Contagious spreading of Ailments is getting a toggle switch in a future Sims 4 Update.
The Sims Team has made an announcement late last night about a new The Sims 4 update currently in preparations. According to Maxis, the patch will incorporate a new toggle switch in the Pack Settings, letting you reduce the contagious spreading of Ailments from The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature.
Here’s what they’ve shared in the latest message:
We’ve heard your feedback on Ailment tuning in Enchanted by Nature and we’re developing a toggle to enable or disable Ailments spreading contagiously, coming in a future patch. Once disabled, Sims who already have Ailments will need to wait it out or seek a cure, but no more Sims will contract Ailments through spontaneous spread. By disabling both Enable Balance & Imbalance and Enable Ailment Spread, this will disable all natural sources of Ailments.
We’ll have more info to share with you once we’ve confirmed a release date.
FYI: There’s another Sims 4 Update expected to arrive on August 19th. The Sims Team describes that it will bring “new skin customization options”. We have to wait and see if this Ailments toggle switch will be added before the Aug 19th update. Until then, stay tuned for all the latest Sims 4 news on Sims Community!
Good. That option really should have been there from the start.
They either were too lazy and thought it wasn’t needed or, which is more believable, they simply didn’t have time to implement it from the get-go. I imagine such a greedy company as EA doesn’t let developers work on important details for too long
They are definitely overworking them to release three expansions per year, but i doubt we wouldn’t get better results if they weren’t also so mismanaged
They should also add a hospital and police station to base game instead of having to buy a 40 dollar pass in order to get the for it and more base game jobs
I really want to push the Sims team to do live stream bug fixes and stuff. Giving us a behind the scenes look at them actually working on the game. I’m curious to know…what they actually do… It’s more for us to hold them accountable. In a live stream they can ask questions regarding bugs in real time and we would be able to see them and their thought process as they address these things. Once I see them actually play testing, fixing bugs, talking directly about issues without colourful language I’ll start having believing they’re giving at least 60% effort.
They need this toggle for the Pets to

We need them to fix the accessories general tabs. I have CC thats only seen on General Tab and it annoys me to no end.
Can SIMS4 add an update that children go to boarding school?
Well even if they did, they wouldn’t release it for free, they’d lock it behind a pack
I suppose there is no word on fixing the sims that won’t do anything you ask and they just stand there. This has been going on since the first update before the new pack came out. I don’t want custom skin colour. I just want to be able to play my game.
Yes so annoying with all the pop up things that sometimes mess up my game completely thenn i cant save it freezes and i have to start up again thank god i just saved 5 mins ago but still. I just want to be able to play my game as well no interruptions. Im on playstion 4 pro.
My people stand around like that and won’t do anything when you have over decorated your home causes your Sims characters to buffer, which is truly sad because you don’t get to see a person’s true potential on how they want to decorate and build their home you have to make wise decisions on what you want to use should be unlimited with no buffer, considering we can’t talk to nobody

So disabling the new game play elements ? Ailments and balance were supposed to be ” highlights” of the new occults. Makes you wonder if they even play tested this pack before they released it. EA has been getting sloppy with its releases for this game, look at the disaster with For Rent ( save issues still not fixed) and Love Struck. They had to rush out several patches to try and repair how bad they messed up relationships. Do they even play this game?
You can always choose to leave them on?! They’re adding a toggle for those who don’t want them all the time, not to turn them off for everyone. I don’t get complaining about every single thing. You also have the option not to play the game at all if you hate it so much.
Often I buy a new pack for one thing and would like to turn off other things it comes with. I think its good to have the option to turn off, or leave on, some features. I’d really like to turn off grief and tone down the romance.
Would be cool if they added more hair and eye colour options along with skins.
Like limiting werewolves to Moonwood Mill, they should have also limited aiments to Innisgreen,
Also, please let us turn off notifications for other packs, PLEASE.
We don’t need notifications constantly about thrifty, school prom, etc you did this with B&Hs, it shouldn’t be too hard to implement.
When will Sims4 allow us to communicate through Mic in game chat? (truly only thing I hate about Sim’s4 it’s 2025 guys) sucks you can’t talk to nobody! I just hear lullabies for hours!
Any news on when they’re going to fix the “Fairies can’t access their skills/are considered normal Sims in CAS/Live Mode, both created and premade, and therefore can’t be edited” bug? Or the “Fairies wings don’t show up despite the bug fix” bug? Really don’t wanna resort to mods to cope, even if I really like SpinningPlumbobs’ stuff, as I shouldn’t have to use it as a substitute.
