The Sims 4 Maker Sets are already starting to sail the seven seas.
It’s only been 72 hours until the pirate community took the matter into their own hands and cracked The Sims 4 Marketplace.
What’s been known in The Sims 3 Store world as a “decrapified” package Store set is now also possible in the world of The Sims 4 Marketplace. We’re talking, of course, about illegally obtained versions of the Microtransaction sets.
Let’s see what this means for The Sims 4 Marketplace:
The Sims 4 Marketplace Is Cracked
Just two hours ago an announcement has been posted on a, what appears to be, a reputable Discord server. For legal reasons we won’t be linking any direct sources to this server, but we can show you what they’ve said about cracking up the Marketplace. Spoiler alert – not everything is available right away. And the person who did The Marketplace crack is asking for donations to release the entire thing – “because I invested around $100USD in cracking the full marketplace” they’ve stated.
Read the full message below:
I’ve been locked in for the last 72 hours, and I have some huge news: I’ve officially cracked the new Sims 4 Marketplace update. My goal is to make this content accessible to everyone eventually, but to keep this project sustainable, I’ve decided on a new release model that benefits the whole community:
THE WEEKLY DROPS
Starting now, I will release one free Marketplace kit every Thursday (between 16:00 and 18:00 CLT / GMT-3).
Why Thursday? So you can have everything ready and tested just in time for the weekend!
COMMUNITY QUEST: GLOBAL UNLOCK!
I know many of you want everything NOW —and that’s totally okay. That’s why I’m setting a Community Goal (because i invested around $100 USD in cracking the full marketplace):
I will release the FULL Marketplace for FREE immediately. No more waiting, no more weekly drops. Once the goal is met, the gates open for everyone, regardless of the day!
The first Marketplace Set that has been distributed out into the illegal streets is The Sims 4 Snazzy Living Room Set. “Fully cracked, tested, and ready for your game!” says the new Discord message. Providing a download link to a cracked .package file of the Set, possibly installing the same way as the decrapified sets for The Sims 3 Store.
EA currently hasn’t made any statements about the cracked versions of The Marketplace content for The Sims 4.
It was speculated in an Insider Rumor article last month that EA is “cracking down on piracy” with the attempts of releasing The Marketplace. But it took players less than a week to figure out how to distribute paid, Moola-exclusive content out for free. Illegally of course, which is why we don’t condone any of what was written about here.
I’ll leave this article with a quote from the great American poet and philosopher Sabrina Carpenter who stated the following:
Somewhere in the world, you got a robber and a bank And the bank robbed the people, so the people rob the bank And the police came to get him, but they let him get away ‘Cause they’re all just working to get paid the very same

One of my discord users made me knew about this! i loved the poem at the end of your article!
I made myself a poem that i tought it would be awesome to share with you!
Digital Culture was born to be shared,
but the big companies locked it away.
Piracy is just the human gesture
of ensuring that culture remains accessible to everyone,
and not only to those who can afford the luxury of paying.
And honestly, already having to spend $1.500 USD for a game that breaks all your mods and save files (that you had from years) is honestly such a stealth… and now you want us to spend $100 USD more in future furniture and CAS objects?
Defending people choosing to be greedier than EA to make EA content free for everyone earlier is actually worse than the usual early access but I forget that the sims community basically doesn’t care enough to change this since they haven’t been in any other gaming communities where the cc/mods are free and donations are optional not required to make things drop earlier
What are you talking about? How is the guy greedier for saying “hey, I spent $100 to make this free for everyone, I’m gonna do a timed released so I don’t feel used unless anyone WANTS to pitch in to help recoup my investment”. The donation is optional. You can also… just wait. You don’t have to pay him a cent.
That’s literally not greedy.
Greedy would be paywalled just like the uncracked content. And that’s not what’s happening at all.
No, apparently. Because what he asked for is the help recouping his investment. Everything will be released over time, eventually, unless someone wants to help donate money to cover what he put into doing this for everyone, where he’ll release it all at once when it no longer just feels like being taken advantage of for his generosity.
So no. We didn’t read the same article. You also don’t seem to know what a pay wall is.
They aren’t entitled to that money. The cracker really should look at what happens to pirates and leakers who are openly asking for money not optional donations.Someone can easily report the cracker to EA and they could sue similar to how a group of hackers for genshin impact got sued because they were found out via asking for money with a QR code on the website they had for it. Most people who go looking to preserve lost media don’t go demanding money. The cracker is only allowed to be greedy because this community has clearly forgotten what a village is. going on the digital seas is being apart of a village
^^^ this is exactly my point. saying “i cracked everything on the marketplace, but instead of releasing everything at once like a regular cracker, i’m doing weekly drops and if you want me to release everything, you have to pay me!” is really scummy behaviour, even for piracy standards.
I don’t want anything from the marketplace, even for free, but I suppose it’s nice for some. Next week’s patch and I’m out, already have all DLC, going offline, no more shitshow for me.
Of course, if you want to complain about something, do it with knowledge. And who said I don’t like the game? I mostly whine about Maxis’ incompetence and the state of the game. I think it is valid, especially if I spent more than 150,000 Moolas on this pos.
Just a friendly reminder that Maxis was gutted and flayed by EA to make a profit, they have basically no input in the actual state of the game anymore. For someone who claims to “complain with knowledge” that’s some pretty basic knowledge about the company that owns The Sims that you didn’t know.

