The Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block Aspiration Guide

Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block Aspiration

The Sims 4 ‘Cool Kid on the Block’ aspiration is newly included in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits expansion pack. Like quite a few of the aspirations before it, it feels like a tour of the new content in the pack. Follow along for a detailed guide on how to complete each step of this aspiration.

Rock Star Phase

The first phase of the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration has four steps to complete. Most of these are self-explanatory, but one of them players might find a bit tricky.

Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration phase one

Step One

“Play Rock, Paper, Scissors for a Collectible 5 Times.”

The first goal is the one players will have the most difficulty completing because it’s the trickiest of the bunch and also requires the most time to complete. Hovering over this quest gives you the following hint.

Find the Collector Kid in Gibbi Point’s Crystal Valley neighborhood and choose to Play Rock, Paper, Scissors for Collectible with him for the chance to win a collectible!

The Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block Aspiration

Do as it says and pop on over to the Crystal Valley neighborhood. It’s the one on the right of the map.

Crystal Valley Location

Once there, you’re looking for the abandoned mine. That’s where you’ll find the Collector Kid, Buddy Scoop. I’ve marked the location on the map below.

Collector Kid's location on map

The Collector Kid will be at this location from 10 am to 8 pm every day at his collectible table. Just a kid being a kid chilling at an abandoned mine by himself.

Buddy Scoop at the abandoned mine

Once you’ve located the Collector Kid you’ll need to play rock, paper, scissors for collectibles with him until you win.

Rock, paper, scissors against Buddy Scoop

Easy enough on its own. There’s a catch, however. Buddy only has so many collectibles on him at one time. For instance, my first time visiting him he only had a single item. Once I won that collectible, I couldn’t play again until the following day.

Out of collectibles

Therefore, it’s best to start with this goal as it will be the most time consuming of the bunch. While waiting for him to refresh his stock you can work on the other quests.

Step Two

“Win Rock, Paper, Scissors 5 Times.”

This is a lot simpler than the quest above because you can find any other Sim and spam playing rock, paper, scissors until your Sim wins. Then do it again and again and again until they’ve won five times.

Sims playing rock, paper, scissors

Simple as that.

Step Three

“Befriend 3 Children.”

No guide needed here. Simply have your child play with and socialize with other kids until they become friends. Not much to it, really. Just don’t be mean and you’ll have this one done in no time, especially with all of the new activities for kids added in the pack.

Step Four

“Achieve Level 4 Social Skill.”

Another simple one, but might still take a bit of time depending how many things your child is juggling at once.

There are a number of ways your child can raise their social skill. The easiest and fastest is to have them, well, socialize with other sims. They’ll naturally build this skill as they go about their day to day as long as you’re not locking them in a room by themselves all day. If you do, I’m calling Children Protective Services.

Sims will also gain social skill from socializing with animals, both alive and stuffed. The practice speech option in mirrors is a great way for the more introverted sims to gain the skill as well.

Having said that, I wouldn’t suggest introverted Sims partaking in the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration as it’s a highly social aspiration. Loner Sims will frequently feel uncomfortable in many of the steps throughout.

Seeking Admiration Phase

The second phase of the aspiration will take some time to accomplish as well. Nothing is too difficult here, but it’s all still time consuming.

Step One

“Find 5 Hiding Sims during Hide and Seek.”

This is a fun one for both Sims and the player because of how interactive it is. Have your Sim start a game of Hide and Seek and choose how many Sims will take part. Your Sim will begin counting while all of the others run off and hide.

Sims counting for Hide and Seek

Once they’re finished counting, they will begin hunting down the hiders. It’s not all up to them where they look, though. You’re also able to take part in the game and seek out the other Sims. Look for random boxes lying around or sparkling effects on different items. Once you find one, point it out to your Sim.

Sims are able to hide in a variety of items from bushes to beds to trash cans. Keep an eye out for the sparkles! It’s actually quite a challenge on bigger lots because if you zoom out too far to do a quick scan of the lot, the sparkles disappear. So you’ll need to take your time scanning the lot bit by bit while more zoomed in.

