Individual Items
To showcase the items properly, I created three sims with varying skin tones, although these won’t represent the wide variety of skin tones available in the game and how they may interact with the items. While I didn’t change the preset swatches using the hue, opacity, saturation, and brightness sliders for these images, I did pick out swatches I thought would work well if there was a swatch present that did so. However, if there wasn’t, I picked the swatches that showed up the most so the actual texture of the asset was visible. In total, there are 27 assets that come with this kit. Per category, there are…

In-Game
With many of these items from The Sims 4 Essential Glam kit being light-reactive, meaning that they had a sheen or shine that changed and reflected light, I felt it was necessary to show how the items actually looked in-game and in different forms of lighting. These were all taken on Ultra Graphics settings during a sunny day and then a cloudy night in Tartosa, so results may vary based on the world, weather, lighting, or graphics settings.
Natural Light
Looking back on these photos, the actual textures from this kit really shine in bright natural lighting, as they tend to look smoother on the skin and make a sim look very fresh and glamorous.
Indoor Lighting
I also thought indoor lighting looked nice, but some of the highlights became a bit harsh under the simulated artificial lighting, and any pieces that had grainy or uneven textures became more noticeable.
Darkness
Darkness is not The Sims 4’s strong suit, but the makeup stands up pretty well. Obviously it doesn’t look as great as warm outdoor lighting, but the darkness softens the features and helps avoid the harsh lines found on certain assets.
Our Review of The Essential Glam Kit
If I had to give this kit a rating, I would say it would be an overall 8/10. I personally really love it and know that if I work with the swatches a bit, I could add tons of variety to my sims outfits and make putting makeup on them with no or low custom content less of a chore, and more of a fun feature. However, certain textures do have issues with very obvious gradients, blending issues, and graininess that becomes more or less visible based on your sims skin tone.
For $5 USD or your currency equivalent, and in comparison to the makeup we’ve received in previous expansions, I feel that this is a really good deal for those trying to work with little or no custom content, especially those on console who don’t have access to custom content at all. However, I personally know I’ve also seen custom content from creators, including Crypticsim, that had smoother textures and less issues with skin tone discrepancies.
I am still happy that I got it, and I like the direction that The Sims Team is heading with kits and creator kits; While they do seem oversaturated currently, I think being able to pick and choose for features or assets you like instead of forking over much more for an Expansion, Game, or Stuff Pack solely for certain pieces from it is a much better deal for most players.
The Sims 4 Essential Glam Kit is out now, as of August 21st, and retails for $5 USD or your local equivalent currency. Have you purchased the kit or do you plan to do so? What are your thoughts on what it adds and the quality of these items?

Our Review of The Grange Mudroom Kit
The Sims 4 Grange Mudroom Creator kit adds charming yet simple items for one of my personal favourites, yet sometimes overlooked, transitional spaces in my Sims’ homes: the entryway. There is a focus on blending realistic functionality with Peacemaker’s simple design choices, which allows this kit to achieve its goal of making your Sims’ homes feel lived in from the moment they step through the door.
The kit has a simple, country home vibe with neutral colours, cream cabinets, and natural woods. It’s a look that says “cosy countryside cottage,” but at the same time, it isn’t so themed that it looks out of place in a modern family home. There’s also a nice balance between sturdy, functional pieces and lighter decorative items, so you’re not just left with big chunks of furniture.
The first thing that stands out is the amount of detail packed into such a small kit. Unlike some Build/Buy packs that give you lots of big, showpiece furniture, this one leans heavily into clutter and smaller touches. That might not sound exciting at first, but it’s exactly what makes it shine. The little details, coats on hooks, shoes by the door, a satchel left on the floor, do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to making a space feel alive.
You’ll find a bench with cubby holes, slim shelving, a console table, and wall cabinets. They’re practical and match well with kitchens, hallways, or laundry rooms, too. The bench is a highlight since it instantly makes an entryway look useful instead of just decorative. Clutter is where the kit shines. Coats, shoes, boots, a satchel, and even a little pile of mail make your builds look less polished and more like real homes. It’s the kind of detail that helps with storytelling, especially if you want to make a busy family house or a lived-in cottage.
Almost everything you see is decorative, the dresser and closets being an exception. Coats can’t be taken on or off, shoes don’t affect Sims’ outfits, and the storage pieces don’t function as actual storage. Additions such as compatibility with the Sims 4 Snowy Escape’s shoe signs would have been a nice touch added to the shoe sign or the shoes themselves.
The swatches lean heavily on neutral tones and muted shades. While they suit the rustic aesthetic, some players might miss brighter or more modern options that could stretch the kit’s usability even further. It would have been nice to see a few more colourful swatches; however, this may have come at the expense of the more basic and versatile neutral tones.
The Sims 4: Grange Mudroom Kit is a solid little set for players who enjoy clutter and cosy builds. It doesn’t add gameplay, but it makes hallways and “mudrooms” feel more alive. If you’re a builder who loves detail, you’ll probably get a lot out of it. For the $4.99/£4.99 price tag, I’m certain there is something for every kind of builder here, with some pieces that I will find myself using often.

