With no confirmation if InZOI will ever get released on Xbox game consoles.

This time focusing on players who feel disconnected with the game.
A new Sims 4 Player Survey has surfaced around August 11th, 2025. Titled “The Sims 4 – New Content”, the player-focused survey focuses on the player’s hypothesized disinterest in the game. As well as asking about the player’s identity information such as race, gender and sexual orientation.
Here’s a breakdown of this short fueled official EA survey:
New Sims 4 Player Survey Breakdown
Unlike previous official EA surveys that take several minutes to complete, this survey consists of only two questions.
The first question asks the player about the possible reasons why they might’ve stopped playing, or have taken a break from The Sims 4. There’s more than two dozens of reasons listed, ranging anywhere from personal ones like hardware setup, personal time or wanting to play other games to game-related reasons. Like the number of DLCs, the game feeling “repetitive”, outdated or glitched out.
The second part of the new Sims 4 Player survey focuses solely on collecting player’s personal information. Like the player’s race/ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation.
The latest official survey is live right now. You can take it by pressing the survey button below!
Electronic Arts has pushed out multiple official Sims 4 Surveys over the last couple of weeks. We had an official Animations survey two weeks ago asking about which core animations we want to see improved. Then, a Sims 4 Updates Survey surfaced last week asking about what type of Free Content we want to see more of in The Sims 4 Base Game.
The latest 3rd Sims 4 Player Survey could be used to gain extra statistics and information about prioritizing future Sims 4 Game updates. Considering it focuses solely on the player’s reason for distancing from the game and their private information.

There’s been a new Sims 4 Kits leak: a recent post on X from well-known Sims figure Anadius revealed that two new pieces of DLC are coming our way, as well well known information about the next game patch.
New Sims 4 Kits Leak
Since it has been a while since we have had a new Stuff Pack, and the Sims team haven’t announced these releases themselves yet, these packs are most likely going to be new Kits.
SP71 and SP72 (kits?) are going to be released on August 21st. New patch on 19th. They skipped numbers but we may get SP68-70 later.
Recent post by Anadius discussing the release of two new packs
The post also notes one unusual detail: several Stuff Pack numbers have been skipped, suggesting that packs SP68-70 are still in development or planned for a future release.
If we were to look at the previous pattern of Roadmap announcements, Creator Kit releases haven’t been announced on a game release Roadmap in advance. So there is a slight chance that the new Sims 4 Kits are Creator Kits.
We would expect that the upcoming patch is going to prepare the game for these releases and potentially address some of the existing issues in the game. Plus, it’s been revealed in the official Summer 2025 Roadmap that new skin customization options will be available in another base game update on August 19!
The Sims Community will be following this closely for any more official information, including any rumor confirmations so stay tuned. You can also read our coverage of the most recent Sims 4 Kits here.

The Sims Team Has Released A New Player Focused Survey
Over on The Sims’ official Discord, a new player-focused survey has been published, allowing the team to gain insight as to what the community wants most from both Base Game updates and SDX (Sims Delivery Express) drops. This survey covered everything from Create-A-Sim, to Build-Buy, to in-game holidays and cultural celebrations. Take a look at The Sims 4 Updates Survey below, and make sure to have your say too.
Table of Contents
Tools & Items
The first section of the survey covers in-game tools & items, and how satisfied you are with them to make your Sims resemble people from your cultural background, community, and culture.
Gameplay
The following section gauges player satisfaction with current cultural gameplay and how interested the community is in a number of cultural features. Members can vote on several features using ‘tokens’ that can be spent among a variety of options.
Create-A-Sim
Similar to the previous sections, the Create-A-Sim section focuses on player satisfaction with current cultural and community representations, and how the team may improve the offering in future updates.
Build/Buy
The Build/Buy section gives members the option to rank the importance of various features, and also an option to write in suggestions.
Free Updates
The next section is used to gauge how players learn about the addition of new features to the Base Game, and how quick they are to play with new features.
SDX Updates
SDX Updates, short for Sims Delivery Express, add content directly to the game without requiring an update. This section is used to understand player engagement with the format.
Diversity & Inclusion Monitoring
As with many surveys, there is a diversity and inclusion monitoring section, used to understand player demographics. This data is used to tailor updates and features to the existing player base and understand how to market the game to its audience best. You can opt out of answering these questions if you wish.

You get an extra month to complete four weeks of quests!
In a surprising turn of events, The Sims 4 Nature’s Calling Event has been extended by The Sims Team. For almost an entire month!
The latest Sims 4 Live Event, which was supposed to end today (August 5th) has a new end date. And it’s for The Sims 4’s 11th anniversary on September 2nd!
There’s no current information on why the latest Sims 4 Nature’s Calling Event has been extended. However, players believe that there could be a correlation with The Sims 4 Glitch on Console where players couldn’t claim the rewards, or link their EA accounts.
