Some SimGurus changed their Twitter Profile pics to the BatGnome! If you’re not familiar with what does it mean when Gurus change their Profile Pics to this Sims version of a Batman illustration, we either get a new announcement or a new Patch (with new content) in the coming days after the picture had been changed.

Gurus didn’t stop just there though. SimGuruDaniel and SimGuruLyndsay tweeted 2 energetic tweets, probably hinting at something new coming this weekend!

The Sims Blog: Simmer Spotlight – Fuyaya

Via TheSims.com!

Making it Your Own

We’ve featured a number of North American The Sims fans in Simmer Spotlights in the past, but this week we go global. We had a chat with Fuyaya, owner of Sims Artists – a website for French Simmers looking to learn about the art of modding and creating Custom Content* in The Sims. Want to find out more about how you can download fan-made content for The Sims 4, or create some of your own? Fuyaya has some advice for you.

How long have you been playing The Sims?

I started with The Sims 2, but I think I became an “actual Sims player” in 2009. Until then I was playing alone – but The Sims 3 allowed me to get to know The Sims’ community. It was a shock to meet so many people like me, who loved the game, and also aligned with the way I approached it. It definitely completed my training as a “Sims fan”.

duc

Can you explain briefly what modding is for those who might not know?

The base game allows players to be a storyteller, a designer, or an architect, but with modding, the game becomes yours entirely. You can become a furniture designer, a fashion designer, a jewelry designer… in short, everything you see in the game can become yours to create. Modding can be a little overwhelming at first but there are accessible options for beginners.

What inspired you to get into modding?

When I discovered all the options available in the game, before joining the community, I had no idea Custom Content was even a thing. I then went on to discovering blogs and fansites and I was stunned. I started building using codes, and once I started to master something, I would translate the method into a tutorial in French, just because there were so little of them available. One thing leading to another, I figured I’d like to decorate my creations with my own CC. So I started looking at how I could do that. And I never stopped – I’m constantly moving from one thing to another: home staging, furniture, clothing, accessories, tattoos, posing…

What tools do you use for The Sims 4 modding?

I administrate a forum that we founded a little over five years ago. We aim to create tutorials in French to help teach each and every player how to create just about anything in The Sims. I still write tutorials and conduct classes, so I still need to test and experiment on all existing programs, but TSR Workshop has been my personal favorite since The Sims 3. It allows you to modify items in a very precise way. S4 Studio is also extremely intuitive and contributes to democratizing content creation by making it accessible to most.

boutique

What advice would you give to aspiring The Sims 4 modders?

Please come to my forum, Sims Artists, to learn and exchange ideas!

Just like about any learning process, you should be able to walk before you can run. One common point to most creations is the graphic part: it’s important to choose a tool and to learn how to use it. For content creation, there’s a lot you can do without having to go through learning 3D – recoloring alone provides plenty of options already. Once you’re comfortable with creation, you will develop reflexes and a better understanding of volumes, 3D will then become natural to you. Take your time to learn the techniques, be a perfectionist, be concerned with details. Some Custom Content may look simple, but an accomplished creation is better than a smokescreen.

What The Sims 4 mod or Custom Content took the most work to create?

I sometimes spend a lot of time on a new piece of clothing, because I need to compose with technical constraints and with the programs I use since they’re being improved (and modified) constantly.

In all I created, I think my kodoma is what took the most work to create. For some reason, decided I would only make it using Blender, a tool I had never used before! There’s also posing – it takes a lot of going back and forth in gaming to get natural-looking attitudes.

neo_romantique

What are your favorite The Sims 4 Mods/Custom Content?

As a player, hair is no doubt my favorite. I admire hair creators a lot, I haven’t dared to give it a try just yet.

I think that the new feature that made me happiest – the feature which made me call up my friend about it –  was the option to have in-game poses for your Sims. It’s the ending point which allows to have all of your creation aspects in one image. A model with a total look, posing in a decor you created, in a picture you fully composed.

