The Sims Team has released the official description and key features of their upcoming Game Pack – Star Wars: Journey to Batuu that’s coming to The Sims 4 September 8th, 2020 on all platforms!

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Description & Key Features

Check out what the pack will offer:

Experience the Edge of the Galaxy – The Sims™ 4 Star Wars™: Journey to Batuu is set on the remote planet of Batuu, inspired by Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort® and Walt Disney World Resort®. Sims will be surrounded by the iconic sights and sounds of Star Wars including Stormtroopers, unique Batuuan attire, custom lightsabers, the bustling activity at the famous Oga’s Cantina, the interstellar hits of DJ R-3X and even the Millennium Falcon.

Create Your Star Wars Story – The Resistance, First Order, and scoundrels are fighting to control Batuu, and it’s up to players and their Sims to determine who will succeed. As Sims undertake challenges and special missions, they can gain (or lose) the trust of the affiliation of their choice, unlock rewards, equipment, new outfits and critical missions that will influence changes to the world and tip the balance of power.

Unite with Iconic Characters – Completing missions earns reputation points and helps them get closer to meeting the leaders of the forces on Batuu. Depending on the choices they make, Sims will unite with iconic Star Wars characters, including Rey and Vi Moradi (Resistance), Kylo Ren (First Order) or Hondo Ohnaka (scoundrels).

Create Your Own Lightsaber – Players will also get to explore Batuu and all it has to offer along their journey, including finding artifacts like kyber crystals and hilts to create the most coveted Star Wars artifact: a lightsaber. Once Sims collect enough pieces to construct a blade, they can build their fitness skill by training and go head to head against other Sims in lightsaber challenges.

Customize Your Droid Companion – Sims will also have a chance to visit the Droid Depot and customize their very own droid to help during missions. Droids are useful companions and can use their scanners on unknown crates, scramble control panels or distract rivals.

Bring Batuu Back Home – The fun doesn’t end on Batuu! When Sims return home, they can bring back new decor, recipes and artifacts inspired by their travels, including their lightsaber and droid, play a game of sabacc, or even host a playful lightsaber training session.

This is literally the pack that nobody in the Sims community was asking for.

It doesn’t look as bad as I was expecting. I’ll get probably get it only because what the modding community will be able to do with the lightsabers/blasters.

Absolutely, I totally agree with you. My question is when do we get expansion packs like, The mall, where you can buy and sells stores and the items within the store? When do we get a theme park sims where you can run your own themepark? When do we get a sims farming where we can actually interact with multiple animals from sheep to horses? When do we get expansion packs where we can build hotels or skyscrapers or buildings over 4 floors? When do we get round walls? There are so many other issues that need addressing. Why make a pack that such a small selection of people even like? What comes next? Are we to expect a Disney princess expansion pack? This is starting to turn into a joke and has me worried about the future of this game..

Now I’m a Star Wars fan and I’m happy this is happening, but…

Did it have to be the sequels? Like, cmon, I don’t wanna ‘meet Rey’ I wanna meet Darth Vader. I completely understand that this probably is related to what EA has the rights to, but it’s just… Not being rude, but the first order instead of the empire…? Really? How could you do this to us?

The market for this pack is so tiny, because not only do you have to be a Star Wars fan, you have to like the sequels too, which a sizeable portion of us do not.

I agree and while I don’t know many female Star Wars fans, but is one myself (it explains the complete Star Wars collection I got, all on Blu-ray), I too would prefer the main story in the Star Wars series instead of the sequel

EA is a joke. Why do this when you can play an actual Star Wars game? Tbh it would’ve been better if they did something original like Sims 3 into the future… not full on Star wars.

True Star Wars fan, love it all…but I am NOT excited about this game pack at all! I mean I can already dress as a Star Wars person (Darth Maul is my favorite) and like someone said, I can play a Star Wars game if I want more action. I will only buy if it is severely discounted, like 5 years from now!