When I go to claim the rewards it says that I must be connected to the internet. I am connected to the internet and I’ve checked the settings and everything else. I should be able to claim them but no matter what I do I get the same pop up. Ive tried claiming them from the menu and live mode. Nothing seems to be working. Im on console (ps4) and have the latest update.
This specific issue has been marked as “Under Investigation” by The Sims Team, with more updates on this glitch hopefully coming soon.
The official Sims 4 Live Events Survey
Did you enjoy the latest Sims 4 Nature’s Calling Live Event? The Sims Team wants to know your input in which aspects of the latest Live Event you enjoyed the most, and which aspects you didn’t.
Some questions ask if there are any new features that could be implemented into Live Events to make them better. Such as better rewards, social components, more frequent reminders and more.

They’ve said it once, and they’ve said it again. The Sims 5 is not happening, folks. For anyone thinking they were being coy or secretive about it, this should be the final nail in the coffin. Not only have they stated it’s not coming, but this time they’ve gone a step further and explained why.
Table of Contents
Why It’s Not Happening
In a recent interview Variety sat down with EA Entertainment’s president Laura Miele and she had this to say about The Sims 5.
“What I wouldn’t want to have happen is you to have to start from day zero and start from scratch and give up all of the things that you have created, give up all of the content that you’ve purchased over the years. We put out over 85 content packs over the last 10 years on ‘The Sims 4,’ and so resetting that is not player friendly and not a good idea for our community.”
Laura Miele
Specifically, there has been 93 content packs released for Sims 4 at the time of this article–19 expansion packs, 12 game packs, 20 stuff packs, and 42 kits. At the time of this writing, while most packs are currently on sale, the Steam DLC collection for Sims 4 looks like this.
Note: The Steam page is not entirely accurate because it says there are 99 DLC, but they mistakenly list multiple of time twice, such as the Horse Ranch expansion pack. So, this number is not entirely true.
While many players expected Sims 4 to follow the path of previous Sims titles, with DLC releases for several years and then a sequel title being announced, EA decided to make Sims 4 a live service game instead. Looking at video games as a whole, this is becoming the new industry standard.
With the rising cost of video game production, and the inherent time it takes to make them from scratch versus creating content for an already released game, it makes sense. Opinions, as opinions always manage to be, are divided on whether or not this is a positive for player experience.
Reasons Players Want The Sims 5
Seemingly from the first moment Sims 4 released players were asking for a Sims 5. The sentiment was that the foundation for Sims 4 was too fragile and underdeveloped to support the game they had hoped for. Flash forward to nearly 11 years later, endless updates and content releases, and that sentiment somehow still manages to exist within the player base.
The thought seems to be that a Sims 5 release will somehow fix all of the issues that players have with Sims 4. The problem is that it wouldn’t. There’s a “grass is always greener” mentality about the game that players don’t have but imagine they could. If a Sims 5 ever released, it would never meet the expectations that players have.
I guarantee what it would do is make players look more fondly at Sims 4. It happens every single time a new Sims series releases. During Sims 3’s run players complained about how poorly optimized and programmed it was, how many game breaking issues it had, how often it crashed, how their computers couldn’t run it, how overpriced the Sims 3 Store was, how ugly the style was especially the Sims themselves, and how the launcher literally told you not to install too many packs you paid for because the game couldn’t handle all of them at one time.
Once Sims 4 released, everyone has been looking back at their memories of Sims 3 as if it was the most stable, most gorgeous, most perfect game ever created. The same would absolutely happen with Sims 4 once a Sims 5 would release. Plus, it’s important to consider that The Sims 5 could have released even worse than Sims 4.
Other players are just burnt out on Sims 4. After over a decade with one game, and almost 100 content releases, it begins to feel repetitive no matter what is added. A lot of the systems start to blur together or feel rehashed. Players would rather start anew with something that hopefully feels fresh and exciting.
Another thing players want in The Sims 5 is a different art style and aesthetic than that of Sims 4. From its inception many players did not emotionally connect with the style chosen and would prefer something more realistic like that of Sims 3. This is another opinion that is greatly divided between players.
Reasons to Stick with The Sims 4
As Miele said, it would be hard for a lot of players to move on. It’s a lot to ask of players to drop a game they’ve spent well over a grand on and start over from square one. For lifetime players that have been playing from the beginning, it would be a pretty tough sell to tell them it’s time to do it all over again for the fifth time.
There’s only so many times you can expect players to buy a Seasons or Pets expansion pack for a fourth or fifth time, for instance. EA knows this, which is why they’re opting to continue the development of Sims 4 instead of moving onto The Sims 5.
For those that have stuck with Sims 4 from the start, it’s absurd looking back at the game we started with to the game we have now. It’s entirely different, at this point. So much has been added and changed and updated and continues to do so.