The Sims 4: Go to School Mod Pack Announcement

Hey everyone, it’s me Zerbu! I’ve been teasing this for a while, but now it’s time for the big reveal: introducing The Sims 4 Go to School Mod Pack, currently in development!

Readers of Sims Community are getting this announcement before I post it on my blog!

GoToSchoolLogo

(Thanks SimplyNando for creating the above logo and for the name of the mod, which was previously undecided)

If you have both The Sims 4 and The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack, The Sims 4 Go to School Mod Pack allows you to follow your Child and Teen Sims to school. The mod contains two new venue types: Elementary School and High School. You can download an existing school from the gallery, or create your own, in any location in the existing worlds.

Much like the open careers in Get to Work, when it is time for your Child or Teen Sim to go to school, you will be asked whether or not you want to follow them, and if you opt to follow them, you’ll be taken to the appropriate venue. Your Sim will then be assigned goals to complete, same as with open careers, which will determine performance.

That’s not all, though! It’s not as simple as going through the same process every Sim day: the mod features introduction days, field trips, a variety of events, and for the more mischievous Sims, even the ability to play Hookie while a (off-screen) hologram does the work!

modtease

Elementary School

A normal day at Elementary School has four main goals: Draw on the Activity Table, Play the Violin, Practice Typing at the Computer, and Experiment at the Chemistry Table. Each goal consists of using these interactions for 15 minutes. Your Sim will be given two goals at once you can choose from, which will continuously cycle between these four goals.

However, when your Child Sim actively attends school for the first time, they’ll be given an introduction day. Your Sim must complete each of the four goals only once, and then they’ll be given the goal to socialize and get to know classmates.

The third day at school will always be a field trip, so all Sims will get a chance to experience one, even those not lucky enough to roll one randomly. Field trips will be explained in greater detail below.

After the third day, random field trips and events can start happening.

High School

The High School is still being planned and the details of it haven’t been locked yet, but much like Elementary School, your Sim will be assigned a series of goals. The exact goals haven’t been decided yet, though most will involve skill building. There are also plans for introduction days like with Elementary School, but the exact details of them haven’t been decided yet.

Field Trips

When a Sim leaves to actively attend school, there is a random chance that they’ll be sent to another lot on a field trip. Both Child and Teen Sims can be sent to a Library or Museum. Teen Sims can also be sent to a Gym. Each venue has its own set of goals to complete.

The chance of rolling a field trip increases depending on the Sim’s grade. grade F Sims have no chance of a field trip, and grade A Sims have the highest chance.

When a Sim has an A grade, the “Rentable” venue type becomes available as a field trip location if you have Outdoor Retreat installed. Want a free field trip to Granite Falls? Then work hard and increase your grades!

Weekly Collection Hunts

For B and A grade Sims, there is a weekly Collection Hunt, on Friday for Child Sims and Tuesday for Teen Sims. Sims will be sent to a random lot in the world, and will be assigned goals to pick up collectibles and take photos.

For A grade Sims, the Collection Hunt is completely unrestricted: Sims can be sent to any lot in the game that isn’t an owned residential lot. Will your Sim be sent to Forgotten Grotto? The science lab? The forest at Granite Falls? Or just the old Willow Creek downtown area? It’s completely unpredictable!

Costume Day

Every Wednesday, Costume Day is held at the Elementary School. On this otherwise normal school day, Sims will come dress in costumes. Have fun being surrounded by hot dogs, bears and weirdly dressed Sims!

Hookie

Of course, the mod isn’t all about working hard and succeeding. There’s also something for Sims who would rather be off having fun.

This mod brings a brand new skill for Child and Teen Sims, the “Hookie” skill. When a Sim has an F grade, there’s a random chance they’ll choose to skip school and send an (off screen) hologram to do all their work! While Sims are doing this, they will continuously build the Hookie skill. Being Energized or Focused increases the skill gain speed, although it’s a challenge to stay this way, since Sims will have a +4 Tense Moodlet because what they’re doing is risky – you’ll need to have enough fun to override it.

