It sure hasn't felt like it, but it has now been one full year since the InZOI Developers began doing weekly Friday developer diaries, also known as "Brainstorming with Kjun"; A weekly diary where Director & Producer of InZOI Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim speaks with players, showcases new and upcoming features, provides insight into what the team is working on behind the scenes, and holds players over until the next InZOI Update.

The next InZOI Update is in October, but the next major content addition, the celebrity system, is slated to arrive in December. Although that may seem like quite a long time away, time sure does fly! While it is still in development, the team also provides some previews of what to look forward to when that update comes. Read on for more info!

Wednesday September 23rd Catch-Up

After last week's developer diary, Kjun returned on Wednesday to discuss Chuseok, a major Korean holiday falling on September 25th, refocusing the discussion on the main game of InZOI, and an update on Prison and Incarceration content updates.

Kjun's Follow Up to "09.18.26 On to Another Update"

Hello, this is Kjun, PD of inZOI.

There was a lot I wanted to share, but the full post exceeded Discord's character limit, so I've summarized it a bit here. Thank you for your understanding.

Chuseok, a major holiday in Korea, begins this week, and our team has been working hard on the October update right up until today. Let's kick off today's BrainStorm!

We've talked a lot about TapTap and multiplayer lately, but today I'll focus on the main game. Our passion for main game updates hasn't changed, and we always welcome your feedback on both the main game and multiplayer.

October Update: Improved Starting Families

We're improving the families living in each city, refining their relationships, backstories, careers, and appearances so that NPCs are fun to discover not just for their looks, but for their stories too.

Prison Content Rescheduled

We know many of you love crime and Active Mode, but prison content will be pushed back, as there are systems we need to overhaul first. Here's why.

New Direction: Expanding Through New Cities

InZOI has three large cities: Dowon, Bliss Bay, and Cahaya. A life sim needs harmony between people and spaces to deliver autonomy and diversity, but as we expanded our promised content, we found it very difficult to fit new concepts into the existing cities. Going forward, new spaces will mainly come in the form of new cities.

This doesn't mean we're stopping updates to existing cities. For example, building a prison for every city would mean fitting it into each city's theme without breaking it. A superstar hub like Hollywood would be nice everywhere too, but given our time and resources, we'd rather focus our efforts than spread them thin across every city.

From "City Immigration" to "City Travel" We plan to remove City Immigration and replace it with City Travel. Zois will be able to freely join parties and schedules with Zois from any city and move between cities more easily.

City Immigration was added with last August's Cahaya DLC to let families move for its travel concept, but its complexity caused many errors. The September patch lifted many of these constraints, and this change will let us bring you more cities, countryside areas, and diverse themed levels.

Once City Immigration is removed, duplicate homes owned through it will be sold when you travel, you'll receive the proceeds, and the homes will be saved as presets. We plan to later add an official feature for owning multiple homes as assets.

For example, an actor Zoi living in Dowon could travel to the city with the film set to go to work.

New City Content & Lot Editing

You may wonder if new city content can only be enjoyed in that city. Each new city is designed to fully capture its content's atmosphere, and through City Travel, we're exploring ways for Zois from any city to enjoy a wide range of content. We're keeping various options open on how best to deliver each type.

We're also looking into ways to place content-specific spaces in the city of your choice, such as editing commercial or dedicated lots. The scope may vary depending on the content, but we'll work to expand customization as much as possible. Please share your thoughts on this too!

Closing I know this may be a bit confusing, but these decisions came after a lot of careful thought about inZOI's future. Please take a look and let us know what you think. We'll review your feedback carefully before making final decisions.

Thank you.

Kjun

09.25.26 One Year of “Brainstorm with Kjun”

Hello, everyone.

It’s a long holiday weekend here in Korea, and next week marks exactly one year since I started “brainstorm_with_kjun.” I can still vividly remember the day I wrote my first post. Even though it was a year ago, it stands out because it was the first time I replied in a channel like this and began having real conversations with all of you.

Someone else was originally going to manage this channel, but due to personal circumstances, I had to step in at short notice. That gave me the chance to hear your thoughts firsthand and begin a meaningful journey of learning more about this field. I guess everything really does happen for a reason.

I remember that first day, too. I was in Incheon for work, sitting in my parked car and replying to your posts one by one as Discord notifications came in. But by the time I got to my seventh reply, I realized I wouldn’t be able to keep going that way. I had started out thinking, “I’ll reply to every post,” but soon understood that it wasn’t realistic. That’s how I settled into the routine I follow today: posting twice a week.

I’ve learned so much from hearing your thoughts, and you’ve given us valuable ideas that have helped shape inZOI. We’ve been working through the things I promised a year ago, one by one. Along the way, we’ve run into technical challenges and sometimes had to adjust our direction, but that’s how we’ve made it this far.

This week’s video includes some of the major updates currently in development. We recently tested them with a small group of players and modders, then made improvements based on their feedback. In particular, we changed the structure to make it possible to create mods using MCP. I was really pleased with this approach, and I’m curious to hear what you think. I’ll show you more about it next time.

Today is Chuseok, one of Korea’s major holidays. Do you remember what I shared about it last year? Chuseok means “autumn evening,” and it is also associated with the night when the autumn moon shines brightest. There are a lot of clouds tonight, so it may be hard to see the moon.

If you’re going through a difficult time right now, I hope you’ll keep this in mind:

Even on days when clouds hide it from view, the moon is always there. It waits for the darkness to pass, ready to light up the world again. Perhaps this dark moment is also a time of preparation—a time before a bright tomorrow grows full, like the harvest moon.

I’ll leave it there for today. I’ll see you again next week.

Thank you, everyone.

On an autumn evening, beneath the bright moon,

kjun
