Sims Community’s Year in a Post

0

New Year is just 3 days away and I really wanted to make a post to show my gratitude for amazing 7 months I spent with you Simmers this year.

It all started on 21st of May when I bought the server for Sims Community. I had absolutely no idea which theme should I choose for this site since all of them were somehow ”basic”. I really wanted to make it stand out from other Sims Fansites because I never liked the ”All news on the front page” design.

I found a theme called Minimatica. It’s purpose was to show off other people’s photography and design skill. I really wanted to give it a try since for some reason I loved the theme.

After several days the process of re-furbishing our site was over, and this was the final result:

981872_533580870033824_1683194772_o

To me, it looked perfectly fine, but to others it was a disaster. I took some feedback from my friends and Simmers and after 2-3 months of Sims Community going live this is how it looked:

1064918_550317765026801_428404332_o

Well, that’s enough of Sims Community’s History. Let’s talk about what we have now:

We temporarily updated the design of our site to celebrate the coming of 2014. The background is showing all important Announcements/Releasements that were made in 2013.

CaptureI want to thank Digitto, DOTSim and Sims True Life for supporting my site – this site wouldn’t be where it is today without them!

Also, I really want to thank all my friends on Twitter and Facebook for supporting our site.

And last, but not least, I want to thank my followers on all Social Networks that read and like our posts and pages. This site wouldn’t exist without them!

What we have in plan for 2014?

First Issue of our Magazine is supposed to release in January. With some help of our Co-Directors and Simmers who are ready to share their stories, the creating of this Magazine won’t be hard at all.

The Sims 4 is releasing in Fall/Autumn. With that being said, we think that Simmers and us will have enough time to make a huge jump from The Sims 3 to The Sims 4. Some of them will refuse to make that jump, but we’ll still be posting The Sims 3 News and Guides.

Who knows what other news will happen in 2014? I guess it’s up to us to wait and find out…

Happy New Year from Sims Community Team!

– Leighanne Coxall, Jovan Jović

The Sims 4 Possible Concept Arts

12

Tony Ianiro, Concept Artist and Visual Developer for The Sims 4, published some interesting artwork in his portofolio. We don’t say that this is The Sims 4 Concept Art, but if you take a close look, these concept arts have Art Style that reminds me a lot to The Sims 4.

Update: Tony privated his portofolio that included possible concept arts for The Sims 4!

Tony Ianiro:

• Created full environment paintings using Maya and Photoshop.
• Created stylized concept art of houses (exterior and interior walls, floors and portals designs), world objects, interior objects and vehicles for in house and outsourcing.
• Hand painting textures in Photoshop CS5 and helped to create the overall “look” of the game
• Collaborated with designers, world builders, 3D artists to create environments
• Helped teach other concept artists on the team how to create accurate drawings and designs for architecture using Maya and Photoshop.

Update: Honeywell’s Sims 4 blog and a Mod The Sims Member pointed out the fact that the OFFICIAL concept art of the Cupcake Machine has the same font and layout as the riverboat concept art.

Woodworking is a confirmed skill for The Sims 4. Take a look at this possible concept art of the Wood work table.

Also, if you take a close look to some of the Concept Art of Houses, you’ll notice that they look a lot like houses from the leaked UI Screen of The Sims 4. Coincidence? You decide!

ANNOUNCING: Sims Community Magazine!

0

magazinelogotransparent

I’m happy to announce our latest project that’s currently in development – Sims Community Magazine! In the last month we’ve been working really hard to create just a concept of this Magazine. My biggest task was to make it unique, which means it had to stand out from The Sims Official Magazine.

This Magazine won’t be made by just 1-2 people. It’s task is to show how other Simmers think about a certain aspect of this Community or about a certain aspect of Sims. That’s where you come along. If you want to participate in this Magazine, you’ll need to create and tell various stories and moments from both Real Life and Sims.

Sections for Sims Community Magazine will be announced on 29th of December. After they’re announced, you can e-mail us with your reportage for a section you’d like to participate in.

Right now, I’m looking for 1-2 people (Co-Directors) that are willing to help me out with the general concept of this magazine.

Co-Director Requirements:

  • Good English Language Knowledge
  • Creativity
  • In this Community for at least 1 year

If you want to become a Co-Director, send us your application on our e-mail: contactsimscommunity@gmail.com with a few sentences on your skills and qualities.

And now, I’m proud to present the cover of our first Issue of our Magazine that will be releasing somewhere around January 2014. Please note that some sections and pictures may change on our final cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Sims Community Magazine?

A: Sims Community Magazine is a Magazine that helps to connect other Simmers around the world by working together and telling their Stories via both Sims Game and Real Life events.

Q: Is this Magazine only about The Sims/SimCity Franchise?

A: Nope. Although there are lots of Sims-related Sections, this Magazine will also include Sections and Articles that are related to Simmers and their preferences, what they like/dislike and some tips for them.

Q: Who can participate in the creating process of this Magazine?

A: Basically everyone who has the will and creativity for this task. All I require from Simmers who want to participate in this is to have some Basic Knowledge of English Language and a Sims Game installed.

Q: Is this Magazine free?

A: Absolutely! It will be viewable on our site + there will be a downloadable version of this Magazine. If you prefer physical magazines you can then always print it out.

Q: When will the first issue be released?

A: Probably somewhere in mid-January 2014.

Q: How often will new issues of this Magazine be released?

