The $55 billion dollar buyout is now fully greenlit.

Everyone's been waiting for this moment, and last week's Reuters report could've predicted it too. The European Commission has announced just an hour ago that they've fully approved the acquisition of Electronic arts, lead primarily by the Public Investment Fund ("PIF) of Saudi Arabia.

The report from December 2025 claims that the Saudi Arabia's PIF will own 93.4%, Jared Kushner's affinity Group will own 5.5% while Affinity Group 1.1% of the company following the buyout's approval.

WSJ reports that the biggest share of Electronic Arts will be in ownership of Saudi Arabia's PIF at a staggering 93.4%. Silver Lake will own 5.5% while Jared Kushner's Affinity Group will only have 1.1% of the company. Making it just enough for him to be used as a pawn in ensuring the deal goes through within government officials.

Commission clears acquisition of Electronic Arts by PIF

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control of Electronic Arts Inc. of the US by the Public Investment Fund (‘PIF') of Saudi Arabia.

The transaction relates primarily to the production and distribution of video games for mobile devices, PCs and consoles, as well as the organisation and commercialisation of video game competitions, commonly referred to as electronic sports events.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given its limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies are active. The notified transaction was examined under the normal merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.12213.

The EA buyout could still face some pushback from the United States' Federal Trade Commission. However, considering the involvment of Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner in this buyout deal we remain skeptical about any further preventions of this acquisition happening.
