The Sims 4 Snowy Escape is introducing Sentiments and Lifestyles

TS4 EP10 REVEAL INGAME EN US 318

One of the features that Simmers have been wanting for a very long time in The Sims 4 is a revamp of Sims’ personalities and relationships, and it seems that with the announcement of Snowy Escape we’re getting all that and more!

With the announcement of The Sims 4 Snowy Escape the Key Features and an official Press Release mentioned that this Expansion Pack is introducing Lifestyles and Sentiments. Although it’s not known will this be patched into The Sims 4 Base Game or will it be a feature exclusively coming with Snowy Escape, it’s cool knowing that Sims will now have much bigger personalities that will let them to stand apart.

Here’s what was mentioned in the press release:

The Sims 4 Snowy Escape also introduces Lifestyles and Sentiments features, adding more depth to Sims’ personalities and relationships. For the first time, up to 16 Lifestyles will manifest in response to a Sim’s actions and habits, changing their behaviors significantly more than Create a Sim traits as they reflect a Sim’s lived experiences. Sentiments represent how two Sims can feel differently about the outcome of a shared experience and have a lasting impact on Sims’ relationships to each other, affecting their social interactions.

Lifestyles manifest in response to your Sim’s actions and habits, changing their behaviors appropriately. Shared experiences inspire Sentiments and have a lasting impact on Sims’ relationships to each other, affecting their social interactions.

We’ll keep you updated about this major new feature as the story develops!

Except people keep forgetting this is EA. The same company that pushed TS4 out the door long before it was ready and fully flushed because they wanted to make more money. Do you guys honestly think they are going to make anything at this point that can help the depth of play for the current game? Probably not since it’s already been out for well over 6 years now and they have been working on 5. What you are getting is more empty shells and personality that doesn’t really affect your sims in any meaningful way. They will be empty actions and randomly chosen actions based in code. Not based on your sims actual personality.

By now plenty of people understand how EA is or they don’t. I would expect the people who feel they understand EA and are that frustrated with them that they would’ve left TS4 by now and wait for TS5. I personally do not understand people who hang around when they clearly don’t get any joy from the game or news. Surely since with how old the game is that people that upset at EA would’ve left this game alone and news associated with it.

You’re explaining how literally every video game works. The behavior of video games, heck every piece of software, is based on programmed responses to inputs. This is like Intro to Programming I level stuff and I learned it by having a Korean professor shout “Computers are so stupid, they only do what they’re told!” Three times an hour, two days a week for 15 weeks. (In fact, it’s an open question in psychology and neurology whether humans are the same way but with vastly more complicated inputs and processing ability.)

And let’s face it, EA is pretty much hands off of The Sims other than cashing the checks. After their meddling destroyed SimCity they realized they couldn’t do the same thing to The Sims, which is one of their biggest cash cows.

Be skeptical. Wait until there is more gameplay from players online and then make an informed decision. New Lifestyles and Sentiments might fix the core issues with traits, whims, and aspirations….or they might exacerbate the problem and break the game even more than it already is. Either way…there’s always the sims 5 to be hopeful about. Remember, it’s not like the Sims Studio is incapable of making a great sims game. The sims 2 was a great game. The sims 3 was great too (if you could get past the lag). They might have missed the mark with the sims 4…but that doesn’t mean they won’t learn from this iteration of the franchise and possibly make things more superior with the sims 5. Simmers have already expressed that we’re even willing to wait an extra year or two just so they can get the sims 5 right. We know they rushed the sims 4 out before it was even finished. Hopefully, they’ve learned from all the mistakes they’ve made over the past 6 years. I’m hopeful….skeptical, but hopeful.

Thank you, I thought I was the only one who didn’t fall for this. Everyone jumping on the hype train at a few vague promises of things being different. People should wait, see what these features actually are, and then laugh at how shallow they are whilst we sit on our money and keep it ourselves because EA are hollow and full of promises that they never deliver on.

Maybe some will be base game like lot traits. But I believe platforms will likely be base game.

I think the build mode platforms will be a base game update. I personally don’t think they should make the new Lifestyles and Sentiments base game..I’m not a fan of introducing major game elements in a paid expansion only to turn around and give it everyone.

That’s a fair point. We already have people in their community who make paid items in the game BGC then get mad that other people try to make a little profit from making their own meshes. I don’t understand this entitlement for free things as if the game is dependent on custom content (and the rudeness some people have towards creators is sickening especially among creators themselves). I’m sure EA is more mad or concerned about the taking of their (EA) meshes and making them free or piracy than people making cash on the side with their hand made meshes. Gurus didn’t even care until people went to them whining (some of the same people who think saying horrible things to the guru is acceptable as the customer even though some of them pirate the game so their complaints are less meaningful to me compared to someone who actually had invested in the game financially). At the rate this crap in the community is going I won’t be surprised if EA reintroduces the sim store or try to make a profit by offering an alternative payout (instead of using Patreon) for creators since some people make it very obvious how they value custom content even those made for personal use or gifts by creators.
