The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles

Exploring the 90s Male Hair CC Set!

As a 90s baby, the 90s is a decade that is close to my heart. It represents a simpler time back when calling someone on the phone meant calling their parents, when using the Internet involved yelling at your mom to get off the phone, and the first PlayStation console blew our minds with its cutting edge graphics.

That’s why I just had to check out this 90s CC set by JohnnySims! The set includes 6 different male hairstyles reminiscent of 90s fashion! Not only does this set harken back to my days of nostalgia but it also caters exclusively to male Sims! Male Sims are at a huge disadvantage in the CAS department since official DLC packs favour female Sims and so do most CC creators so it’s difficult to find a good variety of CAS pieces for male Sims, even if you’re an avid CC user.

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles

Let’s jump into this set!

The Spiker Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
Every 90s bad boy rocked this hairstyle! And every good girl in the 90s wanted to be with a bad boy… at least in the movies, anyway. This hairstyle tells everyone you’re edgy and too cool for school so try putting this on your rough-around-the-edges Sims for that quintessential bad boy 90s look!

The Dylan Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
Don’t be fooled by this model’s scowl; the Dylan was worn by the lovable boy next door! This hairstyle told everyone that you were laid back, casual, and friendly; just your average guy you could really kick back and hang with. For an approachable look with a touch of sensitivity, give this hairstyle a try.

The Francis Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
This shaggy, swept back look was the envy of every surfer and beach bum in the 90s. This hairstyle made it clear to everyone that you were one with the waves, brah! This beachy windswept look is perfect for your beach loving Sims who want to look good while catching waves on their aqua-zips.

The Will Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
Is it any wonder why this hairstyle is called Will? Who can forget one of the 90’s most memorable TV sitcoms, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and its main star, Will Smith? Will often rocked this look on the show and made it look effortless and now your Sims can channel their inner Fresh Prince with this iconic hair, too!

The Blake Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
This one’s for the nerdy 90s boys; the bowl cut. You know, the one your mom did herself by putting a salad bowl on your head and cutting around it with the kitchen scissors. Yeah, that bowl cut. This look wasn’t exactly the coolest but it certainly made a statement. Mainly the statement that your mom still cuts your hair and that you take the mathlete club very seriously. Hey, it’s okay! Our dorky Sims need a look for them, too!

The Jack Hair

The Sims 4 Custom Content: 90s inspired Masculine Hairstyles
“I’ll never let go, Jack!” That’s right, the biggest lie in 90s cinematic history is now immortalized in this trendy sideswept hairstyle reminiscent of Leonardo DiCaprio in the film, Titanic. Every guy wanted to rock the Leo look after this movie came out and who can blame them? It’s never really gone out of style!

Creating a Bridal Store in The Sims 4

Building a Bridal Store with the Anybody’s Dress Bridal Shop CC Set!

Now that EA has finally promised to fix its mistakes regarding the My Wedding Stories game pack, we thought we’d showcase some custom content that makes use of the new game pack. One of our favourite creators, Ravasheen, has just released an adorable CC set to help you build the perfect bridal boutique!

The set is called Anybody’s Dress Bridal Shop Set which includes four decorative display outfits from My Wedding Stories and two elegant bridal shop signs. Each clothing display has many different swatches to make over 50 unique swatches in total!

Creating a Bridal Store in The Sims 4
We decided the best way to show off this adorable set is to build a bridal boutique using all the items! Welcome to Rava’s Bridal where your Sims can purchase their perfect wedding dress or tux for their big day!

Creating a Bridal Store in The Sims 4
Ravasheen’s beautiful dresses and suit jackets on display in the front windows immediately draw you in and make you want to enter the store. Bridal signs advertise stunning gowns inside. If you own the Get To Work expansion pack, these signs will be functional retail signs and attract customers to your store. If you don’t own Get To Work, they will just be deco objects. Either way, they will look beautiful in your bridal shop.

Inside, more decorative displays sit high on platforms but there are also functional Get To Work mannequins already dressed in their finest wedding attire for Sims to browse and try on. There’s something for all ages here! We can’t forget about our Flower Pals and Ring Bearers after all. Don’t see the perfect wedding outfit out on display? No problem! Head on back to the fitting rooms where an armoire contains the full CAS catalogue for you to customize your perfect outfit!

Of course, you might be trying on dresses for a long time before you find “the one” but Rava’s Bridal has you covered there, too, with a washroom open to customers and a back patio where Sims can take a break from dress shopping to enjoy a drink and maybe calm those pre-wedding nerves a bit. Or celebrate finding the perfect dress with a drink!

When you’ve found your perfect wedding outfit, make sure to browse some of the other items on display on your way out. There are flowers, fragrances, picture frames and more to help you make your wedding day truly special!

Modder picks up unfinished aspects of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

More proof that EA rushed the release of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

Yesterday we reported on the unfortunate fact that EA had disabled one of the cutest features for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories –  letting your Pets walk down the aisle.

After analyzing the code features it’s apparent that the team had already developed a big stack of features and animations that allows for Dogs to be a part of your wedding. However, just like the rushed release of an unfinished, almost unfunctional release of My Wedding Stories, these features were also not completely finished.

Modder picks up unfinished aspects of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

Modder @MissyHissySims who already got to work with creating new features for the Game Pack had made an interesting discovery in the Game Code. While working on adding proper reactions when asking for a Blessing in Marriage, they discovered a game icon in the game code:

Interesting fact for you: The icon I used was already in the game. It was also already called buffs_HappyBlessingToMarry So obviously the Devs planned to add a moodlet for this interaction but presumably didn’t have the time left?

Modder picks up unfinished aspects of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

Interestingly enough The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories brings a feature that lets you ask family members for Marriage Blessing. However, there are no moodlet reactions tied to this social interactions. Sims perform it and that’s basically just it. No negative or positive moodlet outcomes.

The game code cleary shows that The Sims Team had intentions to give Sims proper reactions to each turnout of this interaction. The modder took a light of this situation and had started developing a mod which will add proper moodlet reactions and sentiments for each supposed outcome!

And here are the not-so-happy moodlets! So there are two possible negative moodlets if your Sim is denied a bless (either sad or angry, depending on traits) and the Tense one if for the family member when they refuse.

So now we have 3 clear indicators that My Wedding Stories was rushed by EA:

The Sims 4 is getting New Tattoos this Month

New Tattoos coming to The Sims 4 Base Game!

The Sims Team has announced today that they’ll be adding new Tattoos to The Sims 4 for FREE this month!

The game is getting updated with entirely new Tattoo options for your Sims to choose and express themselves. These new tattoos have been created in collaboraiton with four real-life female Tattoo Artists!

Check out the breakdown of some of the new tattoos that you should expect:

The new Tattoos will be released through The Sims 4’s Sims Delivery Express sometime this month.

You can check out the full interview with the Tattoo Artists down below:

The Sims 4™  is bringing a new selection of quite possibly the oldest, purest and definitely the most permanent form of self-expression to the Base Game.

To proudly recognize leading women in the industry, we’ve worked with four amazing tattoo artists who are shaping the future of tattoos for You Make The Sims, a series that spotlights creators across the world who inspire us. These women have developed a collection of special tattoos “More Than Skin Deep,” for Create-A-Sim that will be available through the Sims Delivery Express.

There’s Young 02, a Korean, Seoul-based artist known for her abstract expressions, figures, and vivid colors; Crys, a Taiwanese, Brooklyn-living tattooist who specializes in blackwork and floral designs (and she’s a professional esports athlete!); Mani, a Brazilian immigrant to the UK whose art celebrates Black Indigenous cultures and matriarchy; and Genesis, a NYC-bred skater-slash-tattooist who enjoys creating ornamental pattern work as well as illustrating insects and botanicals.

