Perfect Companion Packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits looks to be a jam-packed expansion with plenty of content to explore on its own. However, one of the best aspects of The Sims 4 is how well so much of the DLC works together to give a fuller experience. Let’s look at some of the past DLC releases that I think will work incredibly well as companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits.

I’ll be choosing two different packs from each DLC type: expansions, game packs, stuff packs, and kits.

Companion Packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits

Expansion Packs

Growing Together

As the upcoming expansion includes so much new content for child sims, it would be impossible not to suggest Growing Together as one of the first companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits. Let’s be honest, it’s not often that packs include new gameplay for children. Thankfully, so much of the upcoming expansion focuses on the growth and development of children. Adding in all of the childhood content from Growing Together will have your child Sims feeling more alive than ever before.

Sim splashes at the splash park in Growing Together

The new modular playground equipment will work wonderfully with the modular splash pad equipment included in the Growing Together expansion pack. Growing Together also added several child aspirations, the child confidence system, and plenty of new activities for kids like learning to ride bikes and making friendship bracelets.

Name a better vibe than exchanging bracelets with friends from summer camp.

Island Living

What better location for a relaxing wellness retreat than the island of Sulani? Island Living already feels like a vacation pack without actually being a vacation pack, so these two expansions will work incredibly well together. The island vibes are just what your Sims need for their latest health and wellness retreat to energize them for that next promotion. The world alone makes this one of the great companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits.

Island Living one of the packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits

Only time will tell, but hopefully the new activities introduced in Adventure Awaits will be possible in other worlds like Sulani as well. Kayaking in the ocean. Pan sifting the beaches for little treasures. Catching butterflies around the island.

One aspect we know will really pop off with the two expansions together is recreating the hit reality show Survivor by creating a challenge retreat on the beach. Sulani really is the best world partner world for everything being introduced in Adventure Awaits.

Game Packs

Spa Day

I believe this is the absolute best of the companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits, even better than the aforementioned expansion packs. Spa Day adds so many amazing activities for your health and wellness retreats.

To accompany the new free weights, stationary bikes, and blenders, you’ll also have access to yoga, massages of all kinds, saunas, mud baths, and more. Your Sim can do a guided yoga class in the morning followed by spin class in the afternoon to get themselves back into shape.

Sim getting a massage

With Spa Day being the only pack to receive a pack refresh years ago, it became better than ever. Manicures and pedicures, face masks, three new aspirations, a new trait. If you looked past it previously, it’s definitely time for you to take another look at one of the greatest companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits.

Parenthood

Much like Growing Together, this is another of the best companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits because of its focus on child Sims. Parenthood helps flesh out children by introducing the character values system. Every action your child Sim does affects their character values and having a low or high enough score in each of the five different categories can lead them to develop a different trait.

Character Values screen

This system along with the new Formative Moments system in Adventure Awaits will make your children all feel unique from one another, making their lives feel fuller and richer than ever before. If you’re looking to create well-rounded children, it’s one of the companion packs for The Sims Adventure Awaits just for you.

Stuff Packs

Kids Room Stuff

Sim watching a puppet show

Kids Room Stuff is one of the cheaper packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits because of the new activities it adds for children. These activities are especially perfect for kids staying at a summer camp. Collecting, trading, and battling Voidcritter cards is a fantastic way for child Sims to create lasting friendships at camp. The puppet theater is another fun activity for child Sims to do together because two Sims can put on a show together for other Sims to watch. Any pack that adds new activities for children is a good pack in my eyes.

Fitness Stuff

Sims climbing rock wall

While the previously mentioned stuff pack adds new activities for children on summer camp retreats, this of the companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits adds new activities for adults on a wellness retreat. The climbing wall is a fun way for Sims to increase their fitness skill alongside the new workout equipment in the upcoming expansion. The included headphones are an excellent addition for any Sim looking to jam out to their own music while exercising without interrupting other sims.

Kits

Poolside Splash

Sims sitting at pool

Swimming pools are an often overlooked and forgotten aspect of the game. There are few companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits based on the new pool activities. Poolside Splash is one of the few. Your Sims need to look their best as they zip down the new pool slides or show off some crazy flips from the new diving boards. Poolside Splash adds new swimwear to ensure your Sims have the freshest fits at the pool.

Little Campers

Sims watching an outdoor movie

You can probably tell how this is one of the better companion packs for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits just based on the name. It includes incredibly cute objects that will work wonderfully for your child Sims at summer camp. An outdoor projector screen made with a blanket, a play tent made of bedding, s’mores decorative objects for campfires, and more. These objects will all feel their best at summer camp in Gibbi Point.

September 2025: Sims 4 Base Game Update

On September 18, PC and Mac players can expect a Base Game Update. We are pulling forward the release from its originally scheduled launch to allow additional time for us to quickly identify and address any potential issues that may take place across players’ various setups and game configurations.

This also provides space for mod creators to update their content prior to the launch of the Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack. Before the game update, we will release the TDESC files in The Sims Discord for those who need time to support and maintain any mods or custom content.

Console players will see this update on September 23 after it goes through additional verification. Since PC and Mac will be on a newer game version until the PlayStation & Xbox update on September 23, console players will need to use the PlayStation and Xbox filters in the Gallery until you receive the update.

More information will be provided in the Laundry List on September 16, and in the Patch Notes released on September 18.

The Current State of The Sims Project Stories

19

It’s been a while since we’ve had any form of news about The Sims Project Stories. In fact, the last time we reported on the on this The Sims Labs mobile game was back in early March 2025!

However, despite the time between updates, we have some exciting new screenshots from @thesimaccess over on X. They have shared a dozen new screenshots showing that The Sims Project Stories is still very much alive and continuing to be updated periodically.

New The Sims Project Stories News

Twelve new images showcasing some of the new features and general quality of life updates made to The Sims Project Stories.

So, let’s break down these new images and see what has changed!

