EA Reveals The Sims 4 Quality of Life Roadmap for 2026

See quality of life improvements and promises for The Sims 4 in 2026!

The Sims Team and Electronic Arts have just released a brand new official blog for The Sims 4 Quality of Life Roadmap. Revealing plans of action for improving game stability, Sim autonomy and more.

The Quality of Life Roadmap for The Sims 4 is different from the General Franchise Content Roadmap for 2026. This one talks technical challenges and obligations towards making The Sims 4 a more stable and reliable platform.

Let’s see what the roadmap for this year promises:

Quality of Life Roadmap for The Sims 4: 2026 Edition

Over the past 6 months, we’ve been sharing how we’re continuing to prioritize stability, performance, and acting on long-standing community feedback in The Sims 4. In September, we introduced our Quality of Life roadmap and then in November we updated you on progress.

Today, we’re sharing a look at our 2026 Quality of Life initiative focused on improving reliability, and reducing gameplay friction across some of the most frequently discussed areas. It’s about making the game you already play feel smoother, intuitive, and more consistent, based directly on player feedback shared in EA Forums, The Sims Discord, and more.

TS4 GENERIC FORUM HEADERS BUGS 03

While the timing and specifics may vary, here’s a look at what we’re planning to focus on over the upcoming months;

March through August

We’re going to be investigating improvements on these areas:

  • Sim autonomy: such as Sims choosing inappropriate locations for certain actions, being obsessed with certain objects, or NPC interrupting conversations and other behaviors. Additionally, a large focus on improving Sim sleeping behavior and eyelid animations.
  • Infant improvements: improving infant and caregiver autonomy, plus ensuring infants receive the correct milestones, interactions, and buffs.
  • Crashes and data loss: including fixes for black photo issues and the game freezing or crashing.

Our next batch of fixes coming in March is currently being tested by QV, where we’re expecting to ship around 55 fixes, including fixes for 7 of 10 top issues reported by players. Plus, we’ll be updating Sim autonomy improvements based on feedback we collected via our Discord community and votes in the EA Forums. Thanks to everyone who shared their feedback.

Look for our Laundry List in the coming weeks that will list out all the specific fixes!

September through December:

Later on this year, we’ll move our focus to improvements to these key themes, which might include issues like;

  • Dining & meal behavior: issues surrounding Sims eating and drinking, plus improving the overall dining experience.
  • Family trees & relationships: strengthening genealogy systems and relationship tracking to protect the important stories built across generations.
  • But wait, there’s more! We’ll respond to player feedback as we get nearer to this time to decide what to prioritize next.

The Year Ahead

The exact timing of these fixes will depend on our investigations, as some areas require deeper technical investigation. We’ll continue sharing progress, highlighting what feedback has shaped our priorities, and adjusting focus areas as needed.

We will provide updates alongside each release so you can see what has been improved and what is still in progress.

Thank you for continuing to share your feedback and experiences with us. Your input directly informs the work we prioritize.

I’m fairly happy about this so long as they actually follow through.

Brittany

I wish they would do a update on the teenage sims so they don’t just look like young adults

bridenbrad

the problem with that, is what could they technically do? change the coding so that teenagers tend to have slightly more rounded faces compared to adult sims? they already kinda do that cuz If you make a teen in cas and age them up to young adult you will see their face become slimmer and more angular as an adult than as a teen. so then what else could they do? make teens a smaller height than the adults? that would create a whole HOST of other problems for a ton of animations in game that require two sims to interact with each other because the animations between teens and adults are coded around the frame of teens and adults being the same size. the minute they make teens shorter than adults it makes ALL of those two sim interactions between a teen and an adult, break and they will no longer line up. and im sorry but maxis at this point in the games life is NOT going to go back and add all NEW animations for all teen-adult interactions to accommodate a new height difference. its too late for them to make that huge of a change now, and the only way I could see them making teens a different size in the future, is if they made a whole new game.

CrazySimmer

I feel like just making them shorter would be a night and day difference.

Alice Mills

I feel they can do something similar to the teens look from the Sims 2 games. They looked like teenagers. I know it’s a great deal of work, but it would be a game changer moving forward. And I’m still hoping for a sewing skill being added with new skills, business, college and designer career aspects. Thank you.

Same here excited to see what gets fixed first

Darkening Demise

Oh great another QOL lie roadmap just like the last one.

LJ

Please add more CAS items.

Alyssa

Ik it’s not base game but I wish they would do a pet update where the offspring can have a mix of the parents skin patterns/colors

I agree, it should be more like how they did it in sims 2 and 3, special patterns and colors

To improve my quality of life in 2026, I will not give my money to EA.

Amanda

Yep. I’m not letting my money go towards Saudi treatment of women or the Trump administration.

Tiffany

Good! We don’t need players like you bringing politics into a fun game – that’s not what the game is about

Bugfixes

Already heard this song, bugs go from Validating Report to Under Investigation and then to Verified and back to Needs More Info and then maybe to Reviewed, and then a couple of years later, to Incomplete Report.

Meanwhile, LittleMsSam and others have plenty of mods with bug fixes; there is already one for the infamous ring of the latest event!

Simmer Down?

Wow..okay. Too little too late, no? We have all these fixes thanks to mods, have had them for years. They need to completely overhaul the Sims brains and behaviours at this point to make a playable Live Mode.

CrispySims

Oh yeah, just forgot about the console players? Remember not everyone can use mods.

Keegan

The game is outdated to the core. It needs replaced, totally.

bridenbrad

YOU have all of these fixes thanks to mods, us console simmers, do not. when will pc players get their heads out of the clouds and remember that they are not the only group of gamers to exist?

CrazySimmer

Sending hugs to the constantly forgotten console players.

Chris

I totally get bug-tracking and investigations take time, especially a huge monster like TS4, but I’d expect a bit more if they’re covering the whole of 2026. This feels like a tiny team of developers spending maybe a handful of hours every few weeks.

CrazySimmer

They may just be covering themselves because we all know what would happen if they promise the sun and the moon and barley give us a single star… :/

kailee

I feel like some add ons are way to expensive in sims and the characters could be a bit more realistic

Boo

Please just add some sort of open world, even just no loading screens between lots in neighborhoods

bridenbrad

project X, the next iteration of sims single player is allegedly going to do that.

Sharebear_22

I miss the Sims 3 open world and travel. I was surprised when this wasn’t in Sims 4. Its my biggest issue with Sims 4. Load screen after load screen after load screen after load screen.

Terry

They need to put in firefighter jobs on here too

Keegan

If they milk this poor dead cow any longer it’s corpse will turn to dust.

Samarah

More realistic ethnic hairs for adults and kids and more jewelry for kids and babies

bridenbrad

more? ok kids I suppose I get, but who puts jewelry on their babies in real life? sounds like a very strange parenting choice to me.

CrazySimmer

It’s really common actually. For cultural reasons or for special occasions like weddings. They make jewelry for babies and toddlers in real life.

Miska

For example, in my country it is norm to give golden earrings(and even necklace) to the newborn girl as a gift and get her ears pierced very soon after being born.
Though i will not follow this tradition with my own children and let them choose for themselves. I just wanted to provide context that it is considered normal in some parts of the world.

Jay

Update the hospital and police station.