We sat down with these inspiring women to talk about what they designed for The Sims 4, their individual styles, what it’s like being a woman tattooist, and why adorning your body with art is the ultimate form of self-expression.

Let’s talk about tattoos! What excites you most about tattooing?

Crys: The people! This industry gives you the potential to meet so many different types of people, and I have made so many friends through tattooing. I also am super thankful to have the ability to always be able to learn and grow. I am constantly inspired by new artists, and hope to always keep improving my work.

Young 02: That I can leave something eternal in a person’s eternity.

Genesis: Learning, and growing as an artist. I get excited when I see the reaction of a client when they first see their completed tattoo and having the satisfaction of knowing that my knowledge/wisdom in this craft is paying off.

Now, how would you describe your work as a tattoo artist?

Crys: I am very versatile in style, however as I progress as an artist, I especially identify with gaming culture, anime, and flora and fauna tattoos.

Young 02: By using abstract forms and vivid colors, I give people time to think and talk about their stories and feelings, and comfort their minds.

Genesis: My work is very multifaceted. I go back and forth between simplicity and complexity. Some days I do very illustrative/detailed work, other days my work is very simplistic in nature. Themes pertaining to my work includes natural archetypes, such as planets, the Occult, spirituality, and ornamental pattern work integrated with magic. I enjoy creating intuitive designs for my clients which assists them in fulfilling their desires and manifestations pertaining to their own spiritual journey.

We can absolutely see these styles come to life in the tattoos you created for The Sims. Can you tell us more about these designs and why you created them?

Crys: The designs I created were based mainly on the theme of anime and floral components. Recently, a lot of anime’s have female leads, but it’s really cool to see a surge in allowing these females to be powerful without the damsel in distress trope. Without being literal, the tattoo itself can represent the balance between beauty and power, and just how special that connection is.

Young 02: I drew it by comparing the beauty of women to nature. Just as nature is beautiful in any way it exists, I wanted to say that women are beautiful in that way. We all are perfect!

Genesis: The designs I created for The Sims are similar to the kind of designs I normally do for my clients. Tribal repetitive patterns along with some celestial serpent energy for The Sims! I tried my best to create designs that I felt would grant players the option of creating an avatar with a spiritual context. Some people like to be completely covered in tattoos; however I wanted to grant players the option of having simplicity while still being adorned.

We can’t wait to see players start experimenting with these tats! Now, let’s learn a bit about yourselves. How did you become a tattoo artist?

Crys: My love for tattooing stems back to when I was a child in Taiwan. I would go down to the boat docks where there were old biker dudes covered in traditional tattoos. My parents thought differently, but art on skin has always intrigued me, and I started drawing on people as a kid. Even though I did classical music throughout my youth, I came to New York for art school and through word of mouth I ended up getting a job at my first shop as a shop girl.

Young 02: I’ve always felt that tattooing is very attractive in that I draw on the body, not on canvas.

Genesis:  My love for tattoos began when I was 14 years old. I was always interested in art growing up, but it wasn’t until I started watching music videos that I saw some of my favorite musicians wearing markings on their skin. The idea of translating my artwork into a medium that can be worn on individuals seemed very appealing to me; as well as the idea of wearing my story on my skin. I met my first mentor in college, who was also studying the same major as me, graphic design; he was already a tattoo artist. A conversation was initiated between the two of us and the rest is history.

Because these tattoos are meant to celebrate what it means to identify as women, what makes you proud to be a woman in the tattoo industry?

Crys: To be a female artist is to embrace my ability to empathize and connect with my clients on a personal level. As we grow as women, we often realize there are many obstacles. However, these obstacles present themselves as opportunities for growth and self reflection. While many negative gender and industry stereotypes exist, it makes me proud that I am able to overcome challenges as well as create a nurturing and positive environment. For me, being a female artist is having the ability to embrace fierceness and fragility both in kind.

Young 02: Tattoos make people more themselves. Tattoos are a very powerful and permanent way to express people who you are. As a female tattoo artist, I’m very proud to help other females express themselves to be themselves.

Genesis: Just being a female alone in a male dominated industry and making strides in my career despite the obstacles that are purposely placed in this industry to limit women make me  feel not only proud of myself but very grateful to have made it this far in my career.  Through my experience alone I can inspire other women to go against the grain of what’s expected from females in this industry. I want to inspire women to refuse taking no for an answer, to stand firm in their convictions and not feel that they have to compromise their bodies, or freedom of speech or autonomy in order to learn this craft. I want them to know that if we aren’t welcomed to table in this male dominated industry, we’ll just make our own seating arrangements at our own table.

To close out our conversation, what do you hope people take away from you, your work and the tattoos you are bringing to The Sims?

Crys: I hope that people will be happy with whatever choices they make in life. I hope my tattoos are a reminder of the experience they had, whether it’s meaningful, or nothing, or everything. Ultimately. I hope my tattoos and my work are reminders to be happy for that person wherever they end up in life, and to always strive for improvement. There is so much room to grow.

Young 02: I draw/tattoo about peoples’ feelings and stories. I use abstract expressions, figures, and vivid colors so I can express stories, or feelings, of various spectrums and hide them if I want. I want people who look at my paintings (or getting tattoos from me) to feel and imagine whatever they want. I want them to make their own stories or feelings when they look at my artworks so they can have time to look into their hearts and take care of themselves.

Genesis: I hope players are inspired to get more body adornments in real life. I also hope that they are inspired to integrate their interests into different modalities.

The four Create-A-Sim tattoos will be available later in March in The Sims™ 4 on PC and Mac via Origin™ and Steam®, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One systems.

EA disabled the cutest feature for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

Another proof that The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories released way too early

Ever since The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack had been announced simmers wanted to know if Cats & Dogs could too walk down the aisle.

After a rocky release of the pack (with fixes promised to arrive this month) modders have uncovered a hidden feature that The Sims Team has been working on. That’s right – the ability to send your Petsdown the aisle!

Modder 83bienchen first discovered that The Sims Team always had intentions to allow players to send Dogs down the aisle through the game’s code:

There were actually plans to allow cats and dogs as ring and flower bearers.

Hints/Leftovers of these plans can be found in the tuning files:
wedding_Immediate_Aisle_DogCheck_SendFlowerDown
wedding_Immediate_Aisle_DogCheck_SendFlowerUp

These two aren’t so much in the face but both interactions have been specifically set to allow for cats and dogs to do them:
wedding_Aisle_WalkDown_Ring
wedding_Aisle_WalkDown_Flower

Shortly after the release of the pack modders got to work and discovered there’s much more to it. The Sims Team hadn’t just developed code functions to let your Pets walk down the aisle, but animations as well!

Modder chippedscreationscorner released a .package file that enables Big Dogs and Small Dogs to be your Flower Pals at the wedding. Here’s what they have to say about the mod:

Pets as Flower Pals

There has been an incompleted tuning in the game that allows you to choose pets as flower pals. For some reason it was set as a debug interaction. I enabled it for normal gameplay. So far it only works for large & small dogs but I’m trying to enable it for cats and add an option to use them as ring bearers as well!

The installation process for this Mod requires to do the following:

  1. First install the XML injector mod and paste both of the files to Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder.
  2. Download the Pets as Flower Pals Mod and paste it to Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder.
  3. Ensure your Mods / CC are enabled in the Game Options!

The process to make your dog your Flower Pal is rather simple!

First select the goodest of dogs in your household and select the “Ask to be Flower Pal at Wedding”

EA disabled the cutest feature for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

When planning your Wedding Event select the dog to be your Flower Pal!

EA disabled the cutest feature for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

When it’s time for the Wedding select the Wedding Aisle and choose your Flower Pal dog to Send Down (or Up) the aisle. You’ll then be asked which flower arrangement should they bring with them!