Promotional Images

Firstly, we’ve got a few new promotional images for The Sims Project Stories. Each features a new tagline that hints at and promotes the various features within the game.

You can also spot some familiar faces, such as Bob Pancakes and Bella Goth, as well as the much-loved Cowplant.

While we find ourselves wondering why there is a Cowplant just sitting, causing chaos in the middle of the road, it does make you think what is so haunting about Plumbrook’s past!

Building naturally appears to still play a big part in The Sims Project Stories, and appears to work in a similar way to how it does in The Sims Mobile currently.

Plumbrook Screenshots

Next up, we’ve got a handful of screenshots that showcase some locations within Plumbrook.

The first three images showcase some different areas and homes in Plumbrook. WE get a rough idea as to what some of the homes look like, but additionally, another glance at The Sims Project Stories user interface, our Sims’ profile on screen and also some energy bolts in the world.

TSTownStories 10

It also appears that the more you progress through The Sims Project Stories, the more areas you can unlock. It will be interesting to find out how that is possible in the future.

It looks like one of the unlockable areas will be the Goth Family Glade, which certainly is not haunted!

TSTownStories 8

Purchasing Additional Objects

Want more objects and items in the game? Then fear not, as in another one of the new images from The Sims Access, it looks like there are some purchasable items you can buy.

While it is not yet confirmed how, these could be bought by using in-game currency, completing certain criteria or by purchasing using your local currency.

TSTownStories 7

New Mini Games?

Another one of the screenshots also shows what appears to be another new mini-game. It appears that players are required to match a particular number of matching gems to eliminate them to help win.

This is not the first time we have seen glimpses of the mini-games. We last reported on them earlier this year when new information was revealed.

TSTownStories 12

In-Game Surveys

In addition to the above images, there appears to be a new survey that was shared in this latest The Sims Project Stories update. Although we only see the one question shown in the image below, it does have us wondering what the other thirteen questions were about.

The Sims Project Stories Features

So, what do we know so far?

We know the basic features of The Sims Project Stories that we reported in our previous posts; however, to this date, we have not seen much in the way of updates or major news releases from The Sims Labs Team.

While at a glance it looks like it combines several aspects from both The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile. It’s important to remember that The Sims Project Stories is not a successor to previous mobile games from The Sims but a standalone instead.

5 Features We Noticed In The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Gameplay Trailer

Let’s Go! Adventure Awaits!

After much anticipation, The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits gameplay trailer has arrived! With all of the hullabaloo that the early reveal of this expansion has entailed, I’m sure we’re all curious to see what’s in store.

So far, we’ve been introduced to an amazing variety of new—and returning!—features with the initial reveal trailer. So join me in absolutely shredding apart the gameplay trailer to learn as much as possible about the upcoming expansion!

1) Gibbi Point: Our Home Away from Home!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 39 screenshot 1

Welcome to Gibbi Point! This New Zealand-inspired world will be the setting for our upcoming adventures! Thanks to an EA blog post, we know this world’s three neighborhoods: Wanderwood Wilds, Jellyfish Junction, and Crystal Valley. It also has twelve available lots.

The premade Getaway locales of Revive & Thrive, Love Highland, and Camp Gibbi Gibbi are split among the three. The gameplay trailer seems to have primarily taken place in Camp Gibbi Gibbi’s neck of the woods, so we’re looking forward to any other teasers looking at the neighboring locations in the world!

2) Imaginary Friends: Just Little Guys

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 0 34 screenshot 1

I don’t think “an Imaginary Friend narrates the trailer” was on anyone’s bingo card. These The Sims 3 classics are returning with a wonderful new coat of paint. Not only do they receive a much-needed (and less horrifying) visual upgrade, but they also now have four archetypes. We see all four in their doll form: Goofball, Evil, Creative, and Competitive. Though we only see two of them as child-like entities playing with Sim children.

Imaginary Friends will only be visible to Sim children as they play together. They appear exclusively in their doll form when viewed by an adult, similarly to the monster under the bed from The Sims 4 Parenthood. From the interactions shown, it seems that these whimsical creatures play almost exactly like a Child Sim. Joining their playmate in video games, hide and seek, and even the new interaction of Rock, Paper, Scissors!

Imaginary Friends not only act as companions to Sim children, but also give buffs! As seen in the trailer, Imaginary Friends can bestow an “Imaginary Boost”. We aren’t aware of what this boost may exactly entail yet, but from the looks of those rainbows and the Child Sim’s excitement? It must be something special.

But life isn’t all playing games and eating fairy bread. Sometimes, it’s about growing up. Sims are also able to “Say Goodbye Forever” to an Imaginary Friend that they may have outgrown. They can, conversely, also choose to embrace the whimsy and “Offer to make real” to an Imaginary Friend whom they can’t live without. This choice leads to the Imaginary Friend becoming a real boy and turning into a playable Sim!

We currently aren’t aware if they’ll be BuildBuy-able, or if your Sims’ thrice-removed great aunt will send them to you in a mysterious package, but we’ll keep you posted when we become aware.

3) Getaways: Say Hello to Something New!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 1 29 screenshot

The star of the show was Getaways! This upcoming system in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits allows Simmers to create custom experiences through its in-depth settings. Not only does it allow players to create scheduled itineraries for the new Custom Venus, but it also adds the ability to add Rules to their Getaways!

These Rules enhance gameplay with a variety of variables, from the skill-enhancing “Grindset Mindset” to the gameshow-esque process of elimination rules. Players will be given a wide range of tools to curate experiences for their Sims. Players are also able to set scheduled itineraries, planning activities to happen for both times of day and week. Getaways can even be scheduled to happen every week.

The use of the phrase “experiences” is specific—Do you love the drama and romance of the show Love Island? Make your own! Have you always wondered if your buffest Sim could make it in Survivor? Set off and create your courses! This pack is seemingly a love letter to the challenges created by the community. Much like The Sims 4 Businesses and Hobbies, it’s the base for an infinite array of possibilities.

