Another round of Marketplace Maker packs has arrived, with Thursdays seemingly becoming the regular day for Maxis and EA to update the in-game store. This time, we’re taking a look at The Sims 4 Modern Basics by Miiko, an exclusive Create-a-Sim CC set inspired by modern streetwear commonly seen in city centres and often associated with celebrity style. The pack is priced at 300 Moola ($3 USD).
This Maker pack includes 16 new items for both masculine and feminine frames. While it may seem like it offers a wide variety of clothing, some pieces are shared between both, meaning there are fewer unique items than it might initially appear.

Take a Look at the Included Clothes
As we said, The Sims 4 Modern Basics Maker Pack brings sixteen new Create A Sim items, all focused on modern Sims who love wide-length clothes and keep their identities on cover. The set is made up of 3 tops, 6 bottoms, a pair of shoes, and 4 accessories (2 pairs of socks, 1 pair of earrings, and glasses). Also, bring new nails.

Some Free Alternatives to Choose From!
Dahlia Set by Serenity
This free CC set by Serenity is an all-female pack designed for Sims who lean into modern, streetwear-inspired fashion. The set includes 12 items that follow a similar style to the Marketplace pack, but stands out by offering more accessories, such as necklaces, and a slightly more polished, formal touch.
This free CC set is designed for both masculine and feminine frames, offering a more tailored and formal approach compared to the previous pack. It includes five full outfits, each built as complete looks rather than individual pieces.
This set, also created by Rusty's, leans more towards a streetwear style, similar to the Miiko Maker Pack. It includes a total of five items: two tops, two pairs of pants, and one hairstyle, offering a more casual and mix-and-match approach.
Overall, this Maker Pack feels more in line with its price point compared to others in the Marketplace. Its modern aesthetic brings a slightly fresher direction to Create-a-Sim, with pieces like the chunky boots standing out as the clear highlight, much like how official EA kits often include one defining item that carries the set.
That said, the pack does raise some concerns. There is a noticeable amount of asset repetition between masculine and feminine frames, even if the chosen clothing style naturally leans towards more unisex pieces such as blazers, trousers, and thick-soled shoes. While this design choice makes sense visually, it can still make the overall offering feel more limited than expected.
Some additions, like the new nails, are appreciated, although they do not always seem to fit perfectly with the Sims’ hands in-game. The variation between certain items also feels somewhat minimal, particularly in cases like the skirt, where the differences between versions are not especially significant.
Within the current Marketplace context, this remains a somewhat tricky pack to evaluate. It introduces interesting ideas and a cohesive style, yet still reflects some of the broader concerns surrounding value and content variety. Even so, it manages to come across as one of the more approachable entries.
What's your opinion in this Miiko's Maker Pack? Let us know down in the comments! Don't forget to check out all about the Marketplace context in our website.

I wonder what percentage of the supposed success of the market is people buying it to review. It might me impossible to calculate, I just wonder.
This pack is similarly made of Frankenmeshes like Oakiyo’s pack, I am pretty certain. I didn’t put in the labor to find the exact pieces this time.
But I was muted from the Sims Official Discord for merely MENTIONING THAT THIS HAPPENED.
And when I appealed, they confirmed- yep, it’s inappropriate “off topic conversation” to mention that frankenmeshed sets exist on the marketplace- despite having a full conversation a week prior with names, example, and outrage all present.
They don’t want you to notice that they’re allowing CC creators to post EA content you already paid for.
I give EA a lot of wiggle room. I give them a lot of good faith. I think it’s possible this is community manager overreach and ignorance, and not the official stance of the company. But it sure reads as if EA thinks this is okay, and doesn’t want you to discuss that it’s not.
(Additionally, they have no information a full month later on questions we asked about modding marketplace content- and as a result, custom content creation tools cannot update to support the new Kit installation directory. These creators and the marketplace are not only damaging the paid content experience but the free one, too.)
I’ve made it known many times before I am not a fan of the often inflammatory and essentially-sourceless-rumors-based content on this platform. But I wouldn’t mind at all if you did an article on this crap.
The fact that EA refuses to answer the question of if we’re allowed to edit Marketplace content at all is actively harming the CC community, and needs to be made known, too, and I do think the two are connected topics because-
We are currently in a situation where:
Repurposing EA paid content to sell it a second time is happily endorsed and rewarded with an entire professional platform and promotional materialRepurposing EA paid content for free as CC like we’ve done for 26 years is in question (due to the kits moving to the marketplace format and nobody being informed enough to tell us if S4S is allowed to read those files and let people edit them)
And nobody seems willing to answer to these things.

Are you saying we won’t be able to make recolors of kit items from now on due to the marketplace? That would be awful. Do you have any link to where this is discussed?
When the Marketplace Q&A went up, we asked about it. The person doing the Q&A, Mindy, did not seem to understand the question and we had to clarify repeatedly.
The question was basically “For 26 years we’ve been modifying paid EA pack content to make CC. Can we still do that with Marketplace content, or will get takedown notices?”.
She did not have an answer, and promised to push the question up the chain of command to get one. That was a month and a day ago.
In the meantime, because Kits are now in the same format as Marketplace content, and we do not know the legalities of making Marketplace edits, Sims 4 Studio cannot be updated to support the Marketplace format. Which by association…means it cannot support kits. Which means if any new kits come out, they cannot be busted into to get their items and modify them for the time being- and if you reinstall the game and your kits get moved to the new format, the existing Sims 4 Studio versions cannot open them any longer.
Until someone actually gives the go-ahead on editing Marketplace content, Sims 4 Studio cannot update to support editing it.
The only place it’s OFFICIALLY been discussed is the Sims 4 Discord, and the most recent response is “No information at this time” (as of yesterday, when I was banned from the discord for daring to point out that Frankenmeshed Marketplace Sets were happening again.)
