User Taken Down by EA Over Cracked Sims 4 Marketplace Content Distribution

EA Have Continued to Crack Down on Piracy and Cracked Content Efforts by Creators After the Launch of The Sims 4 Marketplace

Electronic Arts has taken action against a creator accused of distributing cracked Sims 4 Marketplace content, making it clear to the community that the publisher is actively policing misuse tied to its new platform. The creator in question provided access to paid Marketplace items for free, alongside tools designed to bypass the systems that protect both official DLC and creator-made content.

We have previously covered the efforts of this creator when the marketplace sets were first cracked. The creator has released a statement addressing the take-down and their decision to take a step back from pirating. Let’s take a look at what the creator has said and how the community responded.

Sims 4 Marketplace Cracker Statement In Full

Check out the statement below, released by the individual after having been taken down by Electronic Arts.

Sims 4 Marketplace, Cracked

Final Statement: End of Project

Following recent events and legal notices that EA has taken against my name, I have decided to terminate this project immediately. All repositories, servers, and distribution channels are being permanently closed.

I want to state clearly that my intention was never to cause financial harm to Electronic Arts Inc. or to promote piracy with malicious intent. My only goal was to send a message regarding consumer rights and the current state of the game experience. However, I recognize that I am a private individual without the financial means, time, or energy to engage in a legal battle against a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Above all, I am a father and a husband. My absolute priority is the safety and peace of mind of my family. I cannot and will not put their well-being at risk for a revolutionary idea that requires a level of energy and youth that I no longer possess. I prefer to dedicate my time to those I love.

I thank EA for the game they have created and the community for their support over the years. But for me, this journey ends here. I tried my best, but there are lines a family man should never cross.

Victory is not always about winning the battle, but knowing when to walk away for the sake of what truly matters.”

God bless you all, and good night.

How Does Cracking Marketplace Content Differ From Usual Packs, And Why Are EA Taking Action Now?

One of the key differences here comes down to how The Sims 4 actually handles its content. Traditionally, Packs and Kits are downloaded directly into your game files. That’s why tools designed to “crack” DLC have existed for years; they essentially trick the game into recognising content that’s already installed as being owned by the player, just without a legitimate licence attached to it.
The Sims 4 Marketplace works differently. Marketplace purchases are tied directly to your account and are installed into your game in a more controlled way, rather than just sitting in your files ready to be toggled on or off. In simple terms, it’s about whether your account is authorised to use the content, rather than actually having the files for the content.

Content such as Live Event rewards is tied to your account, too, but can be unlocked for free rather than locked behind a paywall, which is why modders can unlock these items for players. Unlocking paid content for all players in a Discord community with thousands of members made it easy for EA to track down the creator and send them a cease-and-desist.

We’ll just have to wait for another player to publish these items for free. It’s an endless battle

Dagui

The items are not worth it, even free.

Nicole

They should have uploaded them another way. Like through sims share or something that might have been harder for EA to track them down.

JaycemeSwain

They wanted money, if they didn’t want to be reinbursed there is the well known telegram group and the other well known sharing place that could work as well

Silver

Aaron Burr Voice: “Fools that run their mouths oft wind up dead.”

Honestly. What was anyone expecting posting in such a big server about it? For EA to just sit on their hands and go, “aw, shucks, you beat us! we’ll just let you pirate stuff from the thing we specifically designed to slow down piracy.”

I’m sure there’ll be someone else taking up the torch now that it’s proven it can be done. I just hope, for their own sake if nothing else, they’re curse-wording quieter about it.

LOll

Intelligent and experienced people knows the etiquette only fools screams loudly around and expose themselves in public. Plus I didn’t trust that person after seeing that they want to people to pay them back, that’s when I knew that this either gonna be paywalled, viruses or EA’s trap to see who downloads it.

Zophorax

They were releasing everything for free, one set per week.

JaycemeSwain

Or if they were given the money to reinburse, they would do it all at once. Please don’t forget that major detail, esp as that is the full reason they got caught

Zophorax

I didn’t. Just making the point that he didn’t really paywall it. Eventually, all would have been released for free.

JaycemeSwain

He did infact paywall it, early chance to get it all at once is a paywall. Early access is a paywall even if it’ll be free later

JaycemeSwain

Serves them right for trying to be just as greedy as EA to drop it all for “free”. If they had just dropped it with any of the rebel/rider of the high seas groups instead of demanding money so they can drop it all at once(instead of dripping it weekly)

tricuspidvibes

snickering at this bc girl what did you expect?

x_120

You should also mention the creator stole THOUSANDS of donations then dipped.

Guest

Well they got it coming Giving money to a pirate, what do you expect?

CrispySims

Person should be made to give all those donations back to the people who donated.

Kittyhadmedead69

Can’t expect worse than what we have gotten from paying EA directly lmao PUHLEASE !!!

Renato

Instead of doing real piracy and give all for free in a safe space, this creator decided to act like EA. What did you expect? LMAO

Denise

EA also sends cease and desist letters to some modders that are above and beyond excellent in their creations and don’t like to reply to modders requests so more power to whoever!! I own every pack legitimately but would give my sign on info in a heartbeat if it meant screwing the upcoming sellout

Source?

Could be talking about SpinningPlumbobs. They got a cease and desist for their Fairies mod around the release of the Fairies pack, that was–at the start of the issue–thought by the Community to be from EA due to having less buggy/better gameplay.

It ended up being related to the design of one set of wings in the mod having been lifted from another game that had stolen the design from an artist who had no idea to reach out to SP before submitting the legal claim, not EA themselves, but the idea that EA sent the claim remained in circulation even after SP cleared it up later.

Satyric

He already has other account

It’s my understanding that the person in question paid $100 to crack the code and get the files (personally, I don’t know how that works, I’m not a pirate, I’ve only dressed as one for Halloween). It was his hope that people would send him donations for doing this. He figured he would release one set per week until he recouped the $100 he paid out at which time he would then release all of the sets. Some may say he had a paywall set up while others may say he didn’t if he was simply asking for donations.