So, from something as benign as a Bed and Breakfast to a full-scale recreation of your favorite trashy reality show, this is your pack!

4) Formative Moments: Change The Direction of Lives Forever!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 18 screenshot

Aren’t most formative moments at summer camp, anyway?

Formative Moments are a type of challenge coming in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits. They seem to be exclusive to Child Sims so far, but that’s to be seen.

These challenges are a series of prompts triggered through skill gain that a Child Sim can complete. This leads to permanent buffs that follow them into their adulthood and enhance emotional states.

While Formative Moments seem to be tied to skill progression, as shown with the Child in the trailer, there may be other gameplay beats that can trigger them. Hopefully, in future pre-pack content, we’ll be given a deeper look into this interesting feature.

5) Custom Venus: Inspiration Ahoy!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 3 22 screenshot

Another lot type is coming to The Sims 4: Custom Venus! These multi-function lots are customizable to have set schedules, rules, and behaviors for Sims to interact with. There also seem to be Roles that a Sim could fill, from straightforward role types such as “staff” to the more unique “custom role”. There is also a pre-set Role library that players can crib from for ease or inspiration.

It seems that Custom Venus is made with some specificity in mind. Not only as potential locations for Getaways, but also to be used as something more mundane. The bakery we’re given in the trailer as an example hosts a cooking competition. So it’s more than likely that the same bakery can be used as a cooking school! We’re eager as always for more information on these new lot types.

As always, Custom Venus can be created by the individual Simmer or exported from a community member via the Gallery! I know all the builders are eager to get to work to plan Venus ahead of release.

Sim It and See!

Developers Share New Info On Adventure Awaits In The Imaginary Friends Q&A

The latest Expansion Pack, The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits, launches in just under a month on October 2nd. In the lead-up, developers are hosting several Q&A sessions on the pack’s biggest features over on The Sims’ official Discord server.

This series of live Q&As would previously be held on Twitter/X, but this time, Simmers can get all their answers in one centralised space, Discord! These Q&As offer a closer look at the new Imaginary Friends, Townies, Lore, and Getaway Systems!

There are two more Q&As planned for the coming weeks:

  • Townies & Lore – September 17th – 1 pm PT
  • Getaway Systems – October 1st – 1 pm PT

Imaginary Friends Q&A

Developer Molly (SimGuruNova) has answered a number of questions submitted by Simmers. Take a look at the answers below!

CONVERSATION 2

At what age can we make the Imaginary Friend real?

Once your Child Sim that made an Imaginary Friend ages up to a Teen, if they were good enough friends with their IF, they can offer to make Real on the doll, which allows them to turn their IF into a real Teen Sim. So it’s good incentive not to neglect or be mean to them as a kid.

Once turned real Sims, will other Sims be able to see the Imaginary Friend and interact with them?

Yes! They become fully real.

Will imaginary friends, when made real, always retain their consistent look (as seen in the trailer), or will it be randomised?

Each of the four have a unique “Made Real” look that’s consistent, based on their original Child (Imaginary) form. i.e. if you make Pretty Pegacorn real, she will always look like this at first. But once made real as a Teen, you can take them into CAS and customize if you wish, just like any other Sim!

08 26 25 3 48 09 PM

How does one make them real, just by clicking on them, or do you need to create a potion or something?

Befriend them as a child, then age up into a Teen, and run Offer to Make Real on the doll!

Are there any unique moodlets/interactions between the sim who can see the imaginary friend with those who can’t?

Yes! Children will get a variety of different buffs/interactions unique to their Imaginary Friend. Other Sims will just see them talking to no one (like a Sim with the erratic trait).

Okay, this is a sort of out-of-the-box question but: considering that there are giant teddy bears in The Sims 4, and child Sims can develop relationships with them, can we offer to turn those teddy bears into Imaginary Friends with the new pack?

Not at the moment. Imaginary Friends can be made from 1 of the 4 ImagineMe! dolls coming with Adventure Awaits! They’ve been custom-made for arriving from Imaginary Land.

AA Gameplay 107

Are the different personality types you can get tied to specific dolls? I’d love to mix and match them.

By default, the IFs have the following personalities:

  • Lil Monster: Goofball
  • Pretty Pegacorn: Evil
  • Krafty Kid: Creative
  • Wild Child: Competitive

Is the Imagine-Me Doll a build/buy object or does your child get them when they’re a kid like in TS3

Build Mode! yes, no limitations, just simoleons haha.

Are adults in the household able to parent the imaginary friend just like any other kid when they become real?

When you turn them into a real Teen Sim, they join the household, but as a roommate. You CAN adopt them into the family if you wish! It’s up to you. They will have a randomized name (for a fresh start as a real Sim) but that’s something you can always change in CAS to your heart’s desire.

Basically like any other Sim.

Is there any way a Sim other than the child who has the IF can see them?

Nope, they are invisible – other Sims will still see the doll sitting on the ground. The Sim who has the IF? The doll disappears when they spawn in their IF, and the actual IF is walking around, interactable, etc.

Will there be any limitations on what they can do once turned real?

Nope, they are a full-fledged real Sim!

My question too. Do you receive it as a gift, can an adult craft them, or can you buy them?

Build Mode! Buy the doll.

AA Gameplay 109

I just want to know if they’re like Patchy, and if you can have children with them?

When they become real? Sure! They’re a real Sim. Just, you know, they have to become an Adult first lol.

In response to the last answer: The baby has a special trait or some powers?

Since the made real Sim isn’t an occult, they are just living as a normal Sim. No special trait passed down – It’s their chance to finally get a chance to be real Sim after eons of being Imaginary! They’re just happy to taste food and touch things for real.

How does each personality impact the child Sims?

The personality will shape their entire set of interactions with the child!

IFs will recommend different activities to do together based on personality – Creative IF will recommend arts and crafts, Competitive might recommend active activities or competitive ones like video games, Evil ones will recommend mischief and other bad behavior!