EA disabled the cutest feature for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

After that the goodest of dogs will walk down the aisle strutting with the bouqet that you’ve chosen. It’s one of the most adorable things I’ve seen!

EA disabled the cutest feature for The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories

And unfortunately, the best thing being disabled is just another proof that the release of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack had been rushed. If The Sims Team had already developed this feature, it being disabled in the backend of the game could mean that EA rushed Maxis to get the Game Pack out while leaving the Game Pack functionality mostly broken, with features such as this being unfinished.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod

Detailed Overview of the Werewolves Mod for The Sims 4!

Although The Sims 4 has impressed us with its previous occult Sims like spellcasters and vampires, players have been asking for more types of occult Sims to play with for a long time. Two of the most popular requests are faeries and werewolves. Today, we’re showcasing a new mod that’s just gone public by the very talented SpinningPlumbobs that’s all about werewolves! SpinningPlumbobs has also created a faerie mod. It’s fully compatible with his werewolves mod.

This mod comes packed with new gameplay, including a new occult type, three new skills, a lot trait, and tonnes of perks and objects for our werewolves, both helpful and harmful to them! It’s now free to the public and requires the Vampires game pack to work properly.

[mks_button size=”medium” title=”Download” style=”rounded” url=”https://www.patreon.com/posts/sims-4-mod-62582437″ target=”_blank” bg_color=”#4aa500″ txt_color=”#FFFFFF” icon=”fa-arrow-down” icon_type=”fa” nofollow=”0″]

Before we get into the mod, we just want to let readers know that this mod does contain some blood and gore; however, it is rather mild. We didn’t see any gore that was super intense or over-the-top during our playthrough (and this author has a very queasy stomach)!

How to Install

Most of this mod’s files just go straight into your Mods folder like most other mods, but SpinningPlumbobs has also included some tray files to generate an NPC Sim who will play the Occult Professor role in your game. Tray files go in your Tray folder. The Tray folder is located in the same place as your Mods folder. He has also made it very easy to identify which files go where.

Download and unzip the mod. Inside the mod’s folder, there will be another folder called ThatcherWolff_TrayFiles. Copy everything inside that folder and paste it all into your Tray folder. Everything else goes in the Mods folder. When you start the game after installing the mod and the tray files, go to your library in the Gallery and tick the Include Custom Content box. Thatcher Wolff should be here for you to move in anywhere in your worlds.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
And that’s all you have to do to set everything up! If you can’t get Thatcher Wolff to appear in your library, don’t worry; the game will spawn a new Occult Professor but Thatcher Wolff does come with some unique characteristics a randomly spawned Occult Professor won’t have. If you’re new to installing mods and need some extra guidance, check out our article, Getting Started with Mods and CC.

Becoming a Werewolf

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Before jumping into becoming a werewolf, you’ll probably want to learn a little bit about them, first. Your journey to becoming a werewolf starts with the Internet! You’ll find a new option on the computer called LycanSource.com. Under this option, begin browsing werewolf lore. You can also purchase werewolf items from LycanSource.com. There are a few new items you can purchase here to either attract or repel werewolves, like raw meat and wolfsbane perfume. Researching werewolf lore on LycanSource.com builds the new Werewolf Lore skill, which is a major 10-level skill.

At level 2 of the Werewolf Lore skill, you can begin chatting with werewolf enthusiasts in a chatroom. Doing so will put you in contact with Thatcher Wolff if you placed him in your world at the start of your game. If not, a different Sim in your world will be given the Occult Professor role. Once the Occult Professor has reached out to you online, you can invite them over to talk about all things occult and purchase special items from them.

You’ll be able to buy a variety of items from the Occult Professor but the item most of interest to someone wanting to build the Werewolf Lore skill is the Book of the Beast. The Occult Professor also sells silver daggers and moonstone rings which are new objects that come with this mod. More on all the new objects later!

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Now that you have some introductory knowledge of werewolves under your belt, all that’s left to do is go find a werewolf and entice them into attacking you! For that, you’ll need to bait a werewolf using raw meat at night on a lot that has the new Frequent Animal Attacks lot trait. Wait for nightfall and then take a piece of raw meat to one of these lots. Click the meat in your inventory to bait a werewolf. A werewolf is not guaranteed to appear but if you’re persistent and keep trying, one should eventually take notice and appear. Because of the lot trait, the werewolf is highly likely to autonomously attack your Sim but you can also initiate an attack by clicking on the werewolf and choosing to provoke it.

Not every werewolf attack will turn a Sim into a werewolf. If you do not see the Mark of the Beast moodlet after the attack, your Sim has not been infected. You can continue to provoke the werewolf into attacking you until you receive this moodlet, which indicates that your Sim has been infected and will transform into a werewolf in a few days’ time.

During the transition process, your Sim will be very uncomfortable and go through stages of transition. The first stage will be accelerated healing and all their wounds from being attacked will disappear. Near the final stages, their eyes will turn yellow. Finally, when night falls, they will forcibly transform into a werewolf.

Customize Your Werewolf

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod

To really customize your werewolves to your liking, there are three different styles of werewolf your Sims can become. By default, Sims will transform into a humanoid werewolf but there is also a dog snout style and a beast style. You can control which style of werewolf you want your Sim to be even before the transition to a werewolf is complete. Just click on your Sim to choose the form you wish them to take along with their fur colour.

Werewolf Abilities

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves start out weak and not in control of their animalistic nature. They have a new bar at the top of their motives, called Feral Control. Using werewolf abilities or experiencing negative emotions will cause their Feral Control to decrease. New werewolves will see this decrease much faster than experienced werewolves. Werewolves are always compelled to transform under the light of the moon regardless of their Feral Control but when the Feral Control bar empties, they will also forcibly transform against their will no matter the time of day. Whenever your werewolf transforms against their will, they’ll be unable to transform back into a human for a certain length of time. New werewolves will be stuck in their wolf form longer than experienced werewolves.

While in their werewolf form, werewolves can hunt for treasures, howl at the moon, sleep anywhere on the ground, and even “go tinkle” anywhere outside. Their diet also consists of only raw meat but beware; they can only stomach raw meat while in their wolf form. Trying to eat raw meat in their human form will make them sick and cause them to vomit!

Werewolves also have some unique interactions with other Sims, such as nuzzling their significant other under the Romance category. They have a unique walk and run style as well. Werewolves will walk hunched over like a beast and run on all fours while in their wolf form.

Of course, werewolves can also infect others with the Mark of the Beast to create more werewolves and have either friendly or feral brawls. Some special recipes also require werewolf venom which a werewolf can willingly extract from their fangs after building the Werewolf Lore skill. Be aware that if a werewolf has recently done this, they won’t have any venom left to infect Sims with the Mark of the Beast. They’ll have to wait a while for their venom to replenish.

We’ve only given an overview of some of the new interactions available to werewolves but play with them yourself to see the full range of everything they can do!

Honing Your Skills

This mod comes with three new skills; a major 10 level skill (Werewolf Lore), a minor 5 level skill (Lycanthropy), and a mini 3-level skill that is actually temporary and resets back to zero every time it is maxed out (Werewolf XP).