I think this is wrong. If this was company fine!Your also robbing from the creators who worked on these sets.So your not just hurting Ea.Your hurting cc creators themselves.
Yes,I am for real. The cc creators created this content and get paid by revenue.Putting there work out its not just punishing ea.Its punishing the creators too.
Cry harder. Modding have always been free. Every single modder out there have learned from free tutorials and used free programs, otherwise they would have a company and they would pay their taxes and other costs what running a company needs. Also, haven’t you read Sims EULA? It says that modding and mods should always be free and the early access phase should be reasonable, not six months or even years! Those modders who ask for money and are keeping their mods behind paywall, break the rules set by EA. They have ruined the modding community by their greed and they should be punished harshly. They deserve nothing. Now, EA is abusing the modders and eventually players by encouraging monetizing modding. See those downvotes you’ve got. You’ve got them for a reason – You are part of the problem! And before you come up with some nonsense like “everyone desevers money for their hard work”. No one has ever told modder to create a mod. They’re not slaves. They’ve never been even hired to do something. They are all volunteers. And just so you know, I was one of the first modders who were modding Counter Strike before it was acquired by Valve and it became official mod for Half Life, so I can honestly say, I know my stuff and yes, you are part of the problem!
also almost no CC creators make a career out of it. many of them, even the big ones, have stated that they barely make anything out of it and that they have normal jobs in their lives too. i doubt the marketplace would give them the money to turn to CC-making full time. these sets are being sold for 2 to 5 dollars.
Monetizing mods is disgusting, actually. What’s next, demanding people to pay to read fanfiction because the authors worked hard on it? Imo it’s morally correct to deprive greedy modders from being able to profit from this hobby. And I’m saying this as a modder who’s modded for various games (including the Sims) for decades and who would NEVER ask for a single dime for any mod that I’ve ever published.
From what I’ve read, EA gets a cut of about 70% of the CC creators’ own work. Is that fair to you? You put in all the effort, and EA robs you blind with only a 30% return.
Patreon is so much of a better option for the creators it’s not even funny.
The argument is probably that they took part and enabled the marketplace. There are plenty of excellent creators who haven’t taken part and you can pay them directly. Infact the deal is better for them and you if you just go to their Patreon and subscribe to them. The marketplace does both the user and custom creators a disservice.
Yes and no. Because cc creators have been able to monetize their creations (in a much fairer way in terms of the amounts they receive, even) for many years now. Those who joined The Sims 4 Marketplace were already earning money for their creations through Patreon. But even so, they chose to join a company that, in addition to being greedy, is now governed by people and institutions that go against everything that most gamers stand for.
The person who is robbing them the most is EA itself. They take 70% of what is payed. Meaning for the 200 moola things, a creator only gets 0.60USD PLUS they can not release these sets anywhere else, like their patreon, where they would actually get a semi-livable contribution for their hard work.
So, taking this in good faith as someone who may actually be genuinely upset at the thought of creators being robbed blind, direct that anger at EA first and then go support the creators you like via other means because they will gain a lot more then they’d lose from this.

Its just not cool to take money from creators just because you hate change
Tell that to EA then, as they slap creators with a mere 30% cut when they are essentially giving them more Creator Kits with less supervising from EAxis while they shuffle more Maxis employees to work on Project X instesd of Sims 4. They are doing their work for them for pennies.
I’m sure they’re gonna miss their pennies at a time for how much EA gets in comparison to the creator. You wanna support them? Go to their patreons. The Marketplace isn’t supporting them at all.
lmao go back to making your mods with AI and stop stanning so hard for EA’s nuts. People tried to warn you that EA would fail with this greedy deal with the evil Saudi
You are making so many assumptions, that it would have been better if you had said absolutely nothing at all. Because thats in effects what occured. Great work.

