What is Unpacking?
Unpacking is a game developed by Witch Beam and published by Humble Games. It originally released in November 2021, and is a well-known cozy puzzle game. The name Unpacking stems from the gameplay itself; Unpack a character’s belongings and their life, from a single bedroom to an entire home. Find where things truly fit and unravel a story as you do. You follow the same character through eight moves and eight major life changing points and start to really understand them, without ever seeing their face, reading their name, or hearing their story.
Unpacking is a zen game about the familiar experience of pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home. Part block-fitting puzzle, part home decoration, you are invited to create a satisfying living space while learning clues about the life youโre unpacking. Over the course of eight house moves, you are given a chance to experience a sense of intimacy with a character you never see and a story youโre never told.

Tim Dawson, Sanatana Mishra, and Jeff van Dyck first worked together at Sega Studios Australia. Tim and Sanatana left their jobs to pursue independent game development, they contacted Jeff for advice on audio design and he ended up joining the team. After shipping Assault Android Cactus, Wren Brier joined as a long term collaborator and the original creator of the teamโs second project, Unpacking.

Play Unpacking in Paralives!
Similarly to the previous collabs we saw earlier in Paralives Early Access period, your Paras Steam library just expanded a little more, with Paras now able to play Unpacking on any computer! This is alongside other games added from prior collaborations, including Among Us, Boyfriend Dungeon, Dwarf Fortress, and Outbound!