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolf Lore is separate from being a werewolf. Sims can learn and max out this skill even if they are not a werewolf. In fact, building the Werewolf Lore skill will come in handy for those who may want to hunt down and slay werewolves! Build the Werewolf Lore skill by researching on LycanSource.com, then purchase the Book of the Beast from the Occult Professor and continue your studies by reading this rare text. As you build this skill, new recipes will become available to your Sim to make using the Lunar Altar or brewing on a stovetop. The items and concoctions your Sim can craft have the power to help or harm werewolves so this skill is useful for both aiding and eradicating them.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Lycanthropy can only be learned by werewolves. New werewolves start out as Omega werewolves, which is level 1 of the Lycanthropy skill. At this level, they are very susceptible to becoming feral. Their Feral Control bar will deplete faster and when they do transform against their will, they will be stuck that way for a longer period of time. Transformations are also extremely painful for new werewolves. Werewolves can build their Lycanthropy skill by doing werewolf-related activities such as hunting or brawling. As they build this skill, werewolves will become more in control of themselves. Their Feral Control will deplete slower and transforming into a werewolf won’t be painful for them anymore. They can also unlock more perks from the Lunar Altar.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolf XP is another “skill” only available to werewolves. Every time your werewolf maxes this skill out to 3, it resets back to zero and your werewolf is able to purchase a new perk for themselves. More on perks in the following section!

Werewolf Perks and XP

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves can purchase perks for themselves from the Lunar Altar to give them special benefits and added abilities as a werewolf. Purchasing a perk costs 3 Werewolf XP. You can keep track of how close you are to the next threshold by looking in your skill panel but the game will also let you know whenever you’ve obtained three XP and can buy a new perk. Whenever you’ve maxed out your XP at 3, it resets back to 0.

There are many different perks and more will become available through building the Lycanthropy skill. For example, werewolves can purchase the Brute Strength perk for themselves which will give them a great advantage in fights; however, it also comes with the drawback of accidentally breaking objects that they use and unintentionally injuring other Sims they attempt to be close with. The Fine-Tuned Muscle perk will eliminate this hazard. They can also purchase other perks that will make them immune to wolfsbane, allow them to eat raw meat in their human form, and many other benefits. You can see which perks your werewolf has by clicking on them.

Remember; the Lunar Altar draws its power from the moon so it can only be used at night!

Werewolves vs. Vampires

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
A vampire in the later stages of poisoning from werewolf venom

Of course, what would a werewolves mod be without a rivalry with their known enemies; vampires! Yes, werewolves and vampires do have a rivalry in this mod and will not get along with each other. Vampires and werewolves will make their dislike of each other known whenever they are around each other but that’s not the only way in which vampires and werewolves are incompatible.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolf venom is highly toxic to vampires and will slowly kill them if they become infected by it. Their vampire energy will slowly decline until the bar is empty, at which point, the vampire will succumb to the venom and die. This really adds an element of excitement and risk when brawling with vampires! There could be real consequences if a vampire loses a brawl with a werewolf or is attacked by one!

However, there is a way for a vampire to tap into the nature of the beast without dying!

Hybrid Werewolves

Hybrids are Sims who are half vampire, half werewolf and they come with their own special abilities unique to hybrids. Of course, being highly allergic to werewolf venom, it’s not exactly easy for a vampire to become a hybrid as you might imagine. It’s going to take a special concoction only available to Sims who have built up their Werewolf Lore skill.

Simply infecting a vampire with werewolf venom will kill them, but Sims well-versed in Werewolf Lore can make a special concoction called the Amalgam Elixir. If an infected vampire drinks the Amalgam Elixir, it will not only cure them of their affliction but it will also turn them into a hybrid!

Hybrids can be differentiated by their eyes, which glow red instead of yellow like pure werewolves. Hybrids also have a unique motive called Beastly Power. Unlike werewolves, whose Feral Control decreases with negative emotions, a hybrid’s Beastly Power increases. The higher their Beastly Power is, the stronger they are and they will win fights and brawls more easily. However, when the bar maxes out, hybrids will transform into a werewolf against their will and be compelled to attack any nearby Sims so there is a risk involved with increasing Beastly Power too far.

Hybrids can also sync their werewolf form to their dark form which is an interaction available by clicking on them. This just applies their werewolf characteristics to their dark form so they can have a cool, unique dark form that has visual elements of both their vampire side and their werewolf side.

Running with the Pack

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves have special interactions and relationships with each other. When a werewolf creates another werewolf, they become that werewolf’s Sire. A Sire has great control over the werewolves they turned. They have the ability to call these werewolves to them whenever they want and make them do their bidding. Werewolves who have been called by their Sire cannot resist their Sire’s commands. They are compelled to come when called by their Sire and to carry out their Sire’s orders. The only way for a werewolf to free themselves of their Sire’s control over them is to kill them; however, this comes at a price because killing their Sire also kills the werewolf curse. This means that any Sims sired by that werewolf will become human.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves must be killed with a silver dagger which the Occult Professor sells. Sims can attempt to slay a werewolf by clicking on the silver dagger in their inventory, which will initiate a fight with the werewolf. The higher your Lycanthropy and/or Fitness skill, the better your chances are of winning the fight. If your Sim wins the fight, they will pull out the dagger and stab the werewolf, which will be the final death blow.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves and hybrids can also form packs. Werewolves/hybrids can ask each other to form a pack. You can choose to be the pack leader yourself or ask the other Sim to be the pack leader. The pack leader is the one who decides which werewolves join the pack or which ones need to leave the pack. Werewolves who are in a pack together have a special relationship bit with each other and have some unique interactions with each other. There is no limit to the number of werewolves that can be in a pack. Werewolves who are part of a pack can call their packmates to them and hunt together.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Make sure you are staying on good terms with all your packmates! A werewolf who is dissatisfied with their leader may decide to challenge them for dominance! The outcome of the brawl determines whether the current pack leader retains their status or if the challenger becomes the new pack leader.

Raising a Werewolf Family

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Werewolves can pass on lycanthropy to their offspring! Werewolf/human pairings have a chance at producing a werewolf baby, while werewolf/werewolf pairings guarantee a werewolf child. If your child is born a werewolf, you’ll receive a notification when the child is born, letting you know. If a Sim is born as a werewolf, their mother automatically becomes their Sire at birth.

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
Wolf children aren’t too different from human children; they have all the same needs as human children but they do have a habit of being rather… destructive. Mainly to your furniture. Like their parents, they also transform into their wolf form at night. We highly recommend having a werewolf toddler howl at the moon. Seriously, it’s the cutest thing ever.

Curing Lycanthropy

Walkthrough of The Sims 4 Werewolves Mod
As mentioned before, a Sim can rid themselves of the beastly curse by killing their Sire, but if you don’t want to resort to murder, there is another option.

At level 10 of the Werewolf Lore skill, Sims can craft the Lycanthropy Cure. Simply have a werewolf drink this to be free of the trappings of life as a beast!

New Objects

Of course, this mod comes with many new objects that can aid or hinder your werewolves! Here’s a quick breakdown of all the main objects your werewolves and werewolf enthusiasts will likely be making use of. This list does not include all crafted recipes, just the buyable ones and the craftable necklace.