Once a Sim has reached level 2 of the Hookie skill, they are no longer required to be an F grade in order to skip school – they can randomly choose to do so any time.

To start with, Hookie will always take place on the home lot and the surrounding public space. As the Hookie skill increases, there will be more lots available for a Sim to be randomly sent to, until it’s eventually completely unrestricted.

* NOTE: Right now, parts of the mod (field trips to Rentable lots, the unrestricted Collection Hunt and high levels of the Hookie skill) depends on the fact that the game doesn’t block hidden lots and destination worlds from being chosen for career events. I can’t guarantee that this won’t change in future patches. If it ever does, I’ll try everything I can to fix it, but even then I can’t promise, so try not to get too attached to events that take place Granite Falls or hidden lots.

I hope you all have fun with the mod when it’s released! If any of you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave them in the comments! I can’t guarantee that everything suggested will make it into the mod, but I’m trying to make it as big as possible. Not everything about the mod has been finalized, so there might be more features than is being announced here!

The Sims 4: Special Mod Announcement Coming Tomorrow!

The Sims 4 Get to Work Review

Pandora’s box has been open: The Sims 4’s first expansion pack is out now in both digital and retail stores! Just as The Sims 3’s EPs, Get to Work costs $40. Is the pack worth the price tag? Read our review below to find out!

reviewnote

This review is based on 12 days of gameplay (approx. 3-4 hours each day). I didn’t want to jump to conclusions right after the game’s release, as I wanted to see if the game was still fun after sufficient time. With this review I want to give a valid recommendation to Simmers who would like to use the features of this pack as much as they can.

Create A Sim

Each sim’s story begins in CAS. This pack is… well… packed with new hairstyles, clothing, accessories and makeup. All the new styled looks and clothing pieces have a variety of urban, retro and modern styles that mesh perfectly with the base game clothing. Sadly, the lack of new traits and aspirations won’t allow you to make your sim’s personality more colorful.

TS4 2015-04-03 10-03-39-71 TS4 2015-04-03 10-03-46-75 TS4 2015-04-03 10-05-01-55 TS4 2015-04-03 10-05-05-25 TS4 2015-04-03 10-06-24-52 TS4 2015-04-03 10-07-25-91

Instead, you can actually create colorful alien sims straight from CAS! Just click the + button and select ‘Create An Alien’ to add your very own extra-terrestrial into your household. Aliens have plenty of customization options with new makeup, but unfortunately they only have 2 similar types of glowing clothes to wear. Fret not, you’ll be able to dress them in human clothing by going to live mode and purchasing clothes from the dressed mannequins.

TS4 2015-04-24 21-10-31-49 TS4 2015-04-24 21-10-42-55 TS4 2015-04-24 21-10-54-42 TS4 2015-04-24 21-11-02-07

Only 1 new (visible) neighborhood is featured with this pack, Magnolia Promenade, a retail neighborhood. It features vibrant parks, waterside views, and 3 prebuilt retail lots where you can “shop ’till you drop.”

04-01-15_10-47 AM 04-01-15_10-46 AM 04-01-15_10-45 AM 04-01-15_10-48 AM-3 04-01-15_8-11 PM-3 04-01-15_8-11 PM

Willow Creek and Oasis Springs are unchanged, so you won’t notice anything new when wandering around there. But hey, the name of this pack is Get to Work, not Get to Home, so I’m not too disappointed that my sim’s living area isn’t fresh.

There are 3 new active careers: detective, doctor and scientist. You can pick one by finding a job using your sim’s phone or computer.

TS4 2015-04-06 12-48-38-87

Detective Career

Relive the thrilling, classical noir movie magic by joining the detective career!