Also, if you have an Evil IF, the Child can practice Mean interactions on them, strengthening their relationship! The Evil IF will love it, and encourage it. Then, eventually, if the Child heeds the advice of the Evil IF enough, they will gain the Budding Evil Persona trait, which might allow them to discover the Evil trait when they age up to Teen, If they so choose…

Can imaginary friends remain with the Sims once he gets into a Young Adult-Elder stages?

If turned into a real Sim! Otherwise, keeping the doll around has the option of Seeking Comfort from an Old Friend (or Frienemy!), giving mood bonuses based on their relationship with the IF as a child.

Are the IFS customisable in CAS?

Only when turned real. The Child IFs (actual Imaginary Forms) are set based on the doll purchased in Build Mode.

Hi Molly, it’s good to see you here! My question is, how autonomous are Imaginary Friends?

They’ll suggest things to do together, but will mostly hang around their attached Child! They’re there to befriend them, and be there for them, so they’ll stick to their person.

AA Gameplay 70

Are all their human-form cas pieces available in CAS, even if they’re only special unlocks that, for regular buy-mode purposes, would need to be used via cheats? Krafty Kid’s entire outfit is adorable.

Their human form outfits are unlockable in CAS if made real (or by cheating! but you didn’t hear me say that)

Can you have more than one imaginary friend at the same time?

Not at the same time. One IF per child, and one IF per doll at a time. So, if you are unhappy with your IF – the Child always has the option to Say Goodbye Forever, and you can purchase a new doll to switch it up! (But, how could you!!)

Update From SimGuruNova

For those of you asking about requirements to actually Imagine Up the imaginary friend as a Child (i.e. turn the doll into the IF)

Here’s the full process of Build Mode to IF:
Buy the doll from Build Mode.
The Child then can play with the doll as normal!
Tell it secrets, pour their heart out, carry it around, etc.
There is a requirement to make them into an IF:

  • Reach Creativity Level 3,
  • Befriend the doll (as you play with it or talk to it, you will gain relationship! visible in the rel panel),
  • Or, be suffering from loneliness, so much so that the Child needs a friend now.

Then, they can turn the doll into their IF.

Oh and also – Evil IFs can teach children how to set fires.

Oh and one thing to note: Personality and names can be personalized on the dolls UNTIL you make them into an Imaginary Friend. Once the friend is imagined up, they are locked into that name and personality. But, you can always change things around once they age up to Teen, if made real!

Are those 4 IF designs the only designs? I mean those 4 designs do not have recolours?

Four designs, no recolors this time. We wanted to give a variety of options compared to the single model offered for TS3 imaginary friends – they’re reflective of their default personalities and the diverse stories you’d wish to tell with them!

AA Gameplay 89

Can you order one as a gift from the phone or computer for your child? Not a fan of buying direct from build mode, but I can always make a retail store if not.

You could tell that story with a retail store!

Can adults with the goofball trait use the IF?

Just Children can imagine up IFs, or see their own IFs. They are invisible to anyone else.

Do the IFs attend high school if made real and added to the household?

These are their teen forms. The Krafty Kid and Wild Child forms haven’t been shared yet. Stay tuned!

Will random sims have autonomy to have imaginary friends + make them real or is it just tied to actions YOU do?

Fully player driven. There will not be random IFs running around rampant.

Wait, you can make them real to be actual children, not just teens? A win is a win!

No, when made real, it can only be done with the Child who imaginaed them ages up. And then they become real as a Teen.

AA Gameplay 118

Are there any cross-pack features involving IF?

Tons! They will recommend oodles and oodles of activities from across all packs, based on their personality.
For example, Creative IFs might suggest cross-stitiching if you own Cottage Living! Or Knitting for Nifty Knitting, etc.

Is there any compatibility with childish Sims? I.e can they maybe have IFs or see them?

Only Children can make IFs, and only the Child that imagines them up can see them!

Adventures

Schedule time to recharge

Use the Getaway Planner to design experiences away from home! Choose when the Getaway will start, how long it will last, a Lot for it to take place on, and what Sims will do. Getaways last multiple days and are great for meeting new people. There are 3 Getaways already available: Camp Gibbi Gibbi is a sleep-away camp for kids, Revive & Thrive is a fitness retreat where Sims can both relax and exercise, and Love Highland is a romantic spot where love and competition are in the air.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 1 53 screenshot

Create and customize

Choose Custom Venue from the drop down in Build Mode and create the exact spot that you want. Build it, decorate it, and decide what activities and roles (i.e. camp counselor or fitness instructor) are available. If starting from scratch feels intimi-dating, don’t worry. There are options available which you can build from. You can also download Custom Venues other Simmers have shared to the Gallery to use or edit. Custom Venues can be created starting from Build/Buy mode or Manage Worlds.

Add variety, competition, & more

Rules can deepen the Getaway experience. There are 3 types: Elimination, Shuffle, and Modifier. Elimination Rules can be based on Skill or Relationship gains, or on your choice. In a Fitness contest, the Sim with the least skill improvement is sent home at the end of each round. Shuffle Rules randomize activities based on a pre-set pool. There are 6 Modifier Rules that apply special conditions, like Love is In the Air (makes romance bloom) and Everyone Hates Each Other (makes friendships fail).

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 1 28 screenshot

Childhood Fun

Grow up meaningfully

Child Sims can have Formative Moments that provide lifelong benefits. There are 4 types of Formative Moment challenges: Inquisitiveness, Social, Independence, and Adventure. A Child might take on a Social challenge like Be a Joker, and then advance faster as an Entertainer when they grow up. Sims can also have long term Childhood Sentiments about people they know, which may change over time. For example, they may pull a prank they find funny as a kid, then feel guilty and apologize as an Adult.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 31 screenshot

Enjoy new games & more

Child Sims can play 2 classic games: Hide & Seek and Rock Paper Scissors. Kids with the new Scrappy trait may get com-petitive! Kids can also play on Modular Playgrounds which you can set up however you like. There is also a new childhood Aspiration, Cool Kid on the Block.