They’ve said previously that they’re at a point in the life of The Sims 4 where they’re focusing more heavily on updating the foundation of the game while also still releasing new content. Refreshing parts of the game could be all that is needed to keep Sims 4 feeling fresh and exciting instead of having to move on to a new game.
With Project Rene being developed as a completely different style of Sims game instead of being Sims 5, it means players can stick with the Sims 4 collection they’ve built up over the years while still having a new Sims experience. Previously when a new Sims game released, even if a player liked the previous version better, development ceased for the past title. This is not the case with Project Rene and The Sims 4. Players who want a new experience can focus on Project Rene, players who love Sims 4 will still have new content released for them, and everyone wins.
In the words of Hannah Montana, it really is the best of both worlds.
Reader Opinions
So, what are your thoughts? Are you fully connected to Sims 4? Or are you ready to move on?
Did you want a Sims 5, or are you happy with Project Rene being a different style of Sims game?

Contagious spreading of Ailments is getting a toggle switch in a future Sims 4 Update.
The Sims Team has made an announcement late last night about a new The Sims 4 update currently in preparations. According to Maxis, the patch will incorporate a new toggle switch in the Pack Settings, letting you reduce the contagious spreading of Ailments from The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature.
Here’s what they’ve shared in the latest message:
We’ve heard your feedback on Ailment tuning in Enchanted by Nature and we’re developing a toggle to enable or disable Ailments spreading contagiously, coming in a future patch. Once disabled, Sims who already have Ailments will need to wait it out or seek a cure, but no more Sims will contract Ailments through spontaneous spread. By disabling both Enable Balance & Imbalance and Enable Ailment Spread, this will disable all natural sources of Ailments.
We’ll have more info to share with you once we’ve confirmed a release date.
FYI: There’s another Sims 4 Update expected to arrive on August 19th. The Sims Team describes that it will bring “new skin customization options”. We have to wait and see if this Ailments toggle switch will be added before the Aug 19th update. Until then, stay tuned for all the latest Sims 4 news on Sims Community!
Electronic Arts is “feverishly developing” The Sims Project Rene.
While we wait for more full stacked news developments on The Sims Project Rene and The Sims Movie, we get a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes with the game’s development. As well as future plans for The Sims Movie and the game’s franchise.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, EA Entertainment’s president Laura Miele shared more about their vision for The Sims Franchise. Where they currently stand with the development of The Sims Project Rene, as well as what activations should player expect with The Sims Movie.
Read the full paragraph from Variety shared about The Sims below:
Laura Miele on The Sims Project Rene
While EA has remained largely mum and very teasing on its upcoming multiplayer offering for “The Sims” franchise, Miele confirms it now “represents one of the biggest growth opportunities for Electronic Arts” moving forward and the team is “hard at work and feverishly developing what this [multiplayer] platform is going to be.”
“What we’re doing is upgrading and refreshing all this technology, and we’ll be adding modes of play — but we also are going to be creating and updating the base technology and the base user experience on the core game,” Miele said. “So you’re going to have this life simulation, you’re going to have multiplayer capabilities, we are going to have mobile expressions of this. We’re doing cozy games as well and more to come on that. We did a release with Nintendo on cozy games in Asia for ‘The Sims.’ I see ‘The Sims’ as a significant ecosystem, and a universe of multiple ‘Sims’ experiences that we have to build on.”
While some fans have expressed disappointment the game isn’t going to the traditional sequel game route with a “The Sims 5,” Miele maintains this is for the best for the larger community of Simmers.
“What I wouldn’t want to have happen is you to have to start from day zero and start from scratch and give up all of the things that you have created, give up all of the content that you’ve purchased over the years,” Miele said. “We put out over 85 content packs over the last 10 years on ‘The Sims 4,’ and so resetting that is not player friendly and not a good idea for our community.”
EA’s biggest transmedia project at the moment is the upcoming “The Sims” movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Margot Robbie’s LuckChap Entertainment, which was finally the “right creative partnership” for a film that Miele says the team has been talking about for “years and years and years.” (“The Sims” video game franchise celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.)
Miele says EA is currently considering significant opportunities for tie-ins with “The Sims” games upon the release of “The Sims” movie.
“Where we sit today, from a technology perspective, innovation perspective, we are in a moment where we can actually co-create content and be a multiplier for each other and have these great experiences for fans,” Miele said. “It’s going to be so full circle and so fulfilling to bring content in a linear way and an interactive way, simultaneously, and even have it adapt to fans and how things are going. When we have a couple of ideas about how we would go to market with a movie and a couple of different expressions, I just think the opportunity is so ripe.”
What are your thoughts on the news bit about The Sims Project Rene? We’re still itching for more gameplay previews and development sneak peeks to back up any suspicion.

