The Sims Team has addressed some hot topics and features for Project Rene. Also known as The Sims 5!

EA and Maxis have officially announced yesterday that they’re deep in development of the next generation Sims Game. Also known as The Sims 5!

Behind The Sims Summit covered some important topics about Project Rene. Lyndsay Pearson, VP of Franchise Creative at The Sims has revealed the first look of the game. She also shared some of the core features that The Sims 5…*ahem*…Project Rene will have.

What is the new game that the team is working on?

The team has begun to work on the next generation of The Sims, currently known as Project Rene. Fans can expect big innovations in how they can customize and create their worlds. How Sims will behave and think. And how players can share the favorite ways they play with their friends across their favorite devices.

Why the name Project Rene?

We chose Project Rene because it is reminiscent of words like renaissance, and rebirth. And represents our renewed commitment to The Sims. That’s what we’re doing, ushering in a new future for The Sims with a new game experience and more.

What will Project Rene include at launch that will meet player expectations?

We can’t talk too much just yet about what you can expect during launch, but are keeping player feedback top of mind throughout the early stages of Project Rene’s development. We’re striving to go above and beyond in terms of transparency and creating opportunities for players to share their thoughts about what we’re creating over the next few years.

Will Project Rene be a single player experience, or will there be a multiplayer option?

Players will have the choice to play a single player experience or collaborate with others through online multiplayer across supported devices.

When will Project Rene be released?

The game is currently in its very early stages of development. We’ll have more to share over the coming years.

Does this mean that there will be no more content for The Sims 4?

The Sims 4 is not going away anytime soon. The team has been dedicated to expanding on the game for the past 8 years, and are as committed as ever to developing new and meaningful experiences for players and will continue to develop and release The Sims 4 packs, Kits and Sims Delivery Express drops in the foreseeable future.

A New Era for Sims 4 Mods is starting!

Today’s Behind The Sims Summit livestream event was not short of surprises! One in particular is the reveal and announcement of The Sims 4 teaming up with OverWolf to introduce us to a new way to experience Sims 4 Mods.

Lyndsay Pearson, who is the Vice President of Franchise Creative for The Sims or better known as SimGuruLyndsay revealed the news during the Behind The Sims Summit Livestream. The announcement to be exact was that The Sims 4 is partnering with OverWolf! Additionally how players will be able to use CurseForge platform to host high quality, trusted and curated Sims 4 mods and custom content from the community!

Who is OverWolf & CurseForge?

OverWolf is for gamers by fellow gamers. As people who have used mods and in-game apps first hand, they know the true value they have to gamers, creators and the community. By taking their knowledge and experience, they help games, just like The Sims 4 open up more possibilities for players to make a more unique experience. Of course, they also know what it is like to be a Custom Content Creator and Modder and offer support to creators where needed, as well as recognizing and celebrating their talents.

CurseForge on the other hand is the platform that as players, we will be using to access mods and custom content. They are the largest platform to find additional content for a variety of games other than just The Sims 4. This includes Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program and Stardew Valley to name a few!

What does this mean for players?

This is the first time that a game from within The Sims franchise has a dedicated, safe and trusted platform to download player created mods and custom content. As well as celebrating the many talented creators within our community, the partnership is described as being a supplementary experiences to players current modding experience in The Sims 4.

Players will be able to find all of their mods, add and remove them and keep them updated automatically by using the CurseForge client.

What does this mean for creators?

For creators, it will become an additional platform for them to not only share their content, but also earn real income too.

Which Creators will I find on the new Platform?

As the partnership is just beginning, a pilot group of creators has been invited to be a part of the Mod Squad, with the aim of expanding over time. A number of well known Sims 4 Mods and Custom Content creators have taken to social media to share the news!

Here are some of the many creators you’ll find on the CurseForge platform!

When does the CurseForge platform launch?

While no official launch date was revealed during the Behind The Sims Summit Livestream, a handful of the creators have mentioned that the new platform will be launching in mid-November. This is also confirmed on the official partnership page on the CurseForge website via an on-screen countdown.

Will Sims 4 Mods Ever be on Console?

A hot topic within the community for many years has always been if mods and custom content will ever be available to console players. Currently, there has been no confirmation that this new partnership will be expanding to console players.

Behind The Sims Summit: The Sims 4

Starting today, The Sims 4 base game is FREE to play for everyone on all platforms!
The Sims 4 has years of content scheduled. There will be monthly SDX drops, more free base game updates, and more packs and kits coming to the game. The Sims 4 is not going anywhere anytime soon.
New worlds and builds are coming to the game! We were shown early concept art for a new world and some new build/buy objects during the Behind The Sims Summit, which you can see below:

There will be a new platform for trusted mods and custom content coming soon! Creators involved in the new platform are part of a group called the Mod Squad. More information about this new platform will come out over the holiday season.
Babies are finally getting an overhaul! They will be freed from their bassinet prisons! We were shown a clip of an infant crawling across the floor and their caretaker bending down to pick them up!
Free celebration rewards have recently been added to all current Sims titles. These rewards came with the recent base game update and included the new plumbob ceiling fan.

The Sims Mobile

Sims Mobile - "Balconies" Update Feature — Sims Mobile – “Balconies” Update Feature

Highly requested balconies are coming to The Sims Mobile as a new Build/Buy feature! This update will come over the holiday season.