Meet dolls with big personalities

There are 4 Imaginary Friend dolls, and 4 possible personali-ties: Goofball, Competitive, Creative, and Evil. Which personality the doll has will affect what kinds of activities it encourages its Child Sim friend to engage in. Child Sims can name their Imaginary Friend, play with them, and share their biggest feelings and secrets with them. Sims who’ve grown up can still turn to their childhood Imaginary Friend for comfort on occa-sion, or they can say Goodbye Forever.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 0 44 screenshot

Recreation

Try a new activity

There are 4 new skills for both kids and grownups! Papercraft is about making toys, like planes or Cootie Catchers, as well as decorations like origami cranes out of paper. Entomology is all about bugs. Sims can collect butterflies, or even raise them from caterpillars. Diving will have Sims trying new jumps off the Diving Board. Sims are into Archery will be able to Bowfish at Fishing spots, and they can even try to shoot apples off other Sims’ heads.

Explore the water

If there’s water, you can paddle on it in your new Kayak. Go any watery place you like, and improve your Fitness Skill while you’re at it! Sims can even stand up and fish while in their boats. Other ways to enjoy the water include a Water Slide, a Diving Board, and by wading in for a special aquatic Woo Hoo.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 0 56 screenshot

Get active

New Spin Bikes and Free Weights are great ways for Adult Sims to improve their Fitness Skill. Kayaks are also a fun new way to work out, and they’re available for kids too. Pair your workout with a refreshing smoothie. Sims can use the new Blender to make energizing smoothies, boosting protein smoothies, and Sims who are extra keen about getting pumped can even add meat. Side effects may include vomiting, but most smoothies are yummy and beneficial we swear!

The World

Explore an adventurous world

The Wanderwood Wilds are an overgrown wilderness that are perfect for indulging your inner explorer. Discover the Hothead Rock Geyser – which can even spout lava! – as well as an old firewatch tower and more. There’s also Crystal Valley, where you can pan for something shiny or swim in an electric lagoon with neon jellyfish. Additionally, there’s a bioluminescent bay where you can kayak around in the Jellyfish Junction neighbor-hood, and a Lonely Lighthouse that might like a visit.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 8 screenshot

Become a Park Worker

Choose a career working in a majestic national park! In this unpredictable line of work, your Sim will leave at set times but they may not come home at the end of the day. They may be gone for up to 3 days! It’s a big park. Park Worker is a 10 level career that branches into Park Ranger and Camp Counselor paths. Sims can start this career path as Teens, though they won’t be able to advance beyond level 5 until they age up.

Catch those critters

Get into a skill that pairs perfectly with the new Critter Hunter Aspiration. Collect butterflies with the new Butterfly Net, study them, raise caterpillars, and more. If you’re going for the Aspiration, you might also want to collect fish and express your love of critters with paper crafts or in other ways.

First Look At The Sims 4 Custom Venues!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Gameplay Trailer Gave Us A Peek At The Sims 4 Custom Venues In Greater Detail!

Last week, the announcement of custom venues in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits reveal trailer had the community buzzing with questions about how functional and flexible the system was. Well, today’s Gameplay Trailer gave us an insight into their specific functions, and how crosspack gameplay can be utilised for endless possibilities. Let’s take a look at everything we’ve seen so far!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 3 4 screenshot

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Gameplay Trailer

Take a look at the latest Gameplay Trailer for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack!

What Are Custom Venues?

Simmers who played with the ‘Small Business’ lot in The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies will find the new ‘Custom Venue’ lot type familiar. When building, you can now assign a lot as a ‘Custom Venue’ and unlock a wide range of modifiers, from staff uniforms to role assignments. You’ll also have the freedom to fine-tune how the venue operates, including activity schedules and which Sims take part in them. Best of all, once you’ve perfected your setup, you can save it as a preset for future builds!

The blog post has revealed some examples of preset venue/getaway types:

  • Fitness Retreat
  • Outdoor Kids Camp
  • Romantic Competition
  • Cooking Competition
  • Cozy Bed and Breakfast
  • Creativity Retreat
  • Senior Living Community
  • Sim Popularity Contest
The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 53 screenshot

How Do Schedules Work?

Schedules for Custom Venues appear to work much like the new getaway system, giving you fine control over how your lot functions. You’ll be able to decide which roles are assigned, when activities take place, what kinds of Sims show up, and even what they wear. Schedules can be chosen from a number of presets or built entirely from scratch by slotting activities into different times of day.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 1 55 screenshot

You can make your venue as simple or as detailed as you like. Want a pool lot where Sims swim around the clock? Go for it. Prefer a gym with structured spin classes and a coffee break in between? That works too. And just like with The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies’ Small Business lots, there’s plenty of potential for cross-pack gameplay woven in. Here are all the features we spotted:

  • Naming Custom Venues
  • Assigning custom roles
  • Role Library: Choose from several pre-set roles
  • Saving schedules
  • Choosing from a number of schedule presets
  • Selecting start times for activities
  • Choosing which day the activities take place
  • Assigning a uniform per activity
The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 2 54 screenshot

Cross-Pack Possibilities

As of late, “Expansion Packs” mean more than just expanding gameplay, with many new packs adding more cross-pack gameplay to create a true sandbox experience for players. The gameplay trailer highlights this perfectly with “Sul Sul Island”, a parody of the reality show Survivor. In this getaway experience, Sims must tough it out on a tropical island alongside a Vampire who, rather inconveniently, is required to drink plasma every day at 1pm. A tough challenge for the Vampire, considering Sulani is known for its bright, sunny weather!

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Gameplay Trailer 3 23 screenshot

Of course, that is just one example of the cross-pack possibilities with The Sims 4 Custom Venue lot type. You could create a haunted house in which paranormal investigators (The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack) survive a number of nights in a house filled with playful (or evil) ghosts. Or, with The Sims 4 Bowling Night Stuff Pack, you could create a custom bowling alley and arcade. How about a celebrity wellness retreat, away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, with The Sims 4 Get Famous? I personally can’t wait to see what players come up with!

