A new Paralives patch was released on August 10th, bringing quality-of-life upgrades and new features for the game, which is currently in early access. New patterns in the Paramaker, the ability to drink coffee, better baby visuals, and much more were added to the game. Let's check it out!

Community Feedback and the New Paralives Patch
The new Paralives patch, which was teased on social media for about two weeks prior to the official update, was release this week on August 10th. The first change they showcased addressed community suggestions about baby visuals, which were raised shortly after the game entered early access and which we covered in our article Paralives Community Gives First Feedback On Baby Improvements, and the other two posts were about bed slots and lighting, confirming that the team is actually listening to the community feedback and already implementing the changes into the game.

New Filters and Patterns added to the Paramaker
New patterns and filters were implemented for the Paramaker in this new Paralives patch this August.
New Patterns for the Paramaker
Five new patterns have been added to the Paramaker and can be used on existing meshes, allowing for new combinations and layering!

New Filters for the Paramaker
The filters you can apply are categorized into "Fashion Style", "Outfit Type", "Material", and "Custom Content". The filters are exclusive and if you select more than one, they will show only the intersection between all of them. Additionally, filters applied in the Clothing category will not be removed until you leave the Paramaker. For example, if you select the feminine filter, it will be applied across categories like "Clothing" and "Hairstyles", as well as their subcategories, and will remain until you remove it. Currently, the only filters that apply to Hairstyles and Makeup categories are "Feminine" and "Masculine", all other tags are only relevant to the Clothing category.

Improvements to the Food System
The food system was revamped with the new patch, making it possible to store food, check food information, and also ensuring that vegetarian options are available at restaurants. Let's take a look at the details!

Food Storing System and Food Information on Hover
With the new food system, you now have the ability to store food in fridges (even burnt food!). When hovering over food, you can see how many servings are left and how long it will take to spoil, with refrigerated food lasting longer, as usual. When you have food stored in the fridge, you can either select a specific meal by clicking "See stored items...", or let your Parafolk choose automatically with the "Eat leftovers" option.
A future improvement should address the fact that vegetarian Parafolk currently pick food at random, even when vegetarian options are available, which can result in them selecting non-vegetarian meals.

When food goes bad, you'll see a new option to "Clean Fridge" as well. It is possible to store already spoiled food, but it is highly not recommended.

Vegetarian Options in Restaurants
Being vegetarian is now easier with this new Paralives patch, as restaurants now offer vegetarian options. The filter indicating that a meal is vegetarian currently only works for food you have already purchased, but most vegetarian options include the word "veggie" in their names to make it easier to identify them.

Functional Coffee Machine
The coffee machine was made functional in this Paralives patch, offering three drink options: Coffee for 2 Paradimes, Espresso for 5 Paradimes, and Latte for 5 Paradimes. Drinking from the coffee machine will make your Parafolk ignore the sleep need for two hours.

Display Prices for Items in Your Inventory
The selling price of items can now be seen directly in the Sell button at the bottom of the inventory tab. Although it still needs improvement, it is now possible to see the price of paintings made by Parafolk directly from the inventory. When hovering, the price will show as zero, but the actual selling price can be seen on the "Sell" button at the bottom.

Relationship Improvements
Relationships are one of the essential parts of a life sim, and they received special attention in this Paralives patch. Old features were polished, and new features were implemented to make the game feel more alive. Let's check them out!
Invite Parafolk to Current Lot
You can now call a Parafolk to meet you wherever you are with the new "Invite to current lot..." option, alongside the "Invite home..." option. No more need for mods to call a Parafolk to hang out outside!

Hug Friends and Family
Parafolk can now hug friends and family members, not only their romantic partners, bringing more depth to their non-romantic relationships.

Move in With Friends
It is now possible to ask a friend to move in after they have a relationship of at least level 3. We can now hug and move in with friends!

Household Moves Now Include Children
If you ask a friend or romantic partner to move in and they share a household with only children, those children will come with them to live in your household.

Improved Romantic Interactions
Parafolk can now initiate romantic interactions by clicking on their partner. These options need to be unlocked through together cards first, but afterwards they will stay accessible both by clicking on the partner and by clicking on a bed directly.

Assign Bed Slots
Beds can now be assigned to specific Parafolk. No more sleeping in random people's beds!

Abrupt Breakups Now End Conversations
When breaking up suddenly, the involved Parafolk will immediately stop talking and have a negative reaction.

Babies Born in Parents Arms and Babies Visual Update
Babies are now born in the arms of the parent who gave birth to them. In my current testing, however, the position they appear in is not ideal: they first appear upside down in the parent's arms before settling into the correct position.
Babies now have improved visuals with proportions that are more realistic than the design before the update. This is one of the improvements suggested by the community and addressed by the Paralives team in this patch.

New Features Enhancing Melino's Visuals and Playability
Street Addresses and Lot Painting Limits
All locations in Melino now have addresses, and street names were revealed in this Paralives patch. The update also slightly expanded lot boundaries, allowing floor paintings to connect to the street!

More realistic lighting
The lighting system now behaves more realistically, with each light source interacting naturally with the environment and improving the game's overall look.

Display Townies on Town Map
Players can now toggle townie visibility on the town map with the new "Display Townies on Town Map" setting in the gameplay menu. No more need for mods to locate that Parafolk you want to find around town!

Hobbies Improvement
This new patch is also improving some of the existing hobbies: now Parafolk can listen to or dance to music, and a new game has been added to the computer options. Let's take a look!
Listen to Music
Your Parafolk can now enjoy music by listening or dancing, and each action has its own animation. Their Dance skill level will still affect how well they dance, of course!

Play Dorfromantik
The Paralives team has announced a new collaboration with the game "Dorfromantik" (also available on Steam as a bundle with Paralives!), and now Parafolk can play the game on the computer.

Hotfixes and Known Issues
This Paralives patch includes multiple fixes: feeding toddlers in high chairs, game speed that should now remain stable even after 70 in-game days, improved Advanced Transform Tool reliability, clearer "Item is in use" messaging, working "Do X for Y amount of time" goals, baby genetics with parental influence and life-stage slider effects, fixed family relationship detection to prevent romance, proper food orientation in Parafolk hands, and removal of dead Paras from streets.

Two extra hotfixes have been added to the game up to this date: Hotfix 0.1.7b, which addressed a bug where interactions such as "Go Home" and "Edit Appearance" would cause a softlock if the Parafolk was holding a baby, and Hotfix 0.1.7c, which fixed a bug that would cause Parafolk to get stuck on the stairs when canceling going up or down stairs while trying to put a baby in the crib.
The Paralives team has also addressed some known issues, like mods breaking with new patches, advising players that early access mods can become completely non-functional without updates specially now during early access. They've also noted that NPC Parafolk sometimes clip through walls after conversations and have confirmed they are working on multiple fixes.
