Origin is giving out The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection to Simmers who have at least 1 The Sims 2 game registered on their account.
Dear Origin Gamer,
Your current version of The Sims 2 will lose technical support on 22 July 2014. We want you to have the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 in your collection, so you will see a brand new addition to your Origin library: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection!
This is the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 and the version that is still supported by Origin. It also features a lot more content than you may already have in your current version ofThe Sims 2.
The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection will appear in your Origin library automatically. You’ll need to download and install it to your computer to play it.
You’re free to continue playing your existing version of The Sims 2, but please note that it is an older edition of the game that will soon lose technical support. To continue receiving support on your progress of The Sims 2 – including Sims characters, houses, etc. — you will need to transfer your save files of The Sims 2 to the Ultimate Edition. To learn more about backing up your data, please visit: http://help.ea.com/en/article/backing-up-your-sims-2-files/.
Once you’ve migrated your Sims’ lives to The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, you can better organize your Origin game library by hiding your previous version of The Sims 2. Click on the tile for The Sims 2 in your Game Library for the option to hide it. If you need additional directions, we’ve got you covered.
Thanks for your continuing passion for The Sims.

How do you register your Sims 2 games on Origin though? It tells me the code I entered isn’t valid. 🙁

You have to contact support. For older some older games like TS2 the keys won’t activate but live chat support can manually add it to your account if you request it and provide them with your key. Just the key for the base should be sufficient to get them to add the Ultimate Edition to your account. You shouldn’t need to give them the keys for all the expansions unless they ask.
If I were to register a Sims 2 game now, do you think it would be too late to take up this offer? Also, I’m almost positive I’ve registered games on EA back in the day before Origin, with my current Origin email address, but none of them have ever showed up in my Games library. Does anyone have a similar problem?

I had the same issue 🙂 You just need to contact tech support
go to : http://help.ea.com/en/
Click on Help with a Game and select Sims 2.
Selec a topic: Codes
Contact us (At the bottom of the page)
Select a platform: PC …. next
Please tell us a little more about your issue: I want to register my sims 2 games in origin.
You need to wait about 50 minutes to start a live chat! 🙂 Go straight to the point and tell them directly that you have your sims 2 codes with you and if they can register them in your origin account for you.
You’ll get The sims 2 Double Delux to appear in your library.
I tried registering expansion packs as well, but they don’t show up. Still it doesn’t matter, because The Ultimate collection includes all expansion and stuff packs.
is the ultimate collection of Sims 2 just the base game? As I have all of the Sims 2 games will I need to reinstall all the Ep’s and Sp’s after I update to the ultimate version?
If I bought the game today do you think I would get the ultimate collection?
Will there be any free handouts
If you register your base game through origin support, they will add it to your account and Ultimate will be added right after.
