The Sims 4 Island Living: Everything We Know So Far

It’s official! Island Living has been confirmed as the next expansion pack for The Sims 4! The announcement was made by @SimGuruLyndsay and @SimGuruDuke in a livestream at EA Play today, and they had a lot to share with us about the upcoming expansion pack.

Here’s everything we know so far about The Sims 4 Island Living!

  • The Sims 4 Island Living will be released for PC/Mac on June 21st, 2019.
  • The expansion is heavily influenced by Polynesian culture.
  • There will be a brand new island world called Sulani.
  • Sulani is a fully residential world, not a vacation destination.
  • The island of Sulani changes over time, depending on the choices your Sims make and how they treat the environment.
  • Sulani is home to an active volcano. The volcano can erupt at times!
  • The neighbourhoods are diverse. Sims can live near the coast or higher up in the hills.
  • Sulani has alcoves that your Sims can explore.
  • New tropical fish.
  • There are dolphins in Sulani that your Sims can befriend. The dolphins can do tricks and squirt water at your Sims.
  • New activities include riding the new aqua zips across the water, suntanning (and sunburns), snorkeling, building sand castles, looking for seashells, and playing some mischievous pranks on unsuspecting Sims.
  • Sims can swim in the ocean.
  • There is a new Conservationist career where your Sims will be able to help protect Sulani’s eco-system and take care of the island to make it a better place for everyone.
  • In addition to the Conservationist career, Sulani has a variety of odd jobs your Sims can perform on their own time to make some money. These jobs have more flexible hours and allow your Sims to work part-time as a lifeguard or scuba instructor. Fishing has been expanded to fit in with these new odd jobs.
  • The locals are very friendly and helpful. They might even run into your house to help you put out a fire!
  • Tradition and culture are central to life on Sulani.
  • Sims can partake in new social activities native to Sulani, like pit BBQs and kava parties.
  • There are elemental spirits on Sulani who care very much about the island’s well being. They can help Sims who do their part to protect Sulani’s environment. They can also be problematic to Sims who disrespect the island.
  • New traits unlock some new behaviours related to the island.
  • Island Living comes with a wide variety of colourful and vibrant Polynesian-inspired clothing, accessories, hairstyles, and Build/Buy decor.
  • Lounge chairs will be coming in this expansion!
  • New lots that can be built over the water on stilts. Sims will be able to jump into the water directly off the decks of these lots.
  • Mermaids are a new life state introduced in Island Living. They are fully playable Sims that can be created in CAS.
  • Mermaids have a close relationship with dolphins, along with some special powers.

The first information about The Sims 4 Island Living and its title came from Panvision suggesting an official title and release date (June 21st, 2019).

I’ve been on a lookout for both suggested titles that have been roaming around including Island Living and Tropical Paradise. After trying to load up The Sims 4 Tropical Paradise I immediately got a 404 page, but after trying to load up Island Living I received a small flash of the product page and then it redirected me to 404. However, Google Chrome managed to save up all the assets in the Inspect Elements section and all of the links have shown up.

The Sims 4 Fanmade Mod Pack: Simdroids!

A modder by the name of @llazyneiph on tumblr has just released a brand new mod pack for The Sims 4, called Simdroids! The mod pack turns your Sims into super efficient droids that can be programmed to perform a wide variety of tasks!

The Sims 4 Fanmade Mod Pack: Simdroids!

From llazyneiph’s tumblr:

WHAT IS IT?

Simdroids is a traits based mod that gives you something a little different to play with, with the options of creating Simdroids to live amongst your sims.

The mod consists of one trait, the T-4L0S trait (under lifestyle) that is the basic model of every Simdroid. Once in game, you Simdroid can be programmed to one of 4 different modes; Perfect Partner, Celebdroid, Homemaker, and Manual Laborer.

Basic Model – The basic T-4L0S model is an all-rounder designed to make your Sims lives easier. They will not experience need decay and will learn all skills at an accelerated rate.

Perfect Partner – This mode will give your Simdroid whims and interactions that will help them to become a perfect match for your Sim. They will be able to learn skills such as charisma much faster. Due to the social nature of this setting, Perfect Partner Simdroids will experience social need decay.

Celebdroid – These Droids make perfect celebrities, as they learn all musical and theatrical skills much faster. Their whims will be related to all things creative! They also experience social decay!

Homemaker – When programmed to Homemaker, Simdroids will become a perfect live-in Nanny! They will take care of children and cook meals for the family, great for when the parents are working late. Their whims will relate to children and taking care of the home. Homemaker Droids do not experience need decay.

Manual Laborer Droid – These droids will take care of all handy issues around the house and excel at growing a garden. They will learn all handy and gardening related skills at an accelerated rate. Manual Laborer Droids do not experience need decay.

Childroid – Due to overwhelming response, I implemented a separate trait for toddlers, children and teens, called ‘Perfect Child’. They learn at an accelerated rate and will get whims related to completing homework and learning skills. Childroids will experience energy decay.

They have an option in their social interactions to turn both their hunger and temperature sensitivity on/off.

**Due to technically being a machine, Simdroids do not age. (You can cheat age them up though)

Every programmable option comes with custom moodlets and interactions!

Simdroids will always have a +10 fine moodlet, to keep them at a consistent ‘emotionless’ state.

In addition to the Simdroids, this modpack also comes with a new career with two branches, a new holiday tradition, a new lot trait, a new female hair, and three new outfits each for men and women.
What do you think of this new mod pack? Will you be adding it to your games?
