The Sims 4: Installed Content Management coming with the New Update

4

DOTSim reports that a brand new button caught his eye during The Sims 4 Get to Work Preview Event in Poland.

The ”Installed Content Management” button gives you options to enable and disable all of the content you have installed for your The Sims 4 Game. Let’s say you don’t want to send your Sims to vacation in Granite Falls anymore. You can just disable The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat content and all of the objects and features from that Game Pack won’t appear in your Game anymore!

You’ll be able to access this button in The Sims 4’s main menu, next to the Gallery icon on top right.

This feature is expected to release on March 31, 2015 along with The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack.

The Sims 4: Neighborhood Upgrade Coming Soon?

3

After SimGuruGraham clarified that The Sims 4 Get To Work‘s new Neighborhood Magnolia Promenade only comes with 4 Lots, Simmers were quite disappointed with the fact that we might never see a Neighborhood with more than 5 Lots.

Capture

The Sims Forum member rtucker expressed his worries on the official Forums saying:

Everything is starting to come into play. the small world, then we got the outdoor retreat with only four lots. and not we are getting our first EP and again only for lots. Do you think that will be normal now with future EP and GP. I hope not.

SimGuruDaniel didn’t ignore his post and stated the following:

Just wanted to pop in to say we recognize the desire for more lots and Sims. GTW may not address this completely, but we have other plans in the works that should help.

Whether this new ”Neighborhood Upgrade” means just one or two new Lots or a Neighborhood Editor that’ll help us edit and Customize current and future Lot spaces with more options, it’s always nice to see SimGurus and their interest in expanding the game.

The Sims 4 Get To Work: Running a Bakery is No Cake Walk

9

Via TheSims.com!

Last week we looked in on some lovestruck scientists running cloning experiments in a science lab. This week, we’re following an up-and-coming entrepreneur hoping to make her mark as a retail business owner in The Sims 4 Get to Work.

Sarah’s Bakery was failing. Badly. She’s was losing Simoleons on it every day, she was overworked, and she hadn’t found the time to leave her store in days. But today was the day she would turn things around.

She woke up bright and early in the small room she had built above her bakery. It was pretty basic – a bed, a bathroom, and a small kitchen – but it let her take care of immediate needs when she was too tired to head home after a long day of work. She would eventually have to go to her real house to pay her bills, but this little home away from home lets her start her day earlier (and end it later).

She made a few pies and brought them downstairs, putting them on shelves around the room. She looked around her shop, letting it all soak in. Her bakery was awful. It wasn’t cute or fun, or anything a bakery is supposed to be. If she wanted to succeed, she needed to expand and get creative!

Though her business was failing, she had saved up just enough Simoleons to make some changes. She grew her shop downward, adding a basement to her building and filling it with the fixings of a proper bakery: tables, ovens, and – of course – a cupcake machine, which she used to make a variety of awesome sweet and savory creations. Her garden let her include some fresh ingredients too – things the Sims coming in wouldn’t be able to resist. By the time she was done, she’d become better at baking, and learned a few new cool recipes.

Now she needed to change the look of her bakery to make it more appealing to potential customers. So she made another change, splitting her store down the middle. One side was painted pink, with cute decorations and all of the sweet baked goods she could create. On the other, things became darker and more savory, with Crab Cakes, Artisanal Herb Bread, and other flavorful goods. She stood in the middle of her larger, more impressive shop. This was good. This was very good! But now that her shop looked great, and was filled with great stuff, Sarah knew she’d need some help.

She looked through a list of potential hires. A few were great at sales, others better at cleaning and restocking, and some were more hardworking. She hired a cheerful Sim named Melissa and gave her a brand new uniform. Everyone who came in was met with a smile, and left with a handful of Sarah’s baked goods. As the day went on, Melissa got faster and faster (and made Sarah more and more money). Sarah’s new baked goods were flying off the shelves thanks to Melissa. Her investment was well worth it! Melissa was so good that Sarah needed to hit the floor herself, restocking her pies and cupcakes as Melissa rung people up on her tablet.

At the end of the day she walked over to the cash register and looked at her earnings. She’d made enough to give Melissa a well-deserved raise – which she knew would keep her happy – and her business was successful enough to upgrade. A big, neon sign was placed above the door: talk about a perk!

What a difference a day makes. When she woke up she was struggling to make ends meet in a failing bakery, and now her shop was the talk of the town. Who knows what tomorrow might bring. She could hire another employee, add another level (or two) to her store. Maybe she would open a different type of store entirely – one that sells pictures of wooden figures. She wasn’t sure, but she was excited to find out!

This April, your Sims will rule the workplace in The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack. You will control your Sims’ every action as they tackle three active careers, whether it’s saving lives as a daring doctor, solving crimes as a fearless detective, or creating inventions as a mad scientist. You will also be able to put your Sims’ entrepreneurial ambitions to the test as you create and customize unique retail businesses. Plus, there are new venues, more skills to learn, and the chance to befriend some aliens!

The Sims 4 Get To Work: UK Release Date (Unconfirmed)

0

GAME UK has updated their Pre-Order Page for The Sims 4 Get To Work with a Release Date (02/04/2015).

Capture

Although we don’t have a confirmation from EA is this release date right or wrong, we have 2 facts proving that this Release Date sounds reasonable:

1) The Sims Facebook page ”accidentally” posted a video showing a release date for Get To Work – March 31 (US). As all Sims Games release 2-3 days in Europe after the US release, April 2nd sounds more than reasonable.

