Harness the power of the moon inside crystals with The Sims 4 Crystal Creations!

While the effects of crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations don’t last forever, this can still be a huge game changer if you and your Sim know how to make the most of the power that crystals can hold. All you need is a gemstone or a piece of jewellery made from a crystal, the moon, and a crystal charging grid!

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Crystal Charging Guide

In this Sims 4 Crystal Creations guide, you’ll learn all about how to use the crystal charging grid to infuse the gemstones and jewellery you craft with powerful effects that can be of use to not just your own Sims, but their friends and family, too.

Once you know what each type of crystal can do in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, it’s just a matter of cutting it into a gemstone or crafting it into a piece of jewellery, charging it on the crystal grid and you’ll have a powerful little piece of magic in your pocket. Or around your neck. Or dangling from your ears. Or on your fingers and wrists. Or sitting in your home… Well, you get the idea. Basically, you can do a lot with crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations.

Charging Crystals

To charge your crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, you first need to have a crystal charging grid. You can find one in Build/Buy for $50 which is a pretty great price considering what it can do. This crystal charging grid is also functional off-the-grid because it doesn’t use electricity to power up the crystals placed on it… it uses the moon!

The crystal grid must be placed outdoors in order to work. It cannot have a roof over it; it needs direct exposure to the sky. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t place a crystal grid indoors for decorative purposes. You can absolutely have a crystal grid inside for aesthetic. It just won’t charge your crystals indoors.

Between the hours of 7pm and 7am is when you want to stock up the crystal grid because that is when the moon is out. When we say stock up, we mean it; each crystal grid can have up to 7 pieces of jewellery or gemstones placed on it, meaning you can charge up to 7 crystals at a time. So if you’ve made multiple items during the daytime, you can charge them all at night.

If you want to make the most of charging your crystal pieces in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, you’ll want to pay attention to the moon phases. Technically speaking, your crystal gemstones and jewellery will charge no matter what phase the moon is in, but depending on the current moon phase, they will charge much faster or much slower. For example, under the new moon when the moon is not visible in the sky, your crystals will charge the slowest. However, during a full moon, your crystals will charge fastest. Given these two extremes, it’s easy to remember that waxing moon phases will charge crystals faster and waning moon phases will charge crystals slower.

You can see the charging progress by hovering over an item on the crystal grid or by hovering over the grid itself, but you’ll see visual cues as well. For example, fully charged items glow and on a full moon, the crystal grid glows brightly to indicate that it is charging your crystals extra fast. Once your crystal pieces are fully charged up, they only hold their power for a short time, usually about 2 in-game days. You’ll have to keep recharging those pieces every couple of days to maintain the effects on them.

Crystal Effects

So you’ve charged your crystals but what the heck do they do in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations? Well, this is easy to find out. If you hover over any crystal in the game, you’ll be able to see exactly what effects that crystal will have when it is charged on a crystal grid.