  • Lunar Altar – This is the main object you will probably use the most. Werewolves can purchase perks from the moondial and Sims with Werewolf Lore skill can create a variety of objects by placing ingredients on the stone platform. If the altar is not creating the items, try rearranging the placement of the ingredients and make sure the top of the altar is clear with nothing on it.
  • Moondial – Werewolves can use the moondial to replenish some of their Feral Control when it has been depleted. This can help them avoid forcibly transforming.
  • Dwayne Wolff’s Scarfing Table and Lord Lycan’s Dining Table – Both these objects serve the same purpose. They are simply lower dining tables to allow werewolves to scarf down their food like a dog rather than having to sit and eat at a proper dining table.
  • Chiseled Lycanthrope – This is an interesting object that does different things depending on what you have placed on it. For example, placing a moonstone on it will deplete the Feral Control of any nearby werewolves while putting raw meat on it will attract werewolves! It’s a good way to either deter or encourage werewolves to visit the lot.
  • Moonstone Ring – While a werewolf has this ring on, they are immune to the effects of moonlight and will not transform at night. However, they can still transform if their Feral Control gets too low. Purchase it from the Occult Professor.
  • Hematite Amulet – This amulet can be crafted on the Lunar Altar with high enough Werewolf Lore skill. It will slowly replenish a werewolf’s Feral Control while they are wearing it. If a hybrid wears it, it prevents them from forcibly transforming when their Beastly Power becomes maxed out.
  • Silver Dagger – This is used to slay werewolves. Purchase it from the Occult Professor.
  • Wolfsbane Perfume – This is used to repel werewolves. Purchase it from LycanSource.com
  • Wolfsbane Bracelet – This is another werewolf deterrent. Purchase it from LycanSource.com
  • Book of the Beast – This rare text contains limitless knowledge on Werewolf Lore. Read it to build the Werewolf Lore skill. Purchase it from the Occult Professor.
  • Raw Meat – Food for werewolves! Can also be used to bait a werewolf into appearing on a lot at night. Purchase it from LycanSource.com

Our Thoughts

Our minds are completely blown by this mod! This is an entire game pack in one mod. SpinningPlumbobs didn’t miss a single detail anywhere. Absolutely every small aspect of being a werewolf was thought of and fleshed out. From the Occult Professor to forming packs, to Sires, to hybrids, to raising werewolf children, right down to the smallest details like scratching up furniture and special wolf interactions with others just bring this whole mod to life. I completely forgot this wasn’t a Maxis game pack. In fact, it has more in it than any Maxis-released pack has offered in a very long time and it’s free.

It was hard for me to even tear myself away from the game long enough to write this overview because I was just having so much fun playing with it. I didn’t want to stop! I was never a big fan of werewolves before but this mod has turned me into a werewolf fanatic! I want a whole save filled with these werewolves and hybrids!

If we were to make any suggestions for improvement, we’d probably recommend an easier way to view all the perks and learned crafting recipes we’ve unlocked. We’d love it if we could just scroll over a perk on the Lunar Altar to get a tooltip description of what it is rather than having to click it. It’d also be nice to have some sort of alchemist’s handbook or notes section that lets us see a list of all our unlocked crafting recipes and the required ingredients. Other than this small organizational detail, we really don’t have any other critiques. This mod is simply fantastic.

EA has stopped sales of their games in Russia and Belarus

Electronic Arts has announced today that they are stopping the sales of their video games in the territories of Russia and Belarus.

The decision has been made in support of Ukraine.

Stay alert about the situation in Ukraine. If you have the possibility and resources, here’s a thread on how you can support and donate:

Read their full statement below:

We continue to be shocked at the conflict that is unfolding in Ukraine, and join so many voices around the world in calling for peace and an end to the invasion. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.  Our primary concern is the ongoing safety of those in the region, particularly colleagues and partners, and we are seeking to understand how we might best help them further beyond our programs that are already in place.

We have made the decision to stop sales of our games and content, including virtual currency bundles, in Russia and Belarus while this conflict continues. As a result, our games and content will no longer be available for purchase in our Russian region storefront on Origin or the EA app, including through in-game stores. We are also working with our platform partners to remove our titles from their stores and stop the sale of new in-game content in the region.

As this deeply troubling situation evolves, we’re continually reviewing the steps we can take. In addition to changes to our EA SPORTS FIFA and NHL games, we are actively evaluating other areas of our games and operations, and will update with any further actions.

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4

Guide to Roof Styles with 29 different Examples!

In some ways, roofing is the easiest it’s ever been in The Sims 4. In other ways… it’s not. For example, we have the ability to copy roof pieces, adjust the eaves, and we have many more advanced methods of controlling the curvature of roofs. On the other hand, we don’t have an auto-roof tool like we did in previous Sims games which can make it difficult for a newbie builder to roof their buildings.

We’re going to give you a rundown of all the different roof pieces and show you 29 different examples of roofs you can create for many different shapes of buildings. We’re also going to show you a few advanced tricks and shortcuts to maximize roof customization.

Default Roof Types

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
In order to understand how to create elaborate roofs with many different pieces, you’ll first need to be familiar with the default roof pieces. There are a total of 12 different styles of default roofs, numbered above:

  1. Gabled
  2. Hipped
  3. Half-Gabled
  4. Hexagonal
  5. Octagonal
  6. Pentagonal
  7. Half-Hipped
  8. Circular
  9. Hipped Diagonal
  10. Half-Hipped Diagonal
  11. Half-Gabled Diagonal
  12. Gabled Diagonal

We’ll be using the above terminology when describing which pieces you’ll need to use when designing the different example roofs so refer back here if you’re unsure of which piece we’re using.

Of course, all of these pieces can be manipulated in a number of ways. We can curve the different roof pieces to create domes or wavy roof styles. We can pull out or bring in the eaves overhanging the sides of the roof. We can adjust the pitch of the roof but it’s best to see these tools in action in order to learn about them so we’ll go over ow to manipulate each piece in the example roof styles below.

A-Frame

A-frame homes are popular as lake houses and modern cabins. To create an A-frame home, you’ll need a square or rectangular room, a gabled roof piece, and two half-gabled roof pieces.

Place the gabled piece on top of the room and use the arrows to stretch it out to the same length and width as the room beneath it. Then place a half-gabled piece on one side and use the arrows to adjust the pitch of both pieces until they both have the same pitch, creating a seamless edge from the ground to the top. Highlight the half-gabled piece and select the copy icon to make a copy of it and place it on the other side.

Barrel-Vaulted

Barrel-vaulted roofs are popular for fallout shelters, storage units, and some types of farm buildings. They are very simple to make, too. All you need is a square or rectangular room and one gabled roof piece.

Place the gabled piece on the room and stretch it out until it matches the size of the room. Then grab one of the circular ball icons on either side of the roof and drag it upwards as far as it will go until it creates a perfect half-circle shape. Since gabled pieces have eaves by default, you’ll want to pull those in by grabbing one of the arrow icons at the edge of the roof and pulling inward.

Bell

Bell roofs are popular on cathedral turrets and many different types of religious or ceremonial buildings. These are also quite simple to do. They require one octagonal-shaped room and one octagonal roof piece.

Make sure the room is even on all sides. Although it seems counter-intuitive, this actually means that the diagonal walls should be one tile shorter than the straight walls. This is because diagonal walls are a bit longer than straight walls. Then stretch an octagonal roof piece over the structure until it matches the size of the room. Use the up arrow to pull the pitch of the roof up as high as desired.

Now for the fun part. There is an advanced shortcut that will allow you to curve roof pieces more precisely. Press SHIFT+C with the roof piece selected and extra circular icons will appear on the sides for more curvature points. This mode also allows you to make smoother pitch adjustments. Pull the circle icons upward until they create a smooth bell shape.

To complete the bell roof look, these roofs typically have some kind of roof ornament at the very top. You can do that by enabling the cheat bb.moveobjects on, selecting your desired roof piece from the roof décor section, then using the 9 key to raise it to your desired height at the very top of the roof. We used a piece of base game roof décor and sized it down a bit using the [ key.

Butterfly

Butterfly roofs aren’t a common sight these days but they are a popular mid-century roof design. If you’re building a modern 60s or 70s suburban home, this roof style works well. All you need is a square or rectangular room and two half-gabled roof pieces.

Make sure the room is an even number of tiles wide. Then place a half-gabled piece on the room with the flat side facing outward. Stretch it out so that it is half the width of the room beneath it. Drag the pitch up or down to your desired height. Typically, butterfly roofs have a lower pitch. Then copy the roof piece and place it facing the opposite way on the other side of the room.