The Sims Freeplay

The Behind The Sims Summit revealed that The Sims Freeplay is getting a much-needed graphics improvement! Sims faces are less uncanny valley and more human. Thank goodness! This graphics overhaul is available for all players to download right now!

All hairstyles are now available across all genders.
More skin tones are coming to the game.
A new luxury yacht location is coming to the game.
A new seasonal quest is coming in December.

Behind The Sims Summit: Project Rene

The long-rumoured “next generation Sims game” is unveiled. It’s called Project Rene and is planned to be under development for the next several years.
Not a whole lot of info was given about Project Rene but we did see very early previews. Including a colour wheel feature, customizable bed sizes, moving groups of objects simultaneously, and couch cushions that can be placed freely where the payer desires.

SimGuruLindsay also hinted that Project Rene may allow players to play The Sims across multiple devices and play with their friends. The Behind The Sims Summit did not give other details about what these features may entail.

The Sims 4: Better Babies Update coming Early 2023

The Sims Team revealed that The Sims 4 is getting a major update early next year. And it’s all about Babies!

The Sims Summit was a lot to take in…right?

While we go through the announcements, it’s important that we talk about the last segment of the show. As the host walked off the stage, a new short segment appeared on the screen featuring in-game footage from The Sims 4.

And it features a baby crawling outside of the bassinet. MINDBLOWING.

Check out the first look into “Project Rene” – also known as the next generation Sims Game – THE SIMS 5!

Lyndsay Pearson, VP of Franchise Creative for The Sims has shared never-before-seen fotage and information about the next generation Sims Game.

As you all know – next generation Sims Game means the next installment. Which many in the community call “The Sims 5”.

Pearson revealed the name of the game under the Project Development Title, called Project Rene. Without further ado, here’s everything we know about the game so far:

I am so excited to share today a first look at the future of The Sims innovation. For me, this is an honor to reveal as I’ve started working on The Sims as a game tester 20 years ago. And now I have a privilege to usher The Sims Franchise to the next decade and beyond!

We’re building the next generation Sims Game and Creative Platform. Reimagining The Sims you know and love, with new ways to play. This is the future of The Sims, built on a foundation of charming Sims, powerful tools and meaningful stories.

this future requires us to stay true to what The Sims has always been while pushing to evolve how Sims think and behave. To push tools even further when creating and customizing, and to explore innovative ways to not only tell stories, but to collaborate on those stories or creations with your closest friends across your favorite devices.

The Sims has always evolved to reflect you, our players and your experiences. We have a growing team focused on this game, working alongside The Sims 4 and Mobile Teams. And now, we want to share this with you earlier than ever before because we want you to be a part of our development journey.

Exploring different ways to play The Sims requires us to commit to different ways of building. Today marks the start of our journey over the next few years. Our working title for this new generation is “Project Rene”.

We chose Project Rene because it’s reminiscent of words like “renewal”, “reneissance”, “rebirth” – and it represents our renewed commitment to The Sims. And that’s what we’re doing! We’re ushering in a new future for The Sims with a new game experience and more.

Now, I want to give you all a very early behind the scenes look at what we’re testing and exploring. Again, this is very early and just a few aspects of what Project Rene will grow to be.

We start with our creative tools – a key part of our Sims DNA. We’re experimenting with what’s worked and where we can push further to offer more flexibility than ever before. We begin with the ability to change not only patterns and colors, but also the shapes of the objects that you’ll be using when you build and decorate in game.

For years we’ve seen the power of the community coming together and sharing the cool things you can do with your friends. Whether you’ve used The Gallery or shared your creations elsewhere, being able to celebrate each other’s work has been a long standing tradition.

With Project Rene, we want to make it easier to work together and share. You can choose to play it and create by yourself, or with your close friends. It’s entirely your choice! No matter who you want to play with, we want you to be able to play wherever you want.

This is demonstrating early technology test on how you can play this game across supported devices of your choosing. Same experience – different screens!

This is just a small taste of what Project Rene and the team is working on alongside The Sims 4 and Mobile Teams. Over the next couple of years we’ll continue sharing updates with all of you on Project Rene.

We’ll share In-Progress Work, Explorations, Sneak Peeks and Behind The Scenes Content. As well as start to open up Early Access to Project Rene software to small groups over time.

I’ll say this one more time before I go. This is super early for us and we’ve never shared information about our games years before they launch to the world. We’re so excited to take you on this journey with us!

EA has made updates to Sims 4 Base Game System Requirements ahead of the game going free.

The Sims 4 Base Game has a new set of system requirements.

The latest change has been spotted by @lowpolypancake on Twitter, who spotted a bump in System Requirements. The latest EA Help Article now has a new set of System Requirements, with updates primarily to CPU and System Storage. These changes have been announced quietly on EA Help a few days before The Sims 4 has been set to go free.

Sims 4 System Requirements – PC / Windows

These are the requirements for The Sims 4 base game, no Packs included. If you want to download Packs, make sure to check that your computer meets the additional requirements.

The Sims 4 celebrated its eighth anniversary in September and it’s incredible to think about. We can hardly believe The Sims 4 is nearing a decade old. No one can deny that the long-running success of The Sims 4 is thanks to all the DLC packs the game received over the years. DLC has kept The Sims 4 relevant almost a decade later but that doesn’t mean every one has been among the best Sims 4 packs. Some DLC packs are widely praised by the majority of players, but others received harsh critiques.
