The Sims 4: EA Play Livestream Recap

In case you missed it, EA Play is happening this weekend in Los Angeles, California, and The Sims Team has us all shook! They dropped a lot of super exciting info about upcoming content for The Sims series this year and we want to make sure you’re in the know about all of it!

Here’s our quick recap of what @SimGuruLyndsay and @SimGuruDuke had to share with us about the future of The Sims:

  • The next expansion pack for The Sims 4 will be called Island Living. It will be a tropical paradise-themed pack. The expansion is heavily inspired by Polynesian culture. The Sims 4 Island Living will be coming to PC/Mac on June 21st, 2019.
  • The next game pack for The Sims 4 will be called Realm of Magic. More information about The Sims 4 Realm of Magic will be released over the next few months. The game pack is expected to launch this fall.
  • The next stuff pack for The Sims 4 will be Moschino Stuff, in partnership with high fashion brand Moschino. The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff will be the first stuff pack to come with a new career. SimGuruDuke described the career as “part-time freelance fashion photographer.” The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff will be launching later this summer.
  • The Sims is also partnering with the It Gets Better campaign, an organization that provides support and resources to LGBTQ+ youth. An assortment of bright and colourful new It Gets Better and Pride content will be coming to The Sims 4 on June 18th, along with a new gender-neutral bathroom type. The Sims Mobile and The Sims FreePlay will also be getting new It Gets Better and Pride content a little later.

The Sims 4 Island Living: Official Trailer

The Sims Team has just released the official trailer for The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Pack during today’s EA Play Press Conference. Go take a look and let us know what you think!

It looks as though console players may be getting the newly leaked Sims 4 expansion pack, Island Living, sooner than initially anticipated!

A tweet by @TheSpookySimmer alerted us that The Sims 4 Island Living may have leaked out onto the PlayStation Store. After investigating ourselves, we did find The Sims 4 Island Living listed on the PlayStation Store with a projected release date of July 16th!

If this date proves to be accurate, console players could be getting their hands on Island Living very soon after PC players, if not at the same time.

UPDATE: Origin has also leaked a product description of the pack. Check it out!

⦁ Sit Back and Relax

Welcome to Sulani, where the sun shines bright and the nights are totally chill. Set sail on the glistening water in your island canoe, swim to your heart’s content, and explore the scenery on a watercraft. Build a spectacular sand castle, catch some rays, and even meet a mermaid!

⦁ Pitch In or Help Out

Become a conservationist, clean up the beaches, and watch your Sims’ impact bloom all over the island. Take to the waves in a fishing or diving career or become a lifeguard to keep the locals safe under the sun. No career? No problem! Sims can do a few odd jobs or fish for their next meal.

⦁ Engage in Local Culture

Tradition runs deep on Sulani, and your Sims get to experience everything it has to offer. Immerse Sims in their newfound lifestyle by attending a pit barbecue event, learning about local folklore, tasting tropical delicacies, and chatting with ancestors from the island.

⦁ Rock the Island Vibes

Dress Sims in tropical garb inspired by sun, sand, and waves. Or, gear up for water activities like snorkeling and swimming. Decorate a rustic oasis with home objects and unwind at the tiki bar. Everything is chill (except for the occasional sunburn) when it’s Island Living.

The first information about The Sims 4 Island Living and its title came from Panvision suggesting an official title and release date (June 21st, 2019).

I’ve been on a lookout for both suggested titles that have been roaming around including Island Living and Tropical Paradise. After trying to load up The Sims 4 Tropical Paradise I immediately got a 404 page, but after trying to load up Island Living I received a small flash of the product page and then it redirected me to 404. However, Google Chrome managed to save up all the assets in the Inspect Elements section and all of the links have shown up.

The Sims 4 Fanmade Mod Pack: Simdroids!

A modder by the name of @llazyneiph on tumblr has just released a brand new mod pack for The Sims 4, called Simdroids! The mod pack turns your Sims into super efficient droids that can be programmed to perform a wide variety of tasks!

