The Sims 4 Blog: How to Throw a Holiday Soiree

TS4_399_HOLIDAY_01_003

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and now that The Sims 4 includes festive décor to pair with the holiday season, we thought it would be fun to share some ways your Sims can throw the ultimate holiday party.

First things first, let’s be sure that you have the Holiday Celebration Pack successfully installed. If you have yet to do so, you can follow the instructions in our careers blog http://www.thesims.com/news/ts4-newcareers to unlock this new content.

Now that the holiday content is in your game, let’s begin.

When prepping for parties, I like to be sure my Sim’s house has plenty of space for guests to mingle. I start by re-arranging some of the furniture to create open space for my Sims to sip on nectar juice and dance the night away.

Then I like to browse the holiday décor and spruce up my Sim’s home with some festive flare. A few of my favorites are the Snowman Lawn Ornament (that I prefer to put inside rather than out on the lawn), the Wreath and of course, Christmas Lights!

Now that my place is set for the holidays, I can’t wait to show it off to friends and family. Before we get to planning our party, I want be sure to tidy up the house and get my Sim ready. I make sure they shower the grime away, get into just the right mood, and (of course) put on the ugliest holiday sweater in their dresser!

Now, let’s set up a holiday party to invite some Sims and bask in the holiday spirit.

(Pro tip: Don’t forget to keep your Sim’s work schedule in mind when planning. You don’t want to start the party of the year and have to leave halfway through, because it’s time to go to work!)

To Plan a Social Event, click on your Sim’s cell phone – it’s an icon located on the lower left hand side of the screen and select “Plan a Social Event.”

From the list of different activities, I am going to select “House Party” – it’s a bit more informal and lively; really making a great atmosphere.

Click the “Next” button and onwards to the guest list.

Start by selecting a Host for the event. I generally select my own Sim.

Then you can choose Sims you’d like to invite as guests. Friends, family, loved ones – who makes the cut?

This particular Social Event also offers up the option to invite or hire on an Entertainer, a Mixologist or a Caterer.

For a holiday party however, I don’t need an Entertainer. Rather, I’ll have my Sim play some festive holiday music from the stereo.

But, I do want to invite a Mixologist to staff the bar and a Caterer to provide the yummy food. This should free my Sim a little more so they can socialize with guests and enjoy themselves.

Crank up the stereo and blast the holiday tunes to set the tone for the party.

Now it’s time for the party to begin! Your invited guests will soon arrive.

When planning a Social Event, your Sim can achieve goals during the Social Event that unlock rewards for making the party better.

For the House Party Social Event, my Sim’s goals are to:

·       Host and Socialize with Guests
·       Have Drinks (yes please!)
·       Tell Jokes
·       Listen to Music

I better get to partying to hit all these goals!

Cheers!

The Sims 4: Premium Membership Details + Icon

Update: @SimmerTiago has let us know that they found a Sims 4 Premium golden logo in a FNAC store in France. Does this mean we’ll get to purchase the Premium Membership in retail stores as well?

After The Sims Team released a Career Patch for The Sims 4 in mid-December, I noticed a rather interesting, golden Plumbob icon (that we added down below) in the game files. After digging through The Sims 4’s updated string files to find a meaning of it, a few lines have caught my eye:

– Congratulations, you are now a Premium Member!

– We’ll notify you when new items become available.

– New items are available in your game!

– To find your items, look for the gold flag icon in Create A Sim or Build Mode.

It’s not the first time we’re hearing information about The Sims 4 Premium Membership though. Back in July The Sims Developers ”accidentally” leaked a text for 2-3 describing this Membership.

Considering the fact that The Sims 4’s newly announced Game Pack called Outdoor Retreat will hit the digital shelves in January 2015, we yet have to find out how will TS4 Premium Membership relate with Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs or will they have any connections at all, but one thing is certain – this membership will bring new Objects for your Sims!

The Sims Team has just sent out VIP Newsletters for all of those who subscribed to them (you can do so HERE).

They also snuck in a small Outdoor Retreat hint on the Newsletter Render – a bear toy wearing a moose hat!

The Sims 4: Snowy Terrain Mod

Hey everyone, Zerbu here!

You have your Sims all ready for the holidays. They have their decorations from the Holiday Celebration Pack up, with Winter Holiday music playing. The only problem is… where’s the snow?

Well, my new Snowy Terrain mod, your Sims can enjoy the holidays in the snowy depth of winter. The mod replaces all the terrain in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs with snow.

You can download the mod here: http://zerbu.tumblr.com/post/105307151492/the-sims-4-mod-snowy-terrain

The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat: Kotaku’s Q&A with EA

0

sims4orpcteaser_starev10_na_hd 25

Kotaku: You mention that that the game pack will add “new gameplay features” into the mix, but it sounds like most of the additions specified are specific assets/bits of content—outdoor cooking and costumes. Are you adding new activities that Sims can participate in as well?

EA: Yes, we have some really great new things for Sims to do. Sims can partake in new group activities like the campfire and horseshoes, try their hand at mastering potions with the new herbalism skill, wander through the wilderness, collect all new plants, insects and use them to create herbal remedies and new cooking recipes.

Kotaku: What sort of destination/area is granite falls, exactly? is it a new public lot? will sims be able to set up houses there, or anything like that? can you build buildings there, regardless of what sims (if any) live there, or is it more wilderness focused? will you be able to mess around with any of the geographic features in build mode at all?

EA: Granite Falls is a brand new destination in The Sims 4. When you arrive you’ll be in a Campground neighborhood where your Sims can set-up camp among the trees or rent a fully furnished cabin. Your Sims will only have what they bring with them – any additional supplies they’ll need they’ll have to purchase at the Ranger Station – but players may edit the Campground lots through Manage Worlds and build whatever they like on them. 2

The second neighborhood in Granite Falls is Granite Falls National Park, which is a lush forest full of plants, insects, and scenic vistas to discover and explore. There are rumors of a mysterious hermit who lives high up in the mountains, but no one knows quite where…
