Sea Stars, Sea Turtles, Sea Urchins, Oh My!
The major InZOI Vacations Update has dropped! While vacations aren't the only part of this decently large update, they are a real centerpiece of the gameplay expansions surrounding this update.

Released on September 3rd, 2026, the InZOI September Update added loads of new features outside of vacations or traveling and expanded some existing ones, primarily adding a DNA System to Create-A-Zoi, allowing you to make truly genetically related Zois before even entering a save file, as well as adding customizable voices!
InZOI Vacations Update: New Patch Features & Overview

Table of Contents
Create-A-Zoi

This Create-A-Zoi update has been fairly expansive, also including new assets like more homewear/sleepwear, customizable voices, as well as many new hairstyle and clothing assets.
Voices

Zoi voices can now be customized on the left-side of the Create-A-Zoi menu, where your Zoi's identifying information like their name, age, ambitions, etc., are present. With multiple new voice templates, as well as a pitch customizer, you have much more control over Zoi customization.

Teens and older have access to six voice choices, with three being more "masculine" and three being more "feminine". The more "feminine" options include Light, Gentle, and Refreshing, while the more "masculine" options include Crisp & Clear, Balanced, and Deep.

Children have access to Gentle as well as Crisp & Clear. Younger Zois retain the same voice customization, while inheriting the genetics of their parents' voices.
Babies

Babies and Toddlers are now present in Create-A-Zoi, being entirely creatable from scratch or from genetics, like all other Zois now! They still have the multiple new clothing and hair options added in previous patches.
Genetics System

A new DNA and Genetics System has been added, meaning that Zois can now have generated family members that you create that they carry a genetic likeness to. Mix random Zois DNA together to create a whole new Zoi, mix a single parents' DNA with a faceless Zoi to see what kind of children they could have, make entire family trees, the world is your oyster!

The way the Create-A-Zoi DNA System works is that it creates another Zoi, and then once you select who you want to use as the parents (Either one Zoi or two), you can click "Apply Genetic Info" to change their appearance accordingly.

Honestly, I wanted to show the system off in the best way I know how; Generating a ton of random Zois by mixing the genetics of a household of seven adults! Here is just about all of the results of that, showing a wide variety of outcomes depending on the parental appearances.

Once you have your family members, now you have to make them actually related! The family tree and relationships menu is easily used to customize family relationships prior to exiting Create-A-Zoi, previewing a full family tree based on the choices you make and the Zois you create. You can also regenerate household photos once completed!
Build Mode
Basements

Up to three levels of Basements have been added, and total floors for public properties has been increased to 29 levels. Basements are easy to build, primarily just needing you to build a room one to three levels below the ground floor, as well as find a spot to place stairs up to the ground level or next level.

I will say that it does look a little strange, since residential lots now have giant abysses under them to allow for the building of basements, but it does make scaling them easier and it makes the background less distracting when playing in the basement.

Outside of changes to build mode and new additions for gameplay, additional lots have been added throughout each city to explore.
Gameplay
Vacations

You can now use the computer to travel, both temporarily and permanently. You can choose to immigrate to a new city, one of the two others from whichever you chose to initially play in, or start a vacation. You can even do a "Staycation" by finding nearby lodgings without leaving your home city!

When planning a vacation, you can choose who comes along with you. You cannot start a vacation if you have an unpaid loan in your current city, including a mortgage or property loan. You can then pick your lodgings and choose to stay up to one week.

Only one lodging can be picked, so the menu will alert you if the lodgings you picked does not have enough beds for your party size.

When playing a vacation, I made a family who traveled to Cahaya for a beach vacation. They mainly traveled around Cahaya as a large group and had a BBQ Party together.

I also found it incredibly sweet to watch how happy everyone was, particularly the grandparents who autonomously slow-danced at the BBQ Party.

Due to the size of their group, I felt it was better to reduce it to the primary married couple with children so that the accommodations allowed for enough space for them.

While on their impromptu "Honeymoon-esque" trip, my couple spent time swimming, relaxing, spending time together, and riding around on a rentable boat together. You can also book private activities, or visit resort amenity areas to use a Sauna, Pool or Dock, Spa, etc.

Outside of the other aspects of this update and the addition of vacations and traveling, one thing I really enjoyed was the interactions between family members about their trips or vacations, like my couple making jokes together about how the vacation was like a honeymoon.

With this update and with all the activities around the resort, this felt like a very realistic and true-to-life family vacation. My Zois would primarily stay with their loved ones, especially when choosing a spot to sit and eat, and their moods were extremely positive from being on vacation and getting to relax.
Restaurants

Just to put it out there, my experience with the restaurants system is very limited this update, as I have been running into some of the bugs and issues other players have been dealing with that have been acknowledged and are being worked on by the InZOI Development Team.

