The Sims published a new clip for The Sims 4 Parenthood, showing off two new parenting methods!
The Sims 4 Eco Living: Help Us Pick Objects and Clothing For a New Stuff Pack
Via TheSims.com!
Welcome back Simmers! You’ve arrived just in time to take part in the next round of voting for our upcoming Stuff Pack – a collaboration between Maxis, and each and every one of you. If you’re just joining us, this is an exciting new project that we unveiled in April, and I’d encourage you to learn more about it in our announcement blog.
This vote will be the most in-depth one yet, and it’s your choices that have helped us create what you’ll be seeing here today. In the initial vote you selected eco-living as a broad theme for this Stuff Pack. In the second vote, you picked your favorite art style that you felt best represented the theme. Our discussions so far have been about how this pack feels, how it looks, and what it’s about… vague concepts that help provide direction as we move forward. In today’s vote though, you’ll be selecting many of the actual assets that you’ll play with when you get your hands on this pack.
In the weeks since our last blog, our concept artists have been hard at work drawing a variety of objects and clothing that fits within the selected art style. For objects, we thought this pack would be well suited for players who want to build a sunroom or a mudroom, and focused on the types of objects you would find in that setting. For clothing, we were really drawn to minimalist clothing done in a country boho style.
Your contributions have continued to be important; the overwhelming response to SimGuruKimmi’s reference post on the forums has provided inspiration for the concept art that you’ll see within the survey.
During development of a typical Stuff Pack, this would be the point in the process where our Art Director would provide recommended selections. We would then meet as a group to discuss what we liked, what we wanted to change, and what we felt was needed to release a cohesive pack. With a community vote, we’re going to have to handle this process a bit differently, and I want to take a moment to explain how this vote will work in the interest of transparency.
In the survey, you’ll select your favorite assets in two categories – one for objects, and one for clothing and Sim accessories. Each section will have a collage that displays the different assets that you can select from. In the objects section, you’ll select up to 28 of your favorite objects. In the clothing section, you’ll select up to 14 of your favorite pieces of clothing and accessories.
Now, while you as an individual may choose a well-rounded pack through your selections, when we tally the entire community’s vote together the balance of what was selected may be skewed. For example, we don’t want to create a pack where a third of our objects are chairs, and all of the pieces of clothing are shirts. We want to make a pack that offers a bit of something for everyone. We’ll be interpreting the voting results to pluck out your top choices across a range of different types of objects and clothing, so that the pack can be used to build a complete room, or dress a Sim in a complementary outfit.
This survey will take approximately ten minutes to complete, as you browse through the art and narrow things down to your top choices. Voting ends on May 21, 2017 at 10AM PT.
Click here to take the survey.
Clearly our concept artists have been busy, and the rest of us on the Stuff Pack team will be getting heavily involved soon. The Feature Vote on June 23rd is just around the corner, so we’ll be holding brainstorms and writing short design blurbs (our term for mini designs comprised of a few sentences). In the meantime, please continue to participate in SimGuruGraham’s Corner on the forums, and make note of these important dates:
• Objects & Clothing Vote (May 18th – May 21st): Browse through the concept art we’ve drawn for the pack, and select your top choices to help us determine which objects and pieces of clothing are included.
• Feature Vote (June 23rd – June 26th): Select the top gameplay feature(s) you want to have included in the pack.
• Pack Icon Vote (Fall): Peruse different icons and select the one that will appear in the pack’s box art and within the in-game catalog.
• Pack Title Vote (Fall): Select a title that best summarizes the pack’s atmosphere and content.
You may find answers to commonly asked questions in the FAQ for this project.
The Sims Mobile: Frequently Asked Questions (Part 2)
The Sims Mobile sent us some of your most frequently asked questions answered by them. You can check out the first part HERE!
The Sims Mobile – Frequently Asked Questions (Part 2!)
Is The Sims 4 team the same team that develops The Sims Mobile?
The Sims 4 Team and The Sims Mobile team are both proudly part of Maxis, however both development teams work separately. The Sims Mobile team is comprised of a variety of very talented people, some who have worked on previous The Sims titles, and some who come from a mobile background.
With the announcement and release of The Sims Mobile, how does this affect The Sims 4?
The announcement of The Sims Mobile does not impact the development of The Sims 4 or any future Sims 4 content. Both The Sims 4 and The Sims Mobile are part of the Maxis family, but function separately within the organisation.
Is this a port of the Sims 4 to mobile platform?
The Sims Mobile is a brand-new addition to The Sims family. We have been taken into account many of the key learnings and best practices shared by The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay, and drawn particular inspiration from The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge, but The Sims Mobile is not a port or new version of either.
What is the main inspiration behind the creation of The Sims Mobile?
We’ve always been inspired by the creativity of the Sims Community for years, and the Legacy Challenge has been one of the stand outs for us. We’ve taken inspiration from that and incorporated some other key elements to create The Sims Mobile.
Why does The Sims Mobile have a very similar art style to The Sims 4?
One of our goals in creating the art style for The Sims Mobile was to unify the visual identity between our titles so that all our players can tell, wherever they are playing, that they are playing a Sims game. Through our visual style we are bringing The Sims family closer together.
