The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack is packed with new gameplay! With so many things to try out you may miss out some of these important features that come with the pack:
1) Set the table!
Although it doesn’t bring anything new except nice aesthetics and manner character value points for children / teens if they set them up, it’s still a perfect way to gather your entire family and have a nice conversation over breakfast, lunch or dinner.
2) Sibling Rivalries
Sibling rivalries really come to life in The Sims 4 Parenthood. There are a dozen of new “Mean” interactions your children and teens can perform to each other, and some of them are quite hilarious such as the “Trick into Believing We’re All in a Simulation” interaction.
3) Volunteering
Teens, Adults and Elders can help out the less fortunate by volunteering! Simply click the phone and under the travel tab select “Volunteer”. There are 5 activities that you can participate in:
Volunteer at a Bake Sale
Volunteer at a Beach Cleanup
Volunteer at a Nursing Home
Volunteer at a Soup Kitchen
Walk to Fight Disease
Although you won’t actually be able to see what your Sim is doing at least you’ll have some control over the outcome with chance cards. Teen Sims will have the opportunity to earn character values depending on chance card choices.
4) School Projects
Nothing better than helping raise your grades up and earn character values at the same time! There are 7 school projects that you can build – some bring fun new animations while some are just fun to look at.
5) The Journal
Who knew such a small object could bring that much gameplay? You can use the journal to relieve off your emotions (or bring them back) and those sneaky siblings can even use it when you’re not looking to snoop through it. You can be careful and hide it some place safe, like under your bed.
The Sims Team uploaded official creations that you’ve seen in promotional material for The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack. This includes 2 new households and a lot!
Only a few hours away from the release of The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack!
Many simmers have requested a countdown to the release of this pack so I’ve decided to add one for you. Down below you can keep track of hours, minutes and seconds until The Sims 4 Parenthood is available for purchase on Origin. There is a chance that The Sims Team may release this pack a few minutes earlier from the time set down below so make sure you keep a close look on our Parenthood News Category!
The Sims Team takes on the Generations concept for The Sims 4 with The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack. Of course like with previous TS4 packs, this one has a bit of a different theme and goal of the pack with different objects and interactions. Is it really worth the $20 price and should you get it? Find out in our review!
This review is based on 15+ hours of gameplay. Even though I was given an early review copy to test the game, I am not by any means paid or bribed to state positive (or negative) opinions about this stuff pack. I will give my honest opinion of the stuff pack; its content and what it brings to the game.
Create A Sim
There’s a decent amount of new items in CAS. However, it seems that not all ages get their fair share. Toddlers only get 2 outfits and no new hairstyles while Kids get a lot more than that. All in all, what you get fits nicely with the pack’s theme.

Build Mode
Considering this is only a Game Pack there’s a good amount of new objects in Build Mode (around 80). There are plenty of new school projects you can buy, some nice living room items (2×2 coffee tables!) and there are enough homey kitchen and bathroom objects that you can treat them as an individual Stuff Pack.

Gameplay
Once I created my family with a toddler, child, teen and 2 adults and moved them into a pre-made Parenthood house, I realized there wasn’t really anything new to the game except Character Values that I’ve found in the user interface for toddlers, children and teens. Or so I thought….
Before I continue with explaining what’s new in The Sims 4 Parenthood, know this: you WON’T have fun with cheats on. I learned that after maxing out my Sims’ parenting skills and locking their needs – it’s not a challenging game until you have to prepare food for your Sims and having to bear with their Picky Eater phase.
So, what’s new? At first, not much, but after playing the game for a couple of hours I’ve noticed that there’s so much new gameplay hidden deep in Parenting Skill, Character Values and random family scenarios that occur from time to time.
Character Values
I made my child Sim set the table and she was rewarded with some positive Manner points. In case you didn’t know, Toddlers, Children and Teens get 5 new Character Values: Manners, Responsibility, Conflict Resolution, Empathy and Emotional Control. Sims get different character value points depending on the interaction you’ve chosen. For example, if they choose to be mean to other Sims they’ll get negative empathy character value points.
Everyday actions will now influence your character values. Did you order your Sim to mop up the floor? They’ll earn positive responsibility character values. Want to play around and make your belch for no reason? They’ll earn negative manner character values. The simplest tasks you’ve performed before Parenthood are now rewarded (and punished) through character values, and it’ll slowly shape up your Sim once they grow up.
Once your Sim grows up into a young adult all that hard work (or slacking off) will pay off. Depending on how well you took care of your Sim’s character values they’ll earn certain traits that stick around for the rest of their lives. Sims with positive empathy will earn the compassionate trait, allowing them to relieve other Sims from negative emotions. However, Sims with negative empathy will earn the insensitive trait, making it much more awkward to socialize with Sims who feel under the weather. I won’t spoil much and don’t worry, you still have 8 character value traits to explore (10 character traits overall).
Parenting
“Why is parenting a skill?” is the first question that popped into my head when this Pack was announced. Later I’ve realized that the answer is pretty simple: just like in The Sims 4 Parenthood, there are skilled and unskilled parents / caregivers in the real world. Not every caregiver excells at their parenting with their first child and they often seek for help from other people and books.
The Sims 4 Parenthood does just that. Unskilled caregivers can seek tips for parenting in books, online forums or ask other caregivers in their neighborhood about their parenting techniques. But, the best way to level up your parenting skill is to watch your young sims every step of their way and encourage / discourage certain interactions they’ve performed. It’s sort of like training dogs and cats in The Sims 2 Pets!
There’s so much more to parenting once you level up: grounding Sims and not allowing them to use the phone, listen to music or anything else that might give them enjoyment and also give them time outs, disallowing them to do any type of interactions for a certain amount of time.
Phases
There are new phases for Children and Teen that occur randomly. They act as temporary traits that mostly have a negative effect on their (or someone else’s) life one way or another. For example, teens may get a craving to perform mean interactions on other Sims. That’ll give them happy buffs but with a cost of making someone else mad. Then there are children who don’t feel like eating certain types of meals which could be a living hell for your parent who spent plenty of simhours trying to make lobster thermidor (it’ll be the best for you and your caregivers to just give them cereal or other types of quick food).
Teens can also get mood swings which make them really, really sad for 4 hours. They’re not really a phase and more like a random buff but their randomness makes them worth mentioning in this section.
Teachable Moments
Every now and then your child / teen will ask their caregiver some cruicial life tips. Sometimes you’re in control on which parents’ answer will influence which character values while sometimes you may only get one option which will as well influence your younger sim’s character values. All in all a very welcome addition to the pack.