The Sims 4 Fanmade Mod Pack: Simdroids!

From llazyneiph’s tumblr:

WHAT IS IT?

Simdroids is a traits based mod that gives you something a little different to play with, with the options of creating Simdroids to live amongst your sims.

The mod consists of one trait, the T-4L0S trait (under lifestyle) that is the basic model of every Simdroid. Once in game, you Simdroid can be programmed to one of 4 different modes; Perfect Partner, Celebdroid, Homemaker, and Manual Laborer.

Basic Model – The basic T-4L0S model is an all-rounder designed to make your Sims lives easier. They will not experience need decay and will learn all skills at an accelerated rate.

Perfect Partner – This mode will give your Simdroid whims and interactions that will help them to become a perfect match for your Sim. They will be able to learn skills such as charisma much faster. Due to the social nature of this setting, Perfect Partner Simdroids will experience social need decay.

Celebdroid – These Droids make perfect celebrities, as they learn all musical and theatrical skills much faster. Their whims will be related to all things creative! They also experience social decay!

Homemaker – When programmed to Homemaker, Simdroids will become a perfect live-in Nanny! They will take care of children and cook meals for the family, great for when the parents are working late. Their whims will relate to children and taking care of the home. Homemaker Droids do not experience need decay.

Manual Laborer Droid – These droids will take care of all handy issues around the house and excel at growing a garden. They will learn all handy and gardening related skills at an accelerated rate. Manual Laborer Droids do not experience need decay.

Childroid – Due to overwhelming response, I implemented a separate trait for toddlers, children and teens, called ‘Perfect Child’. They learn at an accelerated rate and will get whims related to completing homework and learning skills. Childroids will experience energy decay.

They have an option in their social interactions to turn both their hunger and temperature sensitivity on/off.

**Due to technically being a machine, Simdroids do not age. (You can cheat age them up though)

Every programmable option comes with custom moodlets and interactions!

Simdroids will always have a +10 fine moodlet, to keep them at a consistent ‘emotionless’ state.

In addition to the Simdroids, this modpack also comes with a new career with two branches, a new holiday tradition, a new lot trait, a new female hair, and three new outfits each for men and women.
What do you think of this new mod pack? Will you be adding it to your games?

The Sims Mobile: Quality of Life Update Patch Notes

SimGuruVix has revealed over on Twitter that the highly anticipated Quality of Life patch for The Sims Mobile is due to be rolled out in the coming hours. However, you can check out exactly what is a part of the upcoming patch by checking out the patch notes below.

Please note: At the time of publishing this article the Quality of Life update has not been rolled out.

The update is due to be released on 5th June 2019 at 6 pm PDT/6th June 2019 at 11 am AEST. (This is subject to change)

Via EA.com

Sul, sul!

You’ve asked, Sims Mobile fans, and we have heard you! Our Quality Of Life Update goes live today – YAY! Everyone on The Sims Mobile team here at Firemonkeys Studio was absolutely thrilled to hear how excited you all were to get this one in your hands!

Here are the full patch notes of the changes we have made:

Wumples’ Quests

Wumples, the sassiest Sim in the land, has arrived in town with all-new special quests. Each quest will come with new and exciting prizes, and prizes earned from these quests will unlock multiples of that item – which means you can purchase extra copies of the item for your Sims’ homes.

Storage Categories

Brand-new Storage Categories allow you to browse everything you own with ease! We’ve added sorting categories to Storage, which means items will be much easier to find, and recently used or earned items will appear in a special  ‘recent’ category!

New quest for 3rd Sim slot unlock
Expand your Sim family by adding a third Sim to your posse!  You now have an extra chance to unlock your third Sim with the new quest “Roommate Race”. Complete the quest and unlock the third Sim slot. The quest is available at player level 13.

Surprising choices adjustments
We made some adjustments to Surprising Choices to ensure there’s always a neutral option available, and removed some of the outcomes that have drawbacks.