If you play with enough Sims, you can finish this goal in a single game of Hide and Seek. Otherwise keep playing until you’ve found a total of five.

Step Two

“Trade for Three New Collectibles.”

A new social option added in game is the ability to trade collectibles with other Sims. This is an excellent way to finish the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration during this step and a later step.

Once you have some collectibles, doesn’t matter what collection they’re a part of, you can trade them with any Sim for another random collectible you haven’t discovered.

Above is my Sim trading with Buddy at his collectible table, but you can trade with any Sim.

Step Three

“Achieve Level 8 Social Skill.”

Same as before, just a lot more work to get it to level 8. Some other options you have to increase your Sim’s social skill are having them chat in a kids chatroom on the computer or put on a puppet show with the puppet theatre added in the Kids Room Stuff Pack.

Step Four

“Win an Archery Competition.”

To complete this goal your Sim will first need to reach level 2 in the archery skill. Luckily for you, we have an Archery Skill Guide just for that.

Once your Sim is level 2 in the Archery Skill, they’ll be able to compete against other Sims in an archery competition. You can compete against any Sim on your current lot, you don’t even need to know them. Simply click on the archery target and choose to compete.

Archery competition

While the ability to compete unlocks at Archery Level 2, you’ll most likely need to raise the skill higher to win a competition. Keep having your Sim practice to raise their skill until they’re able to win and complete the goal.

Block Champion Phase

This is the final phase of the aspiration and arguably the easiest to complete in the entire Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration.

Block champion aspiration phase

Step One

“Make a BFF.”

With all of those friends your Sim had to make previously in the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration, and all of the different games they’ve played with them, chances are likely you’re in BFF range with at least one of them.

Once your Sim has a high enough friendship level with another Sim (80%), you can choose the social interaction “Become Best Friends Forever” under the “Change Relationship” tab of the social wheel.

Step Two

“Win 3 Competitive Games.”

This quest is quite open-ended as there are so many different ways to compete against other Sims. Rock, Paper, Scissors; Hopscotch; Video Games; Marbles; Hide ‘n’ Seek; Archery; the possibilities are near endless.

Sims playing video games

My Sim played a multiplayer game with his sister and won the first game only to lose the second and rage quit.

Keep trying a variety of games, competitions, and activities until your Sim wins three of them.

Step Three

“Complete any Collection.”

This task might seem daunting at first, but if it’s a Sim you’ve been playing for some time, you might already have a finished collection or one nearly finished.

If not, one of the easiest collections to complete for the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration is probably the new butterflies and moths collection. We’ll have a guide on the collection and the attached Entomology skill soon. In the meantime, here’s a quick rundown for you.

There are two ways to complete the butterfly and moth collection. The first is to explore all of the different areas of Gibbi Point hoping to find and catch them.

Caterpillar incubator

The easiest way, however, is to raise them yourself. You’ll first need to buy the “Flutterarium Caterpillar Incubator,” or several to make this even faster. Once purchased, you’ll be able to start raising a caterpillar. At first you’ll only be able to select a random caterpillar to raise, but as your Sim increases their Entomology skill they’ll be able to choose specific breeds.

Raising caterpillar

Keep raising these caterpillars and you’ll have a near completed collection quickly. Make sure you remember to feed them! However, there’s one butterfly you cannot raise or catch. You need to make it.

To make the Magical Origami Butterfly and complete the collection, you’ll need to raise your Sim’s origami skill to Level 2. I have a Papercraft Skill Guide to help you with that.

Once crafted, place it in the butterfly habitat and your collection is complete.

There are tons of different collections in Sims 4, and any of them will work for the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration. We have a Collections Guide for the other collections as well if insects aren’t your thing.

Aspiration Completed

Once you finish the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration your Sim will earn the “Coolest Kid” trait. This trait gives them a boost to their chances of winning at different competitions against other Sims.

Enjoy knowing you now have the Coolest Kid thanks to completing the Sims 4 Cool Kid on the Block aspiration.