For those who dove into the InZOI Early Access build released in Spring 2025, you may have noted the third city teased in the game, “Kucingku“. This world was shown in the game along with Dowon and Bliss Bay, but was unavailable for players and was planned to be made available in a later update. Originally intended to be a small island town inspired by tourist spots in Indonesia and far from the bustling cities of Dowon and Bliss Bay, a recent announcement has renamed the city to “Cahaya” in preparation for an August 2025 update, appropriately deemed the “InZOI Cahaya Update”. In an upcoming “Island Getaway” DLC, players will be able to explore an island with expansive new activities, views, and culture.
With the month of August sneaking up on us, we can now expect a brand new livestream, showcasing expected features that will come in the update and the DLC planned for this month!
Table of Contents
The InZOI Cahaya Update and What We Know
Per the livestream prior to the Early Access launch, showcasing the 2025 roadmap for added content, August 2025 is expected to include the release of the world of Kahaya, formerly Kucingku, in the Island Getaway DLC. This will also include ghosts, swimming, freelance careers, parenting updates, and much more not yet announced.
We also learned more on June 20th from a letter written by Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, the producer and director of InZOI who often writes letters to keep players in the loop.
Kjun’s Letter: A Sneak Peek at Cahaya
Hello, Creators.
Kjun here.
We hope you’re enjoying inZOI following the June update. We’re aware that there’s still plenty of room for improvement, which is why we’re working hard to deliver a better experience for our players.
Our team is hard at work preparing the next wave of content for the August update. We’re especially excited for this update because it will be introducing a third city to the game.
On that note, we’d like to announce some changes. The third city, formerly announced as Kucingku, has now been changed to Cahaya, a resort-themed destination where players can enjoy some rest and relaxation away from the bustle of city life. The word “Cahaya” means “light”, and true to its name, the city offers a variety of vibrant and refreshing experiences across exotic islands that can’t be found in previous cities, such as farming, relaxing, boating, and exploring uninhabited islands. We’re working hard to make this update truly worth the wait.
Cahaya is a city themed around “rest”. While developing inZOI has been a source of great joy for me, there are times when I feel the urge to get away from it all. Inspired by these feelings, I wanted to create a retreat for players exhausted by the motions of everyday life to unwind in.
There is one thing that we were unable to address in this update. We’ve received a great deal of feedback from players asking for improvements to the job system, but because Cahaya was designed as a resort-themed city, features like jobs and schools didn’t quite feel like the right fit. As such, we’ve made the decision to exclude them from this city entirely. Players instead can enjoy a self-sufficient lifestyle through activities such as farming or fishing. Improvements to the job system will be coming with the next city update.
In response to player feedback, we are also making improvements to make emotional expressions seem more natural, improve the relationship system, and add depth to interactions.
We recently shared these details during a video call with our Partner Creators, who gave us a lot of valuable feedback. If you have any thoughts of your own, please don’t hesitate to share them with us. I truly enjoy hearing from the community, and I’m always paying close attention to what our players have to say. Your feedback helps shape the future of inZOI.
In addition, inZOI will be heading to Germany once again to participate in this year’s gamescom, where the August update and Cahaya Free DLC will be officially revealed. Until then, we hope you continue to enjoy a wonderful time with inZOI.
We hope this coming summer brings you nothing but joy and lasting memories. As always, thank you again for your continued support.
Thank you.
– Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim, Producer & Director of InZOI
On July 28th, Krafton released a concept trailer for the InZOI Cahaya Update and for the Island Getaway DLC planned to come with that August 2025 update. The Zois featured in the trailer were seemingly worn out from their daily lives, whether they were a convenience store worker, a full-time student, salary person, or stay-at-home parent. Life had become bland and repetitive.
Showcased as a break from the daily life in Dowon and Bliss Bay, Cahaya plans to be a faraway destination for your Zois to relax, unwind, and just experience something new and refreshing.

What Can We Expect?
While the concept trailer obviously did not include everything we can expect to see with the InZOI Cahaya Update, we got a few great glimpses in what it will likely behold. From cultural hot spots inspired by real world civilizations…
To a sailboat treading the deep blue sea, your Zois will have loads of new exploration opportunities whether they just take a short trip, stay for a long-term sabbatical, or possibly even live within the world, you can expect tons of new content to spice up gameplay that may have become somewhat monotonous.
The InZOI Cahaya Update, since the game itself is still in Early Access, is planned to be a free DLC added in the August 2025 update for all players who currently have the early access build of the game.
InZOI’s Early Access Build is currently $39.99 USD on Steam. InZOI is also coming to MacOS through a new port version on Steam, as well as the official App Store for Mac.

Official Sims 4 Patch Notes
Update 7/29/2025 PC: 1.116.240.1020 / Mac: 1.116.240.1220 Console: Version 2.17
Sul Sul, Simmers,
We’re here with an update to address a few of the top concerns you’ve been sharing with us, including bug fixes, Gallery access for consoles, and improvements to the Ailment system in Enchanted by Nature. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us, and we’ll continue to review if more tuning is required in the near future.