The first 3 days as a detective are introductory and give you instructions and tips on where you can find mandatory objects, how to introduce yourself to co-workers and how to treat felons. After that, you’re on your own to either sit all day, drink coffee and play video games or to protect and serve! If you picked the second option, congratulations, you’re worthy enough to lead your Sims to the top of their career!

04-13-15_2-19 PM

The first levels of the detective career are somewhat easy – you file paperwork, patrol neighborhoods and distribute citations for crimes such as littering and fighting. The more you level up, the more serious tasks your sim will receive. Depending on the day (and the randomness of the detective career tracker on top left) you’ll have to visit a crime scene. After the well known loading screen, your detective will find himself/herself on a residential lot in any of two base worlds. Like you’ve probably seen in the movies, Sims have to search for clues, collect evidence and fingerprints and get witness reports. Not all clues can be seen at once though; you have to click on the ground and select ”search for clues” which will cause new clues in the room to appear.

04-13-15_1-49 AM-4 04-13-15_1-49 AM 04-13-15_1-51 AM

I find it quite funny how most witnesses are found in beds crying after your arrival but several moments later they’re up and feeling happy while talking with your fellow detectives. There’s a chalk stroke of a potentially dead sim on the ground and witnesses are making jokes of Sunset Valley? Well, that’s The Sims 4 for ya’!

Back at the police station you’ll have to analyze DNA samples from the collected evidence. If you want to catch your criminal, starting a crime map is much needed. Connected all the clues? It’s time to catch that nasty law breaker. Yup, that also means another loading screen.

04-13-15_2-18 PM TS4 2015-04-13 14-18-53-67 04-13-15_1-30 AM-2

There will be plenty of sims roaming the premises, but who’s the real criminal? Your notebook (Phone > Notebook icon on the top) has clues that can help you. For example: This sim is wearing a jacket, this sim is a teen, this sim is female.  You can ask other sims nearby if they’ve seen someone matching the description, and they’ll point in the direction of the perp. Once you’re sure you found the right suspect, you can arrest him/her. You can attempt to arrest any sim on the lot, but arresting the wrong person will result in a performance points loss. The criminal needs to be taken to the police station and yes, you’re absolutely right, the loading screen will keep you company. The career tracker interface will tell you everything you need to do with suspects: scan fingerprints, search the suspect, interrogate them, and eventually lock the suspect in a cell.

04-13-15_1-56 AM 04-13-15_1-56 AM-3 04-13-15_2-22 PM 04-13-15_2-36 PM-4 04-13-15_2-39 PM 04-13-15_2-40 PM-2

TS4 2015-04-13 14-45-07-43

Sims who do a good or fantastic job after the work shift will receive an average or above average paycheck, while Sims who do an awful job will receive their base pay with no bonus.

TS4 2015-04-13 14-45-22-18

The career possibilities I mentioned above cannot be done in one day. It’s a series of days that finally lead to catching a criminal. After that you can search for new cases, take mugshots/fingerprints of existing Sims and anything else that’s required from you in order to do a good job. My personal favorite is going on patrols and waiting for sims nearby to start a fight!

I wish the loading screens could be cut somehow because their annoyance is really doubled with this career, but thankfully the police station is always fully packed with co-workers, witnesses and suspects. Overall, great stories await you as a Detective!

Doctor Career

Detectives may be protecting the town from invasive criminals, but who’s guarding sims from all new types of invasive illnesses? Doctors!

TS4 2015-04-13 14-53-11-68

The first levels of the doctor career aren’t that hard: you take care of the hospital’s hygiene by mopping the floors and making patient’s beds, examine and treat patients and meet your coworkers. Another of your duties is updating your patient’s medical records on the computer.

TS4 2015-04-13 15-01-04-80

The entire treatment of a patient includes several steps. After taking a patient from the reception to an exam room you have to find a proper diagnosis by doing a series of tests such as checking ears, eyes, temperature, or even analyzing their X-Ray. Although, X-Rays and delivering babies are unlocked on higher levels of the doctor career. Not all sims have unknown diseases. Patients with blue hearts above their head need to be diagnosed and treated. Patients with red hearts above their head are diagnosed but untreated.

