Update: The Sims Russia took the video down. It seems they published the video a bit too soon :-/
As many of you already know The Sims 4 Create-A-Sim Demo is in it’s testing phase and it has been sprinkled throughout the community through invitation or random materialization under “My Games” in your Origin client. Many of the testers have already populated the gallery with nearly 90 thousand households at the point of this posting. Wow!
This brings us to a new weekly feature titled, you guessed it, The Sims 4 Gallery Spotlight! That’s right! Every week I will feature 4 households that catch my eye on the gallery. Now, they aren’t just any old households, but ones that I feel utilize the full power and creativity of the community.
Now, without further delay (too late) feast your eyes upon this week’s picks!

Being a gal who grew up watching the original Disney movies, I couldn’t pass up this lovely household by JgRiot. Each Princess shown is unique and captures a bit of the Disney style. The household includes (L to R) : Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, Aurora, Snow White and Mulan. Look at the love that went into choosing each princess’ outfit to match their original dress! Very cute and worth a look.

Before making my selections today I sent out a tweet asking what kind of Sims you guys wanted showcased in my first piece. The response I got was Pretty and Unique, well, Just Fabulous falls into one of those categories for sure! I picked this Sim because she shows, without a doubt, what unique Sims you can make with the CAS Demo. She looks like the perfect sim for an Uglacy and c’mon she IS fabulous.

And this handsome fella is Mark Mohawk, which I think would be an interesting character to drop into my game. He seems to be a snappy dresser and has a passion for the color blue. What do you think? Too much? I’m thinking we might have just found Just Fabulous her knight in shining armor. 😉

Wow! This last post, well, it seems to by one of MY households. Imagine that! No, I’m not bragging or throwing shade. I’m throwing out a request, y’all. As you can see I re-created the beautiful Caliente sisters from The Sims 2, and what I want from you readers with the demo is to make your favorite or most hated legacy Sims-game family in the CAS Demo and upload it to the gallery. Just use #lovcat in the description on the household screen so I can find it and I’ll showcase one community-made family each week! You can re-create sims from The Sims 1, The Sims 2 or The Sims 3. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. 🙂
(This is a standing invitation and will continue on after the demo is released to the public, don’t worry.)
Well, that’s it for this week’s showcase. Comment below and let me know what you want to see for next week. Celebrity Sims? Some more Uglacy candidates or maybe even some hotties?
Take care!
Website named canyourunit.com just added The Sims 4 to their PC-test listing. If you’re not a tech junkie and you don’t know do you meet the minimum system requirements, this easy tool will let you know is your Computer ready or not for the game.
Follow these steps below to see is your PC capable of playing The Sims 4:
Step 1:
Enter canyourunit.com. From there, search for The Sims 4 and select ”Can You Run It” button.

Step 2:
Select Automatic Detection option. Please note that you’ll need Java in order for this site to scan your PC specs.
Step 3:
Allow Java to use the detection tool. This tool is virus free and won’t harm your Computer.

Step 4:
See does your Computer meet the minimal requirements. In my case, the processor was registered as a single-core processor even though it’s a 2x 2.90 GHz dual core processor. If you meet the same error, it’s ok as long as your processor has higher specs than 2x 1.80 GHz.
The Landgraabs are back, still living it up as the richest family and staking their claim in Oasis Springs. We’ve brought Malcolm back during those awful awkward teen years, complete with a dastardly snobby attitude. Though Geoffrey is trying his best to be the good natured father Malcolm needs, will Nancy’s scheming ways lead Malcolm down a darker path? Either way we’re sure this historic family will provide lots of fun and mischief in The Sims 4.
Then we have the Caliente household with our two favorite sisters Dina, Nina, and their mother, who has been re-imagined as the attractive and vivacious Katrina. Katrina has ignored her better judgment and let the infamous womanizer Don Lothario mooch his way into her house and quite possibly her heart. Don’s eyes are on Katrina for now, but how long will it be before Nina and Dina are lured in by his charm? Will Nina decide to steal Don away from her mother? Will Dina finally earn enough money to get her own place and get away from all the craziness? All we know is that it won’t be long before sparks start flying!
Johnny Zest is an ambitious new character we like to introduce. Disowned from the Landgraab family when he dropped out of school, he now hopes to find his own fame and fortune as a standup comedian. He’s learned the hard lesson that when the Landgraabs cut you off, they cut you off all the way! Living in a trailer, blessed with the Landgraab looks but without the name or the money; will he make it to the top to show mom and pop he had what it takes all along? We’ll leave the fate of this black sheep in your capable hands.
Finally we’ve got a new batch of youths known as the Roomies. Your typical sitcom setup with ‘J’ (Jameson) the body building hunk, Gavin the gentleman muser, Mitchell the couch potato bro, and Zoe, that girl next door who is actually right where she wants to be, having fun with the friend-zoned boys.
No matter which familiar face you play with, we are convinced this cast of characters will add a quirkiness to your game that only The Sims can bring!

