Have your say in the latest official survey from EA!

Electronic Arts has published a new survey based on The Sims 4 Live Events and what you want to see more of them in the future. The survey has been quietly put up on the third page of The Sims 4 Main Menu ads, which leads you to the direct link with questions about the Live Events.

Let’s break down all the questions so you can prepare your input in the latest official survey!

Official The Sims 4 Live Events Survey from EA

Right off the bat you’ll be asked in the first question about your current understanding and experience with Sims 4 Live Events. Asking if you’ve completed at least 1 event quest from the latest Sims 4 Lost Legacies Event that passed 3 days ago.

Even if you said yes the second question will ask you about what made you not participate or complete the said live event. Ranging from technical issues to event preferences.

The next two questions focus more on the future of The Sims 4 Live Events. The third question prompts the user to indicate interest on different type of Events for The Sims 4. Including Login-based Events, Gameplay-based events, Content Specific Events and Narrative Events. The fourth question invites the player to vote on what would encourage them to participate more in the future, including:

  • More engaging theme
  • Better integration with core gameplay
  • Shorter time commitment
  • More frequent reminders / notifications
  • Better narrative / expanding on lore about specific Sims or Worlds
  • Social components
  • Clearer instructions / objectives
  • Better Rewards

Next several questions talk about the current state of The Sims 4 Live Events and the player’s satisfaction with them. Letting the player vote on reward motivation and comprehension, quality of Live Event features and experience rating.

Going back to the future again, you’ll be able to cast your vote on type of rewards you would like to see in future events. Including Build / Buy items, Recipes, CAS items, Character Traits and other suggestions.

And lastly, some general questions and input about The Sims 4 Live Events and interest in knowledge about other video game IP’s delivery of Live Events.

It would be great if they unlocked items from previous events.

I don’t find the events interesting because they’re task oriented checklists. Click this, watch this, read that. They don’t encourage us to explore the game’s systems, just fulfill checklists.

The console games and even the Stores spin offs got it right by using the game mechanics as goals to simulate drama.

We’re not getting expansion packs, but imagine if we were getting something themed around hobbies.

There could be five goals:

1. Gain a skill point in a creative skill.
2. Get Inspired.
3. Create a work of art (paintings, cooking, woodwork, books, whatever).
4. Sell three works of art.
5. Make 1,000 simoleons by selling art or performaning.

This is how aspirations used to work. They weren’t explicitly defined and players had to get creative to fulfill them. Open ended and player choice in how they pursue their goals. Thus, engagement is boosted. Players will probably stick around longer while playing to complete these goals as well.

Then, challenges can get harder and more involved but still open ended:
1. Declare a Sim your nemesis.
2. Sabotage your nemesis’ work.
3. Steal or Copy Your Nemesis’ work.
4. Sell Your nemesis’ work.

Then, make amends but still make it a challenge.

1. Have your Nemesis become your best friend.
2. Gift your best friend a work of art at a party.

Now, players have to figure out how to set up scenarios to actions these tasks.

Honestly, with the amount of effort it takes to make a new gameplay object or two, a trait, a lot trait and some throw away build buy items – across multiple events – just patch it into the game if the events aren’t going to be interesting.

I answered the survey and added in that I like events more than the marketplace that I won’t use. Two birds, one stone yk