TS4 2015-04-13 15-02-18-18

As you progress, house calls will often be prompted on the career tracker. It’s really similar to taking care of patients in the hospital, only you go to them!

Giving a sim the right diagnosis isn’t always easy. Just like detectives have to find the right criminal, doctors have to find the right disease in order to treat their patient properly. As you run tests you’ll get less and less diseases prompted. My advice: if you have a weak diagnosis (which will prompt 4 diseases) don’t play with your patient’s well-being if you want to promote your sim. Keep doing tests and medical referrals until you get a compelling diagnosis which will let you diagnose one of the two prompted diseases. You’ll have to decide on the disease by observing the patient’s symptoms. For example, if the patient is feeling dizzy, has stars floating above his/her head and has whirly spots on his/her skin, that means the patient has the starry eyes disease that you can treat with meds.

TS4 2015-04-13 15-06-26-91 TS4 2015-04-13 14-54-42-33 TS4 2015-04-13 14-58-22-13

TS4 2015-04-13 15-05-35-35

There’s something about this Career that I really like. The way sims feed other patients and pat their shoulder, how they communicate and do their best to deliver a proper diagnosis and how the hospital has it’s own unique objects for you to use and progress. My personal favorite is the medical treadmill.

04-04-15_4-24 PM-2

Let’s not forget the way doctors deliver babies! It’s been unknown for so long, but we finally know that when delivering a baby in a hospital, pregnant sims will have their baby pulled out of their stomach with a small crane. Sims and technology really did evolve in The Sims 4!

04-13-15_2-57 PM

Daily tasks won’t repeat in the same order every day, so your sims and you will have lots of entertaining hours to spend at the hospital.

Scientist Career

Euronka? That’s simlish for eureka. The word is often spouted after acknowledging scientific breakthroughs, which are crucial for the scientist career. As a scientist you’ll have work to do at both your home and the science lab!

04-01-15_8-33 PM-3

At home your duty is to get as many scientific breakthroughs as your scientist career level allows.

At the FutureTech Lab, you can put those breakthroughs to good use by creating inventions or concocting serums. Some inventions and serums require certain metals, crystals or herbs. Luckily the lab is built in a lush desert where collectables around every corner is not a rare sight. Some career tasks require you to ask your co-workers for metals/crystals/herbs, so if you’re not in the mood for a scavenger hunt, this will help. Some of your daily tasks include watering plant specimens, discussing inventions with coworkers, and working on a rocket. There are much more tasks and objects to discover as you level up!

TS4 2015-04-13 16-52-12-44 TS4 2015-04-13 16-50-10-84 TS4 2015-04-13 16-29-38-61 TS4 2015-04-13 16-28-42-53  TS4 2015-04-13 16-26-10-04

The inventions your sims creates are beneficial not only during work, but after hours as well.  The satellite dish, for example, can prevent aliens from abducting your sims. Or you control your entire neighborhood’s emotions and needs.

TS4 2015-04-13 15-57-48-39 04-13-15_4-00 PM TS4 2015-04-13 16-01-02-50

The SimRay has a plethora of interactions, which can all be unlocked through continuous upgrades. It’s mind control function allows you to control sims that cannot be controlled otherwise. There are several mind control actions such as sleep, eat, clean, panic, change outfit, and sit (really not that useful but okay). Beside the mind control functions, there are 2 other upgradable features for the SimRay – transform object and transform sim. Transform object can change any object you select to an object with similar value, while transform sim will change your victim’s skin tone and hair. Some sims will like the change, some won’t.

TS4 2015-04-13 15-47-13-40 TS4 2015-04-13 16-10-04-59 TS4 2015-04-13 16-27-25-09

Another big invention that you’ll find useful is the cloning machine. It can clone any object you place on this invention which will save your household a lot money. But, the SimGurus didn’t just stop there! They’ve added an upgradable option that lets you clone any Sim that stands on the cloning machine.