Is this a reskin/remake of The Sims FreePlay?
The Sims Mobile is a brand-new addition to The Sims family. We have been taken into account many of the key learnings and best practices shared by The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay, and drawn particular inspiration from The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge, but The Sims Mobile is not a port or new version of either.
Does The Sims Mobile use ‘real time’ actions similar to The Sims FreePlay? (eg, actions that take hours to complete)
There are timed actions within The Sims Mobile but they are not based on ‘real time’. The majority of actions within The Sims Mobile are seconds to minutes long. There are a few actions that are in hours but they fall into the minority.
Does The Sims Mobile require players to pay?
The Sims Mobile is available to download and play for free. Any and all microtransactions within The Sims Mobile are definitely optional.

FreeSO’s HUGE Update Adds + Improves a lot of things
FreeSO (an unofficial reincarnation of The Sims Online) is still going strong, and their latest update proves just that. The game now has its own lighting that you can enable in the game option and it looks amazing combined with the nostalgic 2D scenery.
Other than the new graphics, the latest update brings back the Relationship Web, some new Plugins and plenty of new bug fixes:
- Fully reworked lighting, GPU accelerated light-maps with soft shadowing.
- Friendship Web UI – completely redone from scratch for usability. Find the easiest marks for improving your friendship for career goals and other benefits.
- Band Group Money Object – A new group money object utilising your creativity, body and creativity. Remember longer sequences for exponentially more money!
- Wargame Object & Plugin – A minigame object featuring cool hats. Compete to gain logic skill!
- Draw a Card Plugin – Set up a deck of cards for a custom defined game, and sims can draw from it. Chance/Community Chest cards (hint hint), raffles, cluedo, and more are possible.
- Timer Plugin – Some extra muscle for your games and events, displaying a real time clock to help you co-ordinate timed actions with friends.
- AFK Timer – Saving our servers some hassle! If you do not perform any interactions in 15 minutes, you will be given a 5 minute prompt to confirm you are still present. This is partially to save our servers and boot people who accidentally get “stuck” on lots.
- Admins and Roommates can now join lots that are full. Admins have special privileges to delete objects which should not be present.
- Pizza payout has now been slightly improved to encourage people to stop playing just Code. (thanks chompers)
- Graphics Options for fine grain control on FreeSO specific enhancements.
- Money over head for transactions. The most important feature.
- Various bugfixes and performance improvements throughout the game. (lot page lag, landing time, object crashes, etc) Pretty much most bugs that have been prominent in our #bug-reports channel, sans the restaurant ones.
To get the latest update simply open FreeSO and login to start your download.
The Sims Mobile’s CAS Soundtrack is everything you wanted
I think we all agree that there’s something to The Sims 2’s Soundtrack that makes us relisten all the awesome CAS, Buy, Build and Neighborhood tunes from time to time.
In case you didn’t know, The Sims Mobile comes with its own Soundtrack and it turns out, all Soundrack for this game were composed by Silas Hite – the same guy who composed some of your favorite The Sims 2 music!
Beside the karaoke tunes he composed for The Sims 4 City Living, Silas’ last in-game music project for The Sims was The Sims 2 Bon Voyage. It’s really great to hear similar instruments we’ve heard in The Sims 2 with different melodies. I’m really hoping The Sims Team has more plans with this talented composer!
You can listen to The Sims Mobile’s CAS Soundtrack composed by Silas Hite down below:

The Sims Blog: Become a Better Sim Parent with The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack!
Via TheSims.com!
Gather around for a family meeting. We have some big things to discuss about the household. Why is that? Well, today we’re thrilled to show off The Sims™ 4 Parenthood Game Pack*, which releases globally for PC and Mac via Origin™ on May 30, 2017.
This is very exciting for us as its been a major community request, which is more, and deeper family focused game play. With toddlers finally in Simmer homes everywhere, we knew this was the perfect time to take a look at your Sim’s home to see which stories you haven’t yet told.
The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack adds a few significant features that will change daily life. Your Sim’s offspring will be more ill-behaved than ever, with rebellious teenagers and toddlers who chomp down on their siblings. But don’t worry! The new Parenting Skill gives the adults in the room a way to set these problems upright.
And it doesn’t stop there! Parenting has long term consequences, which leads us to the new Character Values Traits. If your Sims take the time to teach their children good manners, like setting the table, and trying to not burp, swear, or fart, they can grow up with new Traits that will positively affect their lives forever. Or, if they don’t do these things, well, there are Traits with consequences of another stripe…
It isn’t all serious life-changing decisions though. Children will bring home new school projects to work on after class with parents and siblings as well. These create permanent, hilarious objects, like erupting volcanoes and backyard rockets. Future medical professionals can practice their stethescoping skills on teddy bears. Plus, new clothing styles and the perfect household items to really make the home look like, well, the home of your story.
The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack is the perfect addition to your Sim’s home that will help you tell new stories that really get to the heart of your Sims. It’s hilarious, serious, touching, and silly, all in one home shaped box. Be sure to check out The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack on PC and Mac via Origin on May 30, 2017.