Enchanted by Nature – Ailments
Today’s tuning update reduces the frequency of Ailments by up to 75%. To provide more context, there are two primary sources for what causes Ailments—Contagions and Imbalance—and we’ve made improvements to both based on your feedback.
With Contagions, we’ve significantly reduced how contagious Ailments are, resulting in Sims contracting an Ailment every 3 days on average instead of the previous 1 day. If your Sim is living in a big household and/or seeing clients as a Naturopath, Ailments will happen about 40-50% less than before.
With the Balance system, when a Sim becomes Very Imbalanced, Ailments will appear. We have adjusted the extremes of Balance which affect how frequently Ailments could appear. Previously, witnessing a death and having extreme emotions such as Mortified and Hysterical instantly took away all Balance, causing the Sim to instantly feel Very Imbalanced. Now, extreme emotions still drain Balance faster than regular emotions, but leave time for Sims to react and get proper care.
We’re exploring what additional Ailment control could look like, and look forward to hearing your feedback after this update.
Enchanted by Nature – Fairy Wings
We wanted to share more information about Fairy wings, and when they’re supposed to appear. There are over 360 positions and unique interactions surrounding Fairy wings that our team reviewed and tailored animations for. By design, there are certain activities where Fairy wings will intentionally be tucked away, such as lying down, sitting, or riding a horse. This is to avoid clipping or animation disruptions to complex objects, which could introduce additional technical difficulties to players. If you’re experiencing Fairy wings not showing up after completing several interactions where they should be visible, we would love information via the Forums to aid investigation.
Console Connectivity
We’ve been investigating reports that some Simmers on consoles have been unable to access the Gallery and claim Event Rewards, and being told an “Online Connection is Required” or seeing only Library on the Main Menu. This is due to a User Agreement pop-up not appearing where it should. We’re working on resolving this and in the meantime, you can restore full access to the Gallery by going to “Game Options” > “Other” select the “Link EA Account” button and an updated User Agreement will display. Accepting the updated agreements will prompt you to restart the game. Selecting “Confirm” will restart the game and restore your connection to the Gallery. As always, make sure you have saved any progress before restarting.
Thanks again for all the passion and love for Fairies!
-The Sims 4 Team
Bug Fixes
Enchanted by Nature
[EA Forums] Ailments now are less contagious between household Sims and much less contagious from public toilets. This results in Ailments triggering up to 75% less often depending on your household size and other factors.
[EA Forums] Balance is now more… balanced. Witnessing death and having extreme emotions such as Mortified and Hysterical no longer cause a Sim to become Very Imbalanced.
[EA Forums] For players with Seasons, the Naturopath career now respects holidays so its Sims have the day off.
“Sponge Bath in Bathroom” (at The Mossveil Fairy Hub) and “Bathe in Water” (in ponds for Sims with Natural Living Skill) now clean Sims who have been singed by fire.
Werewolves

Looking for a fun challenge to explore some iconic achievements in The Sims 4? Lilsimsie’s Bingo challenge is a difficult but exciting way to reimagine gameplay in The Sims 4.
During the month of May 2025, Sims 4 creators have been competing in the new The Sims Bingo Challenge hosted by Lilsimsie on Twitch Rivals. In the original Twitch Rivals competition, there were 40 different Sims 4 players competing for a cash prize. Lilsimsie was in a team with Risshella and they were fundraising for St. Jude. While Lilsimsie was streaming, EA actually donated $10,000 on behalf of The Sims team!

Lilsimsie’s The Sims Bingo Challenge on Twitch Rivals
During the Twitch Rivals challenge, the players were divided into 20 teams with 2 players each. Their goal was to work together by completing different tasks on the bingo board to earn points. Teams were ranked by amount of points and the fastest time to complete the bingo board.
The original bingo board on Twitch Rivals included 25 different challenges reflecting a variety of activities in The Sims 4. The original challenge was designed for only The Sims 4 Base Game, Cats & Dogs, and Cottage Living.
After the Twitch Rivals Challenge, James Turner adapted the bingo concept with different themed boards. His Sims 4 Bingo Challenge website is a great resource for players who want to attempt the challenge themselves.

Why You Should Play The Sims Bingo
In my opinion, The Sims Bingo challenge adds a new layer to the gameplay and changes the way The Sims has been played. You can, of course, use aspirations as ‘goals’ to complete while playing The Sims, but The Sims Bingo adds new challenges that you might not necessarily complete during regular gameplay. The Sims Bingo challenges are quirky and represent the humor EA brings to The Sims, such as the Grilled Cheese Aspiration, Cowplants, and sitting on an oversized mushroom! The challenges may introduce you to new aspects of the game you weren’t aware existed before, like cheering up Tragic Clown or resurrecting a pet! I can’t say I ever attempted those challenges myself prior to The Sims Bingo.
