In today’s inside Maxis Livestream The Sims Team answered some questions regarding The Sims 4 and its plans for the future.
@Ashaife, who is one of the assistant producers on the game shared the following:
For now our roadmap continues to be focused on improving content that’s in the game. That said, stay tuned – prepare your Sims for a relaxing refresh of one of our existing Game Packs coming up soon.
The hint, if we’re not mistaken, is all aiming towards a content update for The Sims 4 Spa Day Game Pack, which should be getting “a refresh” soon.
Back in January 2020 The Sims Team asked through a survey which Expansion and Game Packs should get extra polish and improvements. It seems that the team is now finally ready to deliver the first Pack Update!
ARTICLE UPDATE: SimGurus also went on Twitter to tease this Pack Refresh!
Very refresh. Much clean clean.

We’ll keep you updated about the upcoming Pack Refresh right here on Sims Community!
Would be interesting to see what they do with it
Didn’t think spa day would be the first. I really, really hope island living is given a “refresher” especially mermaids. They did a good job with vampires so mermaids were a disappointment. There needed to be the similar power system and also doing some tasks to earn the kelp. And obviously the lack of ocean depth when diving. Though I think revamping mermaids is more likely and less costly. Also aliens need to be refreshed a bit too and definitely their world. I wished they’d update the fish graphics for basegame and add the ability to feed fishes and the frogs so there’s basegame “pets”. Spellcasters need a revamp too. Especially the task to “earn it” is again too easy. I would’ve liked if you had to explore other worlds (WC, OS, NC) instead of the one lot. I feel they should fear less about the game being “too hard” because they go in the opposite and make it too easy. We have cheats so if someone thinks its too hard they can do that but there really isn’t much in the game that’s “too hard”. It’s good they took the feedback about making higher grades a bit harder than when originally release and they need to take that into other aspects of the game.
Ino, the only part(gameplay wise) of RoM that really needs a refresh is how alchemy is handled. The Sims 3 handled it better, since it was usable by all occults, aliens & normal sims alike.
When they do refresh it, they might as well make the magic realm have a liveable neighbourhood with potentionally magical apartments
Island Living isn’t a Game Pack, it’s an Expansion Pack. I really wanted RoM to be the first game pack to get refreshed. There’s spells that I feel should be in the game to make Spellcasters feel unique. They have abilities to similar to those that Scientist Career Sims have access to. The Magic HQ needs a lot of help as it’s so damn ugly, they need to get a proper builder to renovate it.
Hopefully, Mermaids will get the makeover they desperately deserve if they refresh Expansion Packs. As I feel Mermaids are the least interesting occult. Giving them a fun and relevant skill tree would be cool.
I’m aware IL is an EP. My main point was that I felt there were other content that needed refreshing, especially compared to SD, since it was mentioned the team would focus on improving other content already in the game.
Fix simulation lag first.
Simulation lag is getting fixes, as its larger issue that can’t just be fixed right away.
The Spa Day is ok. I think they should start with the Dine Out. It screams to be fixed.
Ironically, that’s one of the packs that least needs it. I’d much rather they update Get to Work with its dull and broken retail system and the lacklustre alien occult.
Done Out is in need of a refresh, so are mermaids.
The game is still fundamentally shallow. I’ve gone back to TS2, haven’t played TS4 in a month. I google it to see if the shallowness issue is getting fixed.
How about adding more fitness equipment? How can you design a good gym with just treadmills, chest presses and punching bags?
What about hydraulic rowing machines and stationary bikes?
And one BIG thing to fix is all the crashing!!!!