The recent blog post detailing features of The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits has shed some light on which cross-pack features will be available for presets:

  • Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack: Dog Training
  • Get to Work Expansion Pack: Corporate Retreat
  • Island Living Expansion Pack: Off the Grid Survival Competition
  • Get Together Expansion Pack and Parenthood Game Pack: Child Care
  • Spa Day Game Pack: Refreshing Spa Getaway
  • Fitness Stuff Pack: Ultimate Fitness Boot Camp

When Will We Find Out More?

The best way to find out more will be upon the release of The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits on October 2nd! However, in the meantime, there is a Q&A scheduled for October 1st that will cover the new Getaway System that ships with the pack. With the amount of crossover between the two systems, I’m certain some more light will be shed on The Sims 4 Custom Venue lot types.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Reactions From the Community

I asked the community for The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits reactions! Let’s see what the community is saying about the newest additions to The Sims 4. And if they’re worth the hype.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Reveal Trailer 2 14 screenshot 1

Skepticism About The Expansion Pack’s Concept

While many simmers are excited about the new content, not everyone is convinced that the newest expansion pack truly delivers on its title. Some players feel that The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits has long-term requested features; it is kind of hard to determine what the central focus of the Expansion Pack will be. The reveal trailer indicates it could be a variety of different ideas, such as a family-focused expansion, a vacation getaway pack, or is it both?

Screenshot 2

The uncertainty is echoed even more strongly by some long-time Simmers. One frustrated fan shared, “I have been a loyal Sims player for 20 years. I have never been more disappointed. I have no idea what this is supposed to be. I don’t know the theme here. The game has so many bugs, it doesn’t even run correctly. FIX THE GAME PLEASE!” For some, the lack of a clear direction isn’t just confusing; it adds to the ongoing frustrations about the game’s performance and lingering game issues. This reaction highlights how, for part of the community, excitement over new features is overshadowed by the desire for stability and focus in future packs.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Reveal Trailer 3 27 screenshot

A Sense of Nostalgia and a Return to Roots

While Simmers are (rightfully so) unclear about the pack’s identity, others are excited a very different reason: A sense of familiarity from older games. As Michel (Michel69570926 on X/Twitter) shared: “What I’m most happy about is that the team is maybe starting to go back to its roots. Back to what made us love this franchise. I’m seeing Sims 2 inspiration and hoping for more in future content.”

This mix of perspectives highlights the unique reactions to The Sims 4: Adventure awaits. While some, like Michel, see Adventure Awaits as a return to our roots as Simmers, others are embracing its variety as a sign of a great expansion! JayJaySimie (JayJaySimie on Twitter/X) expressed their excitement about the freedom it offers.

Creativity Through Custom Getaways

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Official Reveal Trailer 4 40 screenshot

For many Simmers, the chance to customize and design their own getaways feels like a fresh, new realm of creativity in The Sims 4. As Lore Krajsman (liliaeth on X/Twitter) said: “I love that we can create our own style of getaway venues.” This feature could be really open and creative. Maybe it is a feature similar to the date building feature, or even like the Small Business Venue in The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies?

Excitement for the Features

Of course, plenty of players are excited for the variety of new features packed into The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits. One fan summed it up with a long list of highlights, “Imaginary friends, rock-paper-scissors, pool trampoline, spinning classes, night kayaking with firefly shows, functional blenders, customized play areas, hide-and-seek, archery… and I could go on and on!! I already love this pack.”

Screenshot 1

Final Thoughts

The reveal of The Sims 4: Adventure awaits has sparked a wave of mixed emotions across the community. For some, the expansion represents long-awaited features, nostalgic callbacks, and fresh opportunities to build and play in new ways. For others, the lack of a clear theme and ongoing concerns about game stability has dampened the excitement for some.

How do Getaways work?

Getaways are customizable experiences for Sims seeking a new thrill, complete relaxation and everything in between! To create a Getaway, select a location or create a Custom Venue for the occasion. Getaways can be scheduled for any length of time, but can also be recurring with a set schedule. Select the number of Sims attending (maximum 8 Sims), then assign roles for each of the Sims. You can also add Role Criteria for the roles assigned to Sims, select Role Activities and set a Role Outfit for each of the Sims. Getaways can also be assigned Challenges and Rules for even more possibilities!

Are there any new Fitness animations?

Yes! The Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack introduces Free Weights, allowing Sims to do arm curls, teach a Pump It Up class or hire a Pump It Up instructor to guide Sims through exhilarating workouts. They can also use the new Spin Bike to work up a sweat, then make a refreshing recovery beverage with the new Blender object.

Are there any new WooHoos?

Adventure Awaits introduces Water WooHoo, allowing Sims to WooHoo in any body of water, even in the Jellyfish lagoon!

There are 14 unique species to collect, including a special butterfly unlocked by finishing the collection and placing it in the habitat. You can also sort them into their own folders within your Mods folder, but it is recommended to not nest them too many levels deep as it can cause longer loading times, and some CC items stop working when too deep within folders.

Tip: While many creators provide additional files, like .txt/ReadMe, .jpg/.png files, and more, it is best practice to not put those into your Mods folder as they can also lead to longer load times and excessive clutter. Creators will often specify any files that need to be put into the folder, along with where, so primarily focus on .package and .ts4script files!

The Sims 4 Retro Revival CC Kit by Simspancake

TS4 x64 2025 08 28 13 26 38 609

Pulling inspiration from real-world mid-century modern and Myshunosun’s official Sims 4 Kit, the Cozy Kitsch Kit, Simspancake wanted to expand on these furniture ideas and sets, both while matching to the kit and the base game. Most of the wood tones are made to match a majority of base game woods, and other popular or common item colors in the game from packs or other items.

This set includes 41 total assets, each asset having 13 swatches between wood and solid color variants. The items are primarily in buy mode with a couple build mode items, and the general goal of this Sims 4 Retro Revival CC Kit is to provide more options for living rooms and dining rooms, but most of the furniture has multiple uses and goes well with other items in the game!

