The grand finale and judgement for EA buyout approval is in just a few days, and we already have the verdict from insiders.
Reuters reports that the European Union is set to approve the $55 billion dollar buyout, which was announced first in September 2025. The buyout which is primarily lead by the Saudi Arabia's PIF, Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners and private equity firm Silver Lake.
It was reported in the beginning of July that the major stakeholder of this buyout, Saudi's PIF, was pushing for approval by the end of this month. The European Comission was the last obstacle behind getting the EA buyout deal fully approved.
According to Reuters, their sources acquired information that the approval from the European Union Commission has been approved. The deal is also expected to win unconditional EU clearance under merger rules when a preliminary review ends on July 22.
Read the full report below:
BRUSSELS, July 17 (Reuters) - A group of investors including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is set to secure European Union approval for its $55 billion acquisition of video game developer Electronic Arts, under EU subsidy rules, people familiar with the matter said.
The European Commission, which acts as the EU competition enforcer, is set to clear the deal after the end of its preliminary review under its Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) on July 30, the people said.
The FSR is aimed at preventing unfair non-EU subsidies to companies looking to acquire rivals in the 27-country bloc. The deal is also expected to win unconditional EU clearance under merger rules when a preliminary review ends on July 22.
The full results from the European Comission (and EA themselves) are expected to be revealed and talked about in the press in the next couple of days.

The EU was our last hope to stop the buyout. All I can say is that I’m glad we’ve got Paralives.

And we can’t opt Sims 4 out of the EA app either. I don’t give a crud about “piracy prevention” being their excuse, at this point, it’s just unfair. I don’t want PIF to warp the game into their ideals. (And I fully believe that EA’s promise of inclusivity remaining in the game is a crock of ****. They gave up their control of that to PIF.)

Not surprised. As much as I would have preferred for this buyout not to go through, it was going to. I hope that those who waited so long before speaking up or taking any action have learned something for the future.
The earlier you speak up or take action, the more power you have. Once the ball gets rolling, it’s hard to stop it. Once shareholders approved back in December, that was it. The first couple months after the announcement were crucial, even if the chances weren’t great.
Now comes the real test. Are those content creators that left the program going to go back? Those who were boycotting, are they going to go back to giving EA their money? Curious to see what happens over the next few months.

It was some building poletics on a ground.
And they still don’t know why, I would try to stop them.
But they now own more apartments, on that ground. So it do’es not matter at all.