You will end up with the eaves overlapping in the centre which doesn’t look nice. This is where another neat shortcut comes in. You already know that you can pull the eaves in on both sides but what if you like the eaves on the other side? What if you only want to get rid of the eaves in the middle where it overlaps? Select the piece and hold down SHIFT while pulling in the side you want to adjust. Only the eaves on that side will be pulled in. You can pull the centre eaves in for a cleaner look to your butterfly roof without sacrificing the nice eaves on the outside.

Clerestory

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Clerestory roofs can be useful for both single story homes and homes where one section is two stories but another section is only one story. You’ll need a square or rectangular room (or a room with a second story that’s smaller than the bottom story) and two half-gabled roof pieces.

If working with a one-story home, place a half-gabled roof on the room with the flat side facing inward and stretch it so that it is at least one or two tiles smaller than the width of the room. Pull the pitch up a bit higher. Then place a second half-gabled piece with the flat side also facing inward and drag it to meet the other roof piece. Drag the pitch to be about half the height of the other piece. Hold SHIFT while dragging in the inner eave of the smaller piece so it doesn’t cut through the wall.

If working with a two-story home, there is less adjustment needed. Just place a half gabled piece on the second story and another one on the bottom section. The roof sections will already be differing heights.

Combination

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Combination roofs are a popular style for shotgun homes. It requires one rectangular or square room and two hipped roof pieces.

Place the first hipped roof piece and stretch it to match the length and width of the room. Then drag it down to a very low pitch. Then place another hipped roof on top that’s a couple tiles smaller in length and width than the room and raise the pitch to be slightly higher than the other roof piece. The important thing to remember here is to make sure the ridges of the pieces line up to create a seamless look. You may have to adjust the roof sizes until you get it right.

Conical

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Conical roofs are great for castle turrets and other tower-like structures. They’re very easy. They require one octagonal room and one circular roof piece.

Following the same principles of the bell roof, make sure the octagonal room is an even length on all sides. Then stretch out a circular roof piece over it and drag upwards or downwards to your desired pitch. You can pull out or draw in the eaves as you wish.

Cross-Hipped

Cross-hipped roofs are ideal for L-shaped homes and are very popular in many suburban designs. You’ll need an L-shaped room, one hipped roof piece, and one half-hipped roof piece. Alternatively, you could also use two hipped pieces.

Stretch the hipped roof over one section and the half-hipped roof over the other section with the flat side ending in the centre of the hipped roof. Alternatively, you could also stretch a hipped roof all the way to the end of the second section, overlapping the first roof piece. Then just adjust the pitch until the height of both pieces match for a seamless look.

Curved

Curved roofs are good for container homes, trailers, and storage units. They’re exactly like barrel-vaulted roofs, just with a more subtle curvature. You’ll need a square or rectangular room and a gabled roof piece.

Stretch the gabled roof piece over the room and enable advanced roof adjustments with SHIFT+C while the roof piece is selected. You’ll be able to get a smoother, less intense curve this way. Adjust the curve of the roof until it’s a softer version of the barrel-vaulted roof shown earlier. Pull the eaves in if desired.

Dome

Dome roofs are the same as conical roofs, just with a different curvature. It requires one octagonal room and one circular roof piece.

Again, make sure the room is an even length on all sides. Then place the conical piece over it. Grab the circular icons along the sides of the roof and drag upwards until it creates a perfect dome over the structure. You will likely want to pull in the eaves on domed roofs but this creates the problem of the outer points of the octagonal room beneath it being visible. A good way to solve this problem is to use the thickest roof trim to cover that up.

Domed Vault

Domed vault roofs aren’t super common but they can be a really great design for cathedrals and ceremonial buildings. They are very eye catching. You’ll need a cross-shaped room, one circular roof piece, and four gabled roof pieces.

Drag the circular roof over the whole structure and drag the curve sharply upwards so it creates a perfect dome. Then place a gabled roof over any one of the outer edges and do the same thing until it’s a perfect barrel vault shape. Then copy the gabled roof piece and paste it three more times over the other exposed edges.

Dormer

Dormer roofs are great for attic spaces! If you own DLC, some of it may come with faux dormer roof décor you can add to your roof for a very quick dormer look. You can also build your own dormers. You’ll need a square or rectangular room with a small 2×3 room over it and two gabled roof pieces.

Stretch a gabled roof over the first floor and adjust the pitch upward so that it’s higher than the walls of the second room above it. Then stretch a second gabled piece over the smaller room above and adjust the pitch so that it does not rise higher than the roof on the first story.

Dropped Eaves

Dropped eave roofs are a great way to roof U-shaped buildings but they require at least two stories. You’ll need a U-shaped room on the first floor, a rectangular room on the second floor, a gabled roof piece, and two half-gabled roof pieces.

Drag a gabled roof over the second story and lower the pitch a bit. Then place a half-gabled roof over the exposed sections on the first story with the flat side facing inward. Play around with the pitch of both sections of roof until you have a seamless slant going from one piece to the next. Copy the half-gabled piece and paste it over the other exposed section.

Dutch Gable

A Dutch-gable roof is another popular shotgun style roof and is very similar to the combination roof, except it uses a gabled piece on top instead of a hipped piece. You’ll need a square or rectangular room, a gabled roof piece, and a hipped roof piece.

Drag the hipped piece over the room and make the pitch quite low, then drag out the gabled piece so it’s a few tiles smaller than the room on all sides and drag the pitch up a bit so it sticks out above the hipped roof. Adjust roof sizes as needed to get the ridges to match up.

Flat

Flat roofs are probably the easiest style of roof you can make. A lot of beginner builders default to flat roofs when they have trouble roofing their builds but flat roofs do look great on a lot of modern and commercial builds.

There’s a few different ways you can create a flat roof. One way is just to leave it alone and use the ceiling of the room as the roof. You can also place a platform over a room to give it a taller look and outline it with platform trims. You can use fences to outline a flat roof and even half walls.

Gable

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4

Another super easy, tried-and-true roof style is the simple gable. No special instructions here. Just stretch a gabled roof piece over a square or rectangular room and adjust the pitch as desired. Pull out or bring in the eaves as desired.

Gambrel

Gambrel roofs are perfect for large rectangular buildings like barns and warehouses. They require one large rectangular room with another room above it that is at least 2-3 tiles smaller in width, a gabled roof piece, and two half-gabled roof pieces.

Stretch the gabled roof over the full length and width of the second story room, then place a half-gabled piece with the flat side facing inward on the exposed section of the bottom room on one side. Adjust the pitch of both the top and bottom roof pieces until they connect and create a clean ridge. Use SHIFT+C to pull the eaves in wherever they overlap each other. Then copy the half-gabled piece and paste it on the other side.

Hexagonal

Hexagonal roofs are not necessarily difficult. The difficult part is knowing what shape of room to use on the bottom. You’ll need an octagonal room and a hexagonal roof piece. Ironically, hexagonal rooms don’t work very well with hexagonal roof pieces.

Again, ensure the octagonal room is an even length on all sides. Then stretch the hexagonal roof piece over it and adjust pitch as desired. You may end up with the problem of the points of the room below it being visible and extending the eaves often looks bad. Use a thick roof trim to clean this up.

Hip and Valley

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Hip and valley roofs are great for T-shaped structures. You’ll need a T-shaped room, a hipped roof piece, and a half-hipped roof piece.

Stretch the hipped roof piece over the longer section of the room. Then stretch the half-hipped piece over the smaller section with the flat side meeting the other roof piece in the middle.

Hip

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Hip roofs are another easy one that don’t require any special instructions. Just stretch a hipped roof piece over a rectangular room and adjust pitch and eaves as desired.

Jerkinhead

Jerkinhead roofs are uncommon but they certainly make a statement. You’ll need a square or rectangular room with another room above it that’s at least 2-3 tiles smaller in width on both sides, a hipped roof piece, and two half-gabled pieces.

