Eolwyn has both the lumber and stone the Build Master requested but she decides to make a stop at the Village Shoppe to pick up a few things, first.
Many things can be purchased and sold at the Village Shoppe. The inventory changes daily so it’s a good idea to pay a visit every day to see what’s available. Since Eolwyn’s getting a little hungry and will need to eat soon in order to avoid getting a negative buff that will lower her Focus, I pick up some cheap ingredients for cooking. Pigeon meat, onions and turnips are great ingredients for budget-minded Heroes to stock up on; they don’t cost much and make the difference between eating nasty gruel and enjoying a good stew that leaves your Hero with a positive buff.
This is also where you can pick up armour and weapon upgrades for your combat-oriented Heroes. It’s a good idea to equip your Heroes with better armour and weapons as soon as you can, but since these things are pretty pricey, I hold off on that for right now. We just started playing and the Royal Treasury isn’t exactly overflowing yet.
While out shopping, Eolwyn runs into another situation where I have to make a decision for her. An old woman approaches her and offers her a powerful reward if she answers one question; which quality in her kingdom does Eolwyn value more? Safety or power? Because Eolwyn is both Entitled and full of Hubris, I choose power. The old woman rewards her with a new sword with better stats than her simple longsword. However, if I had chosen safety, my Monarch would have been given a nice set of armour, instead.
All in all, not a bad trip to the Village! Eolwyn returns with her new sword (which I equip in her personal inventory right away before I forget) and some fresh ingredients to improve both her meals and her Focus.
It seems everyone is in need of Queen Eolwyn’s help today because as soon as Eolwyn sets foot back in the kingdom, a peasant comes running up to her in a panic, begging her for assistance. Well we can’t just leave him here like this, can we? Let’s check on his safety.
He reveals that someone was bullying him in the Town Square and begs Eolwyn to put a stop to the rude Sim’s mean ways. I’m not sure that’s a matter for the Queen to get involved in, but since we’re here and this is one of our quest tasks, we should probably help. Besides, exercising the Monarch’s authority is always fun!
Eolwyn finds the culprit in the Town Square and uses her authority as the Monarch to have him sent to the stocks for his misbehaviour. The Constable arrests him and it’s off to the Judgement Zone with this unlucky peasant! Let’s go watch the punishment unfold, shall we?
Eolwyn makes her way over to the Judgement Zone and watches the Constable lock up the rude Sim in the stocks. We now have a task to add a little extra dose of humiliation to the Sim’s punishment by throwing an egg at him. Well that sounds like fun for Eolwyn at least. She happily lobs a gooey mess at the Sim’s head while he’s locked up. Ah, it’s good to be Queen!
As exciting as that unexpected detour was, the Build Master is still waiting on that lumber and stone. It’s also getting a bit late in the day. Let’s head back to the throne room to deliver the goods and take care of some motives.
It looks like two visitors have arrived at the throne room seeking an audience with the Queen; an elegant young merchant selling jewellery and perfumes and a dashing bard who knows his way around a lute. Both seem interested in our Queen in a more… intimate way. An intriguing development.
At this point in our quest, we can choose the next step to take. We can romance the bard or the merchant. Many quests have more than one way to complete them. Don’t be reluctant to take on the same quest twice! Playing the same quest over again can still be a vastly different experience depending on the initial approach you select, which Heroes you use, and the choices you make throughout the quest. There are surprises waiting behind every decision!
In this case, Eolwyn chooses the beautiful merchant. I think an elegant merchant of refined taste would be the most attractive to Eolwyn out of the two. It’s time to put the moves on this lovely visitor. Socialising works the same way in The Sims Medieval as it did in The Sims 3 so veteran players of the main series won’t have difficulty navigating relationships. Eolwyn turns up her charm and begins wooing the beautiful young lady.
Will she accept Eolwyn’s flower after some flirtatious conversation and eyelash-batting? It appears so!
I believe only SIms with the Whale Ate My Parents trait can go hunt for whale meat.
All Sims can hunt whales, but only Sims with the Whale Ate My Parents trait can go on revenge-related whale hunts and come back with a moodlet related to that trait. 🙂