It seems that a new The Sims 4 Roadmap has been leaked online. Including the next Expansion Pack launching early October!
Last night, a twitter user replied to our tweet about the latest Sims 4 Patch with a mysterious “Adventure Awaits” tweet. We had to look deeper, and it seems that The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits is the name of the next Expansion Pack. Plus, it seems that the next Sims 4 Roadmap for the game, lasting from September to December 2025 has already been leaked in full by this user.
Let’s break down everything that’s been circulating the internet so far.
The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack coming October 2nd
User named @Medievalkiller12 on X has shared a series of tweets about The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack. Stating that the Pack is a part of the new Sims 4 Roadmap, and will be released on October 2nd across Computers and Consoles. Here’s what they stated:
The next roadmap, which runs September to December, will be released next Tuesday. This roadmap includes an expansion pack (Adventure Awaits), which will be released on 2/10. The rest are kits until December, along with another in-game mission. The launch trailer will be 4/09.
We don’t know much about the Expansion Pack’s theme contents, but so far the name of the Pack sounds familiar with the speculation we heard late June 2025. Here’s what we know:
Next Expansion after Fairies is the most expensive Expansion pack in the history of the franchise that doesn’t add a new Pet or Life Stage because of how long it was in development for.
But I have been told this is largely due to inflation, as for the last few years it costs Maxis more money now to develop a single Expansion than it did to develop The Sims Medieval (which was an entire spin off).
It’s a Vacation pack with a twist, that will allow you to customise and create Vacations beyond what Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure can do. You will be able to create custom venues that your Sims will engage with on their Vacation. There will be a big focus on Family Vacations, as the existing Vacation packs are more focused on Adult gameplay.
EA are expecting the Expansion to sell over 7 – 10 million copies within the first 12 months because they know the themes within the pack are highly requested and that packs with similar focuses have achieved similar success. So the marketing team is already coming up with ideas on how to promote the game.
Information above is still not fully confirmed, but the next round of leaks includes a new Sims 4 Roadmap. Which, by looking at the image, seems legit.
New The Sims 4 Roadmap Leak: September to December 2025
The same user (@Medievalkiller12) posted, what appears to be, a Sims 4 Roadmap Leak for all the new content coming from September to December 2025. Including the confirmation of The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion and its rollout dates, THREE Base Game Updates and presumably up to (or more than) five Kits in total.
Here’s what to expect from the next Sims 4 Roadmap according to the leak:
The Sims 4 Roadmap from September to December 2025
September 4th: The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits EP Reveal
September 10th: The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits EP Gameplay Trailer
September 23rd: New The Sims 4 Event Begins & Base Game Update
October 2nd: The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits EP Launch
October 9th: The Sims 4 Autumn Apparel Kit
November 4th: New Sims 4 Event Ends & Base Game Update
November 6th: New The Sims 4 Creator Kits
December 2nd: The Sims 4 Base Game Update
December 4th: New the Sims 4 Kits
If the leak is correct, we’re looking at another Sims 4 Roadmap filled with big releases. Including both paid and free updates to the game.
Time will tell if the leak turns out to be true or not. Until then, stay tuned on Sims Community and be the first to know when The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits – or whatever the Expansion Pack 20 title is – gets announced!

inZOI v0.3.0 Update
※ v0.3.0 is a general update for all players, separate from the DLC.
This update brings deeper emotions and behaviors to Zois, a more vibrant city atmosphere, and richer interactions—delivering a more immersive and organic simulation experience.
Zois now express emotions more subtly depending on the situation, and relationships between Zois develop more naturally and with more distinct personalities. The city environment simulation area has been expanded, with crowds appearing throughout the city, each with their own stories and purposes.
We’ve expanded the range of interactions based on player feedback, and refined character motions and facial expressions to make them more fluid and realistic.
Additionally, architectural elements such as swimming pools, elevators, and various new furniture have been added, allowing you to enrich your inZOI world in your own unique way.
Check out the full details of the update below!
Interactions: Zois With Emotions and Personality
Zois now express emotions more naturally and interact more fluidly, forming deeper and more dynamic relationships. New group actions, like eating or playing together, help bring warmth and personality to their connections.
Conversation flow and emotional transitions are now smoother and more consistent. Depending on their traits, Zois respond differently and may even express urges during interactions.
The romantic relationship system has also been expanded with greater emotional depth, allowing for more relatable dynamics such as one-sided crushes, love confessions, and divorces.
New Features
Emotion GUI Overhaul
The emotion UI has been completely revamped to make Zoi’s expressions, emotion icons, and emotion levels easier to understand at a glance. Additionally, new status indicators have been added to help players better grasp each Zoi’s emotional state in more depth.
Thought Balloons in Conversations
During conversations and interactions, visual thought bubbles now appear above Zois, reflecting their inner thoughts. These icons make it easier to understand their emotional reactions and imagine what’s going on in their minds.
New Collaborative Actions
Zois can now perform collaborative actions such as eating meals or playing games together.
Improved Features
Emotion Improvements
Zois now display more natural and believable emotional transitions. Interactions and reactions vary more clearly based on individual traits, sudden emotional shifts have been smoothed out, and conversation flow has become more consistent overall.
Conversation Improvements
Conversations have been refined with more nuanced expressions, allowing for varied interpretations and outcomes depending on the situation. Conversation results now branch into 2–3 possible paths, and players can explore more conversation options even without specific emotional conditions. The ratio of negative conversations has also been adjusted to create a more balanced emotional flow.
Zoi Interaction Improvements
Zois now respond more clearly when approached, and no longer walk away immediately after a conversation begins, making interactions feel more natural. Clicking on a moving Zoi will now cause them to briefly pause, addressing the previous issue of being unable to talk to Zois passing by.
Romantic Relationship Enhancements
Romantic relationships between Zois now feel more nuanced and emotionally dynamic. New developments—such as one-sided crushes, love confessions, obsessions, and divorces—have been added, along with trait-based reactions and outcomes that vary depending on how well a Zoi sets the mood.
Urge Improvements
Zois now express urges more appropriately, based on the context and conditions of the situation.
Preferences will no longer be automatically assigned to newly created Zois.
Newly created Zois will now start with lower value trait scores.
Gameplay: A New Routine, A New Discovery
Swim freely in swimming pools and the ocean, cultivate crops by setting up farming plots, or take a trip to explore a brand-new city! You can also mine raw gemstones at mining spots, refine them into jewels, and craft your own accessories.
Explore the city more freely with 14 new vehicles, including motorcycles and scooters. New interactive lots have been added in Dowon and Bliss Bay, while existing areas have also been updated to feel more vibrant and diverse.
Look forward to richer everyday experiences for your Zois—filled with discovery, creativity, and stories uniquely your own.