Stretch the hipped piece over the top room, then stretch a half-gabled piece over the exposed bottom section on one side with the flat side facing inward. Adjust the pitch of both pieces until they meet to form a seamless ridge. Pull in the inner eaves of the half-gabled roof. Then copy the half-gabled piece and paste it on the other side.

M-Shaped

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
M-shaped roofs are ideal for townhomes and other attached buildings. They are super simple, too. You’ll need a rectangular room and two gabled pieces.

Make sure the room is an even number of tiles wide. Then stretch a gabled piece over one half and another gabled piece over the other half. Pull in the inner eaves overlapping each other with SHIFT and adjust pitch as desired.

Mansard

Mansard roofs are very popular on Victorian homes but they can be a bit tricky to build. You’ll need a square or rectangular room with another room above it that is at least 2 tiles smaller on all sides, four half-gabled roof pieces, and four hipped roof pieces.

Place a half gabled piece against one side of the smaller room and drag the pitch upward until it meets the ceiling. Use SHIFT to pull in the eave here. Then copy that piece three times and place against the other three sides of the smaller room. Next, place a hipped roof piece at one of the exposed corners and stretch it large enough for the ridge to line up with the corner of the smaller room’s ceiling when dragged upwards. When you’ve achieved a seamless look, copy the hipped piece three times and place it on the other three corners. Pull out the eaves on the hipped pieces to match the gabled pieces or pull all the eaves in.

Monitor

Monitor roofs are popular in some seaside structures like boathouses. You’ll need a rectangular room with a smaller room above it and two gabled pieces.

Stretch a gabled piece over the entirety of the bottom room, going right through the smaller room on top. Then place another gabled piece above the smaller second room. Bring the pitch of the bottom roof up so that it covers most of the room above it and adjust the pitch of the second roof so that it slants at the same angle as the bottom roof.

Pyramid Hip

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Pyramid hip roofs are super simple. The only thing you need to remember is that the room must be perfectly square. Place a hipped roof over a square room and adjust the eaves and pitch to your liking.

Saltbox

Saltbox roofs are useful for sheds and other farm buildings. They can be done with a single story or two stories where the second story is much smaller in width than the bottom story. You’ll need two half-gabled roof pieces.

For single story homes, stretch a half-gabled roof over a rectangular room with the flat side facing inward. The majority of the room should be covered but leave a small amount of space, at least 2 tiles, on one side. Then place a second half-gabled piece on the exposed side with the flat side facing inward. Drag the pitch up to meet the edge of the other roof piece and hold SHIFT to pull in the inner eaves of both pieces so they don’t overlap.

Sawtooth

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Sawtooth roofs are popular on a lot of urban rowhouses. They’re very simple to do. You need a rectangular room and three (or more) half gabled roofs.

Stretch a half gabled roof over a small section of room, then place two more facing the same way. You can create a long stretch of sawtooth ridges just by repeating the same pattern. Sawtooth roofs look best when each section of roof is the same size and pitch. Hold SHIFT to pull in eaves wherever you don’t want them.

Shed

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Shed roofs are best for… yep, you guessed it! Sheds! They can also be a nice roof style for a simple contemporary starter home. No special instructions required. Just stretch a half-gabled roof piece over a rectangular or square room and adjust pitch and eaves as desired.

Skillion

Ultimate Guide to Building Roofs in The Sims 4
Skillion roofs are another option for T-shaped homes and offer a more modern look than hip and valley roofs. You’ll need a T-shaped room and two half-gabled roof pieces.

Stretch a half-gabled roof over the longer section of room and pull the pitch upward a bit. The flat side should face the smaller section of room. Then stretch another half-gabled piece over the smaller section of room with the flat side facing inwards. Bring the pitch down so that it sits slightly lower the larger section of roof.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod

Since EA still refuses to acknowledge that they released a completely broken wedding pack, we are shifting our focus to all the wonderful wedding-related content made by the community that does not require My Wedding Stories. Today, we’ll be doing a walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage mod by the very talented MizoreYukii.

This mod is great for royalty gameplay, historical saves, contemporary families with more traditional marriage practices, or any situation where your Sims may want to get married without romance being involved. Arranged Marriage Gameplay

There are three different ways Sims can enter into an arranged marriage with this mod. Adult Sims can arrange a marriage for another member of their household, Sims can arrange a marriage between themselves and another Sim, and Sims can simply just ask for a marriage of convenience.

Household Member Arrangement

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
Any young adult or older Sim in the household can arrange a marriage for another member of their household. Children and older Sims can have marriages arranged for them by their parents or grandparents. Children can only have a marriage arranged with other children. Teens can be paired with other teens or older Sims.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
Young Adult Sims who enter into an arranged marriage will get the standard EA Engaged relationship bit between them and can marry at any point after the arrangement is made. Children and teens will not be able to marry until they become young adults and will have the Betrothed relationship bit between them and their future spouse, instead. Teens who are betrothed to older Sims will not have any romantic socials available between them and their future spouse until the teen becomes a young adult. Children of course have no romance options whatsoever.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
To enter into an arranged marriage this way, have any young adult Sim in the household approach another young adult Sim in a different household and use the Arrange a Marriage For social. The Sims must have met before but there does not need to be a high friendship beyond an introductory level. The marriage arrangement interactions are located under Friendly > Other Sims. A picker menu will appear for you to select the Sims you’d like to arrange a marriage between.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
The other Sim may or may not accept the arrangement. There are a variety of factors that determine the chances of an arranged marriage proposal being accepted or not. Moods, traits, skills, careers, reputation, fame, character values, and sentiments are all scored against each other to determine the outcome. If the player also has royalty mods installed, royalty will be considered as a factor as well.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
The betrothed Sims may or may not be happy with the arrangement. Unhappy Sims can protest the marriage to their parents or grandparents. New socials will be available under the Friendly category with parents and grandparents of betrothed Sims. The betrothed Sim can enthuse or complain about the arrangement to their parent or grandparent and discuss the arrangement with them. They can also refuse to marry the Sim they’ve been paired with. Refusal will end the arrangement.

Partner to Partner Arrangement

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
Teen or older Sims can arrange a marriage for themselves as well. They can approach any teen or older member of a different household and choose the Arrange Marriage for Self interaction under Friendly > Other Sims. A picker menu will allow them to choose a Sim from the other household to arrange a marriage with.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
The scoring is the same as arranging a marriage between two other Sims. The other Sim may or may not accept the arrangement. If the interaction fails, there will be some minor relationship loss. Two failed attempts at a marriage arrangement will prevent you from being able to ask again for 24 hours. This also goes for arranging a marriage between two other Sims.

If the future spouses become unhappy with the arrangement afterwards, they can end the arrangement with each other under the Friendly social category.

Marriage of Convenience

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
This is the simplest way to arrange a marriage for a young adult or older Sim. Sims can simply ask each other for a marriage of convenience. A marriage of convenience has a lower scoring requirement to succeed but it can still fail depending on different factors. Marriages of convenience are good for peasants in historical or royalty saves. It’s also a quick, easy way to get Sims married without love being involved.

Sims can ask each other to end the marriage of convenience arrangements if they later become dissatisfied with the arrangement.

Getting Married

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
Children and teens who are betrothed will have to wait until they become a young adult to actually marry their future spouse. The Betrothed relationship bit will age with them so when they become a young adult, the Betrothed status will change to Engaged without you having to do anything. Young adults who are engaged can get married immediately if they want to.

If the Sims are not in love, you will be asked if you want your Sims to end the ceremony with a kiss or not during the vows. If you select yes, the couple will share a small peck. If they are in love, they will autonomously share a more romantic kiss at the end of the ceremony.