The Sims Bingo is a fun way to challenge yourself to complete activities under a time limit if you’re feeling stuck with the same gameplay, introduce you to new adventures you’ve never tried before, or test your knowledge on The Sims! Do you actually know how to catch a batfish? Do you really know how to become a PlantSim?
If you answered no to either of those questions, keep reading to learn some tips!
Tips for getting Bingo
*Disclaimer: If you would rather fumble through these challenges and figure them out on your own, skip this section because there will be spoilers!
Traits and Lot Traits can give your Sim an advantage when completing Bingo challenges. Here are some I would recommend:
Home Studio Lot Trait: This trait increases the gain rate of both the Painting Skill and Writing Skill, it will also increase the quality of paintings created. This will help you create a Masterpiece and help your Sim reach level 3 of the Writing Skill and write a Playful Book.
Homey Lot Trait: This will help increase the gain rate of Cooking, Handiness, and Gardening Skills. This will help with all the gardening challenges, unlocking the Forgotten Grotto to catch a Batfish, and making Ambrosia to bring a Sim back to life.
Penny Pixies Lot Trait: This trait will randomly give your Sim small amounts of Simoleons, which will eventually help you reach §50,000.
Dog Lover Trait: Your Sim will gain relationship with dogs faster, which will help you when training dogs or adopting one as a stray.
Creative Trait: Your Sim will feel Creative more often which will help you paint a masterpiece.
You will need to be in a good mood to Try Cheer Up Tragic Clown. Having the Cheerful Trait will help your Sim feel happy, but you can also purchase a Happy Potion from the Rewards Store.
If you’re hoping to complete the bingo in under 2.5 hours, the best tip is to start with a strategy. A lot of the challenges can be completed faster in bunches, for example you can purchase animal clothing from the Creature Keeper and complete a Henford-on-Bagley errand from the Creature Keeper at the same time. While in Henford-on-Bagley, make sure to befriend a Flock of Birds and purchase an oversized mushroom seed and, if you’re lucky, you might find a rainbow treat from the market stalls.
I’d recommend starting by unlocking the Grilled Cheese Aspiration. Your Sim needs to eat three grilled cheese sandwiches in a row to unlock the aspiration. Before developing the cooking skill, cook three single servings of grilled cheese sandwiches and you have more chance of starting a fire! Once you’ve begun improving the cooking skill, there will be less chance to set fire to your cooking.
If you are keen to play the long game, I recommend focusing on Cooking, Handiness, and Gardening skills early on. You will need to reach level 10 in Handiness to catch a Batfish and you will need to reach level 10 in Gardening in order to become a PlantSim. Check out SnarkyWitch’s guide to PlantSims to find out how! There are a few gardening related challenges including growing an oversized mushroom (and sitting on it), growing a cowplant, and growing and harvesting a Death Flower which you can complete along the way to becoming a PlantSim.
You don’t need to grind the Fishing Skill as you only need to be at least level 2 to catch a Treefish, but it will increase your chances of catching rarer fish if you are a higher level.
A higher Painting Skill level will increase your chances of painting a masterpiece and increase the value of the painting. It helps to have the The Painter Extraordinaire aspiration which gives your Sim the Muser trait (in Create A Sim) which will help your Sim feel inspired.
The fastest way to resurrect a pet is to purchase an Ambrosia Treat from the vet and travel to the pet cemetery on Deadgrass Isle. Ghost pets will begin spawning around 10pm and feeding them an Ambrosia Treat will bring them back to life! This does add the pet to your household, but I wouldn’t consider this ‘Adopting a Stray’ unless the pet has the ‘Stray’ tag above their name. Although, you can find plenty of stray pets while you’re at the pet cemetery.
Alternate versions
Using a bingo board to complete Sims challenges is a fun and easily adaptable concept. James Turner has a few alternative bingo boards on his website, including: Woohoo Bingo, Death Bingo, Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Bingo, Enchanted by Nature Bingo, and more!
You can easily create a personal bingo board with your own set of rules and requirements. Here are some ideas I came up with:
Explore all hidden worlds Sylvan Glade (Base Game), The Forgotten Grotto (Base Game), The Deep Woods (Outdoor Retreat), Planet Sixam (Get to Work), Cave of Sulani (Island Living), The Magic Realm (Realm of Magic), Mt. Komorebi Upper Mountain (Snowy Escape)
Unlock hidden traits and skills Chopstick Savvy, Spice Hound, Rock Climbing skill, Ice Skating skill, Juice Pong skill, etc.
The Sims 4 Horse Ranch bingo Win the Ultimate Horse Championship, earn a gold medal on the Ranch Animal Day event, craft the Vitality Nectar, explore Dreadhorse Cavern, etc.
