With little prompting and only sent to certain playtesters, a new official survey from EA has surfaced! A closed Sims 4 Survey, meaning that only certain people were given access to it, was sent out that covers overall satisfaction with The Sims 4 and the Sims Franchise in general, as well as player opinions on the Sims 4 Marketplace Maker Packs, both currently and in the future.
Since this is a closed survey, there is sadly no publicly available link, and we likely won't know the results of this survey and what it leads to for quite some time. Read on for the questions EA is asking about players and... marketplace mods?

I was sent this survey and filled it out, but I had no idea it was only sent to certain players!! I was very honest and blunt with my opinion since I figured it was sent to everybody so no one was likely to read it, and I still doubt mine will be read honestly but maybe we’ll finally see some change in the game and some hope for the future lol

lol new gameplays sound nice on paper but the marketplace was out for more than five months and despite some maker packs being heavily bugged (duplicated swatches, missing shadows and missing meshes, etc) none have received any fixes. And these maker packs are all essentially just glorified CCs where fixes should be easy like how quickly we received fixes for the Sleek Bathroom kit mesh problems. Now imagine they give us maker mod packs… prepare for non refundable paywalled mods that never work as intended and break your game. And the cherry on top is that they’ll never receive any fixes. You are screwed. Period.

EA keeps getting worst. I was sent this survey as well, and there was a part asking whether we’d be okay with Makers creating Gameplay Maker Packs featuring new traits, new ways Sims behave, NPCs, and new ways they interact with the world around them. My answer was ABSOLUTELY NOT.
And for context, this isn’t based on the survey alone. It’s an accumulation of skepticism about where the Marketplace and Maker Program could be heading. The Sims Resource highlighted an interview with Maker SimsPancake, where we learned that Makers are getting access to official EA development tools to create their Marketplace content. EA has essentially built an official production pipeline around Makers. Now we’re seeing a survey asking about Makers creating actual gameplay. Put those things together and, yeah, I’m concerned.
I didn’t have an issue with the nature of Marketplace (aside to who the money goes to now) as long as it stayed within the realm of base-game content — especially cosmetic content or reworked models. But actual gameplay is where I draw the line. EA should be the one refreshing and improving the DLC it sold us and for free, as part of the DLC we’ve already bought. Not potentially having Makers create new gameplay for those packs, then making us pay for missing parts of DLC again through Maker Packs. Now EA hasn’t said that’s specifically what they’re planning, so I’m not going to pretend they have. But it’s a legitimate concern given this direction.
And who really wins from this? Not the Maker, who’s doing the creative and development work on their own time without being paid by EA for that labor while only receiving a percentage of our purchases. Not the Simmer, who potentially has to pay again for functionality that EA could have developed themselves. EA is the real winner here. They’re getting an expanded content pipeline, with the community doing the creative work without EA compensating them for their time, while Simmers finance that work through their purchases and EA takes the bigger percentage.
I’m not against Makers making money, and I’m not against the Marketplace. A Town/World Maker Pack? Fine. That can remain within the base-game realm. But new traits, NPCs, behaviors, interactions and actual gameplay? Hell no.
Because if this eventually becomes a way for EA to supplement or refresh its existing DLC through Makers, then EA has effectively turned parts of its modding community into an extension of its development pipeline. EA shouldn’t be monetizing the shortcomings of DLC it already sold us. It should be fixing and expanding that content itself.

New Sims voices are long overdue, especially for children who have only 2 voices. There needs to be some voices for children that might be more mature leading up to a teen or pre-teen. Pre-teens themselves have long been requested. Also even some voices with accents like British, French, Asian. It’s all part of adding character to a sim.

What a stupid survey. Can’t even be bothered polling us in Australia because we don’t matter to them.