Overall, this Career will fit any simmer who likes to collect rare collectables or create new objects. I LOVE the SimRay my Sim has created. Not only because it freezes Sims, but because when upgraded, it lets you transform almost any object.

Unlike detectives and doctors, scientists can create and collect so many things that they can take home, and most inventions they create are useful for everyday use (like freezing uninvited guests – that will teach them for showing up unannounced!).

The Retail System

Our prayers have been answered – the Retail System is finally back with Get to Work!

There are 3 ways to begin your Business adventure:

  • By purchasing any of the existing retail lots in Magnolia Promenade
  • By downloading & purchasing a retail lot from The Gallery
  • By building your own store

First I had to transfer Simoleons from my residental lot to my blank retail lot. Then I downloaded an official retail lot from MaxisCreator_01 – the Electronics Store. I opened up the store and just 30 sim minutes later my store was packed with customers. The blue bar above a customer’s head represents their interest in an item they want to purchase. You can raise that bar by answering customer’s questions, discussing price range and other retail social interactions. If more sims are interested in purchasing, it’s easier for you to start a group discussion and take care of everyone at once.

If you played The Sims 2 Open For Business Expansion Pack, you’ll see that the retail system generally stayed the same. Yes, tablets have replaced cash register when checking out customers. Yes, the rank system of your store like we had in TS2 is gone, but Get to Work also introduced some fresh new changes to running a business.

You can purchase advertising using the cash register to enroll some new customers into your store! Although, I find this feature very unnecessary, mostly because the more customers you have, the more sims you’ll have to ring up in a short time. If you don’t ring them up in time, they’ll reconsider their purchase decision.

TS4 2015-04-22 09-49-16-39 TS4 2015-04-22 09-40-22-97

Although there is a way to hire employees to help you out, they won’t help you much. You’ll have to pay them a certain amount of simoleons per hour and they rarely do anything. You assign them work tasks that they do for 2-3 hours (such as restocking or ringing up customers) and then they either just chat with customers, play video games on the computer or go home because their shift (that you have no idea how much it lasts) is over.

TS4 2015-04-22 09-45-00-73

The retail system can blend in with any store idea you have. You can build bakeries, furniture stores, photography studios (yes, there’s a new photography skill with this pack), clothing stores with mannequins that you can dress and more!

This aspect of the Get to Work Expansion Packs promises a lot of fun, but only if you have enough patience and time to keep up the pace with your customers. Personally, I find running retail stores in The Sims 4 quite stressful, especially since employees don’t want to co-operate. There are certain perk points that can make things somewhat easier, but that doesn’t make your retail experience much smoother. You may find running a retail store entertaining, but for me, this is an aspect that should’ve had more time dedicated during development of Get to Work.

Aliens

The all-time favorite life form in The Sims is back with Get to Work!

Aliens are now modernized with glowing clothes and urban colorful make-up.

There are 2 ways to find aliens: through abduction or by searching for them in neighborhoods.

Abductions happen ever so often at night. All you need to do is get your sim outside and play the waiting game until it finally happens. Your sim will be gone for 2 hours and when they return they’ll either be happy or angry that they got abducted.

If your abducted sim is male, that sim will slowly grow his stomach every day, until he realizes he has to give a birth to an alien baby. If you don’t want the baby, just click on the alien crib and select ”Send to Homeworld”.

Aliens can wear sim disguises to hide their true form from others. You can alter their disguises in Create-A-Sim to make them look however you want. Give them basic hair and clothes and make them act normal in front of other sims. If they start using their alien powers (such as empathize), sims will find out their true form and that might give them an embarassed buff.

Scientists can build a wormhole generator which, after being upgraded, can send your Sim to a new dimension – planet Sixam!

