating fun and educational videos surrounding board games, how to play them, and reviews to assist watchers in finding the best tabletop games to buy.

The Sims Board Game is being created in a collaboration between Goliath Games, the company behind other tabletop games like “Pop The Pig” and “Scream: The Game”, and Electronic Arts, the publisher of The Sims franchise. While not every detail of the game and how it will work is known just yet, we now have more insight between Goliath Game’s listing for The Sims Board Game and Jahja’s video.

Needs Trackers? Aspiration Cards?

The Sims Board Game Goliath Games Listing

Per Goliath Game’s leaked listing for The Sims Board Game…

  • Immerse yourself into The Sims universe: create your character, build relationships, meet iconic Sims, and complete your aspirations!
  • Features unique components fans will LOVE like plumbob-shaped dice and “Needs” slider
Goliath Game’s Leaked Listing

The main focus of the board game seems to be modeled after one of the goals of the mainline series games from The Sims all the way to The Sims 4; Take care of your sim, fulfill their needs, and follow their aspirations. As far as we know so far, the board includes locations throughout The Sims 4, with the design being similar to the maps of Willow Creek, Newcrest, and Magnolia Promenade, but with its own unique layout.

Location cards we’ve seen in Jahja’s video of the demo include…

  • Foxbury Institute, one of the universities from The Sims 4: Discover University.
  • Llama Lagoon, which is a neighborhood in Newcrest.
  • Pectoral Fitness, the gym in Del Sol Valley’s Starlight Boulevard neighborhood.
  • The Blue Velvet, the nightclub in Willow Creek’s Crawdad Quarter neighborhood.
  • The Futures Past Museum, the museum in Oasis Springs’ Mirage Canyon neighborhood.
  • Thriftea, the combo thrift store and bubble tea shop in Copper Springs’ Prescott Square neighborhood.
  • Umbrage Manor, one of the premade residential lots in Willow Creek’s Pendula View neighborhood.

The player gets a “Needs Tracker” card and a secondary card with a lot on it, possibly where the player “lives”, a spot for current or completed aspiration cards, and a spot labeled as “Action Cards”. While the video doesn’t show the “Action Cards” spot in use, it does show cards with a list of actions and results, with the results depending on whether the player decides to “Go Out” or “Go Home”. Some of the actions shown include…

  • GO OUT
    • Travel to any venue
      • A. Lower Need
      • B. Play Card
    • Befriend Iconic Sims
    • Mingle with one player at your venue
    • Score!
  • GO HOME
    • Raise 2 Needs
    • Draw 1 Aspiration, Discard 1
    • Score!

A plumbob shaped piece is also visible in multiple shots, although its usage is not described or shown.

TheSimsBoardGame NeedsTracker

Because players have to take care of their own needs, each card lists consequences from whether they “Go Out” or “Go Home”, usually lowering or raising needs, playing a card, befriending sims, drawing aspirations, and more.

Cards labeled “Iconic Sims Move!” are also shown, with pictures indicative of actions or objects found in the game. They also include symbols that we see for different traits, actions, or needs in the game, as well as a description of the action. For example, the “Voidcritter Game” card has symbols of a gear, shirt, and a jester’s hat. The photo on the card is of a child playing on the Voidcritter Battle station from The Sims 4: Kids’ Room Stuff, with the text “Will you achieve a Voidcritter victory or a humbling loss?” at the bottom of the card.

The other cards visible seemingly represent iconic premade sims from The Sims 4 that you can befriend, with what looks to be a short description or goal underneath their photo.

PlumbobDice

And while it isn’t mentioned or shown in usage, we also get a glimpse of the Plumbob shaped dice advertised in Goliath Game’s original listing! While we can’t see all sides of the dice, the one visible has an open hand with all five fingers up.

Keep an eye on July!

the sims roadmap summer

The Sims Summer Roadmap of 2025, for the franchise rather than The Sims 4 specifically, lists “The Sims Board Game” in July but without a date. This means that we will likely see more information, hear of a release date, or actually see the board game released in July.

Will you be purchasing The Sims Board Game? The reported MSRP of the game is $19.99 USD. Follow The Sims Community to keep up with updates to the release of The Sims Board Game and other incoming news for The Sims franchise!