LlamaZoom adjustments
We made a variety of tuning adjustments to the LlamaZoom system to make it more enjoyable:

  • The amount of tasks required by LlamaZoom has been reduced for high level players. This change affects players from approximately level 35 and up – with level 50 players receiving the largest reduction
  • The effort required to complete a LlamaZoom is now less variable. Previously each LlamaZoom could differ quite largely in effort required – they are now more consistent and predictable
  • Any stack of tasks will now always begin with a task that asks for events to be complete (say that five times fast!). This is to help those of you who enjoy preparing for LlamaZoom by having Sims do events before Emily arrives
  • Rewards have been rebalanced – including extra Simoleons upon completion. The rewards have been increased overall.

Hobby and Relationship rewards
The amount of Simoleons awarded from Hobbies and Relationships has been increased. The rewards are more on-par with Career rewards now.

Event Duration Surfacing
Events now clearly showcase the exact duration that they will take to complete. Now you can plan your Sims’ routine more easily.

Create-a-Sim variant pricing
Clothes and other items within Create-a-Sim have had their variants re-priced. All variants of an item will now share the same price, rather than varying from each other.

Photography and Influencer Quests
These two quests have been added to the level progression. You now have the opportunity to play the Photography quest once you reach level 8, and the Internet Icon quest when you reach level 15. These quests will trigger retroactively for those of you who are already above these levels

Some quests are now structured in Chapters

  • The first chapter begins unlocked
  • Each day a new chapter will become unlocked
  • Chapters will continue to unlock, even if you haven’t finished the previous one
  • The goal is to give players a chance to take a break and not need to go “full speed” from day one until the end of the quest

Heirloom Shelves

The maximum number of heirloom shelves has been increased from 3 to 6

Aaaaaaand that’s a wrap on this update! Download it now! <3

Until next time, enjoy Simmers!

Possible Leak: The Sims 4 Island Living Coming Later This Month

28

PLEASE NOTE: This post is pure speculation and doesn’t contain any official confirmation (yet) about the theme or content of The Sims 4’s upcoming pack.

Nordic retailer Pan Vision has uploaded a listing for The Sims 4 Island Living to their site very recently. Pan Vision has previously listed The Sims 4 Get Famous and The Sims 4 Seasons just ahead of their official announcements from The Sims team. More recently we have seen listings for a new expansion pack with the name Tropical Paradise.

Now while there seems to be a theme running with the leaks we have seen so far, this new listing gives us a few more details about when to expect the new pack which, in fact, is incredibly soon on 21st June 2019 and also a description about the pack too.

SimGuruKate announces resignation from The Sims Team

SimGuruKate who worked in The Sims Team as a Global Community Manager has announced today that she’ll be leaving EA / Maxis.

In the forum post that she wrote, the reason for her resignation is to focus more on her personal life and family.

We wish her all the best with her future endeavours!

SimGuruKate announces resignation from The Sims Team

Hello SimFam –

It is with sadness that I am letting you know that today is my last day with EA/The Sims. While this wasn’t an easy decision, I am stepping away from the world of community management to focus on being with and taking care of my family. Working on this game, and with this amazing Development Team, as Global Community Manager has been a dream come true and the highlight of my career. As a lifelong Simmer (who was inspired to get into this industry because of The Sims) getting to help build and grow this community has been nothing short of incredible. I am looking forward to all of you doing amazing things as Simmers, Creators, and Game Changers. I know you will absolutely love what the team has in store for you this year.

My ask to you as I leave is that you be kind and support one another, and do all you can to make this and the community a safe and happy place. Continue to welcome and support SimGuruFrost as he and all the SimGurus guide this amazing community.

While this is goodbye for now, I love this game/franchise and community so much and I promise you I won’t disappear for good, though now I get to enjoy this game just as another fan and Simmer. If you’d like to keep in touch feel free to follow me on my personal Twitter at https://twitter.com/KatWhispurrer or my Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/katwhispurrer/.
