Upcoming Paralives Update: New Features Preview

Improvements to indoor lighting and extra bed selection features are coming next week!

The Paralives indie development team has been hard at work to deliver the next Paralives Update, set for August 10th, 2026 release.

It was first teased last week that the upcoming update will feature visual quality improvements to babies and their body and face appearance. Making them look more like actual babies and less like tired, medieval-era adults.

But now, the team at Paralives Studio has released even more teasers for the upcoming update on August 10th, 2026, with new changes coming to the indoor lighting system AND the addition of a bed claiming system!

New Indoor Lighting System

The initial lighting system for ceiling lights, lamps, and other indoor lighting in Paralives has left many players wanting more, hoping for more control options or just overall better graphics. Lights were often too dim or too bright, and often cast harsh spotlights on walls rather than a soft, moody glow one would expect from lamps and sconces.

On August 4th, 2026, the Paralives Official X Account posted a teaser for this upcoming Paralives Update with a Patch 0.1.7 sneak peek, giving players a new look at the improved lighting system.

Instead of flashing insanely bright spotlights against the wall, lamp lighting has been toned down to provide a more seamless, warm, and soft glow like a lamp is intended to. Ceiling lights are also improved, lighting up more of the room instead of a single spot in the center, no longer requiring players to place as many to light up larger rooms.

New Bed Claiming System

And with this new and upcoming Paralives Update, we also get to see a new bed claiming system! Paralives will no longer sleep wherever suits them, and you can now choose which beds they're assigned to as well as which side on double beds.

A new menu appears when clicking on a bed, showing existing assignments or empty squares if no Parafolk are assigned. Simply click that one of the squares, the left and right being representative of each side of the bed, and select which household Parafolk you want on that side. Then, beds are assigned! Parafolks will sleep in their designated bedrooms with designated loved ones, rather than wherever is most convenient for them.

The Next Paralives Update

The next Paralives update will be Patch 0.1.7, which is the 5th update since Paralives release into early access in May. This patch releases August 10th, and will be available through the Steam Launcher.