GTWrelease2

2) The Sims Facebook page wrote a comment saying that the Basements Patch will be releasing near the end of March. As all The Sims 4 Updates (to this date) were released on a Tuesday, and March 31 is on Tuesday, both Basements and Get To Work could be releasing on that day.

Since Simmers WooHoo’d over 5 Million times on the Valentine’s Day Weekend, we are rewarded with a brand new gnome (and will be rewarded with 2 new Hairstyles next month).

Bare Essentials Gnome (Environment: 1)

Stripped of all modern trappings and shorn of any responsibility, the Bare Essentials Gnome is a titillating effigy of the squat Sim form at its most diminutive state. Encased in a grid of decent propriety and ensconced in one’s shame, this gnome enters your home as one enters the world – naked.

The Sims 4: New Patch! (10/03/2015)

Update: 03/10/2015 – PC Version 1.4.114.1010 / Mac Version 1.4.114.1210

Hey Simmers,

March is upon us, Get to Work is pushing against the door, and the color green shall soon reach a pinnacle of popularity, if only for a day. And we have an update ready to release.

It’s a small update that fixes a few crashes for Mac and PC that the community has helped us track down and reproduce. And a little bit of content.

What’s new? It’s St. Patrick’s Day or St. Paddy’s Day, (as I learned this week, it’s not St. Patty’s… who knew?)! Top off your Sim with a bit o’tha green by plopping on a new hat for your male and female Sims, found in Create a Sim. And a new gnome has joined us! Search for the Bare Essentials Gnome to adorn your abode.

Thank you all for the save files, feedback, and help we get in narrowing down issues, and improving on The Sims 4 experience for everyone!

Crash / Performance (General)

  • We fixed a ‘failed to load object’ error that was returning the player to the neighborhood map when attempting to load into a lot.
    • This error was the result of an invalid fallback being called when we ran into a load error. Essentially, if we were looking for a sofa and we couldn’t find the sofa, we would say “Hey, there is no sofa” and kick the request back. Which would then say “But I need a sofa.” And this would go back and forth until finally someone would just give up, storm off angry, and say “Fine, if there is no sofa, there is no game, and you can forget about dinner, cuddling, and now we are going to go visit my mother, and yes, you ARE coming with me!”
  • Players who have Nvidia GTX 960, 970, or 980 video cards should no longer get the “Unrecognized Video Card” error upon launching the game.
  • We fixed a crash that could occur on load due to “lot caching,” which was fixed… by removing the cache. Au revoir.
  • We fixed an issue that could lead to an infinite load when travelling that was due to certain world objects (trees, rocks, or similar) failing to load. Rather than hanging, we now just advance the load.
    • And by advance the load, it is meant that we step over the request, and move on to the next. Like when you are reading your daughter’s Christmas wish list, and you just ignore the “pony” and “little brother” line items.
  • Fixed an issue where browsing the gallery could lead to a crash.
  • We fixed a few crashes that were affecting some users on both Mac and PC… yea, that’s pretty generic. To be specific, we fixed crash category 0xd12c29, 0x4518fe, 0xb72d33, and 0x34bc94. Maybe that was too specific? I’m not sure I can do better in this case, um… we fixed a Graphics::Texture, Pathplanner:containsFast, FamilyManager, and SetNotificationFunction crash. Totally not helpful. Let’s just go with “Mac and PC are now more stable as a result of these fixes.”

Crash / Performance (Mac)

  • Fixed an issue that was preventing the game from launching, and display an “Unable to start, initialization” error if the players save file had lots of custom content installed due to a file handle issue on OSX. This fix should allow you to comfortably have approximately ~1000 pieces of custom content as opposed to 20 which was the case previously.
  • Fixed a crash that was the result of using a mouse with more than 5 buttons. It is once again safe to use these mice! It should be noted however, that no mice were harmed in the testing of our fix, all mice were handled with the utmost care, treated with respect, and held for only the shortest amount of time, before we released them once again to live amongst their own kind. Not that we are against mice and human cohabitation, only that without understanding the desire of the mouse, it can only be considered inhumane to force the mice to remain in our environment.
  • We fixed a texture loading issue that was causing some systems to have Sims appear without texture upon loading into Create-a-Sim.

Interface (Mac)

  • It is now possible to change the refresh rate in the Game Options, Graphics tab.
  • If you launched the game in fullscreen and then exit fullscreen, the yellow minimize button was disappearing upon exiting fullscreen. As a side note, if you are aware of the official name for the “yellow minimize button,” that would be great, because our bug report referred to it as “the yellow minimize button in the top left of the window” and I have to wonder if it has a simpler name, like the minimize button or maybe they just call it Bob. Click on Bob to minimize. Did you click Bob? Have you seen Bob? He minimizes things for you. Takes away your cares, shrinks them away… Bob.
  • If you launched the game in fullscreen and then exit fullscreen, the green fullscreen button was disappearing upon exiting fullscreen. As a side note, if you are aware of the official name for the “green fullscreen button,” that would be great, because… didn’t I already write this note? So, yea… Bob Junior. Okay, this is just weird. Why do I have 2 bug reports about 2 buttons that are right next to each other in screen space? They’re fixed now, Bob and Bob Jr.
  • You should no longer be able to edge scroll while the options menu is open.

Much appreciation and admiration,
-SimGuruGnome