04-22-15_10-31 AM 04-22-15_10-31 AM-2 04-22-15_10-27 AM 04-22-15_10-27 AM-5 04-22-15_10-30 AM 04-22-15_10-26 AM-2

Alien world Sixam acts like any other hidden neighborhood. It has rare plants, rare collectables and rare decor. You might also find and befriend some aliens!

When clicking on the portal to go back home, you also have an option to go home with a certain alien you met.

All in all, aliens are a cool addition to the game. As you play and interact with them, you’ll find that, besides colorful skin, pointy ears and digitalized voices, they still have a very similar character to regular sims.

Verdict

After playing this Expansion Pack for 3 weeks now, I can honestly say that I had a blast doing so!

What I like: Not all features will be shown to you in an instant. Normally if you play all the features all at once, you’ll easily get bored, but with Get to Work that’s not the case. After 3 weeks I still haven’t discovered new baking recipes, any of the photography skill, or some of the new objects. As you dig beyond the surface of this pack, you’ll see that there’s always something more for you to play and discover.

What I dislike: The lack of focus towards the retail system. The employees you hire don’t do anything and without their full attention, ringing up customers and stocking objects is a disaster.

Overall: 3 new Active Careers, Retail System, new neighborhoods, 2 new Skills, Aliens, and a plethora of new objects, clothing and interactions will certainly make the entire Sims 4 experience enjoyable for you!

Score: 9.5 / 10

The 0.5 points were taken away because of retail employee bugs, but don’t worry, The Sims Studio is working on making Employees more useful.

This game is certainly worth the $40 that I paid for.

The Sims Blog: 6 Things to try as a Detective

0

Via TheSims.com!

You might have already heard about some of the cool things your Sim can do saving lives as a Doctor or running a store in The Sims 4 Get to Work* Expansion Pack. This week, we wanted to focus on the Detective career to talk about how you can make the most of your crime-solving skills.

We’ve uncovered six things you should try out while you work your way up to the Chief of Police!

TS4_481_DETECTIVE_TIPS_01_002

Find hidden clues at a crime scene. Learning how to properly sweep a crime scene for clues is paramount to success as a Detective. Sometimes, you’ll be able to see clues scattered around – things like burnt or damaged objects, graffiti, or stolen goods. Other times, you’ll need to utilize your Sim’s innate abilities. Clicking on the ground and selecting the “Search for Clues” interaction will highlight those pesky hidden clues for your Sim.

Give your Detective the “Observant” reward trait for optimal sleuthing. One of the clues you can uncover about a suspect is linked to their traits. They might be a “Loner” or they could be “Ambitious.” And while these are things you’ll be able to find by conversing with different suspects, you can speed things up with the Observant trait. Unlocking this with Satisfaction points will allow your Sim to automatically identify the traits of any Sim they meet. A Sim that can identify the perp just by talking to them? That sounds like one half of a Prime Time TV Cop Drama!

Get some friendly encouragement from the Chief. Have some time to kill in the Police Station between cases? The Chief of Police has some fantastic dialog that’ll pop up on the top right of your screen, so be sure to spend some time chatting with your boss. The Chief doesn’t really pull punches, so only go chat if you want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

TS4_422_DECTECTIVE_3_002a

Search your Perp to see what they’ve got hidden in their pockets. Once you’ve found your suspect, it’s back to the Police Station for booking. But before your Sim interrogates them, they might want to check that the perp’s pockets are empty. You don’t want them sneaking any knives or… fish… into the cell with them.

Place a One-Way Mirror in your home or business. One of the rewards you can unlock while playing the Detective Career is the One-Way mirror, which is a window on one side, and a mirror on the other. But just because it’s unlocked with the Detective doesn’t mean you can’t use it in your home or business! There are all sorts of creative ways to take advantage of this cool object.

Play good cop/bad cop mind games during an interrogation. Because, let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than watching cops in movies and TV shows go from “I’m on your side, I love llamas too!” to “Admit it! You stole the pie from Bella Goth’s kitchen!” Now, your Sim can be that crazy cop!
