The Sims Team has clarified the current situation with Save Game corruption.
It’s been a couple of weeks since we last reported about The Sims 4 Save Game Corruption issue. Predominantly more about how For Rent’s Residental Rental feature acts as a glitch multiplier for some players leaving their save games corrupted.
The Sims Direct Team issued a new statement last night about their current progress with resolving the glitch. Stating that there are 8 different scenarios where this corruption issue occurs – even outside of features included with The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion.
The team has been actively working to find a solution for the save file issue & we’ve identified 8 potential situations that require more information from players.
In the shared official Bug Report Thread, there are eight different pinpointed issues when The Sims 4 Save Game corruption glitch starts showing up. The Sims Team encourages all players who experience this glitch to report their experience and save files in the linked bug threads below.

Problem
The save game starts to disintegrate itself. Lots start to get deleted, causing endless loading, loading into empty lots or Error Codes 800/801.

There are currently different issues so please use either of these going forward. Make sure to read through the first post of each to be sure you’re posting in the correct thread.
- If you get a White screen after loading into world with an R-rental, please use this thread: White Screen when loading world (Patch 1.109.207)
- If your save is corrupting and you have a lot of r-rentals in your save game, please use this thread: [FR] Corrupted Lots/Houses disappear in saves with lots of rental units
- If you get Load Error 800 or 801, please use this thread Load Error Code 800/801
- If your game shows all the neighboring lots as default/empty instead of the correct lot, use this thread: Neighboring Houses show as Default/Empty | EA Forums – 11903590
- If you downloaded a specific lot from the gallery and that gives you endless loading/crashing when leaving the lot or trying to load into it, please use this thread: Endless Loading/Crashing when trying to load a certain lot (broken object(s). Please be aware that this issue isn’t a corrupted save game. It’s a corrupt lot.
- If you downloaded a few random lots from the gallery and you start to get endless loading with them, please use this thread: Placing lots from the gallery freezes game/endless loading
- If you’re buildings are disappearing but the furniture is still there, use this thread: Floating furniture and building completely gone
- If you’re buildings are disappearing/reverts to base, you have exclamation marks or lamas on the map or the houses are different on the map and in the game (even after loading into the lot), please use this thread: Houses/Lots Disappear
Troubleshooting
The issue is really hard to pinpoint but there are a few things that can accelerated the issue.
- This issue is not mod caused but it can be influenced by mods and cheats, especially if you create lots of Residential Rental units in your save game.
- Save Game Size. The issue usually typically happens on larger save games. There are a few factors that contribute to save game size that you can keep an eye on
- Lots of huge houses with lots of objects: Try to keep those down. Consider using empty houses for set decoration if you don’t play certain lots but want houses to make it look nicer
- Photos Sims take ingame. Try to only keep the photos you really like and that contribute to your gameplay. Delete everything else. Photos take up a lot of space in the save.
- Lots of Sims. The game creates Sims at abundance. Delete the ones you don’t use from time to time.
- Usually there’s nothing you can do once it starts happening.

I can’t place objects after a while. Even on a new save I went to build a lot and not even 5 minutes later. It won’t let me place objects anymore and if I save or exit I’ll get infinite loading/saving screen and need to close TS4 in Task Manager. On a new save, after I repaired the game over 10 times in one month. Even without mods/cc installed it still happened.
I had a similar issue. I could only place an object if I deleted an object and it was a one for one trade even though the lot wasn’t owned. Somehow it resolved. I tried repairing my game a few times. I don’t know if that or the following update fixed that issue.
Crazy how a game with over a 1000 bucks worth of packs available to purchase, is advicing you to make empty homes to make sure your game won’t get corrupted. Like, what the actual f?
I don’t likr complaining about the game cause it actually still does bring me joy but having to advice something so lame as this to make sure your game runs good is just crazy.

Yea I’m starting a new save since mine is basically a save from when get to work started. Ive never really had a game breaking experience like this especially since I usually wait a few weeks before updating so when that sort of bug happens I’ve only updated when there was a hotfix added.
Now it’s forcing my hand. Just taking a while to save all my sims and lots as backups. For me, my houses are reverting to base game but it depends on the house. I have one bugged one in willow creek and one that resolved itself in newcrest. Seems like certain lots trigger the reverting to base game. It’s really disappointing since I spend hours on my lots to personalize and sims. I do have a ton of sims since there are tons of worlds and I spend 1/3 of my time in game using cas.

I love the Sims…been playing it since it came out on my birthday. I make TONS of items for ingame. I enjoy the play but everyone is right. $1000’s of dollars and it glitches so hard you end up losing years of game play. I got a household I’ve been playing for 3 years. I’m glad I back it up monthly. I haven’t been playing for the last few weeks thank gawd and won’t. Not till this is fixed. I bought Inzoi and I see straight off the bat Sims has some MAJOR competition. It’s got way better graphics. The editing details are off the chart and the game play itself is similar to Sims but has more meat to the whole of it. If Sims doesn’t get it’s damn act together, it’s going to lose it’s following and it’s profits. I am already leaning towards this new game just because even in the early release it’s running better than Sims 4 did.
I’ve starting to have these same problems, it hasn’t really deleted anything huge but when I was trying to do the tattoo set up on my vampire sims face it glitched when I was trying to save the game and it made the tattoo appear on the non dark form vampire . My sisms get stuck alot and I need this to fixed because I have a big family tree I been working on my 8 months. Please sim workers help us!!
are there any updates on this yet? idk if i should move my family to a new save (which would be a lot of work) or hope for the sims team to do something lol