Misc Gameplay & New Social Interactions
Doctor playsets, craftable school projects and building blocks set for all ages are just some of the new interactive objects you get to play with. Sims can stress out their emotions into a journal and hide it under a bed and you can also write post-it notes and make drawings on the new family bulletin board. This pack has it all, except the bunkbeds which was the biggest let-down for me but oh well…

Not only are there new interactions between younger sims and their caregivers but there are plenty of new interactions between sibilings which was seriously lacking in the base game. Here are some of my favorite teen + child social interactions:
Argue about Who’s Better
Insult Existence
Trick into Believing We’re All in a Simulation
Joke about Boogers
I’m really surprised at how much gameplay has The Sims Team packed into this Game Pack. Sure, it may not bring the longly requested bunk beds that everyone’s been wanting for but everything else just fits perfectly into the rest of the game.
The Sims 4 really is nothing without the family aspect, and this Game Pack makes that aspect 100% better.
Only a few hours until you can get your hands on The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack!
The Game Pack comes out tomorrow. More specifically, May 30th at 10AM PT / 6PM GMT / 7PM CET (there is no official confirmation but all previous packs were released at that time).
I’m still in the middle of writing my game review for The Sims 4 Parenthood, but until then you can check out plenty of articles we published HERE, including overviews, cheats, gameplay information and more. Huge thanks to EA for providing me with an Early Access code and I can’t wait for you all to check out this amazing pack – it truly adds more interesting and complex gameplay to the entire The Sims 4 experience.
We know that The Sims Team likes to play with object descriptions every now and then, and there are no exceptions in The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack.
The most hilarious ones that @AndrewArcade pointed out are the ones that you can found in the debug mode of build mode. (simply enter the testingcheats true and then bb.showhiddenobjects cheats). These are basically invisible objects that only appear when your toddler / child decides to make a mess on the floor. Looks like The Sims Team decided to add those effects in build mode and write some hilarious object names and descriptions for them:
1obj
2obj
3obj
4obj
But that’s not all! It looks like The Sims Team, beside adding a paw symbol to a new Parenthood jacket, has started to tease The Sims 4 Pets more freely. Is the first object possibly hinting at the veterinary career?
Zerbu and I were able to extract the cheats for The Sims 4 Parenthood! Down below you’ll see a list of cheats for Traits, Phases and Character Values that you can add and modify.
Please note that these cheats won’t function until you enter the testingcheats truecheat.
Sims 4 Parenthood Trait Cheats
Argumentative – traits.equip_trait argumentative
Good Manners – traits.equip_trait goodmanners
Bad Manners – traits.equip_trait badmanners
Compassionate – traits.equip_trait compassionate
Emotional Control – traits.equip_trait emotionalcontrol
The character values have values, with -100 being the most negative one and 100 being the most positive one. Down below you can find the character value cheats and replace the value text in square brackets with an actual number value.
In The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack, Children and Teenagers go through specific phases that act out as temporary traits. They are random and happen at nonspecific points of their lives. Here are all the phases your child and teen can go through:
Phases
Picky Eater (Child Phase) – It’s good to be a Picky Eater. Keep all those nasty culinary concoctions away from the Sim. They will prefer to eat their favorite Quick Meal.
The Picky Eater phase is probably the most complex one, as there are 6 different versions of this phase – each having different sets of recipes that’ll make your child sim sad. It’s unclear exactly which recipes will your sim dislike but know that they’ll definitely avoid any type of complex dishes that you’re able to prepare at high cooking skill levels. Keep it simple by preparing spaghetti or pancakes for your child sim to avoid any disturbance.
Your caregiver can ask about eating habits and encourage them to eat food.
Distant (Teen Phase) – This teen has become distant. Being near and interacting with family has started to stress them out. The world just doesn’t understand them.
With this trait your teen sims will feel tense around their family members. It’ll be for the best if you keep your sim in his / her room during this phase.
Loud (Child Phase) – This Sim is letting the world hear her / his voice! This Sim yells, makes noise on instruments, and will listen to music as loud as possible. Earplugs are advised for other family members.
Mean Streak (Teen Phase) – It is time to be Mean just because. This Sim is feeling nasty and will relish the chance to be Mean to other Sims.
Teen Sims with this phase trait will generally feel happier when being mean to other Sims.
