The Sims 4 Go to School Mod Pack Back in Development!

29

The enhanced version of The Sims 4 Go to School Mod Pack is back in development, with a variety of upgrades. Most* (*see below for details) of the features mentioned in the previous announcement will be included, but with improvements for a better experience.

gts-1

  • Normal classes have been reorganised into three goal categories: Question Goals, Activity Goals and Social Goals, with a main goal of attending class for two hours. Question and Activity goals are both available when the day starts, but Social goals will only appear after performing the “Call to Meal” interaction on food. After completing three Activity goals, the fourth goal will always be to Call to Meal or eat food. This helps create a more organised school day, in which the player starts by listening to a lecture and ask question, proceeds to perform activities, and then goes for a lunch break.
    • If something prevents the Caterer from cooking a meal (for example, the appliances end up breaking), the Sim can complete the fourth goal by eating from the snack machine. This won’t unlock Social goals, but it will allow the player to still reach gold rank in the case of emergency by continuing to complete Activity goals.
    • The first day of school still acts like a tutorial stage, same as always.
  • Physical Education has been renamed to Health and Fitness, to avoid the misconception that it functions like an actual PE class.
  • There is a new set of computer interactions under a “Study Skill Online” pie menu. These interactions are available not only for Activity goals at school, but can optionally be used by home and even by adult Sims. Child Sims who study adult skills (and haven’t unlocked said skills) will build the closest equivalent Child skill.
  • Aside from the above changes, the experience is overall smoother and better resembles the experience you get from official content.

Unfortunately, there are some features that may not be included right away:

  • I’m struggling to decide how to implement field trips. I’ve made so many improvements to the regular school day, that triggering a field trip actually feels like a downgrade. I have plans to make other career mods in the future, so I’m thinking of holding off field trips until there are lot types that are adapted for them, that way they’ll feel more immersive. The guest speaker events are still intact, however.
  • The Education career will likely be a normal, non-active career the first time around. It can take a long time to make an active career, especially as I have big plans for future active careers, so I think it will be better to start on a fresh mind. The NPCs that show up when attending (or visiting) school will still be drawn the career, whether it’s active or not.
  • As there’s now a prom mod, it’s no longer necessary to create a prom event from Go to School. There’s nothing massive I had planned that the mod doesn’t contain.

The new version of Go to School is still in development, so feel free to leave your suggestions.

I haven’t decided on an exact release date yet, but although the mod could be playable by the end of the month, I feel it would be best to wait until some time after City Living is released, when there’s less hype for official content. It also means you’ll have something to look forward to for when the initial City Living hype is gone.

SimGuruDaniel talks Pets and Seasons for The Sims 4

68

NOTE: Please take this post with a grain of salt as nothing has been firmly confirmed.

About a year ago, SimGuruDaniel went on Twitter to basically assure Simmers that there’s nothing about The Sims 4 that will limit the possibility of creating Pets and Seasons themed packs:

Just 3 weeks ago, he replied on a Reddit post that asked Do you think TS4 will get pets and seasons? with the following message:

capture

It’s obvious he didn’t want to actually confirm the idea of these two packs, but there’s obviously irony in the ”what do I know?” sentence, as he is in fact a Game Designer for The Sims 4.

Pets and Seasons have basically been a part of every Sims game, so it’s most likely that we’ll be hearing more about these packs soon™.

The Sims 4 City Living: Worldwide Events and their Embargo

6

citylivinglogo2

The Sims Team hosted a couple of Events around the world, allowing various players to get their hands on The Sims 4 City Living and write/record their thoughts and opinions on this pack. The participants will have their previews published on their YouTube Channels and websites during the following dates (provided by DOTsim):

Embargoes and their lift date & time:

  • Producer Interviews (Oct 24th @ 7PM PDT)
  • Game Information, Screens and Videos (Oct 24th @ 7PM PDT)
  • First Impressions (excludes personal opinions and reviews) (Oct 24th @ 7PM PDT)
  • Reviews and Opinions (Oct 31st)

Just like before, pack reviews will be released a day before the actual release. That probably means that we can expect certain simmers to get their hands on the Early Access copy of The Sims 4 City Living just like with previous packs, which will give them more time to form their opinions rather than from 4-hour preview events.

We’ll have a list of all articles and videos published by the event attendees so stay tuned on Sims Community!

10 Features I’m excited for in The Sims 4 City Living

For me, City Living is one of the most stimulating packs I’ve seen so far. With its new options for storytelling, fashion and diversity City Living has the opportunity to bring a fresh feel to The Sims 4.

Dynamic living

I am a sucker for vibrant colours and neighbourhoods so when I saw the Spice Market and Arts Quarter I was ecstatic. The area was filled with thrilling colours and flowing streets, it felt dynamic which is something The Sims 4 has lacked in a way. Although we have had vast areas in our neighbourhood to run around and explore in there’s never felt an immense reason to. With soul now implemented into the streets, it gives me a reason to explore the hearty neighbourhoods. It’s not just trees and lakes, more art and for a city girl, it’s home.

Lot Traits

As someone who uses The Sims 4 to tell stories while playing, the Lot Traits adds a personality to our homes we have only had to imagine before. Something like a haunted house can now really be haunted with Lot Traits such as ‘Cursed’, ‘Haunted’ and ‘Filthy’. Also, it gives way to many challenges from the Simming community. It will also be a valuable way for YouTubers to expand their Let’s Plays. It makes you really think about the kind of family or household you want to develop and play. I’m jubilant to see what kind of life we can either bless or inflict on our Sims and how it will develop their lives.

Storytelling Possibilities

For the Story Sim Players, City Living has a whole host of ways to feature Simmers tales. From working our way up through the neighbourhoods or lot traits, the ways to present our Sims lives has expanded vastly. We can take our Sims to festivals and conventions, earn money by selling art or crafts instead of a job and have memorable involvement in bringing our Sims legends to life.

Cities

Our wonderful new world of San Myshuno, the vast city landscape is the most beautiful world I’ve seen so far. I mean I love Windenburg, but it wasn’t too long before it became stale so to finally have a city to explore is amazing. Honestly, I was becoming tired of seeing countryside themed areas. In The Sims 3, Bridgeport was the place to live, having so many different areas to settle down in. I loved that diversity of gameplay having a city brought. You could live outside and venture in on nights out and to work or live in the hustle and bustle.

New Careers and Traits

Since The Sims 4 came out, new advancements with Careers and Traits have been pretty satisfying. We had an entire expansion pack for careers, so to be getting 3 within this expansion is interesting. With these new careers, they are more like what we had in The Sims 3 with Ambitions that, they make you explore and go outside for your work with goals and achievements. It’s a positive way to meet the city and its life. The new traits with Unflirty and Vegetarian just adds another depth to your Sim, something I am interested to see play out.

The Sims 4 City Living’s Critic Career will play well with Dine Out’s Restaurants

10

Yesterday, The Sims Team has revealed more information about City Living’s 3 new Careers. One of them allows you to be a critic and give food and art critics. SimGuruDaniel explained on Twitter that the food critic abilities will also extend with The Sims 4 Dine Out features:

Giving food critics will be one of the new assignments in this Career. What better way to do your job than to go to actual Restaurants from The Sims 4 Dine Out?!

ts4_800_ep03_work_play_screens_foodcritic_001a

The Sims 4 Dine Out originally brought Food Critic NPCs to the table. They mostly just give your restaurant a visit and order some of your meals, after which they give you a critic that will play a huge role in the rating of your restaurant. With City Living, you’ll be able to take the Food Critic role!
