The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack: FIRST DETAILS!

The Sims Team revealed that they’ll be doing a Stuff Pack reveal for The Sims 4 today, January 12th 2021. However, it seems that first details have already leaked thanks to Origin!

A few months ago Origin accidentally listed The Sims 4 Stuff Pack 18 and some players were even able to purchase it before release. Now, the pack has been listed for those who decided to make the pack purchase with the pack name, description and key features! A reliable The Sims Forums member elelunicy posted the description with all the major features included in this Stuff Pack. The listed release date of the pack is January 26th, 2021.

Take a look of what the pack is all about!

Light the candles and prepare the rituals to appease your ghastly new roomates in The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack! Spectral guests cause mischief and mayhem on Haunted House Lots, but Sims can perform a seance, befriend Guidry the Ghost, become a Paranormal Investigator, and restore order.

Meet Ghastly Roomates – Your new-to-you home might be home to someone else, too, if it’s one of the new Haunted House Lots! Appease the mischievous specters to relax in serenity, or let them run amok for scares day and night.

Cleanse Your Home – If you want to send your new roomates packing, Guidry the Ghost is happy to advise you. Remove accursed objects, perform a seance, communie with the dead, and receive gifts from specters! You can even summon Bonehilda the skeletal maid.

Calm the Spirits – Master the Medium skill and impress Guidry to get a Paranormal Investigator license! Once you’re ready, take on some freelance gigs to expel unwelcome visitors for other Sims. With spooky activity on the rise, it’s up to your Sim to put a stop to it.

The GIF clues that SimGurus have been sharing yesterday were leading up to a bigger picture which said “All will be revealed January 12th”. Now, we also know what the reveal is about!

The Sims’ official tweet revealed that next week on January 12th they’ll be revealing the next Stuff Pack for The Sims 4. They’ve shared that this is the first pack reveal of 2021, meaning that we can probably expect a lot more throughout this year.

They’ve also shared a small clue “Let the investigation begin!” – could the next Stuff Pack revolve around ghost hunting? We’ll know for sure next week!

The Sims X MAC Eyeshadow Palette is a marketing abomination

2

A few months ago The Sims Team announced their partnership between The Sims 4 and MAC Cosmetics – a Makeup brand that offers a variety of different beauty products. The collaboration first brought a variety of new makeup in The Sims 4 including lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes and more with a variety of different presets. Those makeup options became even better with December 2020’s Makeup and Skintone Sliders Update that lets you fully customize the appearance of the new MAC makeup.

The collaborative efforts between these two brands didn’t stop there. Just a few days ago MAC has announced a limited edition Sims Eyeshadow Palette that’s currently available only in the United States. The eyeshadow palette, listed at 32 US Dollars, offers 9 “different” eyeshadow colors.

At the time of writing this article the eyeshadow palette had already been sold out:

The Sims X MAC Eyeshadow Palette is a marketing abomination

What’s so controversial about this palette? For starters, the eyeshadow colors chosen for this palette have no relation whatsoever to The Sims, its branding nor the namings of each palette color. The only thing tied with The Sims is the blue branding color and The Sims logo slapped on top of the palette box.

Look – I’m not a makeup expert nor do I know a lot about the beauty world besides the few beauty influencers I follow on social media. However, anyone with functional eyesight would realize that this isn’t good. None of the 9 colors have any relation whatsoever to The Sims’ branding.

Makeup palettes these days usually like to go an extra lenght and follow along the theme of the palette with custom names and colors that fit the palette’s overall theme. However, this palette does nothing of that sort. I’m pretty sure that “Blackberry”, “Moon Rock”, “Quarry” and others aren’t related to The Sims.

To make things even worse, this palette is nothing more than an old palette with a new packaging. Twitter user @spillseshYT pointed out that the eyeshadow palette that MAC tried to promote as a Sims palette was already released before by MAC – with the exact same colors and names:

The Sims X MAC Eyeshadow Palette is a marketing abominationMAC Cosmetics’ official Instagram account replied to a question asking how is The Sims eyeshadow palette related to The Sims’ brand. Their answer to a rehashed palette only added more fuel to the fire with a confusing answer that only tries to excuse MAC’s decision to recycle their old palette:

There’s so many different ways that this collaboration could have went. The Sims’ branding is pretty unique and colorful full of iconic names and colors.

Twitter was already bringing up some great ideas and suggestions at how this collaboration actually should’ve been done. Check out some of the ideas below:

It’s also interesting how the creation of MAC makeup for The Sims 4 went. MAC’s Director Romero Jennings was using colorful swatches to bring the MAC Makeup into The Sims 4. It’s a shame that the same thing wasn’t done when the real-life palette was being made…

SimGurus are teasing a possible new Sims 4 Stuff Pack announcement

11

SimGurus, the official developers working on The Sims 4 have released a series of GIF tweets that show a bigger picture.

The animated picture, which contains new elements such as small animated ghosts and a whole new outfit and hairstyle also has a text on it that says “All will be revealed January 12th”. Considering that the text also highlighted the “reveal” part in the colors of Stuff Pack branding – it could mean that The Sims Team is ready to reveal the next Stuff Pack for The Sims 4.

SECURE YOUR CUSTOM CONTENT: Mediafire is deleting old accounts and content

0

Since the beginning of The Sims Franchise creators have been coming up with all sorts of Mods and Custom Content to further expand The Sims universe with new clothing, objects and gameplay modifications. Plenty of creators, from The Sims 1 all up until The Sims 4 days have been storaging their CC in their Mediafire accounts. Now, it turns out that 20+ years of content might be in danger thanks to Mediafire’s decision to “abandon” old, inactive accounts starting January 2021.

Twitter user @textfiles reports that several folks have received an official email from Mediafire, stating that their account will be classified as “abandoned” if their accounts don’t meet certain requirements. All “abandoned” Mediafire accounts will have all of their content removed starting in January 2021 if they don’t reach the criteria by then. It’s not known exactly which accounts might be affected by this decision. Still, considering that many creators have uploaded their content since The Sims 1 era it’s safe to say that most accounts will be considered as “abandoned” by January.

Plenty of creators nowadays still use Mediafire among other hosting solutions such as SimFileShare, MEGA and more to storage their content. Guessing which accounts might get axed by January might not be the best idea, so if you want to ensure your favorite creations are safe and sound, revisit your favorite creators’ download pages and ensure you have the content storaged from Mediafire safe in your Mods folder before January.