The Creator: Simspancake CC

With how many amazing pieces Simspancake has released so far, we wanted to reach out and get some backstory and more info on his inspirations and plans.

Sims 4 Retro Revival CC Kit by Simspancake - Simspancake Render

I’ve been playing The Sims since the release of The Sims 3 Into The Future and never stopped. My journey in the CC Creation process started in 2020 during Covid. I always dreamed about it but never tried. I’m also the creator of the CC Pack that allows players to sell furniture in their Small Business, and I’m planning to release more content in the near future.

– Simspancake

Be sure to take a look at our article of Simspancake’s previous custom content kit, The Sims 4 Retail Essentials, reviewed earlier this year in June! It’s a beautiful set with similar themes to this one that also includes overrides and mods for the sale of large furniture pieces! Now, on to the Sims 4 Retro Revival CC Kit overview!

What’s Included?

Build Mode

Going Retro Wallpaper

Building in the Sims 4 can feel repetitive at certain points, but having a new wallpaper has really brought some new inspiration to my builds! I especially love matching it up to existing paint colors in the game to create an accent wall!

Fine Wood Floor

I love the wood tones in this set, especially in the hardwood, because they all match allowing for one swatch throughout, or complementary swatches mixed together to give off a mixed-wood look instead!

Buy Mode

Lighting & Structural Pieces
No to Privacy! Room Divider

The room dividers fit so well to me, more specifically to break up open concept spaces and studio or one bedroom apartments. It especially helps with Tiny Homes from Tiny Living Stuff to separate the living areas!

Golden Years Pendant Lamp (Short, Medium, and Tall) & Retro Floor Lamp

The Golden Years Pendant Lamps, no matter height you choose, provide great lighting for the room and a sweet pop of color matching with whatever color scheme you’re furnishing with, or for a room full of neutrals that needs an accent piece!

Matching well with the ceiling light and other colorful furniture pieces in this set, the Retro Floor Lamps wiggly silhouette is a conversation starter with that can add a bit of mood lighting with its strong downward beam of light.

Dining Area

Dining Table “Simplistic Beauty”
diningtable

The glass insert in the center of this dining table breaks up the smooth wood grain, providing a contrast that sparks interest and accentuates any centerpieces or table settings.

Dining Chair “Simplistic Beauty”
diningchair

Retro and sleek, this dining chair is primarily colorful and matches well with the provided dining table, making a comfy but understated seat for your sims to study, do homework, or eat their meals at (if they don’t just autonomously stand next to it…)!

Living Area & Office
Cozy Days Living Set (Couch, Loveseat, Chair)

This couch, loveseat, and chair all match down to the color schemes and decorative accent pillows, but they vary so slightly to make them look more lived in and natural. The cozy blanket on the loveseat looks so perfectly placed and makes it look ready for a family movie night!

Cheap & Old Retro TV

I loved having this little television, and I can already foresee it replacing almost all of the start televisions in the game when I’m building a simple living room or a bedroom. The color swatches and simplistic style make it flexible enough to work with most things, but it is still overall a conversation starter.

Stuck in Retrozone Radio

A nice accent to any study or living room corner, the Stuck in Retrozone Radio has the same swatches as the Cheap & Old Retro TV, and adds a nice pop of color while being a functional little radio for your sims to use.

Living Tables

Wood TV Stand

Perfect for the retro boxy television provided in the pack, a standing flatscreen, or your Rags to Riches PenguinVision Children’s Television Set, this TV stand works seamlessly with the other pieces in this collection and has a little cubby cutout for your Sim’s gaming console, plants, or really anything that you could fit in it!

Wood End Table
endtable

With its rounded and smoothed edges, this table goes perfectly when paired in a living room with the Ovoid Beauty Coffee Table, both with the matching swatches and complimentary shapes.

Coffee Table “Ovoid Beauty”
ovoidtable

This somewhat egg-shaped coffee table fits lovely with the other wooden pieces, but especially meshes well with the provided end tables and other sleek and smooth furniture pieces.

Wood Hallway Table
halltable

Decorating a hallway or entryway can always be hard, but I loved the hallway table to add small pieces of clutter, a plant, a lamp, and to frame it with wall hangings like paintings or family photos.

Shelves
Empty Bookcase
bookcase

This shelf fits so well with the added decorations and looks great in a study, bedroom, or the corner of living room. I personally love adding in clutter from the base game and packs to customize it for individual sims’ tastes.

Simple Shaped Wood Etagere
TS4 x64 2025 08 31 19 53 42

The etagere was such a nice piece to fill those empty corners I tend to find in rooms, especially when I don’t want to add a plant to every corner of every room. Using clutter, tiny decor, or just leaving empty space for a bit of realism, it fills space and warms up an area!

Simple Shelf
simpleshelf

Super simplistic and modern, the Simple Shelf is perfect for decorative and functional purposes. Needing a place to put your sims extensive snow globe collection, or somewhere to put laundry clutter for your teeny tiny laundry room? Works perfectly either way!

Decorations
Vibrant Retro Curtains (Short, Medium, and Tall)

Having more curtains is something I’m always looking for, especially with the wide variety of windows and doors added along with every DLC dropped for The Sims 4. With both neutrals and vibrant deep colors, Simspancake has created a great accent for any room!

Living Large Rug

While the color palettes for this rug are quite varied, they still work well with almost any combination of items from this set! A nice modern but not busy pattern that pulls a room together, especially when using lots of wood tones.

Window to the Soul Mirror

This mirror is so beautiful – I actually really wanted to add it with some curtains over it to imitate a window, because I love the framing and the mesh overall.

Vintage Clock

Inspired by the super popular starburst clocks of the Midcentury Modern Era, I used this clock in just about every room or area I decorated for this set because I just thought it worked so well; Not too big and not too small, looks good next to posters and photos, and just fills wall space which is all too important in The Sims 4.