Pirates, you’re disgusting. You’re just stealing someone else’s work and trying to romanticize your crime. But in reality, you’re just thieves. If EA is an evil corporation, then be honest with yourselves and just stop using their product what’s the problem? You’re just pathetic.
Agreed. People should just support creators on Patreon and boycott the Marketplace. If creators can thrive on Patreon, they won’t even need the Marketplace. EA takes a 70% from creators, but pirates just steal everything. I’m not defending EA; I’m speaking up for the creators. They bring so much creativity to this community, and they don’t deserve to be treated this way by either EA or the players.
The EA bots in the comment section are hard at work I see lmao.

I’ve read a lot of comments about how much console players are benefiting…not!
1) they have to pay for cc more than we, PC users are paying on Patreon to support one creator and get access to MUCH MORE content, so this argument in my view is not valid.
2) console cc is not released! so what’s the point in discussing it?
I am not buying also cc creators saying they will release mostly for console players…they do not have access to cc, lol. Maybe in months, but what has been released for now it’s for PC, so a bait? Not falling for it, thank you very much.

If we hate marketplace… it’s stupid want the sets, and more stupid it’s stole the work of cc creators that are part of the community of gamers. Greedy are now the players that want all. You can play without these sets, don’t touch on marketplace, send the message to EA and you can still buy cc from creator on patreon. It’s simple.
I’m totally against this! And show how no brain the community have!

I’m not holier than thou about it or anything, but I’ve never been down with pirating anything myself, however, when the money you would spend on something is going to go to Jared Kushner and a bloodthirsty regime of murderers then theft becomes the only honorable thing to do.
Not just honorable, but morally imperative. I wouldnt spend another dollar on an ea game. Ideally not playing it at all sends the strongest message however. And they are quickly making sure that everything they touch is garbage so leaving it becomes easier and easier for people each day.

I just can’t believe comments here. I feel likes it’s just a bunch of kids (what is the age average really… 12??) throwing insults and stupid repetitive comments about EA. I don’t care about that company’s wealth anymore than most of you do, but this is stealing from creators. I don’t understand how anyone can actually think it’s a good thing. Don’t buy it if you hate the marketplace that much (that’s what I do) but stealing it makes it even worse than that crappy decision EA made.

This may be an unpopular opinion to some, but if EA really wanted to have a positive impact, they’d go after all the CC creators who have Patreon sites who don’t follow EA’s TOS when it comes to pay sites. If the rule states that custom content should be released to the general population after a certain number of days, then that should apply to everyone. There are many creators who follow the rules, but unfortunately, there are many creators who never release their content, and it forever remains behind a paywall. The term “greed” can apply to many.
I bet the reason why EA hasn’t go after those abusers who are practically selling mods, are because they were just trying to find a way to monetize mods and make it look like they are also “supporting” modding.
Modding has always been free. All the modders have learned their stuff from free tutorials and from free tools. They’ve been the people who haven’t been abusing the players, but instead they’ve loved the game and have wanted to make it better for everyone.
But companies doesn’t care about that. They want to make everyone pay for mods so they can take the cut. It’s too bad that there are people who have no brains between their ears and they defend abusers that “modders need to get paid for their hard work”. No they don’t.
I have no problems if some modder creates a real company, makes a deal with the publisher or the company that they’re making official mods and then they pay taxes and other costs what running a company needs etc. Because that’s what actual work is. But I despise everyone, especially those, who “support” patreon modders and who think that is real work and they will die of starvation if they don’t get money asap.
Well, that was quick.
It seems that The Sims 4 Kits are returning to official Steam and EA App storefronts, per the latest leaked message.
EA Community M...
The Jasmine Collection and Tuds' Chrome Living hit The Sims 4 Marketplace.
The Sims 4 Marketplace has just been introduced to console players with the lates...

You’ve fallen deep down EA…
Deep deep down…
cracking dlc and then putting it behind a paywall. and ea is the bad guy?
he didn’t put it behind a paywall… what are you talking about? did you even read anything?
Its and it’ll be free for everybody
“And the person who did The Marketplace crack is asking for donations to release the entire thing” respectfully, are we reading the same article?
Um, chipping in “the whole world” for a cent at a TIME and getting $100 worth of content is not a paid subscription.

Just like The Sims 3 Store, people will find a way to combat the greed of EA. Nothing but praise for their hard work and dedication to making EA mad.
I’m not even sure that the team put a lot of effort on preventing that as well lol
I mean, that’s something to consider for sure, Maxis wants the Marketplace to flop