The Sims 4: Walkthrough of the Arranged Marriage Mod
Assuming one is able to become pregnant and the other is able to get Sims pregnant, Try for Baby will immediately become available for the newlyweds as a romantic social even if the couple are acquaintances. Regular WooHoo will only be available if the Sims have a high enough romantic relationship.

Future Plans

MizoreYukii lists some of her future plans for the mod, so you can look forward to later developments! Here is an excerpt from her tumblr page outlining a few features she plans to add in future mod updates.

  • Optional romance blocker – Will block all romance gain if you want to keep the relationship neutral.
  • More arranging options – Fixing feuds, matchmaker NPCs, ads, monarchy decided marriages and more will come over time to give you additional gameplay options.
  • Social updates – Some parts will be optional; Consequences and reactions from those around you and in society based on actions, more socials, more buffs, etc.
  • Dowry update – Will be optional; Sims will expect a dowry upon arranging
  • Carefully made autonomy updates – Will be optional; Based on traits, etc. sims will be asking you instead to make the game more alive.
  • Event updates – Meet potential suitors at an event, bride/groom shows (which is another arranging option), and more as I think of them
  • After marriage update – Focuses on interactions and gameplay after being married for additional gameplay options

Our Thoughts

We had so much fun playing with this mod! Arranged marriages are something I have personally wanted in the game to help me tell my royal and historical stories. I have always just used cheats to make Sims engaged without love being involved and pretended that it was an arranged marriage but having all these options integrated into the gameplay really makes the whole thing come alive for me. This is definitely staying in my game for good. I love all the different moodlets and reactions Sims can have to the arranged marriages.

I will also be eagerly following the mod updates for some of those new features coming! They all sound fantastic!

If you’re a royalty or historical gameplay fanatic, or if you just want a way to more accurately reflect more traditional families and marriage practices in contemporary times, we highly recommend this mod!

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!

Spring is right around the corner; the season of love and love is certainly in the air for our Sims! To celebrate, we thought we’d share some of our favourite romantic spots in The Sims 4! Places that are perfect for first dates, romantic pictures, proposals, and even WooHoo!

Here are our top 12 picks for romantic locations in The Sims 4!

Von Haunt Estate, Windenburg

This gorgeous location is the perfect setting for both weddings and romantic strolls. With picturesque gardens, an interactive maze, a wedding arch next to a waterfall, and the immortalized love story of Lord and Lady Shallot preserved in plaques located around the grounds, you can’t go wrong with taking your special someone here.

The Bluffs, Windenburg

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
While the graffiti on the ruins might be a turn-off for some people, there’s no denying the privacy this intimate locale offers Sims. A natural pool sits on a cliff overlooking breathtaking waters and tall crumbling ruins keep prying eyes away. There’s also a bonfire for cozying up and a WooHoo bush here so it’s a good location for getting frisky.

The Ruins, Windenburg

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
The ruins in Windenburg are another secretive location tucked away from civilization. There isn’t much here when it comes to activities but it’s certainly an intimate spot to profess your love for someone. You can get some amazing pictures here.

San Myshuno Meadows, San Myshuno

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
If you haven’t explored San Myshuno Meadows yet, it’s a must-see location for both you and your date! There’s a wedding arch and reception hall already set up on the lot itself, making it perfect for weddings but there’s so much to see in this entire expansive area. One spot in particular down by the water is truly gorgeous. Trumpeter swans glide gracefully across the water in front of a towering cityscape that looks spectacular at night. I had a pair of Sims have their wedding photos taken in this exact spot.

The Pinnacles, Del Sol Valley

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
Believe it or not, Del Sol Valley has some hidden romantic gems. Namely, this overlook in The Pinnacles right behind Judith Ward’s home. It’s a beautiful location even during the day but at night, the cityscape below lights up and offers a pretty incredible backdrop for pictures and romantic moments. I’ve had a few Sims get engaged at this location.

Lover’s Point, Forgotten Hollow

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
You might not think of creepy Forgotten Hollow when thinking about romantic places to take your date but this gloomy Victorian town has an eerie charm to it. There is a lone tree next to a bench on an overlook at the end of a winding trail in Forgotten Hollow known as Lover’s Point and it can be quite an intimate place for a confession of love or a proposal, especially for our vampire Sims.

The Lighthouse, Brindleton Bay

This is one of my favourite romantic spots in the entire game. The lighthouse in Brindleton Bay isn’t just world décor; your Sims can actually go up to the top of the lighthouse and take in the amazing ocean views. It’s a perfect spot for proposals… and WooHoo! That’s right, Sims can WooHoo inside the lighthouse, too. My Sims shared their first kiss and got engaged right here at the top of this lighthouse.

The Waterfall, Sulani

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
If you visit the island of Mua Pel’am in Sulani, there’s a waterfall tucked away in a little nook near the volcano. Sims can play in the water here and WooHoo behind the waterfall! Who wouldn’t want to get romantic in the waters of a tropical paradise?

The Portal, Glimmerbrook

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
For those looking for a more whimsical locale to stoke the flames of romance, the portal in Glimmerbrook is a beautiful spot. It stands on an ancient platform at the top of a waterfall and has an ethereal glow surrounded by the mists of the waterfall rising up behind it. Of course, spellcaster Sims will find even more incredibly romantic spots if they step through the portal…

The Ruined Castle, Britechester

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
It breaks my heart that this crumbling castle, along with all the terrain directly around it, is unroutable, making it impossible for our Sims to get anywhere close to it, not even with mods or cheats. None of the surrounding terrain is clickable at all. Still, a kiss on a rainy day along the bridges or paths below makes for a very romantic moment with the castle in the distance.

Wakaba, Mt. Komorebi

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
There’s no shortage of amazing views and romantic locations in Mt. Komorebi but the Wakaba district’s tranquil beauty cannot be overstated enough. Its winding stone pathways between peaceful rivers, lush temperate vegetation, bamboo fences and Japanese bridges is such a beautiful spot to go on a romantic walk with someone you love.

The Bramblewood, Henford-on-Bagley

Top 12 Romantic Spots in The Sims 4!
There is something truly magical about the Bramblewood. It gives me goosebumps every time I visit it. It’s beautiful as it is during the day but at night, faerie lights strung from the trees cast a romantic glow over the area and the ancient crumbling ruins in the centre of this area light up as a stunning centrepiece of any romantic moment.

The Sims 4 Burglars Mod is Out Now!

1

Carl’s Burglars Mod is out now for everyone!

A couple of weeks ago we wrote about Carl’s Sims 4 Guides’ latest addition to The Sims 4 Gameplay Overhaul Mod.

The modder was able to integrate an entire concept of Burglars into The Sims 4 with immersive features that make the addition worth adding into your game.

The mod adds an additional layer of challenge to The Sims 4 with random burglarly occurrences when your Sims fall asleep. There is a new Lot Trait that reduces the level of crime in your neighborhood making the Burglars visit your lot less often. There’s also a Lot Challenge that makes them appear more often!

On top of all of that the Burglars behave menacingly – as they should – stealing multiple objects in the middle of the night. You have a diffeerent set of interactions that allow you to attempt to take the objects back. If you’ve been extra pre-cautious you can also purchase a new Alarm System that alerts the police when your house gets broken into!

The Sims 4 Burglars Mod is Out Now!

The Gameplay Overhaul Mod also includes plenty of fixes to The Sims 4 Dine Out Game Pack, as well as new challenging additions that will help you set the Game Difficulty.

For more information about the Burglars aspect check out our Walkthrough!

The Mod is out for everyone and you can download it by clicking the button below (the mod files are located on the bottom of the page). You can install the mod by pasting the downloaded files to Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder and enabling them in your Game Options.