With CAS Demo, or once TS4 launches, the most useful thing you can do is go on the forums, say what you like, what you don’t, and WHY!
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
If you give us the details on why it’s important to you, it helps us prioritize things to improve everything.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
You guys have no clue how much it amuses us that a large portion of our job is discussing peeing, death, and breast feeding.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
One of the things our focus testers found most amusing was our emotional tie ins to using the toilet. You never know what they’ll love.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
On The Sims 3, people loved the fact that Evil Sims could “Take Evil Shower.” So, we tried to find new ways to make you giggle.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
@Rudy8292 It’s not easy. They die easy in videos because it’s a video — we get to it quickly to cut to the chase.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
@Rudy8292 Your Sims only die if you deliberately want them to die. You have to be negligent. Our videos are often “sped up.”
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 25, 2014
@Rudy8292 Basically, you do some stuff, and when you get close to death, we tell you IF YOU DON’T STOP YOU WILL DIE SO STOP.

@tszcheetah Our community tends to use older computers. We have to support those to keep our customer base happy.

After announcing the last The Sims 3 Store Set (coming this August), SimGuruCopeland decided to make a blog post announcing that he’s leaving The Sims Team! He also mentioned that no one from The Sims 3 Store team will move to The Sims 4 Team.
Recently a friend and I were talking about a segment on NPR where they asked people to define their job in five words or less. For me it was simply, “Imagine fun and make it”. That’s what I have gotten to do every day on The Sims 3 Store and it has been amazing. But, after seven incredible years, it’s time for me to move on to the next great thing.
I’ve loved MAXIS games and the dream of a digital dollhouse called The Sims had me from day one. Like most of the Will Wright’s amazing sandbox games, it wasn’t about “what level you’re on” or “what your high score is”, it was about creative expression. The Sims and SimCity helped define the type of gamer I am and more importantly the game designer I have become. They helped infuse my passion for making genuinely entertaining and innovative gaming experiences and for that I’ll be forever thankful.
I’ve had so much fun working on this team and interacting with all of you. We have an amazing final release coming up in August (that we’ll be teasing until release day!), aptly named “Last Venue of Amore”. I hope you love it as much as we do.
It’s always brought up when you talk about any entry to the Sims series – through its 14-year history, people have taken great joy in… well, murdering their little computer people.
Ryan Vaughan, producer for The Sims 4, is acutely aware of this. “One of the things people always ask for is new ways to kill their Sims,” he laughed.
So that’s just what The Sims 4 introduces. The increased focus on the emotional states of your characters means there are more ways for them to pass away, like laughing themselves to death after a housemate sets a cupcake machine on fire, or getting so angry they pop their clogs on the spot.
“We didn’t just want to make a brand new way [to die]. We wanted to tie it to the core new simulation experience, with emotions and personalities and things like that,” Vaughan told Digital Spy.
“It seemed to fit really well that you could embarrass your Sim to death, or you could have them be so hysterical that they laugh to death. You even have the ability now to push your Sim into such a deep rage that they’ll keel over and die from anger.

— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@HowlRosh94 Your Sims need to have enough simoleons in order to place it and live in it. There’s no real world money involved.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@Libra_Style When you visit another lot there is a loading screen. You can go anywhere in the public space around the lots with no load.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@_LaurenHalley_ Think of them like the Lifetime Happiness points from Sims 3. You build them up to unlock rewards for your Sims.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@benenstein Fire can go up/down most foundation heights, but it won’t jump a full level from the 1st to 2nd floor.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@MrSomeWho A bubbly bright blue UI felt a bit outdated in 2014. It was time for a change to something a bit sleeker and modern.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@theBloomie Party gets used for Nightclubs, Lounges, in addition to most parties. Formal is for things like weddings and dinner parties.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@Nightvyxn It mostly means that in the time since E3 we’ve been focused solely on polishing the game to get it ready for September 2nd 🙂
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@benenstein It depends entirely on the length of the moodlet and if it remains the strongest one on the Sim. 5 mins, 5 hours, 5 days, etc.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 21, 2014
@Layara1980 They’re optional. You can place any chimney you want above a fireplace and smoke will come out of it when the fire is lit.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 21, 2014
@simsloverxx Children are part of the families that have a chance of being generated when new neighbors move into empty homes.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@SporeBySteve White = Fine. It’s a neutral emotion when Sims don’t have any moodlets on them.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@The_Sims4_Fan We’re trying to get info on the system requirements out soon; I’ll make some noise on twitter when they’re released.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@TaylorAGalante Yup. There are a variety of aging options for your current household, for other households you’ve played, and for NPC Sims.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@JohnBigOz If you get another Sim in the neighborhood pregnant, they’ll give birth eventually without you having to play as them.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@SporeBySteve Yellow represents the Embarrassed emotion.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@kikinekosenpai It changes color according to the Sim’s needs, not their current emotion.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@IoanLewis1 Downloading things like homes/rooms from the Gallery costs your Sim’s their simoleons; not real world money.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 23, 2014
@kortlontje I believe those will be released soon.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@Sims4web @TheSims @SimGuruGraham @SimGuruSarah @SimGuruJill There are not. Still, Vampires make for great jokes.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@Chelle_Sims24 @Simvibesss That water is from watering the plant. There is no weather in The Sims 4.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@theBloomie @SimGuruGraham Graham answered it, but also, we let you define it as well. You can pick any outfit for any category.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@xchromaggiasims Pay the bills? All is good again. Don’t pay the bills? Well, it’s difficult to live.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@TrineLiseGunder There are different lot sizes. We also have need bars.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 21, 2014
@BagasN7 @SimGuruGraham @SimGuruLyndsay Traveling between neighborhoods is a loading screen, so no animation.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
@djeranotjuh @SimGuruGraham In your current neighborhood, yes.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
The story I’m telling right now is of 3 tech entrepreneurs. They designed a rather spartan compound. But soon! Riches! Or…failure?
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
@GabrielFoss The public lots are auto-cleaned.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
@_Alethia Sims have Babies, who grow into children, teens, young adults, adults, and elders.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
@AquaThe_simmer Right now, without toddlers, that doesn’t exist. Babies age to children. Children can walk.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 23, 2014
Tech Compound is going well. Harry finished his rocket and is about to do some exploration. Gina completed her first Aspiration.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 24, 2014
And for some reason, Nikolai is really into crafting furniture now.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 24, 2014
@SimnationBlog No, there will not be ice cream vans or food stands.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 24, 2014
@SimnationBlog It ties into Handiness.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 24, 2014
@smagazineofcl You can see 1 world map at a time, but you can seamlessly move map to map with a button for each world (no load between maps)
— Sarah Holding (@SimGuruSarah) July 23, 2014
@Mattrio23 We do have a collection of MySims statues you can to find and collect in The Sims 4, so be on the look out for familiar friends!
— Sarah Holding (@SimGuruSarah) July 23, 2014
@smagazineofcl You can only have one lot loaded at a time, but you can play your household Sims on more than one lot and switch between them
— Sarah Holding (@SimGuruSarah) July 23, 2014
@smagazineofcl No, you can only have one home lot for your active household. But you can have Sims visiting NPCs or saved on a venue.