Snorkeling
Explore the ocean through snorkeling! While diving through the sea, Zois may encounter marine life and even discover unexpected collectible items.
※ Zois will only be able to move within a certain area while snorkeling.
Fishing

Start your own farm by placing farming plots in Build Mode. With tools like watering cans and rakes, Zois can grow crops, which can then be used in cooking or sold for profit.
Natural Disasters
Dynamic weather events like dust storms, heavy rain, and heat waves may now impact the entire city. These events can cancel schedule items, damage crops, or lead to unexpected accidents during outdoor activities—so stay alert!
Mining & Jewel Crafting
The Handiwork and Collecting skills have been added. Zois can gather raw gemstones throughout the city and cut them into jewels at a crafting table.
※ This update will only be available after starting a new game.

Resale Store
You can deliver crops, fish, minerals, and more to the Resale Store, or purchase various items there. Delivery prices fluctuate daily, so make sure to sell at the right time!
Loans
When purchasing your first home in the city, you can take out a mortgage loan. Both the principal and interest can be repaid using your smartphone, and depending on your situation, you may also borrow from high-interest private lenders. Be careful—failure to repay may result in forced collection!
Insurance
Visit the insurance website using your smartphone or computer to purchase a plan that fits your Zoi’s needs. Choose from life insurance, natural disaster coverage, or property insurance depending on your situation.
Budget
Track your family’s income and expenses using the Budget app on your smartphone.

The Sims 4 Update – August 19th
New Realistic Skin Details
The Sims 4 Base Game has been treated to a host of new and realistic skin details. From age spots to eye bags and wrinkles, there is something for every Sim in The Sims 4 August 19th update. Check out the cute new trailer provided by The Sims Team.
It's all in the details 💚 New content available now in today's base game update ✨ pic.twitter.com/exIvQulZC1
Several new wrinkles and age details can be added to both the upper and lower body for teens and older, which also come in different densities. Stretch marks that were previously introduced in 2023 are now available in lighter and darker tones to match different skin colours. Full-body freckles, previously introduced in The Sims 4: Growing Together, have been expanded and are available to all Base Game players. Rosacea has also been added in a variety of levels of redness.
Ailment Toggle Options
Back in July, The Sims Team released an update that reduced the chance of ailment contagion between Sims. They’ve gone a step further in this update and allowed players to toggle ailments on and off.
The new options can be found in the game setting under ‘Pack Settings’ > ‘Enchanted by Nature’. Here you will see a simple toggle box labelled “Enable Ailment Spread”
If disabled, Ailments will no longer spread contagiously. Once disabled, Sims who already have Ailments will need to wait it out or seek a cure, but no more Sims will contract ailments through spontaneous spread. Being near or interacting with Sims who have an Ailment will no longer have any risk of contagious spread.
Whether or not this is disabled, Fairy Sims in your Household can still give Ailments to other Sims if they have unlocked the Cure or Apply Ailments Fairy Ability. Naturopath Sims who choose to Work From Home will still be able to recieve clients with Ailments who need treatment.
NOTE: Sims who become Very Imbalanced will still contract an Ailement. Uncheck both Enable Balance & Imbalance and Enable Ailment Spread to disable all natural sources of Ailements.
Enable Ailment Spread – The Sims 4 Options
Pack Selector
Players of The Sims 3 will be used to an option similar to this when launching the game. Players of The Sims 4 can now toggle active Expansion, Game, and Stuff Packs, as well as kits, from the main menu if they wish to play without them. Gone are the days of having to use James Turner’s Pack Disabler tool!
To select which packs you wish to enable, head to the menu (…) and choose “Pack Selection”. From this screen (shown below), you can uncheck any of the packs you own that you don’t wish to play with. The game will be required to restart to take effect.
Bug Fixes
Several bug fixes from the laundry list have once again been quashed!
Fixed Outfit Categories – Recent additions, such as the 25th Anniversary Sneakers and T-shirts, have now been added to more outfit categories.
Hair Texture Corrections – The curly hair from the 25th Anniversary Update is now correctly labelled as wavy hair type.
Multiple Students (High School Years) – Players who take four or more teens to an active school day will now all be assigned tasks.
Fire Tuning (Enchanted by Nature) – Sims with Bad Luck will be less likely to start fires when cooking.

