Our Review of the Sims 4 Home Sweet Home Maker Pack

The Sims 4 Maker Build Packs Review: Home Sweet Home & Rustic Nest

Home Sweet Home is a fun, charming addition to The Marketplace that feels especially well-suited for kids’ and teens’ rooms, pastel or kawaii-themed builds, and cozy interiors full of personality. The design work is creative and instantly recognizable, giving the set a strong visual identity that truly stands out in-game.

That said, the limited swatch count on several items may leave some builders wanting more flexibility. Even so, at 400 Moola, it still feels like a worthwhile purchase, particularly for players who enjoy playful decor. The fluffy pup steps are an unexpectedly delightful touch and add a bit of real-life charm for anyone who uses pet stairs outside of the game.

The home sweet home maker set looks Alpha CC and not even close to maxis match

Mehoo

This was my immediate thought too. It’s cute and all, but even in the preview pictures on the marketplace you can tell it’s just not the same art style and would look really awkward in a build where the rest of the elements are Maxis-match.

Mscrestlativity

The maker kits dont have to be maxis match like the creator kits were.In the blog post said that as much. The only thing is they habe to be in polygon limit.

Mehoo

Sure, but for people who prefer a Maxis-match style or can’t or prefer not to download a bunch of alpha CC, this set is not as useful. One supposed benefit of the marketplace is that it gives console players access to CC, but a set or two of random alpha textured items amidst all the things that come with the base game and official packs would just look kind of odd.

Cassie

It’s for players who prefer Alpha CC. The marketplace is still available for PC players. Not everything is for the Maxis-match players.

Mehoo

I mean, obviously it’s for alpha players, lol. That’s exactly what we’re saying.

I think the point you may be missing is that while of course everyone has access to the marketplace and is free to use it, their target audience seems to be players who can’t or don’t want to download CC, since players who are comfortable with doing that have a vast array of free options readily available.

I guess my assumption is that alpha players by definition have already replaced pretty much everything in their game to get their preferred textures, so I’m not seeing why they would want to buy into virtual currency for microtransactions when they can get pretty much whatever they want for free elsewhere.

I suppose someone might really love this particular set enough to do that, but I just don’t see the number of people wanting to do that being anywhere close to the number of players who have been playing with Maxis-provided content up to this point and might now be considering the marketplace because it’s their only option for CC, or because they like the fact that the use of official tools ostensibly means it will continue to be supported so that they don’t have to mess around with it when the game gets updated. That’s all I’m saying ‍♀️

Atreya

I also think the home sweet home set looks somewhat like alpha content. It doesn’t match the style of the game at all. It’s weird that something like this is on the marketplace.

Waffle

Are you really shilling for marketplace sets? “feels like a good value” brother they are more than the price of a kit when priced out per-item. and the first one doesn’t match the game’s art style at all and just looks awful. what are we doing here?

mitariki

Been asking myself this from the very first one. I guess it is a sims news blog, but reviewing every marketplace set won’t just become convoluted, it feels… icky?