SimGuruLyndsay recently said on Twitter that she’s locking down the System Requirements for The Sims 4! This means that the game is in the final stage of testing.
We wanted to make sure that The Sims Team is still standing by their statement that The Sims 4 will run better on Low-End Computers than The Sims 3, so we asked Lyndsay on Twitter. Her answer was quite promising:
@PaulinaKlepacka When we design the games, we look at our content throughout our history.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@SamWitts2 Ask me in a month. We’re finishing this one and under a lot of pressure, so today, RIGHT NOW, it’s less fun. — Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@Michael05849757 Aspirations are rewarded with Traits and some one time benefits. There are TONS of reward objects elsewhere.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
Some of you may already know this, but one of my favorite changes in The Sims 4 is how bill delinquency works. We shut off your power. — Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
And if you keep not paying, things get worse. It’s hilarious to me.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@swwSims Also, it’s FAR simpler. The repo man never really worked and was crazy expensive to fix. Shutting off the power? Way better. — Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@Bet4chan We do not have the repo man, no. We didn’t really think he added much to the game. Shutting off power? Way funnier.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
Here’s a hint on how things get worse: things will get crappy. — Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@swwSims We have one that reduces your bills in TS4. @SimGuruGraham is a total jerk with bills in TS4. Watch out for it.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) July 18, 2014
@DebraHipskind You can’t move Sims around using WASD. You click on objects you want them to use, or on the ground where you want them to go.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@TrueS1mm3r I’m pretty sure there’s a blog going up that talks more about the fiction of the families in the world; wait for that 🙂 — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@Alourra1289 There’s a household inventory. Objects go there when you drop down stuff that requires removing objects that were in the way.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@rsdworker @ZerbuTabek Age bar, the Sim’s traits, the Sim’s stats, etc. — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@KellVeh Showing the fire and the new emotional death was an important part of our E3 demo, so we tuned it to happen quickly every time.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
.@ashsmashreed Oh yeah – @GamesRadar were the first ones to see our world map 🙂 Definitely a step up over what we had in the E3 build! — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
.@shark5432 There are a variety of ways to travel – map, phone, clicking on another lot that you see, going home, going to work/school, etc.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
.@shark5432 Depending how you travel you’ll see Sims walk off the lot or out of the neighborhood. They don’t all instantly start loading. — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@KellVeh Oh yeah, plenty of cupcakes 🙂 Thank @SimGuruAzure for that!
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
.@shark5432 The 3 clouds floating over the Sim’s bust are their current whims to accomplish. One whim is always based on the Sim’s emotion. — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@GorjanIvanovski You don’t schedule parties in advance any more. They start once you call other Sims to come over to your party.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
.@shark5432 There’s a small X button when hovering over each whim if you want to remove a current whim and get a new one. — Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@ReviewerNoah The colored ones indicate the emotion that generated the whim.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
Most of the Sims at the party panicked and ran out of the house due to the fire 🙂 We wanted our Sims to quickly show off the new emotional deaths during the E3 demo though; normally they’d prioritize the fire in that situation.
@OneiricNotes Yes, I turned off autonomy for my Sims. I’m a micromanager; I like having total control over what they do and when they do it.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@PattonKieran With stairs 🙂 Just something silly for the demo so that I would have better camera angles.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@doobAndy You can switch between households in any world at any time – it’s very fluid for whatever you want to play at any given moment.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@Divine_James Off to the household inventory! You can then pull it back out and place it elsewhere.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@djeranotjuh Yup, you can pull the width of the stairs the same way you do with rooms.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@ReviewerNoah There’s actually a button there now that goes back to the previous menu. Similar to “More Choices” at the top of the pie menu.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 19, 2014
@hrtarki Ohh, that thing. That shows you your relationship with whoever you’re talking to as well as their current emotion.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@zelda5820 @SimGuruRyan You can visit the home of any other Sim whenever you like.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@sharkloverplaye No. You can completely ignore the auto save – it runs innocuously in the background and will just be there if you need it.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
@NicyPrior Yup. You can move between neighborhoods and full worlds without starting a new game or losing a thing.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) July 20, 2014