The Sims 4 Pack Selection Official Guide
Pack Selection is a new feature allowing you to customize your experience when starting a new save based on the stories you want to tell and the experiences you want to build. This helps free up resources on your PC, Mac, or consoles without needing to uninstall packs you don’t currently use. Please note that once you’ve started a save, removing packs may affect the save itself, so this feature is best utilized when creating new saves to optimize performance.
Disabling packs will remove pack-specific content like hair, clothing, objects, and gameplay functions. Re-enabling will restore this content.
Step-by-Step Guide
Using Pack Selection
Access Game Options:
From the main menu, select the three dots (•••) at the top right, to open the Game Options menu.
Select “Pack Selection”:
Navigate and select the “Pack Selection” menu.
Choose Packs:
View all your owned Packs and select which Packs you want to load or unload. Simply select which Packs you would like to load (indicated with a checkmark) and which you would like to unload (No checkmark).
Confirm Selections:
Press the checkmark button at the bottom of the screen to confirm your selections.
Note: Loading times may vary based on the number of packs selected.
Important Considerations:
Disabling packs will remove pack-specific content like hair, clothing, objects, and gameplay functions. Re-enabling will restore this content.
Warning: Disabling pack content may impact your save file. Please back up your saves before proceeding.
Despite thorough testing, the diverse range of hardware configurations, legacy gameplay, pack combinations, CAS, B/B items, and pack-specific traits create complex game states. These complexities may impact player saves, so we always recommend backing up your save files to ensure your game data is protected.
Mods: 3rd party mods and Custom Content (CC) is not available from the Pack Selection menu. It is recommended to disable mods before proceeding.
Options for Loading a Game with Missing Content
Loading a save with missing content on PC will show whether the necessary Packs are loaded, indicated by the Pack icons next to “Required Packs.”
To restore missing content, access the Pack Selection menu, choose and load the necessary Packs.
Additionally, when loading a game with missing content, several options are available for you to choose from:
Play Save with Missing Content:
Continue playing your current save file without the missing content.
Note: Items such as clothing, objects, worlds, and gameplay functions will be unavailable with this option.
Play a New Copied Save: (PC/Mac Only)
Create and play a new save file with missing content. This save will be labeled with “copy_” in the name.
Note: Items, clothing, worlds, etc. from missing packs are unavailable.
This option ensures your original save file remains unchanged.
Add Missing Content:
Return to the Pack Selection menu to load the missing Packs. The missing Packs will be pre-selected. Confirm to load them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pack Selection?
Pack Selection is a new feature allowing you to customize your experience when starting a new save based on the stories you want to tell and the experiences you want to build. This helps free up resources on your PC, Mac, or consoles without needing to uninstall packs you don’t currently use. Please note that once you’ve started a save, removing packs may affect the save itself, so this feature is best utilized when creating new saves to optimize performance.
How does it work?
Access the Game Options menu from the main menu, select “Pack Selection“, and choose the packs you wish to load or unload. Confirm your choices with the checkmark button.
What happens if I disable a pack?
Disabling a Pack removes its specific content, such as hair, clothing, and objects. We recommend only disabling Packs when starting a new Saved Game to avoid any unintended loss of content and progress.
Be aware that disabling packs may impact your save file, so backup is recommended.
Will disabling packs affect my save files?
Disabling packs may impact your save files if they contain pack-specific objects, traits, clothing, Build/Buy or other features. Ensure you back up your saves before making changes.
Will Pack Selection impact my saves?
There’s risk when unloading/loading packs. The diverse range of hardware configurations, legacy gameplay, pack combinations, CAS, B/B items, and pack-specific traits create complex game states. These complexities may impact player saves, so we always recommend backing up your save files to ensure your game data is protected.
Are mods compatible with Pack Selection?
We recommend disabling all mods before proceeding to ensure stability.
How do I know if my save file is missing content?
If a save file is missing content, you might notice a few indicators:
Unloaded Content Message: When loading the save file, you will see a warning indicating that certain packs or content are missing. This message appears before you proceed to play.
Save File Details: Save files with missing content on PC will show whether the necessary Packs are loaded, indicated by the Pack icons next to “Required Packs.”
Pack Selection Menu: In the Pack Selection menu, any packs without a checkmark next to them indicate they are not loaded.
What happens if I try to load a game with missing Packs?
When loading a game with missing content, you’ll have the following options:
Play Save with Missing Content:
Continue playing your current save file without the missing content.
Note: Items such as clothing, objects, worlds, and gameplay functions will be unavailable with this option.
Please be aware that saving the game after loading with missing content might lead to unexpected issues with your save file.
Play a New Copied Save [PC ONLY]:
Create and play a new save file with missing content. This save will be labeled with “copy_” in the name.
Note: Items from missing packs are unavailable
This ensures your original save file remains unchanged.
Add Missing Content:
Return to the Pack Selection menu to load the missing Packs. The missing Packs will be pre-selected. Confirm to load them.
What happens to my household Sims if they were living in a world that I unloaded with Pack Selection?
If a pack is unloaded, any content specific to that pack will be removed or become inaccessible. This could include objects, traits, or interactions related to the pack. Don’t worry—your Sims will still be available from the Manage Households menu. You can view them there and move them into a lot or transfer them between households. However, any items or elements specific to the unloaded pack will be removed from them until the pack is reloaded.
If I play across multiple saves with different packs (e.g., one with all packs and one with none), how will this affect my gameplay and saves?
Playing with different packs means you’ll experience varying content. In a save with all packs, you have full access, while a save with none limits you to base game content. Be careful when switching between saves as you’ll receive a warning for missing content but not when new content has been added. Always check the Pack Selection menu to see what’s loaded.

EA gives an official introduction to new Sims 4 Skin Details.
A new official blog post is out from EA, giving more details about the brand new Sims 4 Skin Details introduced with the latest Game Patch.

The Sims 4 Skin Details Dev Blog
Sul Sul, Simmers
I’m Ash, a Producer on The Sims 4, and I’m excited to introduce you to the latest free update to Skin Details in Create a Sim!
It’s been a year and a half since we released our Vitiligo update, and Skin Details remain a meaningful part of how players express themselves in The Sims 4. Whether you’re creating Sims who look like you or people you know, telling a story, or simply exploring all the different kinds of Sims you can make – Skin Details help bring those ideas to life. We’ve heard from many of you that you want more ways to reflect aging, skin variation, and lived experiences, and we hope this update helps you tell those stories even more fully.
As we’ve continued to look at more ways to expand representation in The Sims 4 Base Game, we realized we wanted to give a little extra love to Elder Sims. Once we were set on Wrinkles, Age Spots and Dark Spots, we also decided to add Rosacea, Freckles with more coverage, and new Stretch Mark options. I’m so proud of what our artists created for this update, and I can’t wait for you all to try them out!
As the Producer for a team dedicated to the ongoing enhancement of The Sims 4 Base Game, I oversee the development process to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. I connect different teams to keep things timely and on theme, and I get to help decide what we do! Each release relies on our Art Directors’ vision to guide our artists, align with design goals, and ensure the final result is both authentic and high-quality. We worked with two Art Directors, Tracey and Cheyenne, for this release, and I’m incredibly grateful to collaborate with such dedicated teammates!
Tracey, you helped shape this update from the start by guiding which Skin Details to include. How did you go about choosing them? What’s your favorite detail?
Tracey: My main focus was to add age and body mass representation to the game, to promote diversity and improve representation in game. My favorite detail is the body wrinkles, especially the knees and belly buttons. We can see how beautiful aging is with these gorgeous details added to Sims.
Cheyenne, you oversaw the development of these Skin Details from concept to final art. How did you and the team bring these to life?
Cheyenne: Our goal was to depict authentic wrinkle shapes but make sure they fit in style with the game and similar existing skin details, we ended up simplifying some fine lines to let the larger shapes shine. The artists worked hard to give Sims a variety of unique choices with these added face and body options.
Thanks so much to our Art Directors for sharing a bit about their process! Now, let’s take a look at the new additions in more detail:
Wrinkles & Age Details
We’ve added new Wrinkles and Age Spots to Create a Sim, designed to help Elder Sims feel more unique and expressive. You’ll find options for Mouth Wrinkles and Eye Bags, as well as Age and Dark Spots for the cheeks and forehead. We’ve also included Upper and Lower Body Wrinkles, available with or without Age Spots and in multiple densities.
Stretch Marks
We’re expanding our Stretch Marks options with new additions for both the Upper and Lower Body. These come in various options designed for the torso, arms, and legs and are available in both light and dark tones, just like the Stretch Marks we added in 2023.
Freckles
As someone who’s speckled head to toe, I’m personally excited for this one! We’ve added new Freckles for your Sim’s face and their whole body. These were created in a style similar to the Freckles from The SIms 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack, and cover everything from shoulders to ankles. The face designs also cover a broad area, and all Freckles come in light, medium, and heavy densities.
Rosacea
Rosacea is also now available as a skin detail in Create-a-Sim. While we initially considered this for Elder Sims, rosacea is common across many ages. You can choose from three options that show different levels of redness and irritation.
We hope you enjoy the new Skin Details and get a lot of use out of them! We’re excited for what’s next – whether that’s more Create a Sim customization, culturally-inspired additions, or new recipes (and more)!
F.A.Q.
Can the new Skin Details layer with others? How about Tattoos and Body Hair?
Yes! Each one will layer in a determined order, and you can layer them with both Tattoos and Body Hair.
Can I choose the color of the Skin Details? What about the pattern?
You can’t change the detail itself, but you have various options for how light or heavy it is, and light and dark color options.
Can the shape of the Skin Details change based on a Sim’s body?
Yes. Skin Details will adjust some depending on where you stretch or move their skin or body parts. If you change a Sim’s body part, the details will change with it.
Will the Skin Details carry over as my Sim ages? Can I add or remove them?
Yes, as your Sim ages the details will stay with them. However, teenage Sims do not have access to Wrinkles.
Will the new Skin Details work on Child Sims?
Not at this time, but we plan to add more Skin Details for kids!