Rebellious (Teen Phase) – Growing up means rebelling against the old fuddy duddy’s rules. This Sim will argue with their parents more often, swear, and procrastinate when doing homework.
I’m a Bear! (Child Phase) – Be the Bear! This child will accept nothing less than dressing as an amazing fruit-themed ruler of the forest. It will feel unbearable to wear any other outfits.
Your child sim will want to switch up their clothes for a bear costume – otherwise they’ll get a +2 sad buff.
Clingy (Child Phase) – This Sim feels safest when interacting with their caregiver. There is no reason to interact with otherse when you have such an amazing person in your life. Forcing this Sim to interact with others will stress them out.
The Sims 4 Parenthood comes with 11 new traits, most of which you can earn through character values as a Toddler / Child / Teen. Here are all the new traits and what they offer:
Traits
Argumentative (From Having Negative Conflict Resolution) – Argumentative Sims don’t always start conversations on the right foot with Sims they don’t like. Successfully apologizing is harder and they do try to assert their correctness more often than not.
Socializing is kinda a challenge with this trait and you might not be off to a good start when making a new relationship with a Sim you’ve just met.
Bad Manners (From Having Negative Manners) – Sims with Bad Manners can try to be Friendly, but will always fail using certain socials. They will often use gross manners, swear a lot, and never want to do the dishes.
Sims with Bad Manners are somehow similar to Sims with the Argumentative trait, except you’ll get funnier results with the Bad Manners trait. Also, you may just want to skip doing the dishes and drag them into the dishwasher / sink yourself.
Compassionate (From Having Positive Empathy) – Compassionate Sims can help other Sims relieve their negative emotions. They can also empathize with them by Sharing Emotional Burdens. However, these Sims get stressed when being Mean.
05 27 17 11 55 21 PM
Capture 28
Emotional Control (From Having Positive Emotional Control) – Sims who have the Emotional Control Trait can relieve negative moods by jogging, listening to certain music, blogging on the computer, or playing an instrument. In general, their negative emotions will go away faster than other Sims.
Good Manners (From Having Positive Manners) – Sims with Good Manners won’t want to do any gross manners interactions, at least not in front of anyone. They also have a new Polite Introduction and can gain friendly relationships faster. Good Mannered Sims can also Offer Gratitude to the Host of a house they are visiting.
This trait is perfect for leaving good first impressions, plus it’ll leave your sim in a very happy mood for performing well mannered interactions.
05 28 17 12 08 08 AM
05 28 17 12 07 42 AM
Irresponsible (From Having Negative Responsibility) – Irresponsible Sims are uncomfortable at work, but ignoring bills and slacking off brings them joy. They may also encounter new situations when at work.
You’ll encounter hilarious new career chance cards with this trait, but most of them will result in performance loss.
Mediator (From Having Positive Conflict Resolution) – Mediator Sims have a higher chance at successfully apologizing to other Sims and can Mediate the Forums. They can also mend differences with Sims they have not been friendly with for a long time.
Responsible (From Having Positive Responsibility) – Responsible Sims perform better at their jobs and can teach children and teens how to be responsible.
Teaching sims about responsibility will give huge responsibility character value points to your child / teen sim.
Uncontrolled Emotions (From Having Negative Emotional Control) – Sims with Uncontrolled Emotions won’t be able to relieve their negative emotions as fast as other Sims. When they have strong negative emotions, they may have an emotional meltdown.
Watch out, with the uncontrolled emotions trait your Sims are more prone to dying from emotional deaths such as death by anger or death by embarrasement.
Insensitive (From Having Negative Empathy) – Insensitive Sims are able to Question other Sims’ negative emotions. They can also instigate other Sims. Insensitive Sims will have a higher chance of failing socially when talking to Sims with bad emotions.
Role Model (From Completing the Super Parent Aspiration) – Gives bonus Character Value scoring when near Toddlers, Children, or Teens.

Here’s all the new soundtrack that comes with Parenthood:
So you may remember back in July when The Sims Team released The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff and it featured this tank top with first 2 swatches having a city themed pattern…If not, here’s a picture:
..and just like that, 2 months after, The Sims 4 City Living was announced.
Now, The Sims Team has added a jacket in The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack that for some reason wasn’t shown in any advertising material until its release. Notice that paw?
Which paw? This paw:
Okay, the paw was too obvious and maybe didn’t need to be pointed out, but you get it. Why would The Sims Team add a cat / dog paw stitched onto a jacket?