It has been summer for well over a month now in the Northern Hemisphere and I am certainly feeling it. In the UK, along with other regions, there have been multiple heatwaves and in my experience, the best way to deal with them is to have a nice dip in the pool. Now, while I don’t have the luxury of owning a pool (or living near one) I figured why inflict this on my sims. So, a pool is what they shall receive. Here are some Sims 4 Pool Designs and Tips:
The Sims 4 Pool Designs & Tips
The Idea
In Sims, I love going all out for the seasons. This includes jam packing the calendar full of different (occasionally made up) holidays for my sims to take part in.
Summer is no different and while in real life there aren’t any holidays that I celebrate, that won’t stop my sims from celebrating all manor of events. First day of summer check, middle of summer check, last day of summer check, you can imagine the rest.
Pools days are of course, no exception and my idea for this build came from a desire to build the perfect garden for a summers day. I am someone who struggles significantly with landscaping and designing gardens. It doesn’t come naturally to me but I can only hope that with practice it gets easier. There’s not time like the present!
My vision for this build meant I need a setting with a warm climate. Afterall, no point of having a pool if you don’t get the chance to use it. This lead me to Tartosa as I’ve never sucessfuly built a home but hopefully this idea could change that.
With Tartosa being the setting, I chose to lean into the Mediterranean architecture style including arches, tiled roofs and earthy colour pallete.
My plan was all coming together.
Designs and Tips
Now, before I get into the build, here are some tips on how to build pools.
To start, you must find the Pool & Fountains button.
Once you’ve clicked on that, you’ll be presented with a series of different tools and shapes of pools. You can draw out either a rectangular or square shape with the pool tool, a unique shape with the custom tool or just select a shape from the preexisitng pool shapes.
Then, you can navigate to pool trims. There is one from base game and a few others from DLC’s such as Jungle Adventure and Lovestruck.
After that, move to Outdoor Water Décor and pick a water style. Depending on the location and build type, it could be a mossy green or a sparkly aqua.
Then, I add pool objects. In base game, we have a few different items like the classic pool ladder that used to be oh so tempting to remove. Additions like a diving board or pool float come from DLC’s such as Get Together and Riviera Retreat.
With all of this customisation, it allows you to create many unique and different types of pools that can fit with a wealth of builds. Here are some examples of the type of creativing that is possible.
Finishing the Build
For the build, one of the two necessities that I had going into it were that I wanted an indoor courtyard that had a pool and an outdoor pool. I also wanted to use terrain manipulation so that the house could be split-level.
The final structure that I settled on was the third iteration. It was build on the 30×20 lot in the top left-hand corner of Tartosa called Rifugio dei Pirati.
Once I had the terrain the way I liked it, I built the house. However, I realised that it would be awesome if the outdoor pool was also split level. So, I built a rectangular pool on the upper level then a curved pool on the lower level. I then used the Grotto Cascade feature from the Riviera Retreat kit to make it look like the upper pool was flowing into the lower pool.
My main struggled was the house structure because the terrain manipualtion decreased the house footprint and also made it difficult for window placement as part of the house was in the hill. I ended up sacrificing a living room for the courtyard. I’m glad I chose to do that because I think it makes the build look so much better.
Once I had the structure it didn’t take long to finish off. I knew exactly what I wanted the exterior colour scheme to be. In Mediterranean architecture, earthy colours are typical so I wanted to pair the earthy-brown brick I went for with red bougainvillea to add pops of colour. The interior was more muted with cool browns and pale greens. My favourite part of the interior was the tile floors because that felt particularly realistic to warmer climates.
The Outcome
Overall, I think the build came out well. I really like how the landscaping turned out. While I don’t think it was as neat as it could have been I like how cohesive it felt. I’m very happy with how the pools turned out and experimenting with them was very enjoyable and I’m looking forward to seeing where my creativity can take me.
It’s time to get your friends together for a game night, because The Sims Board Game from Goliath Games is finally here! The Sims team teases on the back of the game’s box that we will be able to “Ignite rivalries, meet unforgettable Sims, and discover where choices take you”, so let’s take a look and see what all comes with the game.
Table of Contents
The Game Board
The Sims Board Game uses a game board made up of three separate pieces. Individually, the backs of each of these pieces are Plumbobs, but put them together and flip them over, and you’ll have your hexagonal game board. The game board features six spots for you to place Venue cards, and highlights some classic locations from The Sims 4, such as Copperdale High School from The Sims 4 High School Years.
Terms to Know for The Sims Board Game
The instruction manual explains The Sims Board Game setup and gameplay steps in great detail with graphics to match, but there are a few terms that would be helpful to know before giving it a read:
Card Hub: This describes the section next to your board, used to organize your Aspiration, Action, and Iconic Sims cards for the game.
Move In: The Sims Board Game uses this term to describe setting up each player’s own card station.
FULL: Maxed-out Needs will display a full green bar.
EMPTY: Depleted Needs will display a full red bar.
