ADVISORY: Gamers Mourn the Future of Gaming at EA’s Orlando Office

Orlando, FL โ€” Following the protest at EAโ€™s headquarters in Redwood City, CA demanding that federal regulators block the proposed EA buyout, gamers with the Players Alliance HQ will stage a funeral-themed rally at EAโ€™s Orlando office to mourn the studios, jobs, affordability, creative freedom, and inclusive games at risk if the deal is approved.

Gamers will gather outside EAโ€™s Orlando office dressed in funeral attire, with gravestones, a casket, flowers, cosplay, and umbrellas for a funeral procession. Participants will also display the 50-foot petition scroll signed by more than 70,000 gamers calling on regulators to block the deal.

The demonstration highlights the consequences gamers say will follow if the deal is approved. Gamers point to EAโ€™s history of studio closures, rising prices and the growing unaffordability of gaming, the increased use of AI to cut developer jobs, and concerns that the Saudi Public Investment Fundโ€™s proposed 93.4% ownership stake could give it unprecedented influence over creative decisions at one of the U.S.โ€™s largest gaming studios, including games like The Sims which have long been recognized for inclusive storytelling and representation.

WHAT: The Players Alliance HQ will stage a funeral-themed rally outside EA’s Orlando office to oppose the proposed EA buyout and urge federal regulators to block the deal.

WHO: Players Alliance HQ members, gamers, streamers, and content creators opposed to the proposed EA buyout.

WHEN: Saturday, June 13, 11 AM EST

WHERE: EA Orlando, 515 W Amelia St, Orlando, FL 32801

Darkening Demise

Oh great more performative stunts to stroke egos and will accomplish nothing in turn. Just what we need more of. Not Malcolm was right about The Sims community.

Truly, who cares about Sims 4 at this point? Just play Paralives, Inzoi, or an older Sims game, lol

y’all only talking much and do it for the clout. and hope this time I won’t see all those people who went there but still collaborating with EA anyway – like, seriously, pick your struggle because it’s really pathetic.
