New The Sims 4 Update Release: Hotfix For A Hotfix (March 23rd, 2026)

The Sims Team delivers a second hotfix update, fixing the errors caused by the first update.

As revealed last Friday, a new Sims 4 Update is getting released to fix the crashing and launch game issues. Caused by two previous updates that were released this same month.

This hotfix for a hotfix solution is expected to improve stability of The Sims 4 and actually let you open the game, in case you’ve been using a set of different CC / Mod combinations before updating. To give credit to the latest announcement from The Sims Team, this issue only affected about 2% of the player base, according to their report.

Find out what’s been resolved and fixed in patch notes below:

With each patch and hotfix breaking more things every update, the rumor that they’re only doing all these bug fixes to reuse as much of the sims 4 for project x as possible becomes more and more comical.

When EA is ready to release project x the new bugs they keep introducing will just follow them into the new game lmao just leave the game be at this point

rachaeioul

still not working , the error box isn’t coming up but it’s not launching

Sam

You can launch TS4_Launcher_x64 instead of TS4_x64 which is what fixed it for me. All you have to do it open your file location to see the different options.

giu

maybe repair the game ? and then restart your computer and see if it works now if not then sorry 🙁 i guess u can go and complain on their official website e t c until they fix it again idk ( did u take out all ur mods , save files and tray ? )

Monet

Very passive aggressive language

Noname

Nah, I would say that language was quite active at this point 😀

Marty

People are always way too quick to call (passive) aggressive tone.

LOL the new game is trash

Jenn

I’m only still playing Sims 4 because Paralives isn’t out, and to give Inzoi more time to update the game. I’ve given up on Sims at this point. They did to it the same thing they did to SimCity, and I have no illusions about this game anymore. I will never buy another EA game in my life. Sad because I’ve been with The Sims since 2001. There is a chance with the new buyout that Maxis will break from EA, in which case, they may have a chance. Not holding my breath.

I have bought the vast majority of The Sims 4 DLC. I must not have only a dozen kits. I had to recourse to download an alternative version so I can finally opt out of these updates and the marketplace. It’s a sad state of affairs. Just release a Legacy version and let us be.

Goody

I just hope they release a band pack before everything ends. And if possible a vacation pack with real hotels.

trallalero

This update is meh — a few things aren’t working as they should. Skin, hair, and clothes change my Sim’s appearance. Hope it gets fixed.

Berri

This didn’t fix it for me I don’t think I use mods or CC? But I haven’t be able to launch the game for almost a week now!

holly webb

im forever on blue loading screen. im done with this. my mental health is getting worse with this crap. i play sims 4 to get away from my head. cause i have family and friends. this is too much to cope with/ i really want to throw towel in with all the pks

gos

new isues lol. it was working before but now when i try to play a household it refuses.

Deneka

Today’s update messed up my game…it will no longer load at all. I’m so upset!!!

Martha

2% the MAJORITY of PC players could not play. Stop with the passive aggressive comments and take accountability for messing up the game for MANY. I have played since the original sims and the sims 4 is literally never working properly.

Joan Mueller

My game would take several hours to actually save and exit after update before this obe

Jerica

So all my clothing mods and mcc mods work properly now

daluved1

Saying 2% of the player pool was effected is total BS. But alright. And even if it was just 2%, they still royally broke a functionality that had been working perfectly fine since the game launched 10+ years ago.

M M

it is also very very cowardly because 1. they are probably using the statistics of people who sent in formal bug reports which creates a statistical bias and 2. 2% is actually a HUGE amount. In 2024 they estimated that Sims 4 had 85 million players worldwide. If 2% of those people had issues, that’s still over a million people experiencing trouble. Using low statistical numbers in this way is a classic method of dismissing a large group of people.

Erik

In 2024 they estimated that Sims 4 had 85 million players worldwide”

Yeeeeaaaaah… That’s fudging things for their shareholders. It basically counts anyone who ever picked up the game (it was down to $5 or even free multiple times before going permanent free base game) as a “player.” If you have it on multiple platforms, like a PC player who added it to their PS4 library when it was free on PSN, you’re “two” players. And it doesn’t say *active* players. It’s very specific, very careful wording to try to paint a picture that’s not accurate but makes shareholders think the CEO is doing an amazing job and totally deserves a ton of bonus compensation.

Tracey

havent even bothered to update the second fix, rarely play the game now, it is a dumpster fire and is cooked. Went back years ago to TS2.

Lexii

“ To give credit to the latest announcement from The Sims Team, this issue only affected about 2% of the player base, according to their report” – a straight up lie I’m sure. A game breaking bug for even just 2% of your loyal customers is far too much. Bring on Paralives I’m so done with EA

Atreya

2% of players using specific types of custom content, under certain circumstances. This sounds as if they are downplaying the problem with a low percentage while at the same time blaming cc. Does this mean if this do they will just give up on a part of their player base?

BTW when I read online comments I think the amount of people who didn’t update their game until this is solved is at least the same amount as the people who can’t launch their game.

Alice

I cant even play the game rn. Everytime i load to my household the loading screen become frozen, i cant even quit the game using task manager.

Danae McClure

my game still won’t work with cc, ive tried updating, restarting, repairing, ive tried so much.

Jen

My EA app forced me to update and my sims are wearing their cc clothes but I can not see the cc in the catalog …
if you use a large amount of cc. Do not update. I have a bug report going on in The Sims 4 Mods & Custom Content | EA Forums

kirbystomp

Having the same problem with stuck on a loading screen all because I use mods and cc. This game is absolutely dog water without it.

shadow

“only 2% of players were affected” by your own fix for a fix for a broken update. That is not an achievement.

doodkebob

my game opens but the main menu is now black and i can’t click on anything

Magdas

Still not working. Game crashes everytime I load a save. I have tried EVERYTHING! Please fix this.
