The Sims Team to reveal progress on The Sims 4 Pronouns Update in January

During the latest Inside Maxis Livestream the team touched on the Hot Topic of the Pronouns Update for The Sims 4. They revealed that they’ll be sharing information about the Pronouns Update progress during their first ever Inside Maxis Livestream for 2022!

This past May we opened up about our pursuit for non-binary language in The Sims. Since then we researched global language characteristics connected with consultants and collected data on areas where change may be needed.

Although there is a path ahead of us, before we’re able to update the game we’d like to give you a look behind the scenes and show you where we are in the process.

In January 2022 during the first Inside Maxis of the new year we’re hosting a fireside chat with members of our development team where we will share an update, including the research completed to date, more on our partnership with our external experts and the work-in-progress wireframes. Make sure to tune in!

That’s very interesting because I play with many sims that are non-binary or trans, and the game just doesn’t recognize them properly, especially in the Spanish-translated version that I play. Let’s see how this works worldwide.

Yeah I’m also curious how it would translate to other languages too.

The care Maxis is taking with this issue is commendable, and reassuring. A token fix is easy. Getting representation right is complicated, but ultimately will be the better outcome.