A: It all depends on how many Simmers want to participate in this project since I can’t do it all by myself. If a small amount of Simmers wants to join this project then new issues of this Magazine will be released every 2 Months, but if a lot of people want to participate, then you can expect new issue every Month!

NOTE: To clarify the ”participate in our Magazine” sentence, we mean that you send us your Screens/Text that are related to a certain Article. You won’t be writing the full Article, you will only be a part of it by sharing your interesting Story or Moment. Only 1-2 Co-Directors will help me out with the general concept of this Magazine.

Site Update: Assets Section is now Finished!

We’re happy to announce that our Assets section is now completely finished! We gathered all info, logo’s, boxarts, screens and more as much as we could find/get.

Site Update: Assets Section is now Finished!

It wasn’t an easy job to find and upload Assets for The Sims 1 Series, but it’s done. Some of The Sims 1 Expansion Pack Screens and Renders may seem exclusive to you since they aren’t findable on the internet. There are also some Concept Arts of The Sims Vacation that are worth of checking out.

Some Renders and logo’s are uploaded in .jpg Picture format because removing the white background takes a lot of work. If you need a certain Logo or Render in .png format without a white background, please send us an e-mail: contactsimscommunity@gmail.com.

As new games from Maxis/Electronic Arts (related to Simulation games) are announced, we’ll make new Asset pages for them.

The Sims & YouTube Content Claims

0

A lot of Simmers who make YouTube videos complained that their videos got taken down because of YouTube’s new policy change. This happens due to people using un-original music/sound effects that were not made by them.

The Sims Team is on their way to help Simmers who still can’t get their old videos back.

Here’s what SimGuruWeb said:

SimCity Update 9 Now Available

0

Below you can find the Update 9.0 release notes. The release date of Update 9.0 will take place on 12th December 2013 starting at 09:00am PST (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.ht…tenance&iso=20131212T09&p1=224). We expect to have the servers offline for a few hours to complete the update roll out on all servers.

Attractions set: Available to everyone, the Attractions set includes five attractions: Giant Garden Gnome, Dolly the Dinosaur, Llarry the Llama, MaxisMan Statue and the World’s Largest Ball of Twine. Each attraction adds happiness and will also act as a tourist destination in your city.
MegaTowers: Fixed issue where in some cases Sims in populous MegaTowers would not move efficiently between levels. This will address the issue some players have seen where apartment levels request shopping while mall levels request shoppers when there are enough shops and shoppers available in the MegaTower.
MegaTowers: Fixed an issue where Sims in Megatowers were sometimes complaining that there were not enough jobs when they were actually overworked on too many 24 hour shifts. Sims in this situation will now accurately inform players that they are overworked. The excess jobs require more workers to fulfill the needs of the work deficit.

Note: The issues the MegaTower updates address may be difficult to recover from within an affected city. If you chose to work through this period of time it may be a while before you experience the full changes. Alternatively, you can demolish MegaTowers within your city to take the changes straight away.

Maglev: Fixed some cases where Maglev trains would no longer run when many trains group together at the same station.
Maglev: All Sims that get on the Maglev will now reliably disembark when reaching their stop
New: Support for Mac trackpad, mouse, magic mouse support. Pinch to zoom, two finger scroll to pan the camera, two finger rotate to rotate the camera
New: Added Option for turning off motion blur. This gives you a more customized experience for better performance
MegaTowers: Tuned so that radiation has more of an impact on MegaTowers. Sim Feedback will alert to radiation causing a decrease in happiness
MegaTowers: Should no longer complain about the lack of shoppers and not enough places to shop at the same time.
Health: Sims will no longer complain about too many deaths after MediDrones are placed in the city and the deaths per day reads zero
Processor Factory: Fixed an issue where bypassing Medium Tech industry buildings and just having high tech industry buildings would would lead to the Processor Factory remaining locked
Mac: SimCity will correctly update when enough disc space has been made available
Mac: Fixed an issue where the ‘Disable Random Disasters’ would revert back to ON after restarting SimCity
Trading: Power, Water and Sewage services provided to neighbors will now generate income for the city providing the service
Trading: ControlNet services provided to neighbors will now generate income for the city providing the service
UI: Amount of Sewage treatment available in the region will be more accurately reflected
Sandbox: Demolishing or turning off prerequisite buildings in sandbox mode will no longer cause their corresponding modules to become locked for Academy, OmegaCo, and MegaTowers.
Graphics: Fixed issue where futurized planes would change to regular planes after landing
Random Disasters: Previously queued disasters will no longer occur after disabling them in the in game options.
Achievements: Regional achievements unlock more quickly when the correct criteria are met.
Launch Arcology: Fixed an issue where the Launch Arcology would not accept new colonists after being turned off and on.
Garbage: Fixed an issue where garbage trucks would go back to the depot at 6pm in densly populated cities even though there was still garbage to be collected
Streetcars: Addressed an issue where Streetcars would get stuck and group together
OmegaCo: Production of OmegaCo will no longer display as producing x out of 0 crates and drones
Graphics: Futurized bridges will appear futurized in region view

Graham Nardone about TS4: Motives are still an essential part of a Sim’s daily life

0

Many simmers gave a lot of questions about The Sims 4 – mostly about random deaths, motives and User Interface.

Graham answered some of those questions, and even confirmed that Motives are still an essential part of a Sim’s daily life.

Check out what he has to say by clicking the picture below!