New Feature: Pack Selection

Performance Updates
In this patch, we’ve made several optimizations to enhance your gameplay experience.
Enhanced rendering performance for smoother visuals.
Improved responsiveness by optimizing how graphics are processed.
Fixed issues causing crashes when certain graphics settings were used.
Addressed shadow flickering to ensure more stable reflections in water.
Resolved problems with lighting to maintain consistent brightness throughout gameplay.
Enchanted by Nature Ailments Option
In Game Options, the latest expansion pack now has a Pack Settings option for “Ailment Spread”! Unchecking “Enable Ailment Spread” will contain Ailments to Sims that have contracted it, so other Sims won’t catch it. It’s like a sickness that isn’t contagious! You still can have Fairies deliberately give Ailments to other Sims, Naturopaths still will be able to treat clients who have Ailments, and becoming Very Imbalanced can result in Ailments. To play without that last consequence, just uncheck the “Enable Balance & Imbalance” checkbox. This will prevent Sims from getting an Ailment from being Very Imbalanced (because they won’t get Very Imbalanced at all).
Since kicking off our Creator Kits series, we have launched six one-of-a-kind collections in collaboration with our standout community creators, each bringing their signature style to The Sims 4 franchise.
Coming soon: two new releases featuring Grange Mudroom by Peacemaker_ic and Essential Glam by CRYPTICSIM, both dropping in the store later this month.

A small look into tomorrow’s Sims 4 Update release.
As announced in the official roadmap, there’s going to be a new Sims 4 Update released on August 19th, 2025 across Desktop and Console platforms. Along this announcement were also news about the Ailments Feature getting additionally fine tuned through a new Game Option.
With the official Sims Blog post that just came out today, we now know that both updates will be happening throughout the same patch. Tomorrow, new skin customization options will be available as stated in the official announcement!
Take a look at the feature addition in Game Options for The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature. Explained by one of the developers working on the game:
Sul Sul! This is Nate, lead Designer of the Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack. I’m here to talk a little bit about Ailments, how we developed them, and the game settings toggle we’re adding to give more agency to choose how Ailments manifest in your game.
Our hope with Ailments was to create interesting situations that ask you to change up how you play. The way they affect a Sim’s life can look and feel different depending on how you meet it: it can be a bump in the road, a chance to flex the Apothecary skill, or perhaps an unexpected benefit! For instance, Greenie Meanie’s symptoms can strain relationships, but also provide a Gardening skill boost. If you’re a Sim who spends more time with plants than other Sims, it’s actually quite helpful!
Living up to this aspiration of challenge and reward for each of the broad array of Ailments was no small task and I’m proud of the team’s hard work. At the same time, we heard your feedback loud and clear that Ailments were happening too often!
We’re going beyond the recent patch, which reduced the chance of contagious Ailments spread across the game, to also add a new settings toggle which disables Ailment spread completely. Find it by going to the Main Menu and selecting Game Options > Pack Settings. Under the section for Enchanted by Nature, you’ll see the settings toggle Enable Ailment Spread. When this is disabled, Ailments can no longer jump from one Sim to another and Sims have no chance of picking up Ailments in their day-to-day life. Sims with current Ailments will still have them, which you can wait out or cure through whichever method you prefer. You can change the toggle back and forth at any time. Check out the FAQ for more details!
We hope that adding this toggle setting will help you find new and more satisfying ways to incorporate Enchanted by Nature in your play and storytelling. Now if you’ll excuse me, my Sims have a date to press some flowers then take a nap in the forest. Dag Dag!
F.A.Q.
What will I see with this new Ailments Spread toggle?
The Ailment Spread toggle is enabled by default. If you do nothing, Ailments will continue working the same way (including the reduced chance of spreading added by the recent patch.)
What will happen in my save if I choose to disable Ailments Spread?
Sims won’t get Ailments from any contagious source. This means no chance of Ailments from day-to-day activity like going to work or high school, or from Foraging. It also means no chance of picking up an Ailment from being around a Sim who has one.
Ailments that are present in your save when you disable the toggle will still be there. Sims will still need to wait it out or seek a cure, but no new Ailments will occur due to spread.
If I disable the toggle, what happens to other features in this Expansion Pack that use Ailments?
Everything still works the same, just that Ailments are no longer contagious! Here are the details:
Fairy Sims’ Cure or Apply Ailment Ability is unchanged. You can still direct Fairies to give Ailments to other Sims. While controlling a Sim with an Ailment, you can still try asking a friendly Fairy to cure you.
For the Naturopath Career, clients coming to your Sim’s home will still have Ailments that need treatment.
You can still craft Ailment cures at the Apothecary Table to sell, treat Naturopath clients, etc.
Sims who become Very Imbalanced will still develop an Ailment, but it can’t spread to anyone else. (If you’d prefer not to play with Ailments this way, you can disable the Enable Balance & Imbalance toggle on this same settings panel!)
So if I disable both Ailments Spread and Balance & Imbalance, will I see any Ailments in my game?
The only Ailments you’ll see are:
Ailments that Sims already had at the moment you disable the toggle.
Ailments you direct your Sims to put on others, via Fairies’ Cure or Apply Ailment Ability or PlantSim’s Poison Kiss interaction.
Ailments on Sims that visit when you opt for your Naturopath to receive clients at home.