They better me updating the GTW aliens. I’m disappointed. It feels more like a money grab aimed at Star Wars fans than sims fans. I can clearly see there was a lot of time and effort put into this and would likely appreciate it more if I was a Star Wars fan but I’m not and I wished other ideas had gotten the green light instead. I feel that if certain things don’t return in TS4 before TS5 launches it will cause a lot of tension especially since a pack like this came out. Happy for anyone who will enjoy it but I just personally feel like this is too niche for a game pack.

i guess the creators have officially run and ran out of ideas. Yet many Simmers have suggested game pack ideas already. but you know they’ll be plenty Star War fans wanting this it’ll make bank. Now if only Generations, Farming, or maybe more Destination locations can be a thing, that would be great.

We haven’t seen any gameplay or any new UI, so my understanding of the pack could be completely wrong, but I truly believe this pack lacks any substance.

Everything we have seen so far in the trailer has not shown us anything we don’t have. It took existing features (e.g. robots and aliens) and changed them to fit the Star Wars theme (e.g. droids and…alien-adjacent creatures). Furthermore, the linear storyline pack has already been done in The Sims 4 Strangerville, and while the first play through of The Sims 4 Strangerville can be exciting and fun, there’s nothing to bring you back to it. I fear that this is the path The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu has taken, but it is exceptionally worse because it has taken a story we already know and put it into a game that doesn’t have any relation to it.

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu is targeted to a very specific audience. I should put a disclaimer here that I am not a part of that audience, but to be honest, I’m not sure who the targeted audience is. Star Wars fans, perhaps. Although, I don’t think a Star Wars fan would see that The Sims is making a pack with Star Wars and say, “Yes, I will buy The Sims and then I will buy a game pack to go with it.” I could be wrong, as I have been many times before. The thought of having to leave a battle so your sim can take care of their bladders may be enticing to some fans for them to want to buy a game that, outside of this pack, has nothing to do with the franchise they love so much.

Perhaps the target audience for this pack is Star Wars fans who are also simmers. The Sims community is made up of a plethora of players filled with different interests, so I have no doubt EA will not struggle to find someone who wants to buy this pack, and to the simmers who want it, I truly hope it lives up to your expectations and wishes.

The collaboration is odd. Sure, the Star Wars outfits and objects that are already in game are cute—that baby Yoda statue definitely made a stir in the community, but to have a whole pack dedicated to Star Wars—I’m lost.

The biggest problem I have with this pack is that it adds little that we didn’t already have, and what it adds is not something that would be missed if it were never added.

The world is absolutely stunning. The Sims 4 has always looked beautiful (on computers that can run it on better graphics than the low-medium setting I have mine on). The species we saw on Batuu looked really cool, but I have to wonder if they’re just CAS assets (specifically a skin detail) instead of occults, essentially making them appear to regular sims in game as…regular sims.

The Sims 4 trailers try to showcase all new aspects into them. In The Sims 4, what you see is what you get, and what did we see? Where’s the integration? The replayability? We got some light sabers and aircrafts. Undoubtedly that is cool, but then what can we do?

Star Wars works much better as a stand-alone game than a pack added to The Sims. The Sims has always been meant for the player to make up their own story and for the player to live through the story with occasional disruptions and derailings that may completely change the planned outcome. With The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, we know the outcome. While “it’s about the journey not the destination” is a valid response, if The Sims 4 Strangerville has taught us anything, it’s that we will have only one path to get to the finale, but this time, let’s hope it’s not an aspiration.

When we’re done with the story, what can we do? Is there anything new to be discovered? Will we just be sent back to Willow Creek with a few collectibles, a droid, and a light saber?

My one request to The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu is a simple one:

Prove me wrong.

Whilst there are simmers that will purchase and will play this pack I am struggling to understand why and where the justification come from when we for so long have no received some of the bare basics that would compliment a much larger portion of the sim community.

Need to change it to the rebellion and Galactic Empire don’t you know anything about Star Wars there’s a possible plan to erase the sequel trilogy so why not pick the Empire and Rebellion something that will not be erased unless I can get a lightsaber and erase the sequel trilogy Myself by killing kylo, Rey, the resistance and the first order so all that’s left are the scoundrels that would be acceptable I guess but the best thing to do is change it from the first order to the Galactic Empire and from the resistance to the Rebellion don’t hate on the Star Wars fans with this trash