The standard process is normal; Go to a restaurant (Most active restaurants are marked as "Small Businesses", not "Restaurants" on the city map), request a seat with a host, order from the menu, get and eat your food, leave. Maybe compliment or complain about the food, service, etc.

However, my experience was generally just not properly playable, to be honest. I did try to run a small business restaurant, but it ended up turning into more of just a standard bakery or cafe even when I was using the "Restaurant" preset. Employees did things but customers didn't really ask for a table or take a seat much too often, and they just kind of purchased items and then loitered, like the other small business presets.

When I took a group of Zois out to the pier of Bliss Bay for a dinner at Ora Oro Restaurant in Bliss Bay, I could not have been more disappointed in the experience. They were functionally a group as I had used the group option to have them all meet there. However, after an exceedingly long wait time (Like, a few hours in-game), they got sat... separately! Two were sat at a bar, and two were sat at separate tables on the back patio area.

I decided to focus on one of them just to try and get the experience done and over with. The whole process, start to finish, took quite a while. My Zoi and her group arrived at 3:30PM or so, were seated at maybe 5-ish, was able to order a meal around 6:00PM, and then did not receive it until 8:38PM. For context, the restaurant closes at 9PM.

These features are still being worked on, and I can't say I haven't seen the same issues in other life simulations. Hopefully the developers take the feedback and streamline the process more for the next update.
Fires

Leaving food unattended on a stove, grill, or in the oven can now light fires! To prepare, you can search for fire alarms and fire alarm systems in Build Mode, with multiple indoor and outdoor options available.

It actually takes quite some time to start a fire. I had a Zoi cook some food on the stove and then leave it, and for good measure, she started baking muffins and left those too. While eating a slice of cake by the nearby dining table, the oven finally burst into flames after around 30 minutes to 1 hour of the food burning.

The pan on the stove, initially a shrimp dish, turned into a vague and mishappen "burnt food" pot. The rest of the stove, however, was entirely covered by flames and immediately set off a fire alarm.

The Zoi in question, as well as her roommates outside, reacted fairly quickly! While the fire alarm was going off, they immediately freaked out but then evacuated... into the hallway of their apartment complex, rather than actually outside the building.

The fire was easily put out when firefighters arrived, and clicking on the stove that was now burnt to a crisp allowed me to choose to replace it, or replace all burnt items.

Except... the counters didn't get replaced. I could not choose to replace them in Live Mode like other furniture, and I am not sure why since they do visually get burnt.
Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving, which allows for Free Control, is a fun addition that presents you and your Zoi with fun collectibles, a very pretty underwater area to explore, and a possibly untimely death! Speckled around the sea floor are coral reefs with nearby collectibles, coral and other sea life that can be scooped up and collected, being visible by a soft sparkle that comes off of them.

You can purchase any gear for scuba diving, snorkeling, and surfing at a nearby beach supply store called Ocean Gate connected to the docks. The gear will be in your Zoi's inventory and will automatically apply once you choose an activity while your Zoi is swimming.

While swimming around, you can use WASD Controls and your mouse to guide your Zoi through the water. Most fish are just SFX, so no worries about scaring them off. Explore near coral reefs once you get further away from shore to find collectibles like Sea Urchins, Sea Stars, Coral, etc.

But beware, the waters aren't entirely clear! Along with various schools of fish, Sharks and large Jellyfish do swim these waters... not really doing much outside of causing some anxiety. Both fatal shark attacks and jellyfish stings have been added, but they seem to be fairly rare and the game gives you lots of prior warning.

When entering areas where Sharks inhabit, your Zoi's heartbeat will start playing in your ears as they jump, typically, to a "Terrified" mood. A pop up will warn you of where you are, and another will appear once you're safe. This also happens with Jellyfish, though I was only able to trigger it while entering Jellyfish-infested waters while snorkeling, not while swimming to them when free diving.

Despite run ins with both "man-eating" sharks and Jellyfish the size of my young adult Zoi, I did not have a fatal anything attack occur while swimming in the waters of Cahaya.
Photo Album

Photo Mode photos now appear as physical photos automatically! When using photo mode, you will now get a notification that your Zoi's bag should have a copy of said photo. It might've been just me, but the formatting came out a little off and the quality was quite crunchy, but it is a nice feature although I feel it needs some tuning.
User Interface
Browse Mods

The section to browse, install, and manage mods has been upgraded! Now providing more information, instructions, and three easy ways to download new content from other InZOI players; Curseforge, Connect, and it also provides instructions for exterior mod installation.

Connect allows players to browse, save, and share outfits and clothing items created in InZOI.

Curseforge is a mod platform used by many games, but it has an easy-to-use built-in UI in InZOI, giving everything a smooth and easy-to-navigate look that is very user-friendly.