The Sims 4 Grange Mudroom is a Build Kit done in collaboration with Peacemaker. And for the new additions in CAS we have crypticsim who delivered a series of new additions such as makeup, lashes and more with The Sims 4 Essential Glam Kit.
We’ve also updated the article with official screenshots of the new Kits.
Two exciting Kits designed by Simmers are on the way!
Crypticsim’s Essential Glam Kit Our first-ever makeup Kit, packed with stunning looks to elevate your style.
Peacemaker’s Grange Mudroom Kit Give your home a fresh welcome with a beautifully designed entryway makeover.
The Sims 4 Grange Mudroom Kit
Decorate and organize your entryway into the perfect mudroom with a range of built-in items, walls, flooring, and decor. Whether your Sim’s home is on a ranch or an inner city dwelling, if they enjoy gardening or other outdoor activities, a mudroom is a perfect addition for an active, outdoor lifestyle. Use the space to tell a story of their interests and hobbies — such as a set of gumboots for muddy times in the garden — or help show the day-to-day life of a family home, where leaving a pile of mail to be opened is commonplace. A mudroom is the entryway into your Sim’s lives.
The Sims 4 Essential Glam Kit
A new look for The Sims 4 Essential Glam Kit was provided by @crypticsim on X who posted the official Kit header.
Upgrade your Sim’s makeup collection. Easily transition from subtle daytime looks, featuring soft eyeshadows and neutral lip glosses, to striking smoky eyeshadows with bold lipsticks. Transform your Sims’ makeup look with items like foundation, contour, and highlight. Add unique items like faux freckles and beauty marks to complete your look. Whether it’s for date nights, weddings, award ceremonies, or graduations, this Kit guarantees every Sim can showcase their unique style.
Both Sims 4 Creator Kits are retailed at $4.99USD each, or a price equivalent to your local currency. You can expect the new Grange Mudroom and Essential Glam to hit the digital shelves including EA App, Steam, Epic, Playstation and Microsoft Stores on August 21st.

Spread Your Wings with our Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature CC Recommendations!
With Enchanted by Nature approaching one month since its official release, browsing both brand new and older mystical creations by custom content creators has been a pastime of mine, finding hidden gems from the past or new items to spice up the game! Browse these Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature CC recommendations to expand your fairy’s closet and overhaul your game!

Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature CC Recommendations
Since many members of The Sims Community have been begging for fairies to be added (as far back as 2018!) due to the overwhelming popularity of the occult in the Sims 3: Supernatural, there is absolutely loads of both new and pack compatible mystical custom content, as well as older options that still provide tons of variety for your The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature CC searches!
Defaults & Overrides
Defaults and Overrides are terms primarily used for mods and custom content that change something within the game. Most commonly, these include Eyes, Skin textures, and Create-A-Sim backgrounds, but almost anything in the game can be overridden, even things like food textures, utensils, and entire terrain textures!
Disclaimer: Responsible Usage of Overrides & Defaults
It is recommended that you keep defaults separate from other custom content in your mods folder. Since defaults replace an in-game asset, they can easily conflict with anything that also changes that asset. For example, you can choose different eye sets for different occults or sim types (including pets and other animals), but you can’t have say, two sets of Alien eye replacements.
Clover Eyes by Myshunosun
Myshunosun, a maxis-match creator part of the EA creator network, was the first I found to update their classic Clover Eyes to include the new fairy swatches, completely overhauling them to something more otherwordly and beautiful!
The 9PM Eyes by ancenth are an amazing collection of custom and default eyes, as well as tiny details to make each sim have a unique gaze. The eye defaults are separated and even expanded upon to include more swatches of insect-like eyes, ones with goat-like pupils, and so much more!
This Create-A-Sim background by Bloomberry is so beautiful and warm, the background accent lights making for a cozy background while you’re scrolling through endless CAS assets to pick out the perfect hair, outfit, or skin detail. Paired with a warm-toned Create-a-Sim lighting mod and you feel immersed!
For something closer to the original swatches, someone-elsa provides a great set of overrides, adding small catchlights and detail to make them clear and realistic while keeping with a Maxis Match style!
Dynastid eyes by Squea are a great mix between realistic and adorably cartoony, especially with their occult overrides! With tons of additional swatches as well, the set adds so much more customization and expands your options when creating your sim!
Another Create-A-Sim background by Bloomberry, this time fitting very well with the Naturopath and living among nature aesthetic provided by The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature! The floor is bare with only grass as a simple cover, and it almost looks like the inside of the fairy homes!
Pondskater eyes by Squea are a culmination of their many eye sets from over the years, including certain details and features found in the Dynastid set also featured in this article!
Gloomy Eyes by GloomyClauds (aka LaulauPlays!) are almost comparable to jewels or gems, with a beautiful shine and deep rich colors that make them striking on any sim! The width of the color schemes also allow for compatibility or matching with any pair of wings, set of clothes, or anything else you may want to match up!
From clothes to simple overlays, Create-A-Sim has flourished with more options for your mystical and occult sims, especially those of the fairy or even the plantsim persuasion!
Ailments Overlays by j3lly-fish
With the sometimes controversial but ever-present ailments found in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, everyone playing with the pack has probably seen just about every possible illness and overlay. However, maybe you liked how one of them looked, especially on a color-coordinated fairy form! J3lly-fish provides a great option to diversify your sims’ skin details without the sniffles or fever that may come with actually carrying the ailment!
When Enchanted by Nature first got teasers and release trailers, I was so excited for the hooved feet options to lean more into the Satyr aesthetic we see in a lot of fairy and fae media. However, the actual feet in game were a little lackluster, especially since to look like hooved feet and not just strange shoes, your sims pants options were especially limited. With this set of seamless ones by SimmerSeria, your Satyr and goat-like fairies can now wear shorts and other short inseam clothing items!
Joliebean and Dogsill join forces for a spectacular set that is both fantastical and trendy. While the set features pieces made to pair well with the aesthetics and vibes of the Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, the pieces just fit into a relaxed but elegant look as well.
An equally beautiful set from Joliebean, the fairy princess set is a great option that was released quite a while ago, before fairies were even a twinkle in the eye of the Sims Team! The dress and shoes work together beautifully and the asymmetry makes it striking and original.
A bit of an oldie but a goodie, Nolan-Sims Simblreen set from almost three years ago fits into the aesthetic of this pack well, especially when you take into consideration that we did get a set of flower petal hats for toddlers and infants! Now parents can match their little ones, in a way!
Trillyke created beautiful little almond-shaped nails with shiny designs of butterfly wings, with tons of swatches! Any sim can have a fresh matching set, fairy or not!
This multi-piece set features a matching skirt and top, arm sleeves, shoes, a loose belt and arm cuff for a put-together look that can go from the fairy hub of Innisgreen to the karaoke bars of San Myshuno!
On the softer side, this matching set is cutesy and all put-together, with tons of swatches to mix and match to fit just about any sim looking for a frilly tutu and chunky mary janes!
You can either have one accessory earing or a matching set of wings with Trillyke’s new set, fit for just about any occasion where a pop of color is needed!
Although little ones don’t show off their fairy traits until they hit their teen years, you can still dress them in the sweetest little outfits to show off their more magical and whimsical side!
Now, if you’re feeling like your plantsims need something more, Plantainboat has created many sets of accessories, genetics, skin details, and so much more to give them something besides plain green skin and the same base game green hair. These “horns” can prop up like strong feathered leaves, flop down like the supple ears of a bunny, or stand like true horns. They come in a wide array of colors so your plant sims can pull inspiration from real world plants, or any real world inspiration you’d like!
An adorable little antennae-like flower sprouts from your sims head, and can either be plain, pride-inspired, eye-like, or have a teeny skull dotted in the middle! Whatever fits your sim and their style!
The eyebrows and color schemes that come with this set excited me so much, and Plantainboat did a beautiful job on the textures. They’re smooth and they fit so well with other Maxis Match CC and Base Game items.
This specific set really got me pumped because the leafy tattoos remind me so much of the original Sims 2 Plantsims, with swirly leaves that can fit almost any skin tone or complexion, and with light color dustings on the hands and feet or not!
Need more decor and functional items! So many creators have built beautiful sets of decorations or entire room sets that fit almost seamlessly with The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature!
Fairylicious Set by Felixandre & The Clutter Cat
The lack of items for child sims and younger broke my heart when The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature came out, but Felixandre and The Clutter Cat partnered up for the sweetest child’s room set, with plushies, a cardboard playhouse castle, and even a little desk set with a unicorn chair!
Jellypawss set includes an adorable crib and froggy chair, with tons of decoration that can work in just about any room! The moss-like couch fits right in with the decorations from the pack itself!
Playing with fairies in Sulani and looking for something that goes well with the golden sand and volcanic rock? Lumenniveus created a quaint home for your tropical fae friends, made out of a clam and decorated with tropical leaves and flowers, all propped up on a dark volcanic stone chunk.
Fairy Energy Drink: Liquid Fairy Dust Tray by Lumenniveus
Another piece from Lumenniveus is a quick fix for your sims struggling to keep their emotional energy up! Functioning similar to the hot cocoa trays and outdoor drink trays, these work as a little pick-me-up or as an elegant party drink for your next fairy soiree!
This fairy house set by Severinka_ fits well into the hobbit-style homes we’ve seen built since the packs release, and it also can be worked into both Maxis-Match and Alpha CC-based games, making it almost universal depending on your playstyle!
These adorable mushrooms can be placed inside or outside, and sized up or down to fit your needs! While they fit great into Innisgreen, I also think they’d look adorable in a custom build on the Sylvan Glade hidden lot!
Your Naturopath need more mysterious bottles, tinctures, and potions to decorate their stand or workshop? These little pieces by DanSimsFantasy are both mystical and they light up, adding just a tad more detail and subtle glow to your sims ailment-curing work!
Leaning a bit more into the Alpha style, Mini Simmer has a cute little set of rustic and somewhat farmhouse-like fairy items that blend well with nature, including the sweetest little rocking chair! (Personally, my favorite is the mushroom candle!)
Have you found any hidden gem sets or pieces that have changed how you play The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature? Make sure to keep an eye on The Sims Community for more custom content recommendations, for The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature and beyond!