Grandma’s Tea Set

A cutesy little accent for your breakfast nook or the corner of your kitchen, this kettle and teacups look modern but also, per the name, like it could be your grandma’s well-seasoned kettle that she’s had for decades.

Bowl with Fruits

A classic bowl of table fruits, with a pottery or ceramic-like bowl to match any of your nearby furniture. The meshes are smooth and the fruits look fresh and juicy, and it adds a great pop of freshness to any room!

Collection of Books “The Avid Reader”

To be paired with the empty bookshelf or even just set up on a desk, I thought these were such a nice piece to add to any room, especially with the little doodle on the end of the smaller book.

Stack of Books “The Pages Lover”

The less organized stack gives off a busy academic vibe, and works well in just about any spot. I liked the idea of them sitting on a dining table next to a group of teens working on their homework, just chipping away before the big exam.

Little Potted Plant, The Cozy Stem Potted Plant, and the Monsteras Arrangement Potted Plant

Having three different plant sizes and varieties makes for a nice hint of nature in each room, pairing well with base game plants and the newer plants added by recent packs for a centerpiece or a corner to a room.

Paintings
Frame A & Frame B, The Art of Nature, and The Awakening of a Flower

Paired with the paintings below for either a formal framed art look or an informal poster look, these frames match both the wood and vibrant color swatches, making for tons of possible combinations.

The Art of Nature, and The Awakening of a Flower

These pieces, while consistent and similar, stand out when you change the swatches and can work for just about any room and color scheme. I’m a big fan of the sheer amount of green in this pack!

Build Inspiration

Example 1: Retro Revival CC Kit + Base Game

RetroRevivalnBaseGame

This set works together with the base game super easily, and allows for a retro but modern take on a cozy dining room, fit for coffee and gossip between friends. I personally was overjoyed by the wood tones that made everything so easy to match and compare!

Example 2: Retro Revival CC Kit + Cozy Kitsch Kit by Myshunosun

TS4 x64 2025 08 28 15 07 33 230

Myshunosun’s Cozy Kitsch Creator Kit and Simspancake’s Retro Revival CC Kit are a match made in heaven. Simspancake specified he was inspired by that kit and wanted to create this set as somewhat of an add-on, but they pair so beautifully together for a sleek and cutesy living room.

Example 3: Retro Revival CC Kit + Businesses and Hobbies

TS4 x64 2025 08 30 22 56 40 071

After speaking with Simspancake, he recommended that I look at the swatches and how they work with the recent Business and Hobbies release, and I enjoyed decorating a tiny little Tattoo Studio with the pack and the Retro Revival CC Kit! The colors, even when they didn’t match, were all rich and super complementary, and it made decorating super easy.

TS4 x64 2025 08 30 22 57 37 655

Example 4: Retro Revival CC Kit + Tiny Living Stuff

TS4 x64 2025 08 28 15 38 48 561

While this combination was a tad harder since Tiny Living actually added less furniture than you would think to the game, the Simspancake assets and combination of other additions created to make tiny spaces more sustainable in the game works so well to design a modern and quirky tiny home for your sims!

EA Might Take A Break From Sims 4 Expansion Packs After Adventure Awaits

It Has Been Hinted That The Studio Will Focus On Fixing The Sims 4.

With the announcement of The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits, many are asking the age-old question: What’s next for Sims 4 Expansion Packs? Rumours suggest that this could be the last Expansion Pack release for a while, with the team behind Adventure Awaits shifting focus to a long-overdue Base Game update, including quality of life improvements, system requirement changes, and fixing corruption. Adding weight to this theory, known community member Anadius recently pointed out that the pack version numbers hint that there will be five DLC releases to come before the next Expansion Pack. If the recent roadmap leak is to be believed, these releases will come in the form of Kits.

The Sims 4 Expansion Pack Number Hints

In a recent post on Twitter, Anadius highlighted that there will be 5 DLC releases between EP20 (Adventure Awaits) and EP21, according to version numbers (1.102 and 1.108, respectively). That gap between version numbers lines up neatly with the leaked roadmap, which lists the Autumn Apparel Kit in October, two Creator Kits slated for November, and two more Kits coming in December. Anadius notes that the order is subject to change and should be taken as an estimate.

Is The Base Game Getting Overhauled?

In a recent tweet, user SimMattically described Adventure Awaits as “a bit of a curtain call”, suggesting we may not see another major release for a while. When another user (@_trasherFP) replied, hoping that Maxis would use this downtime to “fix the game”, Simattically responded with a winking emoji, a hint that behind-the-scenes efforts might indeed be shifting towards long-requested and long-overdue Base Game updates.

This theory lines up with reports that Maxis has assembled a dedicated team to address bugs, performance issues, and quality-of-life updates. After the Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Pack was discovered to be exacerbating already existing corruption issues, many players have been vocal about wanting the game to be “fixed” and modernised, rather than more content layered onto an already fragile foundation. If true, this break from Expansion Pack releases could give The Sims 4 the refresh many feel it desperately needs.

What Is Planned For The Base Game?

The August 19th Patch for The Sims 4 quietly introduced a “Memory Boost Mode”. A new executable file called ‘TS4_x64_fpb’ was added to the The Sims 4 directory, and could be launched by typing ‘-fpb’ in the launch options via the EA App or Steam. While initially players didn’t understand exactly what this mode does, a comment by Thurask on our article revealed that the new version reduces lag, frees up memory, and helps prevent crashes. Another comment pointed out that when running in memory boost mode, other lots that would appear as their Maxis defaults are now appearing as they should if they have been replaced by custom builds.

the sims 4 neighboring issues

With the addition of a 64-bit version of The Sims 4 in 2015, and updates to indoor lighting and effects, perhaps more performance improvements are on their way. The DirectX 11 update in 2024 increased the overall experience for many players on better systems, with improved rendering capabilities. Perhaps focus is shifting internally to address player concerns about the fragility of the Base Game and the longevity of the game if Expansion Packs continue to be released.
