Want to ensure that your Tomodachi Life residents have personalities that match? Follow these personality charts to make sure your island is as curated as possible.

There are a total of different personalities that Tomodachi Life island residents can have, and the options you choose in the Mii creation menu will influence each character’s quirks.

Using The Personality Charts

Thanks to a recent Reddit thread, curating your island will be easy.

These sixteen charts, created by user Goji, explain how options in the personality menu map to personality types. The creator explains that the new version was shaped by community feedback and collaboration, making it clearer, more colourful, and easier to use.

It was made in collaboration with a North American player, named Sparkle, who provided the alternative names for each personality, displayed in brackets on each chart.

There is some debate about whether the Normal to Quirky scale on the personality charts affects the archetype the Mii are placed in, with some people saying they got the desired personality type without following it. Instead, it may impact other aspects of their day-to-day life on the island.

Four Main Groups

There are four main groups which each personality fits into: Easy-Going (Considerate), Energetic (Outgoing), Confident (Ambitious), and Reserved.

Easy-Going

These personalities will suit island residents who just want to take it one day at a time, not rock the boat, and have a good time in paradise with their friends.

Softie (Sweetie)

Softies/Sweeties are deeply empathetic and emotional people who are highly attuned to other residents’ feelings.

Carer (Buddy)

Loyal and caring friends, these residents always put others first and value harmony on the island.

Optimist (Cheerleader)

As the name suggests, these residents have upbeat, enthusiastic personalities that spread positivity and lift everyone’s mood on the island.

Dreamer (Daydreamer)

These residents are imaginative and romantic thinkers who often drift into ideas and possibilities. We know that daydreaming is something that Mii can do in the game, so we might see these residents daydream more often.

Energetic

Bring some energy and lively Miis to your island to help bring it to life.

Charmer

These residents are stylish and adaptable socialites who can easily impress others in a variety of situations.

Adventurer (Go-Getter)

Not surprisingly, as you slide every option to the max on the personality charts, you will get an extreme character. Adventurers will be sure to liven up your island.

Bubbly (Merrymaker)

As friendly and cheerful individuals who make quick connections and brighten any situation, it’s always nice to have a few bubbly residents on your island.

Hot-Blooded (Dynamo)

These residents are confident and assertive leaders who trust their instincts and earn respect naturally from their neighbours and friends. The use of the word ‘hot-blooded’ might also indicate they’re quick to anger.

Reserved

All of these personality types are, well, more reserved.

Patient

As creative, independent individuals who prefer to do things in their own unique way, Patient/Strategist Miis are unlikely to spend time thinking about what others think of them and instead follow their own path.

Perfectionist

Perfectionist Miis will be inspired creators who will strive for beauty and excellence in everything they do, as well as finding beauty in the little things around them.

Introvert

Going from one extreme scale to the other, introvert Miis are going to be the opposite of any Adventurers. They will be quiet and self-sufficient people who keep their emotions hidden.

Thinker

Tomodachi Life’s answer to philosophers, Thinker Mii’s have reflective and analytical minds, and will carefully consider every angle before acting.

Confident

The go-getters on the island!

Busy Bee (Achiever)

The Busy Bees of the island will be Miis that are hardworking and efficient planners who excel at turning goals and plans into reality.

Leader (Visionary)

Leaders are going to be highly driven risk-takers full of energy, who will eagerly pursue new ideas and opportunities.

Individualist (Rogue)

Confident and highly knowledgeable individuals, these Miis are not afraid to show their intelligence.

Headstrong (Maverick)

Self-starters who are filled with determination, nothing will get in the way of Headstrong Miis achieving what they have set their minds to.

Personality Compatibility

As well as the new compatibility meter and your character’s birthdays, having two Miis with similar personalities will make it easier for them to get along, especially if they are roommates/living together, a new feature in this version of the game.

This also applies if you are hoping to get two Miis to date: it’s not very likely that an Adventurer and an Introvert will be a happy match day-to-day.

However, this is speculation as there is a lot of guesswork until the full game releases in mid-April.