How Has Apothecary In The Sims Evolved from The Sims Medieval to The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature?
A recent online resurgence of The Sims Medieval, paired with the release of The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, has us thinking– how has Apothecary in The Sims evolved over the years? We’ve done some digging, and, of course, some playing, so keep reading to learn more about how the Apothecary specialty has changed throughout The Sims universe.
Table of Contents
The Sims Medieval is a Spin-Off, drawing from essential The Sims 3 mechanics. In the game, you play as multiple Sims with various hero specialties, such as Wizard, Apothecary, and Monarch, which you use to complete quests and achieve ambitions. In this world, your Sims rely on Apothecaries to craft cures for illnesses, wounds, and more. The Apothecary skill is reintroduced in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, bringing back the ability to create natural remedies for your community.
The Apothecary, Naturopath, and Doctor Careers
Apothecary Career
Apothecary heroes in The Sims Medievalare referred to as Bloodletters. As a Bloodletter, your Sim relies on the Physician skill and is responsible for gathering ingredients to Craft Cures, Healing Sick and Injured Sims, Applying First Aid, Diagnosing Illnesses, and Researching unidentified illnesses to protect the townsfolk and the kingdom. Of course, they can always choose to be a little malicious along the way.
In addition to solving illnesses of the body, Apothecaries in The Sims Medieval are often asked for help curing ailments of the heart and mind.
Naturopath Career
In the newer generation of The Sims games, The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature borrows from this gameplay and introduces the Naturopath career. The Naturopath career is a semi-active career with an in-office, work-from-home, and a rabbit hole option for scheduled work hours. Sims in this career are healers committed to crafting cures to ailments through natural and sustainable means, and will excel with the Natural Living and Apothecary skills.
Since this career is not a standard rabbit-hole career, your Sim can go out in the world to deliver Elixirs, or treat patients from the comfort of their home office. This resembles gameplay in The Sims Medieval, as Bloodletters need to venture around the open world of their kingdom to complete quest tasks.
Doctor Career
The Sims 4 Get to Work includes the classic Doctor career. This is an active career, letting you join your Sim at work to heal patients and rise through the ranks. This career is worth mentioning while we’re on the topic of Apothecary in The Sims, mostly because of the surgery aspect. Bloodletters heal injured Sims by performing surgery on the Operating Table, and can fail similarly to Doctors in The Sims 4.
Ailments and Wounds
Apothecary in The Sims adds ailments and wounds to the list of risks your Sim could encounter in The Sims Medieval and The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature. Ailments and illnesses can be contracted by interacting with a sick Sim, being cursed or placed under a spell, ignoring Needs, and more. In both of The Sims games, these ailments can negatively impact moods and career performance.
Apothecaries in The Sims Medieval are at the forefront of medical experimentation and creation, so they often spend their time researching these new illnesses and testing various recipes to craft Tonics that are the first of their kind. In The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, Apothecaries combat known ailments through tried and true recipes.
Wounds are specific to The Sims Medieval. Interactions with the Pit Beast and tussles with Guildsmen are just some of the ways your Sim can get injured in the medieval world. These wounds range from Minor, Moderate, Major, and Extreme and require a Salve or surgery from a Bloodletter to heal.
Your Sim will need to gather Leeches from the local river to Stock their Operating Table and perform surgery. This interaction is more interactive than Apothecary gameplay in The Sims 4 because you need to carefully apply and remove the Leeches at the right point before being able to administer medication and successfully complete the surgery.
Elixirs and Potions
Elixirs and Potions can be crafted in both The Sims Medieval and The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature for reasons other than aiding the ill and wounded. In The Sims 4, Apothecaries can craft helpful Elixirs, such as Hooked on Nature, and harmful Elixirs, such as Noxious Gas. These can be gifted to other Sims to mischievously ruin their day.
Apothecaries in The Sims Medieval can craft their own helpful Tonics and Potions, such as Mouthwash and a Fireproofing Potion, to give to other Sims or sell. They can also craft harmful creations, such as Sleeping Draught and Monarch’s Poison.
Aside from being able to craft these Tonics and Potions, Apothecaries in The Sims Medieval can use their Tonics to tamper with the town’s water supply at the well, for better or for worse!
Apothecary in The Sims: Compare & Contrast
It might seem like Apothecaries in The Sims Medieval have a more detailed gameplay than the Apothecaries introduced by The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature; however, that may just be due to the open world map of the kingdom and the quests your Sim has to complete. If you look closely, you’ll notice Apothecary in The Sims hasn’t evolved very much.
Daily Life of an Apothecary in The Sims
The Sims of the medieval world treated their careers as their true passions, letting them creep into every aspect of their lives. In The Sims Medieval, Apothecaries often spent hours researching illnesses and wounds and traveling around the kingdom to collect rare ingredients and hand-deliver precious cures. Apothecaries ran their businesses from home and made house calls as needed.
In the modern world of The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, life as an Apothecary is pretty similar. Apothecaries can choose where they conduct business, rely on Foraging for their apothecary ingredients, and often bring their cures directly to their patients.
I feel the difference here comes from the lack of variety across The Sims 4 DLCs in general, making The Sims Medieval shine in comparison as an isolated game. In The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, the addition of the Apothecary skill and the Naturopath career simply feels like any other career or skill added to the game. Many of the animations seem to be reused from the Doctor career, and the Elixirs are similar to the Potions Spellcasters use in The Sims 4: Realms of Magic. This takes some of the excitement out of the Apothecary skill.
Luck and Balance
An interesting feature of both games is Luck and Balance. Luck in The Sims Medieval is determined by your Sims’ mood, quest and quest task progression, daily task progressions, personality traits, and any illnesses or wounds they may have. Having good luck will positively impact certain interactions, increasing the odds of successfully crafting a Tonic or discovering herbs, while bad luck will have the opposite affect. This feature is pretty straightforward and easy to acclimate to as you play the game.
In The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature, the Luck and Balance system has seemed to evolve to be overly sensitive and, in my opinion, adds confusion to the Simology panel. Many Simmers have reported their Sims constantly struggling with bad luck, making for a frustrating gaming experience. Thankfully, this can be disabled through Game Options.
Looking back at its creation in 2011 and its reintroduction in 2025, Apothecary in The Sims has been an ancillary feature used to further stories and cause havoc. But has it truly changed at all? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
