Players are reporting that The Sims 4 Mods and CC have completely broken with the Latest Update.
Today’s update, March 17th 2026, has reportedly completely broken all CC and Mods for some players. The patch today introduced The Sims 4 Marketplace, a storefront in which users can purchase Creator-made sets using the new in-game currency ‘Moola’. Updates that make major changes to the framework of the game usually break mods, notably UI mods. It seems this time the issue is a little bigger than that!

Player Reports Of Broken Mods And CC
Over on The Sims’ official Discord, players have been reporting various errors when playing with Mods and CC. Some are saying both CC and Mods have broken, some are reporting that just Mods are broken.
The last time there was a mass-breaking of CC was with the tattoos patch that was released before The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies. Despite players removing CC and Mods before updating, their games are still broken, even when mods are enabled in the settings. Community Manager Shawnee is responding to player feedback in The Sims Discord server, even suggesting that it is good practice to disable mods before updating, despite that not being the issue.

Other players have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their issues with the latest patch. As of wrigting there are no official patch notes for the update, so it is unknown where the issue stems from; however, it is likely related to how Marketplace Sets and Kits are now downloaded from the in-game marketplace.

Create-A-Sim CC seems to be having issues deploying properly for those who can enter their game at all. This kind of issue is often caused by changes to meshes and textures.

Over on the official EA Forums, players have made reports and have received responses from staff that seem to indicate there is an error with.Package files, the file type that allows custom content and non-script mods to be read by the game.
Many .package mod files are not loading. Sorry, I don’t have more info than this right now. It seems likely that there’s an issue on the EA side. At the moment, please just hold off on trying to “fix” this yourself. It’s a good time to play mod-free or do something else. Modders are looking into at least finding a pattern to give you some helpful information, but it’s complex at the moment.

ARTICLE UPDATE #2: Another statement from The Sims Direct Team confirms that a Sims 4 Hotfix Update will begin to rollout “within the next 15 hours”:
Sul sul, we have a fix for the issue that was unintentionally impacting CC. This update will start rolling out roughly within the next 15 hours & we’ll confirm once it’s live. Thanks for your reports & patience while we worked to resolve this asap!
ARTICLE UPDATE: New statement has been released from The Sims Direct Team. Expect a new The Sims 4 Hotfix Update resolving the broken CC and Mods issue that surfaced with today’s game patch.
We’ve identified the cause of the issue impacting CC and Mods, and are now working on the fix and timing for its release. We know how important these are to how you play, and will continue to work on resolving this as a top priority. We’ll update you once we have more detailed timing for the fix.
The Sims Direct Team has addressed the issues with Sims 4 Mods and CC over on their X account, stating:
We’re investigating reports that some Mods & CC are not loading in The Sims 4. The team is actively looking into this now, & will share any updates to help you get back to using your favorite content as soon as possible.

Any insight in the missing pre made pets in Cats & Dogs and Horse Ranch when starting a new game? Also the missing only pets housholds like Captain Whitaker and Mayor Whiskers?
I put out any scripted, ui or gameplay mods but even though I still get a black screen main menu ):
yup my game broke had to uninstall all mods to get it to work but i havnt played it yet
How do I bypass the update to play still?
you just go to the ea app and do the settings and go offline or turn your wifi off on your computer
My game updated automatically and deleted half my mods + CC but it’s still showing up in my mods folder. I tried pulling them out of the folder and reinstalling but they’re still missing from my game.

That won’t fix anything. It’s a bug and they said they are working on a fix for it. Modders can’t do anything until EA fixes it.

Thank God I cancelled my update!! Thanks to Lot51 for suggesting NOT doing the update right as I started it. I’ll just wait until next month ugh

i havent updated yet thank god i didnt i still played this morning i just turned off the wifi on my computer and launched sims4 directly i bypassed the EA App i will play offline until its fixed
I have not experienced nothing like this before today’s update
this has become beyond a joke, each time i come to pick this game up again they’ve released an update that throws everything into the toilet in favour of some exciting new way to gouge us for more money… disgraceful.
I have no cc left in my game after last update….Mods are easy to fix with updates but when you have downloaded cc for your sims for years, hair, clothes, outfits etc. and I don’t have an overabundance of cc because I was picky and only downloaded ones that I truly liked. It all shows up in my box where you enable mods “on” under “other” in gameplay but nothing is showing. I can fix my game after updates, but this one really screwed it. If EA can’t fix this, I’m done with this game. I was in a legacy challenge and was on the 7th generation. Just not the same now, everyone looks different and hard to tell who is who cause they all look the same now. I always said I would always play the Sims4 but Inzoi is looking better and better.

Went in. Its ugly in there, Unsalvagable. Everything broken, gray llamas everywhere. Broken skin tones… its a mess. I moved the sims 4 icon somewhere I wouldnt have to look at it for now
Basically my whole game is broken, cell phones won’t even work, can’t place non CC items where CC items were, etc. I just started playing sims with mods a year ago so this is the first time I’ve ever seen an update cause such an issue
Ugh , guys I can’t take this game constantly being broken. With a heavy heart, I think it’s time to delete the sims 4 on my cp, to make space for the sims 3. This time I’ll be going offline. No more steam to launch. Tired of forced updates. And they’re not gonna fix anything knowing we’re still attached to that garbage.
