Hello everyone! SimGuruRomeo here to give you a quick look at basements in The Sims 4, part of a free update releasing on March 26. When we started working on basements we wanted to make sure they were special. These aren’t just any basements, these are The Sims 4 basements. That means maintaining the flexibility of game’s building systems. We wanted basements to really take advantage of the tools you already know how to use, and to allow the same level of creativity we’ve seen since launch.
Using the new basement tool, you’re able to draw a basement from the floor above easily. Once it’s there, you can begin building with all of the normal build tools, making just about anything you can think of. We’ve had a lot of fun in the past few weeks building different things using the new basements and The Sims 4’s creative tools.
What makes them so great? Well…
You can build them two levels deep. If you’re not content with simply one level of underground housing, we have you covered. You’re able to build a second level underground as well. This, mixed with the addition of one more floor above ground that’s being added with this free update, brings the new total house size to six floors – double what it was before!
You can delete their ceilings. After you build a basement (or two) you can select the basement block, navigate to ground level, click the yellow highlighted area, and completely remove the ceiling. We’ve had a ton of fun creating everything from underground bunkers to open-air houses that look like giant holes in the ground.
You can put pools in the basements. Who hasn’t wanted to drop into their personal basement pool for a midnight swim? But basements can be even cooler than that. Besides being able to create pools in basements, you’re also able to build pools adjacent to basements. That means a pool can be right up against the side of a basement, and if you make the pool’s walls out of glass, you’re basically making a giant human fish tank.
You can make your Retail Business even weirder. So, you’ve built a fun bakery in The Sims 4 Get to Work* using the new retail system. Awesome! Good work! But what if you wanted to expand your business? You could always build a shop in your basement, too, selling anything from toilets to… alternative clothing.
Excited? You won’t have to wait long to build your own basements. They’re available in a patch rolling out, for free, to all users on March 26 in anticipation for next week’s launch of The Sims 4 Get to Work.

In The Sims 4, we were impressed with Sims’ wide breadth of emotions and their newfound ability to multitask, but we admitted in our review that the base game was (unsurprisingly) “barren” of content, readying itself for countless expansion packs to come. Between then and now, EA has countered this by releasing staggered online updates containing new features, and in January the game received its first, camping-themed ‘Game Pack’ – add-on content that offered a bit more extra gameplay than any of The Sims 3’s numerous Stuff Packs.
Firstly, I gave the new careers a whirl, curious to see how EA had tackled the concept of playable work venues. When it comes to work time, following your Sim to work is only an option – you never have to tag along with him or her if you simply don’t feel like it – but it’s a great break from day-to-day Sim life. Workdays play out in their own separate lots as a sort of nonlinear minigame, where you’ll have Sims perform small tasks towards a larger objective – for instance, a doctor may be tasked with putting a patient through a battery of tests in order to diagnose and cure them. The jobs aren’t always thrilling, like a detective’s occasional snoozy day of patrolling the streets and issuing tickets to litterbugs.

Hey everyone, it’s Zerbu! Today I bring you six new traits for The Sims 4.

Boring
These Sims barely need any Fun, but they build relationships very slowly and can never be Playful.
Collector
These Sims love to explore the world and collect stuff, which sways them into all sorts of emotions.
(Whenever a Collector picks up a collectible, they will receive a random Moodlet, each with its own effects as well as increasing an emotion)
Crazy Party Sim
These Sims are Playful by default and build relationships faster, but their Fun needs decay at double the speed and they tend to get headaches when forced to be Focused.
(When a Crazy Party Sim is “Focused”, they have a chance of getting the “Headache” Moodlet which may switch them to “Uncomfortable”; whether they switch or not, their Mental skills will increase slower when they have this Moodlet)
Fast
These Sims are able to craft objects at twice the speed, but can never be Focused and tire faster.
Inconsistent
These Sims tend to become very serious or very playful at unpredictable moments.
(Inconsistent Sims randomly get one of two random Moodlets at times, one which makes them playful and the other which makes them serious)
Swimmer
Not only do these Sims gain the “Relaxing Swim” Moodlet quicker, but it is stronger and Sims’ Fun needs will decay slower while they have it. The “Splashy Fun” Moodlet is also stronger.

We brought this modern living set we created a few months ago originally for Sims3. It has 12 pieces, mostly with 3 colors variations.
To place loveseat and sofa nearby as shown in pictures, you should use bb.moveobjects cheat. However, both sofa and loveseat work properly as they should.

During The Sims 4 Get to Work Preview Event in Poland, DOTSim found out that upcoming Game Pack and Stuff Pack releasements are going to be Digital only (just like The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat is), which means that you’ll only be able to make a Game/Stuff Pack purchase via Origin or another Online Store (such as Amazon).
Here’s a full statement by DOTSim:
At the GTW Event at EA Poland, we had a quick presentation about The Sims 4 and future expansions. Head of polish Sims team told us, that Game Packs and Stuff Packs are going to be available only via Origin, but they are working to put some of the titles into boxes. She also told us that EA wants to improve Origin payment options, so that it will be available for more fans (Not only paying by PaySafeCard or another card)

Here’s a conversion of the Sims 3 chopper motorcycle ‘The Beast’, from the Ambitions expansion pack. I originally intended to just make it as deco, but decided it would be nice if it could be some sort of functional item. So I cloned it as a bar stool and re-rigged the foot positions to fit the motorbike. If we ever get vehicles, I’ll try to make it driveable, but for now we can at least use it as an item for storytelling.