SIMbol: The icons indicating various interests, hobbies, skills, etc. on the cards.
The Cards on The Table
The Sims Board Game comes with seven different types of cards, many of which you will add to your Card Hub near the game board. Keep reading to learn more about each card!
Action Cards
Action cards can be just about anything, and there are 115 of them! Action cards highlight social interactions, such as Go On a Fancy Date, items like the Rainbow Treat, and other interactions like Study Biology. Each of these cards has 1-4 SIMbols.
Many famous Sims have their own Action cards as well. For example:
“Watch Out! It’s Mrs. Crumplebottom!: You can take this card from any Venue! All players at a Venue of your choice lower 2 of their Needs, then discard this card.”
“Don Lothario Makes a Move: You can take this card from any Venue! Attach this card to an Iconic Sim on the board. They are permanently worth 1 point.”
“Grim Reaper Visits: You can take this card from any Venue! Discard any Iconic Sim, then discard this card.”
The Iconic Sims Move Action card is a special Action card. Drawing this card will make all Iconic Sims on the board Move. Every player picks up all of their Iconic Sims cards from their Home, and passes them to the left until the Iconic Sim finds a SIMbol that interests them.
Other Action cards include actions like:
Reset- Bottom: “Discard the bottom row of cards in the Card Hub, then replace them.”
Travel Again: “You may travel to another venue. (Lower the need, then take 1 card)”
Reset- Top: “Discard the top row of cards in the Card Hub, then replace them.”
Swap Cards: “Swap 1 of your Action cards with another player.”
Draw 2, Take 1!: “You may lower any need to look at the top 2 cards of the Action deck, take 1, and discard the other.”
Action cards with green Needs icons in the center of the card indicate that you can fill that specific Need on your Needs Tracker Board if you draw that card.
Aspiration Cards
Included in the new board game are 27 Aspiration cards to guide your gameplay. Similar to The Sims video games, Aspiration cards in The Sims Board Game can act as a measurement to determine if you’ve “won or lost the game”.
These aspirations mirror those found in the video game, including the following aspirations:

Quick Gameplay Overview
The goal of The Sims Board Game is to earn eight+ points in your turn by completing Aspiration cards and collecting Iconic Sims cards. To complete an Aspiration card, collect three SIMbols from Action cards, and any combination of these SIMbols will count towards the Aspiration card. If your Home card has a matching SIMbol, this can count toward your Aspiration card total. Completing an Aspiration card is worth three points. Iconic Sims cards with SIMbols matching the ones found on your Aspiration card can be added to your Home and your score for one point each.
The first player starts the game by Traveling to a Venue with SIMbols that match their Aspiration card. Then try to choose an Action card that has a matching SIMbol. If none are available, you still need to draw a card. Complete the action listed on the Action card. You may also invite Iconic Sims over to your Home at this stage, if they are interested.
As you Travel to different Venues, your Needs will decrease. To fill any EMPTY Needs, Go Home on your next turn. If you choose to Go Home instead of Travel, you can draw a new Aspiration card to change your aspiration, and refill two EMPTY Needs.
Maintain your Needs, earn eight points, and you’ve won the game! Congratulations!
Review of The Sims Board Game so Far
When I wanted to get started and use the “Learn to Play” QR codes on the box and instruction manual, I was a little disappointed. These QR codes take you to The Sims Board Game YouTube teaser. This doesn’t really provide any more detail on how to play the game, so I recommend sticking with the instruction manual or reading online guidesuntil those links are updated.
Using the Needs Tracker Board adds a feeling of immersion to the board game. You’ll quickly look down, see your Needs drained, and work to fill them up again, just like in the video game we all know and love. This feature could use a little more explaining, however. The instructions don’t call out how many Needs have to be EMPTY before you must Go Home and refill them, or be eliminated from the game.
The game board has a lovely design that intertwines the various worlds and neighborhoods in The Sims 4,with possible hints at new features. I also appreciate the fact that the backs of the three pieces are individual Plumbobs, and how they fold up nicely into triangles.
However, I don’t really feel like the game board is necessary to play the game. In my experience, it doesn’t really advance the game, and you can choose to go wherever you want on the board with minimal restriction. I would prefer a little more challenge in this aspect.
At the end of the day, the game is pretty fun. Playing with a mix of Simmers non-Simmers is a blast, too. Since each card reminds you of a household you’ve played, or a wild storyline you’ve concocted over the years of playing The Sims, they act almost like conversational prompts. Laugh over run-ins with Aliens with your Simmer friends, or fill your non-Simmer friends in on all of the Bella Goth lore. Whoever you decide to play with is sure to get a kick out of this game.
Now it’s your turn to play! What are your thoughts on The Sims Board Game? Share your reactions in the comments below!
Right now you can get The Sims Board Game in US online and retail stores like Target for $19.99USD. The UK / Europe and possibly rest of the world rollout is expected to start September 18th.
